Tour date: March 5, 2025. Defiantly a must do when visiting Maui. The Captain has a good sense of humor and is very knowledgeable about the Hawaiian Islands, the Humpback Whales and the local area. Captain Paul was funny and made us feel safe. We saw a pod of about 30 dolphins - it was amazing to see. We enjoyed the endless coffee (especially at 7am!!), Costco muffins and danishes; pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw and veggie crudite post-snorkeling. Also- their $3 mai tai is unbeatable. We snorkeled for a good hour in just 1 spot in Lanai. There's a slide, dive deck and an assortment of floatation belts etc... There was also an informative "snorkel 101" for beginners. Left harbor at 7am and returned at noon. There's a photographer onboard and an underwater go-pro camera for rent for $50. We had a wonderful time on our whale watching tour in Maui with Captain Steve, Darius, and Julia. Captain Steve gave an interesting and entertaining tour, and we learned a ton more about humpbacks than we expected to when we made our reservation. We were super fortunate to have several whales approach the ship and breach right next to us. The crew was super attentive to the guests and made multiple circuits around deck to make sure everyone was comfortable and good on refreshments. Great price on beers and cocktails. We will definitely keep Quicksilver in mind the next time we are on Maui. read more

AMAZING! We booked online and checked in by e-signing our waivers. Captain Greg and his crew were awesome. Boarding was efficient and simple. There were plenty of kids and everyone did fairly well on sea legs without getting sick as far as I'm aware. We rode the earliest boat and listened to Tay Swizzle draw all the whales in. Most were within sight without binoculars. Still, one baby whale was literally within meters starboard and gave us a sweet bob, wave and made our whole day. Except for our toddler, who of course, took advantage of the breeze and gentle rocking to take a nap. Mahalo! read more

Went whale watching on the early sailing-very affordable and definitely worth it! Saw many whales and learned a lot about the humpbacks from the captain. The crew was so great-making sure we had drinks and didn't need anything else. It was a little rough, but the captain made sure we knew when we should be sitting and when we might get splashed if up front. Easy, quick boarding and disembarking. Highly recommend! read more

Our half-day snorkeling trip with them was THE highlight of our trip to Maui. Quality: 5 Value: 5 Service: 5 Ambience: 5 Just want to be up front about this review: we pretty much hated Kaanapali! We did not realize it was just Tropical Disneyland for mean tourists and their screaming children. Tourists who go to Kaanapali are the people who are too scared to even go to Cancun. Overwhelmingly, everywhere we went was packed with White clientele who were treating the non-White service staff like garbage. This snorkeling trip was the real bright light that saved us from trying to escape Kaanapali early. The boat staff were professional, on time, friendly, and laid back. They took safety very seriously and had lifeguards, plus loads of floaties in addition to snorkel gear, and reef-safe mineral-based sunblock. The price you pay to leave from the harbor and go on this boat versus leaving from a hotel was probably half. You are pretty much guaranteed to swim with turtles and see an awesome range of fish and corals. They also have some photographers on board who can equip you with a GoPro for underwater photos and videos. On the ride back, they sold $3 beers and cocktails - and they tasted better than the cocktails we had in the resort! This was also the ONLY place that we were told ANY history or cultural information about Hawaii and Maui, which was a welcome change of pace. All in all, I'd say this is a must-do experience if you go to Kaanapali. read more

We took the sunset cruise and had a good time. Food was delicious and staff was excellent. Some things to note - Although you are allowed to walk around the boat, space is limited so don't expect to walk around. Most people just remain in their assigned seats. The cruise stays close to shore and doesn't go out far. During sunset the captain turns the ship around a couple of times so everyone can get a good view. I recommend it if you've never done one of these cruises. read more

Winds were high so the crew sat us inside to eat and moved the boat to a calmer location so we could enjoy the beautiful sunset. There were 9 of us so this was a big crowd. This is a review for the Afternoon Snorkeling Tour. It was fun, but nothing amazing. They provide snorkel masks and fins, but we brought our own snorkel masks because we felt like it. We also brought towels, water bottles and some snacks to tie us over during the boat ride to the snorkeling location. Once we got to where we needed to be, we snorkeled for a good hour or so. Even if you're not a strong swimmer you can use a flotation belt or noodle or both to help you stay afloat. Make sure you bring a waterproof case for your camera. There is plenty of storage on the boat so you can bring a backpack or beach bag to carry and store your stuff. On the boat ride back, we were served hot dogs, chips and a drink and a cookie for dessert. I gave this 4 stars because some of the crew seemed annoyed to be there. Maybe they were just tired, I don't know, however I must add that they were very good when it comes to safety and in making sure all the guests were following the rules. Their instructions were very clear and they made us feel safe as they watched over us from their surfboards while we were in the water. Overall, the adventure itself is not bad! Views of the islands are gorgeous. The fish...meh... maybe it was an off day for them too. We didn't see anything incredibly amazing, but it was still fun! Make sure you tip the crew so they're happy at the end of the day. :) read more

