CHICKEN, breaded and fried, perfectly golden brown and juicy. Our favorite!! We drive 45 to 50 minutes each way to eat here, and we are rarely disappointed. There is comfort and consistency here, awesome aroma inside, and just a darn fine casual dining experience. This is the chicken hole-in-the-wall you're looking for. Superb! The restaurant features many options for chicken - 3 pc, 5 pc, 9 pc, 12 pc, and more. Sides are typical, but the COLESLAW is the best anywhere and made in-house. Also, besides chicken, there are many other southern things on the menu. PORK CHOPS are always large, nicely battered, and perfectly fried. The food does vary sometimes due to how busy they get, but it's never BAD. So your pork chop could be a bit more cooked than at other times. But it's always SUPER TASTY. I usually eat 1 or 2 pieces of chicken AND one pork chop. Taking out? Yes please! They have a drive-up window. Grab a meal and then go around the corner and sit on the train-watching platform at the famous "Folkston Funnel" where the majority of Florida train traffic passes through on their way in and out of the state. There are usually 3 or 4 chairs on the platform, and benches out front, plus picnic tables and at least one stand-up charcoal grill. Or go 10 miles down the road and visit the picnic area at Okefenokee Swamp and Wildlife Refuge. ($5 per vehicle entry fee) Service at Quick Chic is always friendly, but turnover behind the counter is high. Folkston is a small town of around 5000 people, and staffing the restaurants in town is a challenge for everyone, it seems. Ambiance is casual - this is not a fancy place, so come as you are and don't worry about anything except for the excellent chicken. The dining room is always squeaky clean! They do a great job making you feel comfortable, and cleanliness is a big part of that. Fountain drinks recently switched to Pepsi, and we're not fans, so we drink water or iced tea when visiting. This restaurant is a must-do if you're into fantastic Southern food items, especially fried chicken and pork chops. read more

The place isn't well marked on the outside but is very clean inside. The staff were very friendly as well. The chicken was tasty and crispy. I wasn't a fan of most of the side so I just ordered chicken. They need to serve green beans and mashed potatoes as additional options. read more

Some of the best fried chicken I've had in a really really long time! We all ate every single bite of our chicken. The sides were really good and fresh too. If I wasn't on vacation and lived nearby, I'd probably eat here everyday and gain 50 lbs. The chicken was crispy and hot and the meat was moist and tasty. I wish they'd open a spot in Marietta. Oh, and it wasn't too expensive. I just might drive 5 hours one day just to eat here again. read more

AX RESIDENTS:  Remember how GREAT Beach Road Chicken Dinners  (BRCD) was years ago?   Ownership changed.   My 22 YOA daughter and I tried it recently and the BRCD experience in terms of quality, execution, service and price is dead. My daughter was so bummed because she has eaten there ever since she she sat in a high chair and it's getting harder to find a GREAT family owned fried chicken restaurant. THEN WE STUMBLED UPON QUICK-CHIC OF FOLKSTON !!! WOWEEEEE. IT IS AS GOOD AS BCRD. The amazing fried chicken aroma both outside and inside the restaurant are almost like an appetizer in itself.  I realize this sounds rather silly,  but if you go there you'll know EXACTLY what I mean. The chicken is seasoned with salt/ pepper, likely brined because it IS so juicy and so fresh out the fryer that the steam pours out when you pull it apart and the sides we had were house-made and very well executed. They even have bottles of the old-style "redneck" clear vinegar/ green pepper hot sauce. Did I mention they also have fried pork chops? We'll be back really soon. RIP BRCD (JAX). read more

I stopped to order food for a co worker on 11/10/23 @ 6:30 pm. I stood at the register for 12 minutes and was ignored by all 4 girls working behind the counter. One girl was on her phone texting, one was digging through her pocketbook, and the other 2 was just talking to each other. I absolutely do not recommend this place if you're in a hurry. Local little fast food joint, the food was out fast as it should be at a fast food place and the price isn't too bad . As for the food; the fries were great couldn't ask for much more, they were crispy salted and hot. The chicken was cooked okay, not dry but not exactly great and it was lacking in the flavor department, although it was pretty crispy so that's a plus. Quick Chic is a Hilliard/Folkston staple. Their fried chicken is good. I particularly like the wings but what QC is a must for is their coleslaw. I DO NOT like coleslaw but I was convinced to try theirs and actually enjoyed it. QC is also great for catering. read more

But then I realized they stole a strip of the breast piece and must be making double money by selling it as a breast strip!! Not hardly ANY meat on this so called "breast" piece!! When I tell you this is easily the best chicken in the South, maybe even the U.S., believe it. It is perfectly fried every time. I drive 35 miles to eat here. Livers and gizzards are prepared exactly how the gods intended it to be. Sides are great, don't waste your time on the biscuit they include. It's not home made. Chicken strips and baked beans were frozen and out of the can. My daughters chicken had something green in it. It was huge, like it was growing in it. I made her spit it out and we threw it all away. I go here maybe once a month if that. I like the food (except for the bread rolls since they are the dry store-bought ones). Chicken strips are my favorite. As for sides, stick with fries or greens. The beans are watery. Most of the girls that work there are nice but there are always one or two that act like they have a stick up their butt, which causes them to come off as rude. Fried Chicken - I'm from California and when i visited my daughter in Georgia, it has been a tradition of sorts to visit Paula Deen's restaurant in Savannah for the fried chicken. On this trip, we visited Quick Chick in Folkston, GA, because my son-in-law was playing softball nearby. From the moment I opened the box, I knew we were in for a treat. The chicken was hot, crispy, and golden brown. With the first bite, I was in heaven....juicy, great tasting chicken! I couldn't believe the quality. Today April 13th at approximately 4:15 pm I went through the window and placed an order. I have had a problem with the french fries being soggy and barely cooked for the last few times I did business with QUICK CHIC. This time I specifically asked the person who took my order to make sure my fries were crispy. She looked at another person working there and told her that I wanted to make sure my fries were crispy. There was almost a dirty look from the second person as if that would be too much trouble. I waited hoping my fries would be crispy. Obviously, that was too much trouble and they didn't care what I wanted because my large order of fries came to me soggy, limp, and barely cooked. That's right , I specifically asked for the fries to be crispy, but they didn't care. They cooked the fries as they usually do, which is barely. Also, they were pretty much cold. French fries are not supposed to be soggy. They are supposed to be crisp on the outside and done in the middle. The other food they serve is not good enough to make up for the fries. Also, the place literally looks like a dump and if you were someone from out of town, you wouldn't even think the joint was open for business. I thought maybe if I actually ordered the french fries a certain way they would be able to produce an acceptable product. I was wrong. That was my last try. I will never darken the door of QUICK CHIC again. read more
