Last year, I dropped my machine off at this store for repairs. I was on my way out of town for my mother's memorial, and was trying to keep up a cheerful front. Unfortunately, the woman I will only refer to as "B" decided that I do not actually deserve my own machine. She chastised me when I told her the problem my machine was having, and even BATTED MY HAND AWAY when I went to touch my own machine. As I was leaving, I playfully said "Goodbye" to my machine and "B" literally rolled her eyes at me. I could not bring myself to go back to that store, so my husband retrieved my machine, but I've been so upset about "B"s behavior that I haven't even touched the machine for the past year. UPDATE DECEMBER 4, 2023: MISSION CRITICAL CORRECTION! This is a correction to my last update re: the Windsor Kärcher (W-K) S2 12 HEPA Vacuum. The proper reset procedure when the vacuum shuts off and shows the orange "check brush" is. 1...FIRST unplug 2...THEN remove clog from brush area 3...Depress yellow foot operated off/on switch to reset "check brush" (should see indicator change from orange to white) 4...Replug 5...Resume vacuuming I had steps one and two reversed in my last update. One should NEVER service a vacuum while it's plugged in! BUT MY W-K WENT KAPUT AGAIN! Also, I've had to bring this vacuum in again because the "check brush" indicator came on again while vacuuming today. This time I could not find a clog in the brush area, nor could I reset it per step 3. The indicator would turn from orange to white after resetting it (while not plugged in). But then after I plug it in again, and tried turning it on, it turns orange again, and the machine will not stay on. Also, while trying to work on it myself before I brought it in today, the little yellow spring-loaded trap door at the bottom of the floorhead came loose. AND SO IT'S BACK TO THE VAC SHACK JACK And so I had Jesse look at it again, hoping I could have a free come back repair. But since it's been two months since I had it in last time, he told me it would cost $70 to fix the problem which would require removing the brushroll. Removing the brushroll on this model is "not easy." The time period for no charge comebacks is 30 days. This is reasonable. But he had no problem with reinstalling the yellow trap door for no charge, saying that was easy. So I had him only reinstall the trap door. THEREFORE IT'S TIME TO OFFER IT UP! But I've decided that since this model requires a complicated procedure, just to remove the brushroll (with Bissells, Hoovers, Dirt Devils, Eurekas, and even Sharks, that was easy) and that the yellow trap door came loose while I was not trying to remove it (last time, I removed it on purpose, but was not able to get it back on.), I therefore decided that I am going to Offer it Up (probably for free) to anyone who is adept at working on this model, especially if that person is an aficionado of W-K vacuums. Anyway, I have 4 upright vacuums and I need to declutter. So it's just as well. read more

I went in since they were having a sale on sewing machines. I wanted to buy a cheap one since my old machine had dies a while back. Well... I got such great service and help trying out machines I decided to buy a $700 sewing machine! The sales person I worked with was very knowledgeable and friendly. She even let me know I could call anytime if I was struggling for some help. A few weeks after my purchase I even got a handwritten thank you card! They have hand sanitizer and masks are required I felt safe shopping there. read more

This is a great neighborhood shop for sewing and vacuum supplies and repairs. I had an issue with my Miele vacuum, and the Miele sales room recommended I bring it here. They were very attentive when I entered and promised a 7 day return on my repair. Not only did they beat that by a day, but it turned out that my vacuum head was not detective. They didn't even charge me for the diagnosis, but also the repair guy called me back after I picked up my vacuum head to further explain what may have happened with my vacuum. So even though they didn't make a dime off me, they were still willing to spend the time to make sure I was educated on my vacuum. Next time I need either a new vacuum or vacuum repair, I'm definitely coming here! read more

When the beater brush on my canister vacuum stopped operating, and YouTube wasn't helpful, I dropped by Quality Sewing and Vacuum. The vacuum drop off is surrounded by the sewing shop and on this day, Quality Sewing was buzzing with a class. It took a bit for the vacuum specialist to get out from the workshop to assist me. After waiting a bit, entertained by the buzz and activity of sewers, a woman came over to get me logged in. She was there teaching a class on her day off but astoundingly cheerful and helpful. The "vacuum guy" showed up, asked me a few questions, plugged the machine in, hit the reset button, and guess what? Problem fixed! I felt like an idiot as I didn't even know there was a reset button to reset. The man was so pleasant, refused payment, and totally reset the tone of my day. I didn't ask the man his name, so I can't use it, but he was marvelous. It had been a very stressful day for me. Leaving the shop, I had the feeling of human connection, generosity, and goodness. A group of friends and I bought a Groupon a few months back for the intro to sewing class to make a tote bag. We had an AWESOME time! The class went a little over 3 hours. Coming from someone who is very new to sewing, the class was fun, informative, and allowed all of us to interact with each other and take plenty of pictures during the class. Here is my breakout of the pro's and con's: Pro's: 1) Did not feel rushed at all during the class to complete the tote bag. 2) When setting up the machine, the instructor made the instructions very clear and made sure we were all on the same page before we even began to sew. 3) Considering we all bought the Groupon to attend the class, it was DEFINITELY worth the money! Con's: 1) I know each person goes on a different pace, but eventually half of the group fell behind and the other half kept chugging forward. It would've been great to get plenty of instruction since I was one of the ones that fell behind (we had to learn the next steps from our other friends who went ahead rather than the instructor). 2) This is very minor, but I wish on the tote bag we were able to sew more than one initial. 3) It would've been awesome to have even more choices for the inside fabric liner for the tote bag. Overall, I am very looking forward to buying another Groupon to do another class. Even without the Groupon, I definitely think the sewing class is well worth the money! read more

