They came piled high with vegan whipped cream, and since the dish comes with two sides, I got the crispy soy bacon and a side of coconut Cool Whip so I could do a little compare-and-contrast between the two. Ahh NYC, I can always count on this amazing city to take care of my vegan cravings---there's something in every neighborhood! When I was in the UES this past Sunday, and it was FREEZING outside (probably because of my vicinity to the water). Lucky for me, Quantum Leap was not too far from where I was! The inside was small and cozy, and there was a lady who immediately greeted me and got me a menu. The menu was packed with all sorts of mouth-watering options, so it took me a while to finally "settle" for the "buffalo chicken bomber" - the vegan take on the spicy chicken classic. I also got some hot tea for some hydration that was temperature-appropriate. My sandwich was the perfect size---not to big, but packed with flavor. There was plenty of spicy sauce to go around. The "chicken" was perfectly battered and there was also a strip or two of "bacon". If I lived in the UES, I would definitely be stopping in here more often! Wow! We found this place as a last-minute dinner stop after spending the evening shopping in the area. The menu looked great, especially since it is FILLED with many vegan and vegetarian options, so we decided to give it a try. First of all, this place is so quaint and cute! It's small, but feels cozy. Eclectic decor and sweet, soothing music. Overall great vibes! My husband and I ordered the Crispy Honey Garlic BBQ Buns, the Vegan Buffalo Wild Wings and the Blackout Chocolate Mouse Cake to share (all of which are vegan). EVERYTHING we ordered was absolutely delicious! The buns were a satisfying combination of crunchy and soft with a savory flavor. And vegan wings had a "bone" in them!!! The "bone" was a wooden skewer, but it simulated what a bone-in chicken wing would be like...except no meat involved. Such a wonderful treat for us as we used to love eating wings before we gave up meat. The flavor was also delectable! The cake was (dare I say) moist, saucy and decadent. We ate every last bite, including the berries that were plated next to it, in record-breaking time. Lastly, the service was impeccable! Our water glasses never went less than half full. I dirtied up my napkin from the wings (whoops!) and sometime between taking the old plates and bringing out the dessert plate my napkin was magically switched with a fresh one. Cute spot with great music and food! Went with three in our lunch date. I had the tofu curry stew and it was amazing! The tofu, carrots, coconut milk and other seasonings were perfectly blended for a complete meal. The lentil rice was the perfect side to accompany this stew. One friend had the salmon with garlic, brown rice and veggies. The loved it all! The friend that suggested it ha the Katzu chicken with a side salad and they were pleased with everything that they have eaten from here. On a winter's day we all opted for the hot green tea. Sad sad reason for visiting, but the food warmed our hearts. Was looking for a vegetarian place while my dog was in the ICU at AMC. It was a short walk in the rain, but the food was amazing. I had the satay skewers plate which tasted just like chicken satay. The sauce was divine, and it was very filling. Steamed vegetables were great too. This is one of my favorite restaurants on the Upper East Side. The owner is an incredibly down-to-Earth, thoughtful, and considerate human being. The food seems to be made with so much care, with great ingredients and memorably flavors. And although I typically do take out, I've always enjoyed the experience dining in here. However, they can still accommodate groups of 6-8 people. The menu is very vegetarian friendly and the food is fantastic. You won't miss the meat at all. This is a friendly place where the staff are always helpful and there are several choices which fit into my non-meat diet. I also appreciate the creativity where you can get original creations that are not available in other health-food restaurants. It is also a bright, relaxed atmosphere. I got the Soy Chicken Katsu, and it was so delicious! There are a lot of vegetarian/vegan options. I'm not sure if the woman who was our waitress is also the owner, but she was so kind. It is a small establishment so if your party is larger than 3, just be aware it might be a tight squeeze/long wait. You can order for pick-up as well if that works better. With a name like Quantum Leap, by definition it's a breakthrough or an advance...not a traditional restaurant name but this vegetarian and vegan establishment does indeed advance or breaks through the misconceptions of eating this type of cuisine. I know for me generally a carnivore, it was a leap in choice. And a great choice it was. Welcomed with a warm and friendly smile the minute I approached for a table. I was seated quickly and without an issue as I was a tad early for my dinner plans. I made it known and it was not a problem. A random Wednesday night and it was almost full capacity at 6:15pm. The menu is filled with choices, breakfast all day or Mexican or Asian style dishes. It was very hard to choose. There was even an added new menu so given it was my first time, it was a lot to read. My dining companion has been here for years and loves it so I knew it would not disappoint. Everything we ordered was very delicious and I didn't miss the meat! You gotta try the grilled "chicken" satay with peanut and coconut sauce. That flavor profile really came through as the seitan was slathered in the sauce. So good. The sweet corn chowder soup, soy base "cream" was very sweet and bountiful with ingredients - corn, potatoes, carrots, etc. My entree of choice black bean quesadilla. The sweet homemade salsa was a pleasant surprise and the guacamole with fresh chips completed the entree. Proportions were generous. I was already getting full after my first piece of quesadilla. Totally would order this again. Dessert didn't disappoint either. We did ask our super attentive waiter Elvin to pace our meal so we were not rushed and he did. We also asked for a somewhat deconstructed creamy carrot and walnut cake slice to share. It was odd coming separately but we enjoyed it so that we could decide how we wanted it - sweetness level with the frosting, fruit compote on the side and even the delectable roasted walnuts with cinnamon and brown sugar was a surprise. The carrot cake was moist and really packed with flavor. Jennie the manager and owner, runs this spot and seems the whole family is all in as well. She's had the same chef for 20+ years, no easy feat. This restaurant is not that old but he's been with her at their other brick and mortar spots. Good for them! I walked in with my partner for a weeknight dinner, but I'd probably call ahead for larger parties (5+). The place itself is kind of small but good ambiance and good decor. I don't see this being the best for take out (especially the burgers) so I'd definitely recommend going in person. You can really taste the garlic on their garlic fries. The curly fries were cooked well, but missing the nostalgic seasoning curly fries usually have. The Habanero Cauliflower Lentil Veggie Burger was delicious and flavorful, but quite messy to eat. The veggie patty kept falling apart, the sauce was dripping all over the plate before I even took my first bite, and the avocado slices kept slipping out of the burger.
