This time around i had one of the worst experiences there. I've grown my hair long because I'm…read moregetting married soon but because i get to wash it in different places during the week, with different water sources and pressure ( because of work) i'm using dandruff shampoo which apparently dried my hair. I had an appointment with Nadia for a haircut and style, i usually just get it straightened out. I had washed my hair about an hour before my appointment so when she asked me if i needed my hair washed i said no. She proceeded to blow dry my hair and started talking with one of her colleagues. Mid blow drying she just asks me what shampoo i'm using. I told her it's for dandruff and keeps talking to her colleague in third native tongue and this time i noticed they were pointing at my hair and i could see her getting frustrated. When she was done blow drying I asked her why did she asked me about the shampoo and she told me i need to use another shampoo because the dandruff ones hake chemicals and damage the hair. Mind you, while she noticed my hair was not very healthy proceeded to blow dry it without adding any product. The she proceeded to straighten it again without adding any product to protect it. She rushed the straightening and did large strands of hair. When she looked like she was done and asked me if it was good i pointed out at some parts of hair that were not properly straightened but were covered by the top layer hair. She had parted my hair in the middle, I don't do that, and when i said I don't like it like that and tried to part my hair differently she got frustrated with me. And that will be my last time using their services. It's disappointing that she's a hairstylist and she doesn't know how to take care of damaged hair and doesn't know how to make care recommendations ( in all fairness i never asked her what products to use because when she considered she was done with my hair si simply went away and another person took my pay and only came back as i was leaving). I wasn't rude, i even tipped her. When i got home i discovered another part of the hair that wasn't straightened. Oh well, never again!

The second time after completing my haircut the stylist gave me a receipt that said $15. I asked why since it's clearly advertised that all haircuts are $10. She said it was because my hair is long. She directed me to take it up with the cashier, who agreed and said long hair takes a long time to cut. My haircut literally took less than ten minutes since all I asked was a few inches to be trimmed off the bottom. Meanwhile there was another customer there when I arrived whose meticulous fade was ongoing and clearly much more time and labor-intensive than my haircut. But I imagine his haircut wasn't upcharged because his hair was short. I quit going to conventional salons because they would always charge women more for dubious reasons unrelated to the labor-intensiveness or time put into the haircut. I liked this one since they seemed to operate without that nonsense, but now it looks like they're using hair length to upcharge someone asking for a simple and quick haircut, while still falsely advertising a "$10 haircut." My son who is 14 years of age is accompanied by his mother in attempt to get his hair dyed - perfectly ok on the surface - behind the scenes as his father I have already informed him and his mother that I did not approve. Without my consent my son is in the chair in the process of having his hair dyed - behind my back essentially - I figure out what is happening in the middle of the service and I call the salon to inform them of my concern. I inform them that this service has not been approved by me and should not continue. The salon owner dismisses my concern and decides not to take the step toward doing the right thing. Legally were they obligated to terminate the service - no - but again as a business owner you have some sort of moral obligation to do what's right. In no situation would I feel compelled to complete a service or sell a product to a minor without full consent from their parents and would be especially adamant about not moving forward if there was any push back from either parent. So Taylor Hair Dezign lacks the moral compass I deem adequate - therefore they are being criticized with a less than positive review. I prefer to do business with people and businesses that lean on the side or right.

I had a feeling my last visit was a fluke thing. I know the work these ladies do is great. It just sucks that sometimes, our hair can only take so much. After this most recent visit, my hair is looking healthy happy and vibrant. I've been getting so many compliments and I am confident enough to wear my hair down again.
