WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM CAMPING WORLD of Grand Rapids, MI. These people have nothing in mind other than taking advantage of their unsuspecting customers. They switched RVs on me -- and thought that I would not notice! First, they gave me a VIN to insure only to replace it with a DEFECTIVE unit afterwards. Diana Hopkins (the salesperson who helped us purchase our first RV), resigned a couple of weeks after selling us the defective RV. Josh Miller (the Financing guy) took $10,000 for a down payment only to ask for another $2,000 because they added all kinds of frivolous charges (i.e., Freight, Prep, Vehicle Service Contract, Paint Protection, Tire & Wheel Protection, Roof Protection, etc.). This is a SCAM, by the way and a lawsuit was filed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Gpx25pxdyo&t=1192s. To make matters worse, the Tire Pressure Management System (TPMS) was not working and they allowed me to drive off with underinflated tires! Very dangerous! The walkthrough was a joke (took less than 5 minutes!) and Josh Miller (the Financing Guy) was nowhere to be found -- because his job of screwing me over is done! The wheel alignment was not done properly with some kind of shady "alteration" and became a pointing-finger game between Thor Motor Coach and Ford Commercial! Three months later, the problem was still NOT FIXED -- instead recommended me to buy a "stabilizer" to help in the wobbly sensation of steering the RV! The gross part: the drain pipe for the blank and grey tank was set horizontally (instead of vertically) -- which resulted to a VERY MESSY and DISGUSTING experience -- as the fecal matters and "residue" are stuck in the hose once detached from the drain pipe. After the lengthy back-and-forth, hotel and rental car costs, not to mention the hefty price of almost losing my job because I had to beg my boss to allow me to work remotely (instead of being onsite in the state of Iowa), Camping World just "washed their hands" and pretended like I am "just another number" and would walk away quietly after they have screwed me over. They don't get back to you timely. Needed parts to fix a problem, was in a couple of times. They said they were ordering the parts and when I checked they hadn't ordered them. Warranty work repair from their installation of our brand new refrigerator has taken weeks and still haven't gotten in the repair wires to fix it. Have been working and talking to service people and just getting words to pacify until I call to check.. paid for many different services and am still waiting for repairs. Thank you Camping World of Grand Rapids, MI! We visited on the busiest weekend of the year - Memorial Day Weekend. We had an idea of what we were looking for, but needed expert guidance. Jon, our sales rep, was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, flexible and took his time taking us to see every model we needed to make an educated decision on our RV. Collin and Josh in the finance department assisted us through the process, and helped us with our credit union, closing, and were so wonderful to work with. I wouldn't even give this place 1 star but I had too. The service guy that we dealt with is an incompetent, lying piece of work (that is not the word I wanted to use) and his manager is no better for backing him up. We had an issue back in October going Halloween Camping and never made it because our windshield decided it wanted to separate from the frame of the RV. These fools left it OUTSIDE yes OUTSIDE!It rained, poured, snowed and the cab area got soaked!!!!! STUPID FOOLS!! This had been repaired by previous owner and we had no issues until now but can we NOT make matters worse by exposing it to Michigan Weather. And for the love of God lock our stuff up. And when you tell a customer you're going to winterized their camper for them and that we didn't have to worry about it 3 times DO IT! Thanks to this moron our pipes froze and water heater is destroyed I guess we won't be going camping ever again but hey thanks for taking care of our RV IDIOT!! This place is garbage. I attempted to sell them my camper and was upfront and honest about what it needed and they gave me a quote. I spent time and money to drop it off for inspection and they lowballed me 10K from the original quote. Stay away from this place. Management is dirty and shady. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE TO BE SERVICED! We brought our RV in to have the air conditioning fixed. A simple fix that required a new unit to be ordered and installed. It is now one month later and we still do not have our rv back due to them making the vehicle undriveable because they accidentally cut wires for the restraint system that they weren't supposed to. We went to pick up the vehicle, but were shock to find that it was undriveable once we got in. They knew this and still handed us the keys and tried to send us on our way. A week and a half later, they still have not made an attempt to fix this or expedite service on a problem that they created. So again, DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE TO BE SERVICED. read more

