After reading so many stellar reviews, when I need a plumber I called. After leaving a message, I received a quick call back from the answering service. After explaining it was a plumbing emergency, she said Chris would call back soon. He never called. Never. I fear many of the other reviews have been put there by friends and/or family. My A/C went out last night, and I am not the kind of person who can be without it. I called a bunch of places first thing this morning, and most of them gave me a service date estimate of later this week or possibly the weekend. This weekend doesn't work for me! I need it fixed NOW. This company was the only one to even attempt to get me an immediate service call. The lady on the phone was very nice and said she'd do her best - success! I was given a time frame of 11:00-12:00 today. Well, it's 11:47 and cold air is blowing again. They were very nice, explained the problem, fixed it right up, and we were done. I noticed a puddle in front of my porch steps. I waited several days, hoping the problem would fix itself. It didn't. So I started digging around the main faucet, where the ground was soggy, looking for a leak. I ended up with a giant hole and the realization that I wouldn't know what to do even if I found the leak. So I called QP based on Yelp reviewers. Chris was on a big job but he still came out late that afternoon, diagnosed the problem, and came back the next day and fixed it. He charged a fair price, cleaned up his mess and my mess, then rode into the sunset. I learned two things: 1) who to call for my plumbing needs and 2) I kind of like digging holes. read more

Very happy with my service today. My AC died and the owners were able to squeeze me in the very next day after realizing I'd be stuck in 90 degree heat without any relief. They were perfectly on time. Identification and repair of the problem took literally 5 minutes. Price was quite reasonable. Came out quickly but once we figured that the issue wasn't fixed I couldn't get a call back. We work with kids with disabilities and had clients quit over how hot it is at our facility. Had a friend move a couple of ceiling tiles and saw that one of the main ducts is not connected. Why didn't they check that? Seems like a routine check. Not satisfied. Changing review to 3-stars. Two days after writing this (4-days after I left a message), I received a call from Chris apologizing that he'd been out of town for a family emergency and just got back. In telling him I couldn't take another day off of work, he asked me to call him when I was off of work and he'd meet me up to take a look at the issue again. Chris came by in the evening and took the time to troubleshoot the issue and verify several times that the heater was still working after turning it off/on several times. The issue ended up being a strange issue that the cover was grounding the signal so each time the cover was replaced, it was turning the pilot off. In any case, the issue is resolved and my heater is now working. Overall, I am satisfied. Could my overall experience have been better? Definitely. But, overall, I am happy that Chris took the time to eventually follow-up and fix the issue. read more

I recently purchased a condo and noticed a leak almost immediately. Chris was able to come out that day and fixed the issue. He came back to hookup the dishwasher about a week later. On both visits I asked him to take a look at a couple of other things and he was more than happy to do so. Chris really goes out of his way to make sure the job is done right, efficiently, and he even takes the time to explain what he is doing (something I appreciate to no end). I've had a lot of work done to my condo over the last few weeks as I prep it to move in and Chris has stood out the most. I looked up the top-rated plumbers in Irvine on Yelp for some work I needed done. Specifically, I needed a part replaced on my bathroom sink (which was leaking), my food disposal unit replaced, and a valve replaced on my toilet, which had problems flushing. I called the eight highest rated plumbers on Yelp, and gave them all the information. The going rate for this work for seven of the eight was $ 325-375 plus parts. Quality gave me a much lower quote of $ 130 for the sink and labor, but not including the disposal. They came out the next day and were here right at the beginning of their two hour window. They spent less than an hour and got everything replaced. The disposal unit was a reasonable $ 130 (no markup!) and the total was $ 260, a pretty big savings over their competitors. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them! read more

She called and confirmed he was on his way. He showed up on time and got right to work. Found issue quickly (bad transformer) and fixed it within 1/2 hour of arriving. I've been melting for the past week using electric fans and standing in front of the freezer to keep cool. My AC died on one of the hottest days in OC and Chris came the following day and hooked me up. Jody and Chris were very accomodating with my schedule and worked around it. I was actually Disappointed with Quality based on the other Yelp reviews. At first they seemed great, but it didn't end that way. When i first called and left a message i received a return call almost right away and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day! Every other AC Repair shop was booked out for a week or more! They arrived on time and started working on the system right away. After about 30 minutes they told me that my coolant was low and that they had filled it back up to it's proper level and that that would likely do the trick. They only charged me the regular fee and were on their way. Here is where my problems with Quality started. Their fix didn't actually fix my problem with the unit. I called them back and left a message but didn't receive any call back. So i called again for a day or two with no answer. Finally i was able to reach someone and they said they would page the Tech and have him call me back. Again no call back. Finally i called the office again and scheduled another appointment for someone to look at the unit since it wasn't working i figured someone would need to look at it. They came out 2 days later arrived a little late and said everything looked OK, but that some component could use a cleaning and that that might be the issue. He didn't have the equipment to actually do the job and had called one of the other repair guys to come out and work on it. This other guy never came. Again i called the office to find out when he would come out. She said she would page the tech and have him call me, but again i never received a call back. I tried to call one last time, and there was no answer. At this point I'm done with Quality. I don't have a problem with their repairs (if they worked), and i understand it's a busy time of year, but they need to work on their communications with their customers. All i wanted was a 5 minute call back to say we have someone coming out on this day and time with the part or tool needed. read more

