I tried to buy a 2021 Keystone Carbon 5th wheel toy hauler from Lakeshore RV this summer. It did…read morenot go well: Lakeshore defaulted on the deal in the midst of the purchase transaction, after keeping my wife and me waiting for 3 hours without explanation or apology. This despite having a signed Purchase Agreement and deposit with them. Background: We're easy customers, well-qualified, and the super low-hassle type. We did our homework, and found the exact model we wanted in stock at Lakeshore (Keystone Carbon 358), contacted the dealer, agreed on a price and trade-in, and got approved for financing via the dealer. We had planned to trade in our beloved 2008 Keystone Laredo - the trade-in number was not great, but good enough to make the deal worthwhile to have the new unit for the 2nd half of the 2021 camping season, and it would save us the bother of having to do a private sale. Lakeshore was also not able to help us with our hitch - we needed a new adapter plate for our wonderful Pullrite Superglide. Reason: "We don't do anything with hitches." Strange for a volume RV seller. After a long search in finding the right hitch plate (since I also am not a hitch specialist or RV dealer), we were ready to sign and do the deal. We cleaned out our Laredo 5th wheel, brought it to Lakeshore at the time of our appointment, and met our salesman. He "had to take care of few things" and asked us to pull our trailer around to the service department. After three hours in the waiting room, he asked me to step outside to speak privately (why not in his office?). - "They don't want to take your trailer in trade." Me: "What? Why? Are you saying I mis-represented it?" - "No, not at all. My guys just don't want it. We can still sell you the new one at full price (without your trade). I'm very sorry." What "guys?" The salesman was literally the only person who ever spoke to us. No one was around to give us an explanation, and there was no effort to re-negotiate the trade (which I probably would have agreed to). This unexpected ending happened after we were largely ignored for three hours. We sat in the waiting room, looking all very happy-new-customer-like, but no one came over to us to greet us, offer us coffee, or explain the wait, other than the occasional run-by by our salesguy telling us "I'm working on it...". For us, Lakeshore RV was a strange, almost empty and very odd-feeling place. We walked in and out of our new coach several times, and no one took any time to say hi or even make eye contact with the smiling couple clearly anticipating their fun new purchase. Dealing with Lakeshore RV was not a good experience for us. So we had a 300-mile drive (towing our current RV), an entire day wasted, and 3 hours sitting in their waiting room (without being told why we had to wait) when were literally the only customers in the place. My guess is they never wanted our unit, and hoped that "new buyer fever" would overcome us and we would do the deal for the full price. We've not heard from the dealer since then, so the bad taste from our poor experience from Lakeshore RV remains. The attached photo is right from their website. It's a lie.

I do not recommend this dealership…read more First, the coating package is a complete scam. They advertise one price, but once all the additional fees are added, you end up paying almost double. Save your money and don't buy it. The sales process was also very disappointing. The salesperson kept adding extra products and services, making the final price much higher than expected. I felt pressured into purchasing things I didn't really need. The biggest issue was that the salesperson assured me my current truck was capable of towing the camper. After I took delivery, I found out that wasn't true. I ended up having to replace my truck just to tow the camper I had purchased. I feel like I was misled, and that was extremely frustrating. To make matters worse, the very first time I used the camper, my vacation was ruined. The fresh water system appeared to be contaminated, with what looked like bug eggs in the water tanks, and the water coming out of the faucets had a terrible smell. I had to spend a good part of my trip on the phone with customer service trying to get help. Unfortunately, the customer service experience was just as disappointing. The representative I spoke with was rude and unhelpful, and the woman at the front desk treated customers with very little respect. It felt like they didn't care about resolving the issues after the sale. Overall, this has been one of the worst purchasing experiences I've had. I would not recommend doing business with this dealership. I hope my review helps others avoid the same headaches, unexpected expenses, and poor customer service that I experienced.