The communication and concept of time seems to be missing from this place. I am really disappointed. The Salesmen only care about getting your money for the down payment and getting your information, so that you can't backout of anything once you realize that the follow-up and follow-through are non-existent. The process that has taken them a week is really only a 2 day process. The lack of caring for a customer's situation is wild. MY FAMILY AND I JUST HAD A HOUSE FIRE AND LOST EVERYTHING!!! Brought our RV in on June 9 for a repair estimate. Even had to make an appointment. At the time, Frank told me that it might be a week or so before I could get a quote because they had changed computer programs. After three phone calls, in July and August, no response, even though I was told Eric would call me! To date, still have no estimate! Mid August went to Metal Works Restoration in Coopersville and had an estimate, insurance approval and parts ordered within a week! Had our RV ready for camping a week later!! I have been waiting for many months to write a review because I was hoping things would turn around, but the honest truth is, the people at this company are not good people. There were a couple of things wrong with our camper upon deciding to buy it. But we were ASSURED they would be taken care of when we came in to sign for it. Then at signing, we were assured by 2 others that the issues would be fixed by delivery. Even with a call in to make sure things were happening, delivered and come to find out problems were not even addressed AFTER 3 TIMES them telling us they were being taken care of. THIS WAS OCTOBER! Now, after several times being put off, it April and our camper is in for repair. Been there for almost a month and still not done! I wouldn't give them a star but I had to give something. Went in to buy a new camper on Sunday and salesperson was "supposedly" working on financing and "will call when done". By Wednesday and several texts back and forth I was handed off to Tony-another salesman who informed me that my original salesman had gone on vacation for a week, mind you he had done nothing to secure a loan for me. By Thursday I called them and the manager and finance manager were rude and laughing that no work had been done. If I could give a negative rating I would. My husband and I Have called there service department 20 times and have yet to have a call back. They have had our camper since before Memorial Day for the part the keeps the battery charged when plugged in. There excuse was that they won't order the part until they get the ok from warranty. I told they to order it because we can't use it without it and if it isn't covered by warranty we will pay for it. Still no order and it is July 28. They have had our camper for 2 months. We were very disappointed with our service during winterizing our camper. In order to empty our fresh water tank the ran the water through the kitchen sink, but didn't check to see if the stopper was out. Needless to say, the kitchen sick over flowed and the water went into our camper. Although they "dried" it as best they could, we found it still full of water and spent 2 days drying it out. After they charged us and sent us on our way, we never heard back from them. To say the least, we are VERY disappointed and frustrated with the service we received. read more

I remember the job that made me hate being in sales. I was expected to do whatever it took to "close the deal", there was a list of canned questions and responses, and instructions like "do not ask close-ended questions" etc... The people coming through the doors of the business weren't customers, they were numbers to get sales. That was nearly 20 years ago and luckily I've come across very few places that still employ sleazy sales techniques. These techniques are alive and well at Camping World. This company will never get one cent from me. My husband and I are in the market for a fifth-wheel or pull-along to take with us to the Southwest. With the housing market being a bit tight right now we haven't exactly been finding a home or piece of land out there that we'd like to buy, and naturally it's difficult to want to close on a home or lot without being able to physically see it. We'd really like to be out in the area so we've talked about selling (or keeping, whichever) our home in the Midwest and just going out to the area we want to be in and living in our trailer until we buy a home or start building one. Last week we started looking at local dealers and then decided to expand our search so we headed up to Camping World, we had just come back from Arizona and had been seeing CW locations all over the place so we thought it would be worth the trip. I had a slight feeling of dread when I walked in and saw the sales area, they have cubicles just like car dealers do, and you can't just walk out and start looking, there's this contrived act that includes checking in, having two people with super sugary "fake nice" hospitality offer you coffee or water 2-3 times even though you've already declined. And then you go back and meet with a sales rep. So, we let the sales rep know what we were looking for and he went out to the lot with us until he had an unexpected guest show up and he just *had* to