I've been here several times, and only have good things to say. The positives: + Beer selection + Ambiance/aesthetic (I LOVE the yellow chairs) + Coffee (Counter Culture drip coffee -- amazing!) + Breakfast tacos (Although a little "expensive" for the average breakfast taco in Austin, still very yummy.) + Customer service (I've been here numerous times and have only had positive experiences with the staff. Very friendly and helpful.) + Atmosphere (Even when I've been here in the evenings, it always feels quiet and laid-back.) And a small side-note for people leaving poor ratings due to the amount of hipster sightings here: I could drive by this place at 70 mph and still be able to tell that it has a hipster draw to it. The front outside wall is reclaimed wood for Pete's sake. And the sunshine painting outside could be the perfect backdrop for a Beach House music video (or insert any other hipstery band name). I really want to like this place as I live right by it but since they replaced the breakfast tacos on the weekend with an overpriced brunch menu (we are talking a couple poached eggs and a piece of toast for like $13) I just don't have much reason to go anymore unless I need some salsa or a bottle of wine...in which case I would rather go to east side wines anyway. The tip line on the receipt when you buy groceries is also presumptuous and insulting if you ask me. read more

I had a very poor experience at the quickie pickie this morning. After placing my order along with the orders of my 3 family members, we took a seat and patiently anticipated the arrival of our food. After about 30 minutes I walked up to the cashier and asked about the food, he said he would ask about it.. Moments later the long haired man with the attitude called me back to the counter and handed me a bag of cold bagals and tacos " I called this order like 3 times he snapped." (This I knew was untrue because I had 4 pairs of ears intently watching and listening for every single order that was placed.) Why he was so hostile, I cannot say. When I unbagged the food I noticed we were short a bagal. I went back to the man and asked for the bagal they had forgotten. He found the receipt which had no 'classic bagal' on it. Of course this meant nothing to me other than another mistake on their part and inconvenience for me. To my surprise he actually rung up an order for a classic bagal. "That will be 6.50$" I looked at him half shocked by what I was hearing. "I don't have any intention of paying for that" I replied. "Ok well just get out then." He sneered. I understand it I hard to find good labor these days. But never have I been so appalled by any establishments customer service. read more

Like other reviewers, I had an emotional reaction to how much I disliked this place. I wanted to love it because it's adorable. But no. I stood at the counter and waited for five minutes with SIX staff behind the counter performing various tasks and completely ignoring the girl that wanted to give them money. There was ONE other customer in the entire store. I almost walked out right there. Finally, I ordered a single bacon and egg taco for $3.25, and left with servings of each salsa (I LOVE salsa). It was one of the most tasteless items I have ever eaten. The eggs were very dry, and the corn tortillas were crumbly. The salsas also were worthless. I threw them both away and choked down the taco. After all, I was running late because they ignored me for five minutes. This place reemphasized to me that you can be local and Austiny and expensive, but you also have to make good food. read more

I love this place. It has a wide assortment of high-quality items for sale, everything from food-to-go, to craft beer, to cleaning supplies. They also have beers on tap, serve wine, brew counter culture coffee, and serve food for most of the day. They do a great happy hour as well with $3 pints. Finally, they have wifi and a nice patio, in case you want to hang out and get some work done. The one downside is some things can be a little pricey, because it is mostly targeting an upscale market; however, it's worth it for the quality and convenience. read more

This place is so freakin cute, it gets me every time. The two times I've been...The first time i got the Saltimbocca and it's pretty good. Oily, which is def a plus for me. Hehhhh. But I def liked The Early Bird more. I don't typically favor cold sandwiches over warm but this one's badass. The lemon mayo and tomato confiture are magical. Two things I observed during my recent visit: 1. Dude behind counter with very long unbrushed dirty blond hair serving food. 2. Mrs. Baird's bread. (Is it being sold ironically?) Your barstaff appear to be inconvenienced by doing their job. They exude a general sense of aloofness verging on rudeness which East Austin "hotspots" are beginning to be known for. These people are awesome. The staff here takes the time to joke and chat and still gives you excellent service. Best draft selection around. Quality food that is worth the price. Way more affordable than the other options around (except the amazing food trucks of course). Kombucha on tap. Ask to taste a sample of the drafts. The tacos are large and so worth it! read more

I went here when visiting Austin and loved it. Good selection of healthy trendy drinks & foods but also beer. Got oatmeal for breakfast which was a great value for the money and tasty. Vanilla latte was good too. If I ever go back I'd definitely try the tacos. If I lived in the neighborhood I'd be stopping by here every weekend for breakfast. The grocery aspect is a god-send for someone who lives in the area and doesn't want to have to drive to satisfy every grocery need. The beer selection and the food are what make this place stand out. Excellent sandwiches and a great gourmet food shop. Their patio is nice and the service is friendly and quick. They have quite a few beers on tap, more in the case, and a separate dinner and lunch menu. They had no real vegan options when I stopped in, but some great vegetarian options. read more

Tonight there's just one feller working the place. He seemed agitated because the other employee had walked out and then manager decided to go home too. Now he's stuck running the store all night by himself and not happy about it, nor are the people he's trying to wait on. Food was excellent. However, it didn't make up for the Super weird vibe and super slow service. 5 people in the store/restaurant and it took 30 minutes to get a "quick" burger, more like slow-burger. Worse, after 15 minutes of using my phone, trying not to awkwardly stare at the 5 employees standing around with nothing to do, I finally looked up and started staring back. I had to be on the road ASAP, and the person working the stove still hadn't started my order even though there had not been anyone else in the store during those last 15 minutes. The employees even started to get nervous because of how long it was taking to prep the order. There was no seating inside due to covid and it was 102F outside, so we all just stood there shifting food to foot. Something really off here. I'm a big fan of this place! I wish they would bring back their burgers! They were so good. The saltimboca sandwich is delicious. The teriyaki is good, but beware - it's spicier than you might expect. I love how they always have a great selection of beer on tap, and the bartenders are always nice about telling you about the beers and letting you sample to make a decision. read more
