Running a successful steakhouse in a small town like Leadville is all about survival. Having a bad experience here and there is always going to be a possibility in any restaurant in a lower foot traffic, tourist town. It's more about preserving history and giving a reason for investors to keep places like these open. With that said, we had a great experience from start to finish. The ladies were very attentive, welcoming and extremely friendly. The original wood work, the old comfy chairs, everything was just great. I will definitely be stopping in whenever I pass through Leadville. Now when you go in here you can't expect an ocean prime experience/quality. It's so reasonably priced and an excellent value for all the food you get. If you have an issue with your dish, politely state that and like any restaurant I am sure they would be happy to fix the issue. I hope this place is open for a long time!!!! read more

Quincy's has always, always, always been amazing! Had the 12oz filter, salad, baked potato, and simply loved every single bite of it. Located in a rustic Leadville building, it has this wonderful atmosphere to to go with the amazing food! Rounding it out for a triple threat of dining perfect was the incredibly, friendly, attentive, professional staff, and to top that off, the Italian Lemon Cake for desert. I don't usually do desert because it's often too sweet for me, but their Italian Lemon Cake was so perfect!!! If you're in Leadville, and you want food better than Ruth's Chris Steakhouse with better service and atmosphere, this place is a must visit! You'll not be sorry!!! read more

We've been semi-regular patrons at Quincys in Leadville for some time. Unfortunately, that might change. The steak dinners have always been good quality at an amazingly low price. Like everything else, their prices have gone up considerably. The bigger problem is their quality has sunk as well. We had a 9oz & a 12oz steak last night. The 12oz was undercooked (I asked for medium; it arrived raw in the center). Further, the meat quality was down from past visits --- stringy & not tender) wrapped in a hardly recognizable sliver of bacon. Most disappointing was the replacement of their signature lettuce wedge with a rabbit food arugula & carrot shredded mess. This is probably a cost-saving measure, but a big mistake. read more

Always solid. Alex and Winter are awesome. Steak is always perfect. Menu is great, there are pretty much 4 options. Dressing or no dressing, loaded potato or not, size of your steak and how well you want it cooked. It's usually a little busy when they first open while they seat everyone but well worth the wait! Kraft mac 'n cheese. From a box. Literally. Is what they gave me as the vegetarian entree, after it was discovered they were out of the vegetarian lasagna. Cold sirloin for my husband, cold baked potato for me. White bread and iceberg lettuce salad. The server ignored us most of the time, was too busy to talk to us, and then added 18% gratuity. Bummer. It just kept getting worse...The bathroom had curtains for stall doors! I'd like to qualify by saying that I'm generally a very patient and understanding person. I was in the restaurant industry for 15 years, and have been on the receiving end of entitled, bitchy people. I am not one of them. Visiting Quincy's is a must when traveling to Leadville. First off, they employ the most beautiful waitresses in Leadville. The old rustic charm of the building is a satisfying backdrop when devouring the steak and potatoes. Not really sure if the fillet mignot is actually that.?., (it's so cheap for fillet mignot -price, not taste). but no matter, it's excellent and my whole group had it and loved it. Service was not only nice to look at but actually really nice and refill your drinks fast. They do give lots of attention to their customers. There are only 3 of these on Colorado & they are in a few select mountain towns. Totally worth the drive & the wait! We went on NYE because we were also in town to see my Uncle play in his band that night. The wait was crazy because I think they were one of the only restaurants open in town. We waited almost 45 min to be sat when we were told 15. Honestly no big deal, we had a few drinks from the bar while we waited and it was certainly worth the wait! They only have a few things on the menu. This was supposed to be a steak night but they ran out so it was a prime rib night. There are 4 choices of cut size, comes with a side salad (house dressing) which I would say is ranch, a baked potato (you can load it for $1.50 extra and totally worth the load) and your prime rib. They have au jus and their horseradish is real, not creamy. The food is awesome, service from a new server was great! Drinks were really good too. This is my new favorite restaurant!! The staff was outstanding, pleasant, amicable and "hometown professional". It was my first time here and they made me feel like a regular. I like the decor, and especially the ceiling. We had the petite steaks, salad & side and 4 drinks for the 2 of us. Priced at under $35. Steak was a little overdone from what I asked but was still very good. If I lived in Leadville, I'd be here everynight, if not for dinner, then a drink with my new buddies at the bar. A salad (chunk of iceberg lettuce) dripping with a cloyingly sweet unidentifiable dressing was thrown down. Baked potato was lukewarm- the butter wouldn't even melt. Yucky. All the locals seem to love this place. The menu is very limited. The mac and cheese is Kraft in a box. We asked for a Mojito, which is only 6 ingredients. They told us they couldn't make one. The good: the prime rib was excellent and not too fatty. I love the atmosphere and the prices were reasonable. The waitress was friendly and professional. Before you go, you need to understand that they have a very, very limited menu. For dinner they have prime rib on Friday and Saturday, and filet mignon the rest of the week. I believe they also have vegetarian lasagna. And that's it. What this place lacks in selection though, it more than makes up for in quality, taste, portion size, and price. I've been to this one and the one in Buena Vista, and both were great. The meat is high quality and extremely tender, and they cook it perfectly. I don't think I've ever even seen filet mignon served in such large portions. I've definitely never had better for less money. Their drinks are also very reasonably priced, though their wine selection could be better. I can say I will definitely be back. read more