go back to the office to deal with it. That left my husband and I unable to ask questions about certain things, and trying to figure things out on our own, not the hardest thing to do, but at that point I knew that while our $$$ was important, creating a relationship with us and taking the time to help out two first-time trailer owners, was not. I ended up finding the fifth-wheel of my dreams on my own while the hubs and I were out meandering around, it wasn't even on our list of trailers to view even though it was right in the middle of our price-point and had nearly every feature I could have wanted. I hate being too enthusiastic about something when I can tell the sales experience is already aggressive. We went back into the office to talk about the fifth-wheel I had found, and even though we were still going to look at some other dealers and I had a couple of favorites to re-visit. While we were sitting with our sales rep we were going over a few things with him on his computer screen on our profile when I could see a text conversation he was having about us in the background with another rep or sales manager, I'm not sure. They were coaching him to ask something along the lines of, "What would stop you from buying today if you found what you wanted?" Which is what our rep had asked us word for word while we were in another unit with him. That was irritating enough, I just wanted to leave after that. I'm not going to drop tens of thousands of dollars at a place that has this mentality towards customers. When I hear those sales tactics it takes me back to my college days when guys would use stupid pickup lines. We were trying to get up to leave and our sales rep, Alec, said he wanted to go check with his sales desk just to see if anything else was coming in soon that we'd be interested in and want to look at. We both told him it was cool, we were really interested in the unit I had found but we'd have a decision made by the end of the week. But he was very insistent and told us he was just going to go back there to ask about a few things for us. That's not even what he was doing, he went back and when he returned his sales manager was with him and I could tell he had come out to really try and lay it on thick. Irritated doesn't even begin to cover it. We had also told him my husband was dealing with slipped discs in his back and we needed to go, but that didn't seem to matter. At that point I knew I was done with Camper World. So, I had forgotten they said they would follow up with my husband. Earlier today he received a phone call or text asking about financing and closing on a unit. Financing... We told them we were paying cash. Great active listening skills and attention to detail there guys. But of course if you were actually a customer-driven company that wouldn't have happened. I wish Yelp would let me post an eye roll emoji because this would be the perfect review to have it in. read more

Very pleased with my service on my motor home. Brandon took the time to show me what caused the problem and showed me how to fix it if it happened again. This was on an extremely busy Saturday when he was swamped with customers getting ready for fthe first big camping weekend. Have to say I need to update this. Had them dewinterize my motorhome this spring (2019)and had to wait a month for them to do it. Hours were not convenient for working people. Then to top it off they left the valve open on the fresh water tank. Thank goodness we found someone at the campground that knew how to close it or we would have had to have someone come onsite to fix. Definitely a big change in service after Camping World took over. I had to take it somewhere else to be winterized last fall because again hours for working people were terrible and I would have had to wait several weeks to make an appointment. I took it to another dealer who had no appointment Saturday winterizing. Much more convenient. read more

I had a issue with my camper just over the 1 year mark and the GM Rodd Rumsey went above and beyond. I'm very happy with the out come and the professional service I received. Don't be afraid to ask for the manager if your not happy. I feel Rodd did listen to my side . He made a bad situation better. I left a satisfied customer and would buy there again if everyone is as understanding as the GM. Just as I was hooking up my electric Jack was not working. A young man came out and fixed it right up. BE PREPARED TO WAIT AROUND ON JERKY, DEVIOUS PEOPLE I purchased a used RV from Camping World Grand Rapids for cash. (I did not finance it). Clearly, these jerks are not used to dealing with female customers, nor are they accustomed to cash purchases. Their customer service is abysmal and their business ethics unacceptable. (1) I informed the salesman when I would be coming and that is when I arrived. The salesman was not even there and the people had been told a different time. I had to wait an hour before even being helped. The salesman should have set that up better. (2) After my walkthrough of the trailer I bought, I had to wait another 15-20 minutes for the "finance" guy - which is odd. I paid cash. He spent 45 minutes going over this "Good Sam" thing that