These guys are very hit or miss. The first time out they did a fair job, although they were about 4 hours late. But a few days later when I had a related problem, they were missing in action. No return calls, and if you did get them on the phone Chris (the owner) would promise to call back but never would. Ironically, I called Quality plumbing because of the good reviews....don't always believe what you read! I called because our furnace wasn't working. Made an appointment for the following day, they didn't show up in the time frame quoted. I called the number and was told Chris would be at my house 2 hours after time quoted. He got my heater working (it went out after he left), but said he would need to order a part. It would be 2-4 days and he would be back to install. It would cost about $350, I guess they don't need the work (or money) because he never called back or returned my calls. Don't waste your time...we r just dressing really warm and cuddling a lot at my freezing cold house! read more

This is for a slab leak that started as a wet spot in the middle of my house underneath the carpet. As the spot got bigger, I knew I had to call someone... Chris was actually referred to me by another plumber when I described what problem I had, which goes to show that Chris without a doubt is well respected for his experience. Once he came in (on the day I called, no less), his X-ray vision somehow managed to identify a leak 18 inches underground. What was amazing was that he knew exactly where it was before taking out some sonic device and tracing through one of the pipes on the wall adjacent to the room of the leak to locate exactly where it was. He was able to fix it by pulling a replacement pipe through the broken one, and completely rebuilding the pipe underground without digging anything up. Yes, he fixed a leak under 18 inches of concrete without breaking anything. It's suppose to be a pretty advanced technique that few plumbers know how to do and cuts down on time, destruction, and overall interference with the rest of the house. It was very efficient (2 hour job), and he did exactly what he needed to do, nothing more, nothing less. Definite a quality job that reflected great attention to detail while rebuilding the pipe, minimizing to the very least the amount of stuff needed to be taken apart, and at a very low cost with five year warrantee. He quoted me a price half of what any other plumber suggested over the phone, and ended up charging less than that, which was fabulous because I ended up having to cancel the claim on my home insurance policy because it was below the deductible. And he didn't charge me for coming over to look at it,. I definitely recommend Chris. A very honest guy who just knows his stuff. He's done everything a million times, and knows how to do it for less because he is just so damn good at it that he doesn't mess up or do anything unnecessary. Don't hesitate to call him. He will be at the top of my list whenever I need anything related to home repair. read more