I am a Leadville native--and a vegetarian--and yet I enjoy going to "the best steak house in Leadville." (Actually, the only steakhouse in Leadville, but that's quibbling.) There are two things on the menu: steak and vegetarian lasagna. The veggie lasagna never fails to be delicious and my companions have told me that the steak usually is, too--especially if they like it rare. Both come with a baked potato and salad--even the lasagna. There are usually several variations on steak (cut and size). The wait staff have always been unfailingly friendly and polite. (Other patrons are another story--they have been rude--but that isn't the restaurant's fault.) When the restaurant is full and there is a wait, we have enjoyed having a drink at the gorgeous historic bar. The only reason I have given Quincy's four stars instead of five is because 1) the veggie lasagna has sometimes run out. That is disappointing because it is delicious! There isn't much more for the vegetarian except the kids' mac and cheese, which they did give me; and 2) my husband has mentioned that medium steak has been really raw--and was sent back 3 times. It doesn't happen every time, but more frequently than one would hope. Quincy's does have wine, although not an extensive list. If we have carnivore guests, we go to Quincy's! read more

Quincy's was right up our alley! This is essentially a bar that serves steak. The menu is limited in regards to food, but that is something we loved. You can get a 15 oz filet for $18.95! Drinks are extremely cheap as well, but good! They have a full bar. Our service was great and we loved the local feel. Simple, cheap, and pretty darn good! I'm from New England, and let me just say I've never encountered a place where you can get a filet wrapped in bacon, salad, a baked potato, slice of melon and big piece of bread for $12.95 p/p. The area itself is great. Leadville is a really unique town. Lots of old buildings with shops and restaurants to fill your time. I heard that Quincys was great and fun. They have a limited menu which is fine but my beef - pun intended - is the filet mignon was not a quality cut. It was clearly a meat-glue steak. And I ordered it medium rare and it was red and gooey. Completely inedible. My baked potato was over cooked and my salad still had the big white core. Servers were nice once they finally came around. I guess the best part was the bread. Maybe the prime rib is better but I couldn't say one way or the other. Left disappointed. read more