Buyer Beware! I would rate them zero stars if I could…read more We purchased a used trailer from Camping World in Grand Rapids, and it was a huge mistake. By the time they finished adding fees, services, and extras, the final price was substantially higher than what we expected. If you're considering buying an RV here, I strongly recommend hiring an independent RV inspector before signing anything. Camping World claims they perform a thorough inspection on every used RV before selling it. Based on our experience, I don't believe that's true. Our problems started almost immediately. Issue #1: About a week before our first major camping trip, I went to extend the slide-out and discovered there was no power from the 12-volt system. The battery was completely dead. I bought and installed a new battery, which allowed me to extend the slide, but by the next day that battery was dead too. I had to manually retract the slide and tow the RV an hour back to Camping World. Their service department found loose wires in the 110-volt connection that prevented the battery from charging. This absolutely should have been caught during any legitimate pre-sale inspection. Issue #2: Once we arrived at our campsite, we discovered the water heater didn't work. Thankfully, we had purchased the extended warranty, so it was covered--but it still took three weeks to get authorization and complete the repair. During that same trip, the black tank dump valve became stuck open because debris had been left in the tank by the previous owner. Again, the extended warranty covered the repair, but it was another unnecessary hassle that should have been prevented before the RV was sold. We also purchased the ceramic coating package, which I consider a complete waste of money. I previously sold ceramic coating products for years, so I know how they should perform when properly applied. Camping World either does not apply the product correctly or, based on what I observed, may not apply it at all. Our RV was dirty when we picked it up, with black streaks still on the exterior. After washing it, water did not bead or sheet off the surface as it should with a properly applied ceramic coating. That raised serious questions about whether the coating had ever been applied. After our second camping trip, I noticed a repaired area on the camping side of the RV. There were obvious paint runs, and graphics that exist on the opposite side were missing. You could even see the outlines where the original decals had been. Camping World denied performing the repair, but it's concerning that this damage was never disclosed. What really left a bad impression was the sales process. While we were signing the loan paperwork, several employees walked by and commented things like, "Is that RV new? It looks brand new." They all knew it wasn't new because Camping World doesn't even sell this model new. It felt like a deliberate attempt to make us feel we were getting something newer than we actually were. I returned to the dealership to give them an opportunity to make things right. The sales manager simply told me that used units are sold "as is" and refused to address any of our concerns. We also spent a significant amount of money on accessories and upgrades in their store. After this experience, we will never purchase another RV or any products from Camping World again. We'll also be sharing our experience with friends, family, and anyone considering buying from them. Do your homework, have an independent inspection performed, and be extremely cautious before purchasing a used RV from Camping World.

WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM CAMPING WORLD of Grand Rapids, MI. These people have nothing in mind other…read morethan taking advantage of their unsuspecting customers. They switched RVs on me -- and thought that I would not notice! First, they gave me a VIN to insure only to replace it with a DEFECTIVE unit afterwards. Diana Hopkins (the salesperson who helped us purchase our first RV), resigned a couple of weeks after selling us the defective RV. Josh Miller (the Financing guy) took $10,000 for a down payment only to ask for another $2,000 because they added all kinds of frivolous charges (i.e., Freight, Prep, Vehicle Service Contract, Paint Protection, Tire & Wheel Protection, Roof Protection, etc.). This is a SCAM, by the way and a lawsuit was filed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Gpx25pxdyo&t=1192s. To make matters worse, the Tire Pressure Management System (TPMS) was not working and they allowed me to drive off with underinflated tires! Very dangerous! The walkthrough was a joke (took less than 5 minutes!) and Josh Miller (the Financing Guy) was nowhere to be found -- because his job of screwing me over is done! The wheel alignment was not done properly with some kind of shady "alteration" and became a pointing-finger game between Thor Motor Coach and Ford Commercial! Three months later, the problem was still NOT FIXED -- instead recommended me to buy a "stabilizer" to help in the wobbly sensation of steering the RV! The gross part: the drain pipe for the blank and grey tank was set horizontally (instead of vertically) -- which resulted to a VERY MESSY and DISGUSTING experience -- as the fecal matters and "residue" are stuck in the hose once detached from the drain pipe. After the lengthy back-and-forth, hotel and rental car costs, not to mention the hefty price of almost losing my job because I had to beg my boss to allow me to work remotely (instead of being onsite in the state of Iowa), Camping World just "washed their hands" and pretended like I am "just another number" and would walk away quietly after they have screwed me over. Well, I have news for you, Camping World: I WILL NOT BACK DOWN AND I WILL SUE YOU AND BROADCAST TO THE WHOLE WORLD THE CRIMES YOU HAVE DONE! Thanks... BUT NO, THANKS! Dennis Dizon

Because we were 600 miles away from the dealership we went ahead and made plans to have a certified RV inspector to inspect the RV for us. The dealership made it very easy for the inspector to come and do his inspection. We had many conversations with Jeremy about the motor home and he was always knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. There were a few things that we wanted fixed on the motor home and we felt that Holland Motor Homes went above our expectations. We finally made the trip to Michigan to pick up our motor home the end of March. They made the whole process very enjoyable and stress free. We were very impressed with several items they included that we were not expecting. An entire set of bedding which included pillows, sheets and a beautiful bed spread. The day we were there to pick up our motor home we were given a thorough tutorial on all operations by Steve who answered all our questions. We would highly recommend Holland Motor Home. Problem was I had to have my deliver the 29th and I had to have it near 1:00 PM to give me time to get the new RV to my Hudsonville indoor heated storage location before they closed. Maybe the worst weather this winter tried its best to make things hard, but it failed. Patrick Brown (my salesman) did everything needed to make it happen even thought the finance lady was not there and he had to get a substitute money person to make the deal happen and he had to get the prep people to push the new coach delivery up a whole day. Patrick made everything happen and I made it to storage with 10 minutes to spare. I am not sure how the date got messed, but Terrytown and Patrick fixed everything. AS I said this is my 4 purchase from Terrytown which includes three Super C's and one B, this one was a new Super C and I traded a 2025 Sunseeker 2400B Sprinter (purchased from a different dealer) that proved to be great but just too small in the bedroom and in the storage department. All my purchases from Terrytown were for new coaches and all the purchases have been good experiences. I am 81 and have owned more than 30 new coaches. I buy and trade a lot, if I live long enough I will be back to see Patrick and Terrytown again. jond
