I came in for a full synthetic oil change and told the staff I was leaving that day for a 9-hour drive to Tennessee for my grandmother's memorial. Because of that, I wanted to make sure my car was in good shape before getting on the road. During my visit, I noticed the manager correcting multiple technicians, and the shop didn't seem to be running very efficiently. I tried not to think much of it since I was only there for an oil change. As part of the service, they checked my tires and added air. As soon as I left, my tire pressure warning light came on. I immediately turned around and went back. I asked the technician how much air had been put in my tires, and he told me 69 PSI. My Honda's recommended tire pressure is 32 PSI. I was shocked and asked why they would put that much air in my tires. They assured me they corrected everything and that all four tires were now at 32 PSI. I drove away again, and the warning light was still on. At that point, I didn't trust the readings, so I stopped at the tire shop directly across the street. They checked my tires and found my front tires were actually at 45 PSI, not the 32 PSI Valvoline had assured me they were. I was about to begin a 9-hour highway drive, and this completely shook my confidence in the work that had been done. I shouldn't have had to rely on another shop to verify something so basic after already returning once. What has been even more disappointing is the customer service afterward. I have contacted Valvoline customer service multiple times over the past several weeks. The manager, Ryan, offered me a free oil change, but after this experience I have no interest in returning. I requested a refund instead, which I believe is reasonable given what happened. I've followed up more than 10 times and have received no response. Mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability afterward has been incredibly frustrating. I cannot recommend this location based on my experience. I hope this review helps someone avoid the same experience I had. If Valvoline would simply stand behind their service and issue a refund, I would gladly update this review to reflect that resolution. Update: they finally refunded my oil change. I appreciate them trying to rectify the situation by processing a full refund. Means a lot.

The mechanic listened, asked good follow-up questions, made sure he understood the problem before drawing any conclusions, and then diagnosed it cleanly. The part arrived within the window he quoted (2-3 hours), was installed without fuss, and the final bill was reasonable. What stood out as much as the technical work: he flagged a slow coolant leak and a minor oil leak -- this is an older car, so neither was a shock -- but there was no pressure to pile on services. He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. Also, the door to the reception currently reads "B". Might want to avoid any confusion with better signage. That said, I am a big fan of this establishment and will be using them for repairs in the future (apparently sooner than I want :) Bonus: he pointed me to a wonderful Indian place across the street, Biryani, which I'd highly recommend if you have time to kill while your car is being worked on.

They open at 8am get there. Second- the GPS will take you to an abandoned looking building. Park there in the gravel area and walk next door. You'll see their small office. You might have to get their attention by calling out to them because they are working hard. Third- they are honest. Genuine. Sincere. Fair. They weren't trying to sell me anything. I thought my tire was for sure unrepairable and I needed a new tire. Ok, long story short. The tire wouldn't inflate anymore. It sat overnight at Sheetz until the morning to get towed. It was towed without issues to Solis. When we arrive, he immediately inspected it and said it's repairable. The valve just needs to be replaced. I'll do that and inflate it to be sure. 20 mins later he comes out, installs the tire; it was good as new. No leaks! Best part? $16!! My thoughts? He could've easily charged me for a new tire because I didn't know any better. He could've easily charged me for a second new tire because there was a large nail in a back one. At that point he might have convinced me for 4 new tires... but he did none of that. In fact, he made sure the second tire wasn't leaking air either before I left. This is the kind of customer service that small towns like Zebulon are known for. It's family run, small, and honest. Make the drive to Zebulon for their work- it'll be worth it.

Clyde at Pass The Wrench doesn't do that. He's a fine young man who provides quality, affordable service. If the job isn't done that day, you pay him when it is. I seriously lucked out by asking on Reddit if anyone knew of a mobile mechanic that could come to our house and fix out Infiniti, someone recommended him. He answered his phone right away, listened to the issue, and came plenty prepared. Not only was he fantastic with the service he provided, he was able to get us discounts on the parts we needed, willing to work around us very close to Christmas (even offering to work ON Christmas), and it turns out he can do more than just cars. Since moving to NC, all we ever hear about is how everyone in this state has "A Guy" they know that can do fix-it/handy projects around the house. Clyde at Pass The Wrench happens to be That Guy for us now. It's rare you find someone that loves what they do and is willing to do good work at a good price without trying to swindle their customers for a quick buck. When it comes to local businesses, Pass the Wrench is exactly the sort of place I want my money going because the person running it happens to be just an all around good human. He might be based out of Raleigh, but he services all over and will come to you to fix your car. We're out in Clayton, and he came to us without issue. I will personally be recommending him to everyone I know.