We had Captain Kiwi and crew on our tour, he was funny and the whales were out to play during our tour. The day was really windy and the water was choppy. We set off with our 3 young kids. I was very disappointed that the crew did not offer life jackets to my kids. When I asked if we could have some the crew member said he would look and never followed up. The captain warned us that going below deck was dangerous for kids because of how unstable they might be and joked about how it's fun to watch the kids fall down but not fun for the kids. The lack of life jackets for my kids was unacceptable to me. I'm not even commenting on how we didn't see whales or that half the boat was vomiting by the end of the trip. read more

So unfortunately I got motion sickness once the boat stopped and I even took Dramamine and had patches. I did go in the water for one minute only because I didn't realize we were going to be in water that was so dark I couldn't see my feet and we would have to swim like 50 ft to the rock reef area which is where I'm assuming everything was. I didn't feel safe not being able to see around me to swim that far with nothing around. It really just freaked me out. Ended up with it being an expensive boat ride lol. read more

Please do yourself a favor and do not get on their charter if you know you get sea sick! I am warning you because I'm one of those unlucky ones! The crew were all very pleasant to work with, with a great sense of humor but that still didn't make up for my experience on the charter boat... +1 star for that! They also provide you with breakfast, lunch, snorkeling gear, fins and pool noodles but unfortunately I was not able to use any of those things. I pretty much spent half the experience vomiting and refunds were not allowed. Sucks to be me.... I basically spent over $100 for pain and suffering experience. But for the rest of my party who actually went out to the water, they said it was overly short for the amount they paid for. Never again! read more

We have been coming to the islands since 1986, and we have enjoyed many boat outings. Last night, however, on the Quicksilver Dinner Cruise we had the best dining experience EVER! The food was exceptional, the crew were friendly and super attentive with excellent table side service, and the mai tais were delicious and free flowing. Our location on the covered upper level with total open air flow was exactly what I had hoped for, and although the live guitarist was downstairs, the high quality speakers made us think he was right around the corner. The price for this outing was also a splendid bargain for the experience! If you come to Maui, this is a must!! read more

Safety was a top priority and they really worked to ensure everyone followed the rules and even did lessons for those who have not been snorkeling before. Provided food and drinks where great. Location had many fish and other creatures. We even saw a few turtles. They provide all equipment and even helped with some prescription goggles for those with glasses. We booked this tour and we were so happy we did. It's worth getting up early and getting there. We took our entire family: 4 kids, one of our kids friends, and my husband and I. The captain, Greg, was so much fun. He gave fun facts and information along the way. His delivery was great that even my 6 year old spouted some of those facts on the way back. I was impressed. Julia a crew member also answered many of our questions. She was very knowledgeable about the island and it's surroundings. Also want to mention that before we left there were three people missing and the captain mentioned he was going to make a phone call to see where they were before leaving them. As soon as you get on the boat everyone greets you and you can get coffee, juice, or water. You can also grab your breakfast, ours were pastries and fruit. Right before you get to your destination, ours was by Lana'i, they give you instructions on how to use your equipment. Once you get there you get off the boat and snorkel. I felt safe with my 6 year old and 4 year old. They didn't need anything but their floaties but they offer this cool hard raft with a window on it to view down. There were lots of fish and coral to look at there. They have a couple of the crew members out there as lifeguards as well. After they let us go down the slide and jump off the boat. On the way back they open ed the bar and served us lunch which was also great: pulled pork and sandwiches were the options. Great Mai-Tais made by Ranger. We sat out from to be on the lookout for dolphins. Cody came around several time to refill our drinks or check to see if we needed anything. The photographer will come over and offer photos of everyone for purchase. I highly recommend letting them get all the photos so you can just enjoy looking down into the fish and coral. Ryan did a great job with the photos!! We were impressed by the amount and quality he took. The whole crew was great and fun: Ranger, Cody, Julia, Ryan, and Greg. This was our first sunset cruise and didn't really know what to expect but this tour has to be one of the best. The crew was phenomenal, the onboard singer was amazing, the servers were so friendly and very attentive to all guests onboard. We will definitely do this again when we're back in Maui! My family had a great time here on the snorkel trip to Lanai. The crew was friendly and very helpful. The ship was clean and comfortable. Very soon after we boarded and got underway, breakfast was ready for everyone. There was coffee, juice, muffins, mini cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs and an assortment of freshly sliced fruit. On the way up and back, we saw dolphins swimming and jumping along our ship. That was fun and exciting seeing them racing our ship. I was too busy enjoying the experience and didn't bother taking pictures. My daughter got some great videos though. We snorkeled along with a few other boats off the coast of Lanai. We go snorkeling a lot in Maui and in my opinion, this snorkeling experience was not great. It was too deep and the fish were too far down to really see them closely. We love to snorkel along the coral reefs right off the many beaches in Maui. Lunch was served after snorkeling as well as drinks! Lunch was delicious especially after snorkeling. There was also a fairly well stocked bar on board. After eating, the Quicksilver gave everyone a pretty exciting ride back. We went very fast and got very wet (we sat up front). Our family thought it was the highlight of the trip! That and the dolphins of course. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed this part of our trip. The snorkeling was amazing. We went to Molokini and Turtle Town which was perfect amount of time at each location. The crew was so friendly and helpful. Shoutout to the crew member who dove about 25-30 feet down to retrieve my phone...and did it with a smile! When we were heading back to the harbor, the crew heard there was a pod of dolphins nearby and went out of their way to take us there to see them. So incredible! January 2024-- Wonderful morning trip to see the activity with the whales. Due to the terrible fire in Lahaina, the trips for Quicksilver were starting at the Maui Ocean Center at the Ma'alaea Harbor. The parking charge was $21.00 !, in addition, a suggested tip for the crew of $20.00/couple and $25.00 for a photo! There was parking on the dock (limited) for $1.00/hour. The bathrooms were overwhelmed at the Center as there were 5 + whale watching trips departing/arriving at the same time. read more

