After I had contacted and interviewed at least four different heating companies and/or independent contractors, it was refreshing to talk to and hire Qualtech Heating & Cooling of Danville. From the outset, Erika, who answered the office phone also answered all of my questions about the various types of heating units they offer per my building type. Accordingly, I was able to decide what type of heating units that I needed to purchase and have installed at my property in Oakland. We discussed my budget, durability of products, product warranties, and workmanship. They sent one of their representatives over, free of charge, to actually see the property, to see the current heating units, take measurements, and discuss the exact type of units they could obtain and install for me. Shortly after their representative met with me, I received a written estimate in my email. Therefore, there were no surprises in terms of the type of heating units I would receive, the total cost of the products and labor, the duration of the job as well as their handling certain tear-out and carpentry matters that are associated with removing decades' old floor furnaces and replacing them with modern ones. The installers, Abraham and Erie, came to the job site as scheduled, and they did not mind my staying and watching them work. They did excellent work given the age of the property and the tight spaces they had to maneuver. They were very professional, yet cordial. Also, everything was done in one day--two units with a new floor furnace for each. This was great because it allowed me to Noticed my Tenants once, and we didn't have to overly intrude in their space and usurp their time. During this recent heat wave, our AC unit suddenly started blowing only hot air. Our thermostats in the house was reading 86-89 degrees. With two elderly parents visiting, my wife and I were very concerned with the living conditions in our home. Since we still had our home warranty after buying our home less than a year ago, we felt relieved that we can take care of this problem immediately. Unfortunately, we were told that we would not be serviced until 3 days later which was unacceptable. I decided I rather pay out of pocket than wait for my home warranty services. My first call was to Qualtech Heating and Cooling in Danville, CA. Ericka understood my situation and acknowledged my concerns. They were able to book us the next day but also stated that they would call if their technicians are able to come earlier. The next day, we received a phone call that the technicians will be arriving in 5-10minutes of the estimated time I was booked for. The technicians Elijah and Omar arrived on time and presented themselves in a professional manner. After listening to my AC problems, they evaluated my unit, quickly diagnosed the problem and explained why the unit was only blowing hot air. Prior to any work, they presented me with the cost of the repair. Within a few minutes, our AC was up and running. I asked Omar if he can confirm inside if the system was running. He gladly checked a majority of our vents air flow with a temperature gun. Both Elijah and Omar stated that if there are any issues to give them a call and they will come back to re-evaluate. Last October (2019) after getting bids from several companies we picked Qualtech to replace both furnaces and both A/C units in our home.  They were not the highest bid nor the lowest, but comfortably in the middle.  What made us select them was how they took time to educate us on the products and the process.  This is very important to my wife and I.  They didn't talk down to us like some others, or just try and push the highest price product.  They educated us and let us make the best decision for our home. They installed the furnaces very soon after, and we enjoyed a nice and toasty winter.  In early January they removed the AC units so that other contractors could access our backyard for separate work.  Then COVID hit.  Our other work was delayed for months.  Qualtech was so patient in waiting for that work to be completed before they could re-install the AC units.   When they were able to, they were back out immediately to install and set-up the ACs, and thankfully right before a heat wave hit.   From beginning to end, over an almost 8 month timeline due to COVID, Qualtech was fantastic.  They were professional and personable in every interaction/correspondence.  From pricing to products to the process itself they are A+.  In closing, I will also say we have never had any contractors/technicians take better care of our home during their work then Qualtech.  From putting up plastic to laying down blankets to making their work space cleaner than it was before they arrived.  Thank you Qualtech! read more

I've been a loyal Qualtech customer for a few years now. They've done some duct work, maintenance and repairs on my 12 year old system. Just had them out this past Saturday, this time for the air conditioner. It was well over 85 degrees inside the house and the whole family was absolutely miserable. We have a newborn in the house, which made fixing the situation an absolute priority for us. Omar arrived on time, and got to work immediately. He quickly found the problem (damaged wiring at the outside unit) showed me exactly where the problem was, and got straight to work on completing the needed repairs. The new heater was installed however they left us with the responsibility of getting the permit and inspection process completed. I have always seen the contractor as responsible for this aspect of the project. Then they could not find the permit but finally did. When the city inspector came out they found that the gas line to the heater had not been turned on by the contractor. We failed inspection. Called the company yesterday and await a return call so now we have to waste another day waiting for the contractor to fix the problem and another day waiting for an inspector I am not happy. I am hoping the heater works once we finally get it turned on. read more