He came straight out to our home the very next day, when four other companies plus our insurance company said that they could not come out until late next week. Very, very happy customer. I read the reviews and was a bit skeptical when I saw a few of the negative comments. Our air conditioner just broke during the recent heat spell and Chris at Quality was able to fit us in on Memorial Day. It turned out that the capacitor had blown and Chris had the AC running very quickly. However, that night after the AC cycled off it wouldn't turn on again and so I called Chris while he was enjoying Memorial Day with his family and he picked up. He told me he couldn't come out the next day and I thought "here we go", and he said that he would come out the next day (Wednesday). Well to my surprise I got home from work on Tuesday and Chris had left a message that he stopped by just before 5 and put a hard start kit in the AC and that it should work. It did! He said that it could solve the problem for days or a year or more, but that the motor was cooked. I asked him to just repair that when he could and he came Wednesday AM and replaces that without me being home, took the payment from me on Thursday and didn't tack on additional call fees (as I would hope and was glad he thought this first). I found Chris from Quality Plumbing and Air on Yelp while searching for a plumber to fix my garbage disposal. He called me back within a few minutes and over the phone he walked me through how to check to see if the problem could be fixed prior to him even coming to my home for a service call. His advice worked and there was nothing else that needed to be repaired. He didn't have to offer me the free advice but he chose to do so and I will keep his number handy if I need his service in the future. I recommend this company to anyone needing a plumber. Considering that the first plumber I called told me the service call would be 125 bucks and between 125 to 300 dollars if anything needed to be fixed or replaced. One Friday morning, I discovered my water heater leaking, so I started searching for plumbers. I had a different plumber come out who mentioned that I had a direct vent type water heater that was expensive (~$1,500) and hard to find. He contacted his supplier who indicated it would be a few days as he was all sold out, so the earliest I could get it fixed would be the following Tuesday. Being without hot water for a few days is not the best position to be in and after more excuses from the supplier and the plumber, I started looking for other plumbers. That's when I found Chris with Quality Plumbing and Air. He came out either that Monday or Tuesday and started discussing options and then mentioned the idea of installing a tankless water heater. He suggested it because of the fact that even though they are about $2K+, with the rebates and tax incentives, it would be about the same price as this special direct vent water heater that the other plumber had me lined up for. I said yes, and the following day the new tankless water heater was up and running perfectly. Since the guys spent the majority of the day there, I didn't want to pester them with other minor plumbing issues in the house (sink, leaky shower head, running toilet, etc.) so I just asked if we could set up another time to take a look at those. Chris said sure and his appointment-setter called me shortly thereafter to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately, I waited for them to come on the scheduled day, but they never did on that day. A little bit of a miscommunication (-1 star), but when they did come out, he fixed them in no time and for no charge! I had a slab leak about a month ago and they sent out one of their guys to look at it. We talked about either rerouting the supply line, which would have required a lot of very messy drywall work, or relining the original pipe with epoxy. I was told that they would get back to me with a quote for the epoxy job (which they would subcontract out), but they never called me back. I left messages at their office every day for a week and a half, but they completely blew me off. The one star goes to their receptionist, who seemed nice when I called the first time. read more

Used these guys twice, once last year and the year before. The first year I found them through Yelp. The house wasn't cooling and someone suggested adding freon. Okay I called in the morning and left a message with the receptionist (I think) who explained the fee for the house call. After the appointment was set, they came on time. They cleaned the filters and found nothing wrong. No freon needed to be added and they explained that too much freon isn't a good thing. The unit was just too small for the house. In the end, there was no charge, which I was really grateful for. The next year, I had another issue and went to Quality right away. They were on time, explained problems and solutions, did the fix, and charged me what I thought was really reasonable. This year, I have another problem. Unfortunately, I didn't get a hold of them as quickly as the last times and had to call someone else. It's summer...you grab the first available service before you burn up. read more

I had quotes ranging from $1,050-$1,200 to replace a 40 gallon water heater. These guys quoted me about $850. They also replaced a worn out shut-off valve, but I still payed the price as quoted. I also like the fact that there is always someone answering the phone, since I'm usually getting someone's voice mail if they are taking their own calls. Jody who takes calls was very cordial, had no problem giving me a quote (other plumbers I called were not upfront), and was good about keeping me informed. The only complaint my tenant said was that they could've swept up some of the debris that was left on the walkway, but my tenant is super clean and tends to complain. I think these guys are overall honest and fair people, and i would gladly hire them again if needed. read more

We as customers always hope for honest technicians that work on our ACs or plumbing. We often don't know what's wrong with our appliances and trust the techs that they are ethical. That is exactly what you get with these guys. I made a mistake and called Kalka instead of Quality Plumbing. Kalka was ready to charge me $800 for repairs and Quality Plumbing found nothing wrong with my AC unit!!! Quality actually told me to check with the air duct folks in case there are holes,etc. It shows how honest Chris and team is and they deserve to be successful. Note this is a small family outfit so don't expect someone to answer the phone 24/7; in fact you typically need to leave a voice message. My father in law has Alzheimer's and as such this can present an issue for service people. he had a broken pipe and my husband and I were on business travel but called Chris since he has been servicing our home for a few years now. Our A/C was blowing warm air. I called and had someone at my house within a few hours (thank God- I'm nine month pregnant in a heat wave). Within 5 minutes, I was told there was a loose wire in our unit and he had just plugged it back in tightly and everything was working again. No charge! Our AC unit is from the 70's, so I get nervous that these guys are going to tell me we need a new unit since I'm clueless about this stuff. My daughter used Quality Plumbing a few years ago to install a garbage disposer and a hot water dispenser. She was so please with them and their work that she kept their card. We needed to have a garbage disposer installed so we called them. Without hesitation, I highly recommend them. Great customer service and they are fast, efficient, and professional. To top it off, we were charged $60 less than what the Home Depot referral plumber was going to charge. We're keeping their card too, not only for us but to refer friends and neighbors. Just a side note. I have no way of knowing if the 2 "1 star" ratings were placed there by their competitors, but I'm suspect.
