You don't always see that. The tables and chairs are metal. The girl behind the counter is very sweet, but she doesn't know too much about the product that she sells. She knows that the ice cream is from Alabama and that it is not locally sourced. Prices here are more than reasonable, $5 for a 3-scoop sampler. She was very helpful, providing us samples and giving us flavor recommendations. It's a real cute lil spot. Another thing, it was super clean. Yay!!

Maddie's fit the bill with its homemade ice cream and family-run ambiance. It's in an unassuming shopping center off the main toad in Brusly, LA (about a 15 min drive from BR, just over the MISSISSIPPI river), but it's an oasis in an otherwise ice cream desert. The space is super cute and inviting with paintings of various ice cream cones on the walls by young artists (they do kids birthday parties) and a chalkboard menu. They also have plenty of seating and a "Eat More Ice Cream" sign that's perfect for the 'gram. The ice cream itself is fantastic and really creamy and rich. I got coffee and cookies and cream and my partner got blueberry cheesecake and s'mores. Very reasonably priced given the generous scoops! They also have brownies, cookies, and their signature creations/sundaes. Worth the drive to this small town to get world class ice cream! We'll be back!

It's nestled into a strip mall on Highland Road near its junction with Boyd. This area has ample surface parking. The interior is simple and contemporary, allowing diners to focus on the menu. Indian cuisine can be complex, and there are a lot of choices offered. However, the menu does a good job of explaining the dishes and their ingredients. It's fun to try out different things and learn about new dishes that one might like. I'm trying to break out of the habit of always trying a dish I'm familiar with. In my last visit I ordered Chicken Masala Noodles which is definitely different. Can't say as I have ever had an Indian pasta dish before. The service is both subdued and attentive, which is classy. They will surprise you with their appearance just when they are needed.

(Not the Indian spicy which is considered "very spicy") & it was perfect in every way. The sauce is not sweet like butter chicken but reminded me of chicken 65 flavors as it was also served with a slice of lemon and topped with purple onions. The biryani (seasoned) basmati rice was added flavor. I'll definitely be back for this again. The portion was enough for 2 servings. Oh it came with a side or carrot & onion raita ( homemade yogurt) to help cool off the mouth when eating a spicy dish.I love raita and I would have enjoyed more of it but it was a nice surprise. I didnt order naan (as the rice was filling enough as a starch) but next time I will because why not.

And fish-shaped taiyaki or bunggeobang pastries that feature custard or red bean filling--warm and sweet with a crispy exterior. The ube cookies were the only items that didn't blow my mind as the ube flavor was lost amongst the food coloring and white chocolate chips. The ube ice cream however was solid, with a mild and lightly sweet earthy flavor similar to taro or matcha. 8/10 recommend especially if you've never had bingsu or ube. My favorite was definitely the fish-shaped pastries, a very impressive replication of the Asian street snacks sold in the wintertime.

I also got a custard stuffed taiyoki that isn't pictured and it was DELICIOUS just watch out for hot custard burns!

So many tasty looking desserts in the window but we went with the cookies and cream ice cream & Venezuelan cheese sticks to eat inside. Unfortunately the empanadas were sold out (was hoping to try some of those for a small lunch). There were no other hot foods but the cheese sticks were very tasty! The ice cream was delicious as well. Took a churro cheesecake & Dubai chocolate cheesecake home to try later with my family but they had plenty of other options--flan, coconut flan, chocolate flan, variety of cheesecakes & tres leches (including several for Father's Day). There is also a small market attached with cold drinks, frozen items & a variety of shelf items. Will be back to try some coffee drinks & other desserts. And hopefully the empanadas!

The dessert case was full, which made it difficult to settle on one thing. Alexa offered us samples of each of their tres leches, and I did not know that the flavor would be a little different based on the country of origin. My daughter got a brownie, and I settled on a cheesecake. My cheese cake was creamy and rich. I went with the Nutella one that had Ferraro Rocher's on top for sentimental reasons. It did not disappoint on the flavor. I can't wait to come back and try more of their dessert options and snag a coffee and some empanadas.