35 year old AC died on the first hot day this year (of course). Got 4 or 5 bids. Some bids were crazy high, these guys were not. I don't want to say they were cheap, that sounds bad. Good price. Some guys couldn't come by to make a bid for over a month, these guys were here in a day or so. My AC had a very tight spot, deck stairs ended up closing in the old AC over time. New units are bigger than the old but these guys found one taller (not fatter) and squeezed it in! I had to call in a few days with a minor sensor problem and they came right out! Pricing for repair services seem like a rip off. Twice I have called Qualtech for repair services. After one call out a few months ago they gave me an estimate of $550 to replace a breaker that cost about $20 and required about 10 minutes to install. I used another service provider at significantly lower cost. Second call out to different property they gave me an estimate of $979 to replace the control board on condo HVAC system. I used another service provider to do the job (in about 20 minutes) for about $450. Further, when I declined the estimate for the $979 repair, the technician removed a $10 fuse (that he had initially installed to test the system) and "declined" to sell it to me as an add on to the call out fee that I paid him. Seemed like petty retaliation for me not accepting the quote. This disappointing repair experience was in stark contrast to the good experience I had with Qualtech on an installation project about a year ago. read more

We needed a gas line put in to connect to our dryer. Qualtech had good reviews on Google in our area so I called. Daniel, the owner (actually his wife owns the company) came out to assess. He was very professional and friendly, his van was new and in great shape. Daniel call one of his technicians who came in his work clothes to assess the gas line. They needed to T valve a gas line, reroute a water condensation line and break through a wall to get to the laundry room. They spent about 10 minutes or so discussing and came back with a $550 proposal. They walked me through the job details and were available to start the following day. I asked if this was a fair price and the actually said it was a low price and showed me the calculations they had worked out on a note pad of $715. They estimated a half day's worth of work. The technician came out the next day before 8am and was done around 11am. They send photos via text and I paid via cc. We'll have PGE out to test gas lines once we hook up the dryer, but these guys were great. read more

Over the past 6 months I have used this company several times, at several different properties, and I have found their service, expertise, and pricing to be great. So far they have made repairs on both forced air and wall heaters and more recently they installed a new forced air unit. To date everything has worked out great! Up until a month ago I thought this company was a big corporate outfit-very presentable, timely and fabulous customer service. Recently I found out they are a locally owned and operated family company which makes me feel very good about suppgiving them my business. I called for cooling issues with my HVAC. Daniel Alvarez comes out and says I am low on Freon and I need a new starter. I said I had no issues with the starter and doubted I needed that. He says "OK" and takes it off...?? no explanation why I suddenly no longer needed it. Then says I am low on Freon. He bills me a 2 hour labor charge (70. x 2) and 60.00 a pound for Freon. He never mentioned that I should not have to fill it full of Freon. Or that simply adding Freon takes five minutes! Not two ours! Of course I have issues in a few months call another HVAC, American, and they come out and find a leak in a few minutes, fix the leak and fill hopefully my last Freon charge. The charged me 30.00 for labor and 55.00 a pd for Freon. And it is now fixed!! Won't call QualTech again. read more

Waited 6 days for them to come out. They called me day of appointment and said they needed to push my appointment out 4 more hours . I told them fine, they showed up not 4 hours but 6 hours later. The guy who came out then said my issue is I have a dual zone Air Conditioner and that is why my air flow from one duct isnt working. 1st off he didnt look at anything, he immediately tried to up sell me a new set up. Next he said he would have to have another service tech come out and that would be 1 more week, I explained that I had given a detailed explanation of our issues and that he can leave my house now. After two visits, one from Atlas and the other from Service Masters, both of which informed me that my furnace and ac were to old to repair, I had called for a third opinion. I informed Daniel of the issues I was having on Saturday morning around 8:30, they dispatched a tech at 4pm the same day and began troubleshooting my issue. The difference in levels of service provided by Qualtech had I not called them, would have cost me around $7800 in unneeded expense . The team and service provided by Qualtech was a welcomed relief considering the lies I had to navigate through to get my system fixed.