Very good prime rib and an unexpected delish was the ranch Dijon salad dressing , the menu is plain and simple meat , taters and some lettuce with a piece of bread , but it is priced very well and was very good only disappointment was the desserts, all of our table got desserts, most couples sharing the difference in portions were crazy! When price was the same. The cheesecake was good but was a small sliver of a piece. Not a deal breaker but the reason for only three stars was this they will no way shape or form break up the check , have a table of 20?? Dinner starts with a unimaginative salad, house dressing only. The prime rib was 9/10. You choose the size and how done you want it. It comes with baked potato and bread, tiny slice of watermelon. Service was adequate. Setting is unbelievable--1800s building with pressed tin ceiling on the main street through town (Harrison's is Hwy 24). Prices amazing--we had two prime rib dinners with a margarita for $47! Limited wine menu--more margaritas than wine. Loved it. read more

I just left Quincy's. In my opinion this place survives only because there isn't a McDonalds in town. Not my first trip so the following applies to multiple visits. Short & Simple: If you only do one thing you better be good at it. They are not. Not.Even.Close. Beef was inferior and was vastly over cooked after 45 minute wait. If we hadn't been so hungry we would have left immediately. Not rocket science to cook steak to temperature. Even a caveman could do it. Baked potato was so under cooked that you had to use a knife to cut. Strangely the potatoes was cut open in the kitchen so they had to know what was going out. Stars are for the cool building, great bottled beer and the nice waitress. Have a beer and admire the building - then eat somewhere else. read more

Food - no stars Staff - 4 stars Went last night and ordered prime rib. Holy moley was it disgusting! It was over tenderized or it was boiled. The "meat" had a weird texture, it kind of mushed in your mouth like sawdust would. There was absolutely no chewiness about it. A person with no teeth could easily gum it safely. With prime rib being the only thing they served last night it should have been at least edible. The au jus was the same as you would get in a diner with your French dip. The salad had iceberg lettuce, 2 cucumber slices and shredded cheese on top. You cannot chose your salad dressing - at all. It's ranch type dressing with a fancy name. They will offer you lemon slices instead. The potatoes are fine. The same as you can cook in your oven. The problem? Your choice of any 2 toppings! Butter and sour cream, that's it. They have cheese on the salads but you aren't able to get it on your potato. No other toppings, it's mind boggling! There was a slice of cantaloup on the side it wasn't a big deal. The bread was fine. It was a slice of French bread, I got a square of butter to go with it. Dessert was cheesecake - they were out of the other choice. The cheesecake was not made by them so it was ok. Bad thing about the cake? No graham cracker crust - no crust at all. The topping was good. The other posts about how good this place is? They have to be bogus. The guy that posted on 6/5 has to be fake. The post is exactly the same as the last night. The only difference is that it's a totally different guy! Last night the guy's last name was Henderson or something like it. Tonight? A Hispanic last name and different picture. I feel bad for the town having a dishonest business. Also, he reviewed a pizza place at the best in the world. This is Leadville! We would have heard about it at least in Denver if it's that good. A few other reviews say the same thing. Wow, can't believe I'm the first one to write about this place. Let me fill you in on "gotchas" first: only open for dinner, only one item on the menu, cash only. You'll only need to answer three questions about your food. What size do you want? How do you want it cooked? What do you want on your potato? Get the feeling this isn't for vegetarians? Quincy's serves beef. Prime Rib on Friday & Saturday, Bacon wrapped Filet on the other nights. That's it. Each meal comes with a small salad with house dressing, a dinner roll, and a baked potato. Now here's the kicker. You can order a 6, 9, 12, or 15(!) oz filet. The prices start at about $7.95 for the 6 oz, and increase by a couple of dollars for each step up. That's for the whole meal! The prime rib is similar but starts a few ounces larger. A friend and I each ordered a 9 oz filet, and with drinks & tips our total meal was about $28! I'm not a particular fan of the prime rib so only go on filet nights. But I would put the quality of the beef and cooking up against a Morton's or Ruth Chris anytime. There is just no comparison for the price. I usually only get up there in the winter, so don't know if the prices have increased any recently with rising costs across the board. But if you're in Leadville between about 4:30-9:30PM, and in the mood for an excellent steak or prime rib, then this is your place to go. read more
