Used to be my goto place but now they don't serve BBQ sandwiches and the chicken isn't flavorful.

Best fried chicken anywhere. Try the pork chops and the okra! I usually get the tenders.

We were greeted immediately upon entering. Everyone was nice. *Patio is cool with the large tree growing in the middle of it. * All 3 of us got a variation of the jerked chicken. * Jerked chicken tostadas were just flavorful and delicious. *Calypso nachos with the jerked chicken, the pineapple paired well and just good nachos. *Pac-rim salad with jerked chicken, big serving and a nice crunch with the cabbage Cole slaw paired with a peanut vinaigrette and the jerked chicken. Delicious. * Our serve was attentive but not over burdening. Checked in, was super pleasant, just darn right nice. *Chocolate bread pudding was recommend and it was moist and warm with a good scoop of vanilla ice cream. The caramel drizzle was the highlight for me. What could of been better: *A me thing for nachos, when piled high the bottom gets soggy before you can enjoy them. Great visit, want to come back and try some other items.

Our server was super sweet and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and explaining the menu and specials in detail. We started by sharing the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Crab Cake, and both appetizers were fantastic! For our entrees, I ordered the Chicken & Cheese Melt, while my friend chose the French Onion Burger. We sampled each other's dishes and loved them both! To finish, we had to try the signature Whiskey Cake, and it absolutely lived up to the hype!! It was AMAZING and the perfect ending to a delicious meal.

Even though we had a reservation, it didn't seem to make a difference. We waited about 15 minutes just to find a host or hostess to be seated. During that time, we saw several other groups leave because no one was available to greet or seat them. It wasn't the best first impression and definitely set the tone for the visit. Once we were seated, the food was excellent. You can really tell that everything is made from scratch, and the quality and freshness stood out. The Garlic Parmesan Brussels Sprouts, topped with garlic aioli and Parmesan cheese, were delicious and packed with flavor. I also ordered the Kale Caesar Salad with grilled chicken, which was fresh and well-balanced with house greens, Parmesan cheese, and Caesar vinaigrette. My little ones ordered the Crispy Southern Fried Chicken Fingers with fries, and they both really enjoyed their meals. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight of our visit, but the service and lack of organization upon arrival could use improvement. If they can address the front-of-house experience, it would make for a much better visit.

Our return to Fernandina Island and The Patio discovered the same great food and terrific service provided by Kimmi. Patio is by far one of island favorites. Anyways, our server was pretty friendly, and we can't complain about the ambience. Here's what we tried: -Crab Dip: 10/10 - SOOO YUMMY! Perfect crab dip, so rich, so flavorful. -Lobster Bisque: 2/10 - This wasn't bisque, it wasn't even chowder. It was so thick and had no real taste to it. -Goat Cheese Burger: 9/10 - creamy, goat cheese was the star, overall delicious. fries were good too! -Lobster Ravioli: 7/10 - disappointing, to be honest. Sauce was great but the ravioli itself kind of tasted like frozen lobster ravioli. -French dip Sandwich: 6/10 - super salty, very savory, but very little depth of flavor. Could've used something zingy. -Chocolate Cake: 9/10 - no one can argue with a chocolate cake. I mean come on! I loved that it came out cold and dense.

We were early, but quickly and kindly seated in a comfortable booth. Service and the branzino dish were excellent. Other dishes were rather mediocre. We ordered: * Cesar: basic * Daily Ceviche: good, though I prefer a spicier preparation * Sea Bass: disappointing and lacking flavor, according to my dining partner * Branzino du Jour: grilled over hot coals, prepared with rich mushroom risotto, truffles, and lumps of lobster. Stand out dish of the evening. While I absolutely adored my branzino dish, it was not worth the long drive. My pescatarian dining partner was deeply disappointed in the taste and plating of the food -- particularly compared to better nearby options like 14 Prime and Medure. I could have gone for a slice of rich, dense chocolate cake for dessert, but they only had creamy things. We passed. All in all, I'm glad I got to try David's.