probably could be explained in a brochure or email. He then (finally) started the title paperwork, only to tell me that someone from the dealership would be taking paperwork to the DMV that same day and I would need to wait around for that individual. I had already been there for 3 hours!! And not only had I never heard of making a customer wait while someone from the dealership goes to the DMV (what the heck!!), but neither had three of the employees in the reception area. Very, very fishy. Very shady. With a cash purchase, I should have been able to take the title and be on my way. (3) When I demanded to see a supervisor about the extremely fishy, extremely shady pending DMV trip, I met with Matt Wilson. I informed him that I had already been there for three hours, that I had driven two hours to be there, that I should not need to meet with the finance department at all since I was paying cash, and that I was also accompanied by my father who was physically compromised and equally exhausted in the waiting room, Matt Wilson was not only terribly rude, but he then asked me, "should we be putting your father on the paperwork?" I am 50 years old, making this purchase independently. That is deeply insulting a statement and it is way, way out of line. (4) I met general manager Chad Neff in the waiting room. He asked me what he could do to make the situation right, and I told him he could begin by apologizing to my father for making him wait. He walked out to our vehicle, shook my dad's hand, and thanked HIM for his business. Not me. Not the actual customer. (5) Needless to say, I deeply regret my purchase. I had a roof replaced on my 2013 30' camper there last September. Took them 2 months, finally done in November, just in time to put in storage. This spring I found that they didn't do it correctly, had a low spot where water pooled in that spot on the roof. I called and was told "it's normal". Huh? I brought it back on June 28, 2021, to have the service manager, Doug Devries, who's no longer there, reviewed it. He agreed that it needed to be redone. Scheduled it for July 27, dropped it and was told it'd take 2 weeks. Great. Today is Aug 11, they still do not have it scheduled nor know where it will be have it done. So my camper has been sitting there going on 3rd week and I don't see it'll get done in the next few weeks. The bottom line is, do not bring your rv or camper to Camping World for repairs, unless you don't plan on using your camper. read more

Very disappointed with my shopping experience at Camping World Grand Rapids. They pulled a "bait and switch" on us. Made an appointment to see a 2022 RV that was on the web. Spoke to Scott on the phone and we exchanged emails. Told him that anchor hooks for child car seats were important to me. When we arrived on July 4, he took us to see a 2023 of the same model (he did not tell us this was not the RV from the website ad) and we looked at it in detail - it has child seat anchors. Went into showroom, negotiated a price and were talking financing. Then time for test drive - we went back out to the RV (he said we'd have to walk even though several golf carts were sitting right there) and when we got in, he said he had the wrong key. He went back to the building - a younger salesman came out - we could see no purpose for this as he didn't do anything and just told us Scott was on his way. Scott pulled up in the 2022 model and said we'd test drive that one. It was dirty and did not have child seat tethers. I said I don't want to buy that one. Back to the show room, and then the switch - the price we negotiated and I signed did not apply to the 2023, which we were led to believe was the one I had communicated with Scott about prior to our trip (70 mile drive for us to visit this rip off) and we tried to negotiate again. Eventually, the manager came over an offered us a price $2,000 above what was previously negotiated. I said no - he refused to honor the price we had already negotiated. Either Scott is incompetent and does not know their inventory - or it was an attempt to swindle us into buying an RV that was not what we were led to believe. July 19, 2021 We bought a used pop-up camper three weeks ago from Camping World in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We've been waiting for the permanent plate that they said they would get for us. Our temporary plate has expired. We just found out today that they're waiting for the clear title to "come in the mail" so they can get us the plate and necessary paperwork. So we spent over $14,000 on a camper that we can't use. I'm not positive, but I didn't think it was legal for a dealership to sell a vehicle that they didn't have clear title to. read more