Quality Sewing is very aptly named. It's got the best quality of products, people and service. I've used a couple other sewing machine shops around the country and they cannot compare to the high-class advice, service and machines I've gotten from Quality. I even bypassed several Houston shops when I wanted to buy my Houston sis a machine and purchased through Quality. Sure, it took a little longer for her to get it, but I know she's got the Quality name behind her if anything goes sideways. There are dozens of shops selling the same thing, but with the exemplary service from Quality, you know you're getting the best. Had an amazing experience taking my first sewing class at this location. Nancy was teaching the class, and she was a delight! She was funny, and very patient. She took the time to spend time with each individual that was there, even though she had to explain things over and over. She didn't seem to mind. She was encouraging, and very very helpful. I only wish she taught at other locations! Bellevue is out of the way for me. I plan on coming back for more classes for sure! so glad they have so many different locations, makes it a lot easier to stay consistent with sewing and learning new techniques. I ordered a set of luggage for my Brother machine online and the ad for it states it is "designed to easily store, and transport your machine" and is "large enough to hold an embroidery arm." It does not mention any particular Brother machine so I assumed it would hold mine. Neither the machine luggage nor the embroidery arm luggage worked with my Brother machine. When I called to return it, I was informed they would send me a return label but I would have to pay the charge for the shipping. I will say they quickly credited it to me upon return; however, I did not see this should have been the way to handle this considering the ad does not cite any particular machines the luggage fits or does not fit. read more

I've had a machine I have hated since the day I bought it, and so haven't done much sewing in the last few years (since it meant getting super frustrated with the machine I had). After a ton of research, I came in knowing what I wanted. (I would love to own an industrial machine, but live in a carpeted apartment, so a machine with an oil pan is pretty much out of the question -- I landed on the Juki "TL" series.) They didn't have the exact model I was looking for (since it's over a year old now) but they did have the newest model. Kathy was very patient in sitting me down in front of the machine and letting me test it out. I ended up going home with it. :) Since bringing it home a few weeks ago, I have started and finished nearly a dozen projects. No complaints whatsoever with the machine. It's so wonderful to ENJOY sewing again! For those of you looking for an industrial machine experience, but portable, I highly recommend the TL-2200QVP Mini. read more

I just bought a sewing machine off of Amazon and was so excited to use it. However, as soon as I opened it, I thought, "WTH is this...and this...and this? Uhhh, I guess I'll just put it away for now until I figured out what I'm doing..." I watched a lot of videos on YouTube on tips on how to sew, but considering all the additional tools and supplies you would have to buy just to get started, simply doing trial-and-error off of a YouTube clip was just not enough for me to risk failed projects. The other day, I found that there was a Quality Sewing and Vacuum Groupon for a beginner's sewing class for less than $20. They have several locations to choose from to take your class, but I decided on this one just because they had one spot left for a class the week I bought my Groupon and I was super excited to get started right away! When I walked in, I told them I was there for the sewing class and they seated me in a section in the back of the store with eight sewing machines. The woman leading the class was an employee named Nancy and she mentioned that she had been quilting for several years. It was supposed to be a full class of eight people, but because of the beautiful weather outside, we assumed that the other four ditched, which was great for those of us that did go because then we didn't have to wait so long for the instructor to come around and check if we were doing all the steps correctly. It really is kinda scary and intimidating at first, but this class really gets your feet in the water without worrying too much since you practically have a lifeguard on duty. You honestly could have walked in without having turned on or plugged in a sewing machine before. They provide the machine, the fabric for your project, and all the tools and materials you'd need to make your project (which was a tote bag) for the class. And honestly, I thought that I would fail at this project, but at the end of class, I walked out with my very own lined tote bag!!! No joke! I showed my friends my first completed sewing project and they were really impressed in what I accomplished in this one class! Plus, they gave us a copy of the instructions on how to remake it if we ever wanted to make them again. For those that wanted to know, the model sewing machine we worked with was a Brother 950D, which Nancy mentioned is pretty foolproof. The machine will "tell" you when it's happy or when something happens to it that it doesn't like and throw back an error message. It was a very user-friendly machine and I wish I could have brought it home, but even with the opportunity to take the one I worked with home at a discounted price, it was still a little pricey for me. Not a lot of people have reviewed the sewing classes at Quality Sewing and Vacuum, so I figured I'd put my two cents in about them. It is worth the price, especially if you can get the Groupon. And from what Nancy mentioned to us, the company just started teaching sewing classes about a year or so ago. I loved every minute of it aside from the small feeling like they're using this class to bait you to buy this pretty expensive machine. But they were never too pushy! You should definitely check it out if you want to get a taste of sewing as a hobby! read more