And the best was definitely at last when the a male escort, momma, & her calf swam towards us at the boat and said hello! They hung around for a good while! We did the Lanai Snorkeling & Dolphin Encounter Aboard Quicksilver and absolutely loved it! The staff was super friendly and on top of it, the food was exactly what you would expect (easy costco dishes), the drinks were cheap, the equipment was clean, the captain gave us historical context and tour guide information, we saw dolphins, and we got to swim with turtles! We did the 7:30am whale watching tour and saw so many whales. There was a mama whale showing off her calf, with a "boyfriend" who was escorting the pair. Snorkeling was amazing & we saw tons of Humpbacks & dolphins. We took the 3 hr lunch tour (which was the perfect amount of time) We saw at least 20 humpbacks up close and several breaches on our way out to snorkel. Our "Captain" was great, very knowledgeable & entertaining. The young crew were very friendly & eager to help in all stages of the trip. This crew helped board everyone, hand out gear, served very well as lifeguards wrangling in all the swimmers while also directing people to turtles that they spotted from sitting on their surf boards, then they were wait staff for lunch, then went around & cleaned up after everyone. These "kids went above & beyond. A+++ 12/29 tour date. Long blonde haired kid was great in and out of the water & so was the other young guy (missing a front tooth) & so was Flora. We snorkeled in about 25' deep crystal clear blue water for about an hour. They have the noodle Floaties for everyone to use. We saw loads of fish, a couple turtles & a 5' shark. The snorkeling was my 3 boy's favorite thing we did on vacation. After snorkeling lunch was ready. It was just hotdogs, bbq pulled pork sandwiches, chips, fruit and some cookies. This was just fine for us, we've eaten nothing but higher end meals since arriving. Kids swam around the boat, used the slide & jumped off the side of the boat. Then we started to head in but we kept seeing so many more whales & stopped to look at all of them. We even saw a double breach- 2 males breaching right next to each other at the same time. We also had dozens of dolphins swimming on all sides of our boat. My advice would be skip the Whale only tours & kill 2 birds with one stone & save a small fortune. Bring cash to tip the crew, there must've been 8 or more of them for less than 100 passengers. So probably $10 per person in your party. As long as most people tip there should be several hundreds of $ for them to split. read more

We are repeat customers! We loved this intimate cruise last year and again they did not disappoint. Just the right sized boat and great crew. We are vegetarian and they catered the menu to fit our dietary needs, which we greatly appreciated. We've got little ones that loved using the water slide and jumping off the top of the ship. We will continue to use this same chartered boat on all future Maui trips as well. HIGHLY recommend.