I called on Friday, June 26 to set an appointment. Because of Covid they said they were so busy that they couldn't see me till the seventh. Since I was visiting my brother I thought maybe I can make that work. When I arrived on the seventh they told me they wouldn't look at it till the next day. On the 10th of July, today after multiple unreturned calls they told me they would get to it today. But they weren't going to make any promises. It's a water leak. Can you call me back in an hour and tell me you found it and fixed it? Or whether or not it's a part you need to order? No if I don't call you today I'll get somebody else to call you tomorrow. So greatly disappointed in our experience! We went very open & honest if we couldn't get what we wanted in our budget it was ok. We spent hours waiting for financial to respond if it's possible. They came back no. So said ok and left the store. In the parking lot the sales man comes running out management said they'll make it happen. My husband asked "within our budget?" He said yes. We spent more hours waiting for financing to do paper work. Total of 6 hours in store!!! We get an email congrats on new camper got financed send paperwork. We did it. Every time we sent in paper work we didn't get a response that it was received and had to ask several times. The day before we are to go buy the new camper my husband couldn't get a call back to make sure all set. I had to email managers to get a response. 30 mins before close we get a call have to have $9,000 more down and $200 over our budget a month! Unacceptable! We had all ready moved and emptied our camper off the site based on email that said all finance was set & had campgrounds cut a tree so new one would fit. I made complaints to cooperate and regional because this is bad business! I did get a call from manager would give me a new camper but still over budget and not the layout I want. You don't tell us can do it and then be so far off the agreement! I am getting a new camper & will never buy from them for their snake like behavior! read more

My husband and I went to canning world to buy a travel trailer. We spent 3 hours there while they did whatever. Antonio was our salesperson. He was nice and easy to work with but it was saturday so we had to wait for the finance person and we were told monday or tuesday at the latest we will hear from him. We waited until thursday and called them.the person we talked to was very rude and said " we can't get the financing" ??? Then we get a call on Friday that we were approved no problem. Just had to set up an appointment with finance. They would call us with a time. Never heard back from them. Called them three times only got voice mail. Now it's been 2 weeks . The management team needs to be restructured. I drove over 160 miles to visit this location twice in a weeks time. We found 2 campers we liked there. When I asked for a quote on both, our sales rep said she is sorry they will not give me quote unless I agree to put a deposit down. I argued on that and I spoke with her manager. He reluctantly agreed to price me but was busy and asked us to wait. We said ok and waited for about 45mins. We decided to get lunch so we asked our sales rep to call us with a quote when she got the numbers from her boss. She called an hour after we left and said her manager waited for us to leave and told her there wasn't much he was willing to do. She said he refused to quote me because I left. 4 other RV dealers had no issues quoting us. Not sure what game they are playing. Now I'm mad so I reach out to this Marcus VIP complaint line that's supposed to get some resolutions done. The person I had an issue with calls me after reading the email I sent. Someone other then him should have called me. Regardless I finally spoke with the GM there and he was a joke. Worst experience ever. Worse then buying a used car. Claimed he was offering me a deal by saying hes knocking a 1000 off the price listed on line. He didn't realize the price already dropped online and quoted me the exact price listed. Don't waste your time complaining to there hotline. Nothing is going to happen. They don't Care! Train your staff, learn some customer service, and be honest. Don't lie! First off, my wife and I went to the RV show in Grand Rapids MI this past January. Camping World gave us some VIP passes with free admission which was nice. We were given a quick tour of a few of their models and went about our way thru the show. I have had some phone calls and texts from them since the show. No, we did not buy anything at the show. I agreed to a 1 pm tour this past Saturday at their 76th St location. We arrived at 12:50 pm. We went to the check in desk and were eventually greeted by John (?). Was told, salesman was with another customer and to go look around. Wife and I did just that, and liked 2 models in the outside lot. Went back in at 2:15 because no one came looking for us for our appt. We were told Andrew was on his way back. Waited a few more minutes walking around inside, met Sam the Sales mgr. Told him we saw 2 models we liked, but we also had a 3pm appt elsewhere (not an RV store) so we had to leave. I called this morning, asked for Sam but was told he was not in. Was to be transferred to the General mgr, but he was busy on a call. I left my name and number with receptionist. I got a call back shortly after from Patrick, the internet mgr. He was very apologetic. I told him our short story and that there were 2 models we had an interest in. Gave him the info and now we have a 3:30 pm appt. Hoping this goes very well or it will be time to shop elsewhere. By the way, I am very patriotic and love the huge American flag flying proudly