Bought the groupon for intro to sewing class. They should rename it to 'make a bag' class. here are my gripes: 1. Being a brand new sewing enthusiast, I knew just about how to thread my sewing machine and make a straight stich. The class included nothing about the machine parts, features etc, although it is supposed to help you become familiar with the machine. 2. The description also said we could bring our own sewing machine. But the teacher had already set up fancy, $600 sewing machines and flat out told us that we would be better off using those. I was hoping to get more comfortable on mine than use a fancy machine where everything happens with a button and a screen. 3. There was no information on why we were using whatever stiches we selected to make the bag. 4. At the end of it, the teacher tried quite hard to sell those fancy sewing machines. Most of us couldn't even understand our beginner machine, you think we'll splurge a fortune on it? An interesting concept, but needs a lot more work to be done right. read more

Stopped by this place as they are authorized brothers sewing machine dealer to trade in my existing 2 months old brothers machine for a different one. Nancy from the store greeted us and said yes they do trading. Sewing machines in the shop have sale price written on them. So one knows what the price is by just browsing through the shop. When we pointed at a machine and said we would like this machine and asked her what would be the trading value? She answered they will take our machine but we won't be getting any value for it. Really? And she tried to put it in a way as if they are doing us a favor by taking our new (2 months old) machine. She didn't even look once at what machine we wanted to trade. Didn't even check if we paid $50 or $1000 for machine. Very offensive. Why hire someone like Nancy who thinks customers are dumb and stupid? I assume shop owners are there to sell their product and not offend and turn away potential customers. i hope brothers will consider this for their future dealerships. read more

Since I'm in the market for a new sewing machine, I was delighted to happen across this sew-n-vac while thrifting in Bellevue. I went inside intending to ask questions and get a feel for the machines. Since I live in Seattle I certainly wasn't planning to buy in Bellevue. In fact, I was probably going to buy online, as it's usually a couple hundred dollars cheaper, right? Well yes. But then I sat down with Nancy D. She had great info, showed me machines in my stated price range, compared them to more expensive machines ('cause it's nice to know) and didn't get offended when I asked straight up why I should buy from her when online would be cheaper. Things like free classes on using the machine, funny little inside tips like 'oh, you don't like the color of this Brother machine? Well, the Babylock is the exact same thing, just with a different cover, do you like this color better?' and a really nice service agreement option have swayed me. In addition, while we were talking, every customer that came in was greeted by other staff like a friend. I love supporting a well done business. and I can hardly wait for my new machine to get here! read more

I sent in my steam carpet cleaner for repair last summer. They looked at my vacuum, which were broken after used about 3-4 times, and left alone for 3-4 years. The gentleman determined it was the motor and called around the distributors for me. Although the part was out of stock and I eventually had to dispose of it, I was impressed with their quality of service. Best of all, they did not charge me anything after all this work. read more

Very disappointing experience with a Meile vacuum. Paid $1200 for the Upright 300 and got a heavy, clunky, vacuum that won't even pick up dirt along the wall. I had a Dyson and loved it, but after 4 years if broke. So I decided to try a Meile. Big mistake. I tried to take it back and Ouality wouldn't refund my money. They gave me a $100 gift card to use on bags. Then after a year the on/off button broke. Quality repaired it but really, broken after a year? They again refused to do ANYTHING to help. So I went out and bought a Dyson and love it!!! I would not shop at Quality again read more

I had an issue with an old machine that I've started using again for projects. Pamela was amazing! She immediately took a look at the machine and fixed it right there for me. Very nice and patient in showing me where and why the machine was having some issues. We then looked at some of the newer machines and determined which one would be the best fit for me. I bought a used Singer sewing machine from a coworker as a birthday gift to myself than came with only one presser foot. I went here to try to buy some extra feet for it and found out that my sewing machine was of an older model that they didn't carry feet for. I special ordered the feet from them. They told me it would be two weeks and they would call me when they came in. I called today, because it had been almost a month and found out they had no record of my order whatsoever! I had trouble with my 32-year old Kenmore sewing machine. I couldn't even sew a single straight stitch without it coming to a hault and with a tangled mess of threds from the bottom spool. It was by pure chance I saw the store sign, and pulled in without having called in advance. I was immediately greeted and was told that yes indeed, they would be able to take a look at this for me right away while I waited. Wow. The young lady who helped me, Kiara, was friendly and very efficient; with a screwdriver took off some parts and cleaned the machine (I don't honestly remember ever having that done before...) and then oiled it for me. She fixed the tension and voila! the machine acted like new again. All this only took 15-20 minutes, and when I was ready to pay I was told there was no charge for this!!!! I went back when I had a minor issue (caused by some pretty aggressive sewing), and they helped me get going again, at no charge! My nineteen years old Viking Sewing machine had a few problems so I took it in for repair. I am extremely pleased, it is just like new. I could never replace the machine for the price of a tuneup and parts. It was returned with a sample of most of the stitches so it is obvious everything works properly. It was finished a few days before the promised date also. I highly recommend their repairman. read more