outside for all to see. Horrible place. Run away. They put the wrong awning on our camper and then refused to fix it. Told me no one made what we were promised. Total lie. I found exactly what we were promised in 5 minutes on my iPad. Would they fix it? Nope. Just wanted to sell me an extended warranty and get me out of there so they could "make their numbers for the month". I will NEVER go back and will think of them every time I roll out my awning. My husband and I were in the market for a new travel trailer. We had gone around the corner to another dealer and also called this Camping World. They said all these things to get us to come in there, we ended up finding a camper, signed paperwork (after an hour and 20 min of approval stuff), got a date to come pick it up, DOWN PAYMENT and they put a sold sign on it all before we left. Three days later we get a call saying they couldn't finance us. Huh? We went through all the steps and were approved around the corner (for much more and a better trailer). Called and called the salesperson that day with no answer but left messages. They sent a letter though. What kind of business does that?? Needless to say, we went back around the corner and got the nicer trailer and with a company who was responsive and friendly. We found our perfect Winnebago trailer and the fantastic staff at Camping World made it possible for us to road trip from PA for this purchase. We were met with congratulations and the process went fairly smooth. Everyone we dealt with, from the friendly receptionist to the helpful and knowledgeable sales team, finance team and technician. We were given full attention and support in walking through the unit and were given a thorough overview. We did have to follow up often to get the documentation needed to secure our financing (since we didn't go through them). One thing we would have liked to see was a better detail job inside the trailer. While the trailer is in great shape and relatively clean, it could have been detailed a little better. Wish I could leave no stars! We love our camper we purchased through them but the sales department is unbelievably horrible!!!! Still after months of calling we can't get our paper work from them. We have been told over and over it is in its way aswell as stuff that was missing on the camper after it was delivered. They were great at asking for our money but left us (still) hanging once they got the sale. Very very very disappointed with them! Will never purchase through them again! read more

We stopped in this Camping World location to pick up a few random items during the summers of 2019 and 2021, and had poor experiences each time. When it came time to purchase our brand new Rockwood Roo in October, we made the drive to the Houghton Lake location instead -- where everyone was exceptionally helpful and kind. We had the best purchasing experience! Since then, I made one visit to this GR location to make a major purchase of accessories (December 2021) and made a call to the service department today (April 2022) and had very discouraging experiences related to customer service both times. Representatives were dismissive and condescending, and gave us information directly contradicting what we had been told by customer service reps in Houghton Lake. We'd rather make a 2 1/2 hour drive north than visit our local location -- which says a lot. I wish Good Sam/corporate Camping World could get this location turned around to match the caliber and customer experience of the store up north. read more

My wife and I recently purchased a new RV from Camping World of G.R. This place is a "Class Act"! We are very happy with our purchase. The staff took the time to make sure we were comfortable and understood everything. We found a defective component after our first trip and contacted Brandon in the Service Dept. He offered us a replacement and made sure we were taken care of immediately. Every contact we have with the dealership is outstanding! We would recommend this place to everyone. read more

i want to warn the public about camping world. We bought our trailer from them them and the first time out we had a leak. We took it back and payed for it as it was about the same as the deductible. We camped a few more times and had no trouble. The following year we went camping once in the summer and noticed the flooring where the leak was, was spongy when we stepped on it. This was the first we noticed that problem. Did not take it out again and set up to have it readied for winter and check that spot. We got insurance through camping world, national general insurance. This should of been taken care of by the insurance but when the insurance company called camping world they told them we should of brought it in sooner so the insurance would not cover it. We took it in as soon as we had the leak (called them we were in Kentucky camping, shut off the water and called them made the appointment for when we returned). So they got it right away.... didn't say we were going to have trouble with it and it should have further work done. We did not know that the floor was going to get spongy so was surprised when it did. They totally threw us under the bus. read more
