The team at Quonset Auto Body was incredible. Quality work, customer focused and trust worthy--completed the work ahead of schedule. While driving from MI to RI, my front driver quarter demolished by a deer on Rt 80 in PA. The challenge was getting my car repaired within 2 weeks while I vacationed in RI. Gordon and his team finished 2 days ahead of scheduled. Gordon was very concerned that the work was done right the first time, as I could not easily return. During this check out, they found another serious safety problem with my rear axle. While the new problem was serious, the fix was simple and his team fixed it rapidly with no added cost-- and got me safely home. Having lived in RI as a teenager, I had numerous need for Quonset Auto Body in the 70's. I was always pleased with Gordon's Dad and Shorty. Got in a car accident and I knew a couple people that had used them so I brought my car here. I called first thing in the morning and told them I was in an accident and wanted to bring my car there, and asked if I needed an appointment or needed to contact my insurance first, or whatnot and how they wanted me to do it. The person on the phone said I could just come by anytime. Hearing that, I dropped my car later that afternoon. Turns out, I was talking to the answering service and not actually anyone there. They said they were backed up for over a month, and I needed an appointment. Explaining my situation, the owner did accommodate me, and ultimately the car was declared a loss, so I can only speak to their customer service skills. Which overall were fine. It would be helpful, in the future, if the answering service either identified itself as such, or didn't give answers without knowing the answer for sure. read more

I've used Quonset Autobody in the past and wish I wasn't leaving this but I was so disappointed with my experience today. I stopped in for an estimate on an interior/exterior detailing. I saw another estimate take place where the customer was unmasked and with two feet of the representative for at least the 15 minutes I was there. Unfortunately I won't be returning for this reason alone. The main concern with my own car was that it arrived to me from my company having supposedly been detailed. Whoever handled it initially did a really poor job. So I'm taking it to Quonset to get redone. I submitted images to my company who agreed to pay whatever was needed to get it back up to scratch so budget is not a concern. All that said I was told it would be unlikely they could help with the staining and to "make a list" of everything else because it isn't a "q-tip clean" and the guys can be busy and miss things... I fail to understand why I would bring it in at all then, least of all why it would cost $275 dollars. read more

My wife complained about the handling of her new 2011 Camry. She was upset that it did not handle like the Audi we had before the Camry. It was sloppy, and not very responsive. It was near totaled in an accident July 7,2011. Quonset auto body was very attentive and fixed it quickly. My wife noticed right away it tracked better, and steering was tight and responsive. The owner of the shop said the machine they use to align was a closer tolerance than the factory. Our car is truly, better than new. It took three tries before I could get someone to quote some minor body work. I had to repeatedly explain that this was not an insurance covered job. As a retiree I had budgeted for this work. I just wanted to make a 14 year old car a bit more presentable. I thought the quoted price ($2675.00) was fair for the scope of work. After a few days in the shop I got a call that it was ready. It wasn't until I got home when I realized that the antenna had been damaged and there were some scratches in the console. Going forward I hope to find a shop that actually cares about customer satisfaction. Doing a conscientious job should not be limited to customers using insurance proceeds but to all regardless of how deep the cash pocket might be. read more

Incredible! Magnificent! Look no further. Sadly, I hit a large deer with a Toyota Prius C. The front end was smushed and crumpled. Another problem was the impossible to match "Moonglow" opalescent color. It was a sparkly off white pearl with many subtle colors. They returned the car to its off-the-lot brand new look and perfectly matched the Moonglow. I didn't think it was possible. Quonset Auto Body went the extra mile and detailed the car. They made my 164,000 mile car look like it I just drove away for the first time from Tarbox. Great customer service and really great people. These guys rock. read more

Quonset Auto Body did a wonderful job fixing my car. My Chevy Malibu's front left bumper was smashed during a hit and run and I'd heard from locals (and even the Chevy Dealer) that Quonset Auto Body was the best place to take my car. The owner, Gordon, takes great pride in his work and answered every one of my many questions! He called me every few days to give me updates and worked closely with my insurance provider (even though the insurance company had messed up my claim multiple times - Gordon was the one to sort out their mistakes). When the insurance company sent replacement parts with poor quality, Gordon refused to put them on my car and worked with my insurance company to acquire better replacements. He went the extra mile to ensure I had the best customer experience. My Malibu looks beautiful - they did a full detail. They also have a full paint shop so the metallic red that is very hard to match looks perfect. You could never tell the car has been in an accident. The car also handles perfectly. My truck that I love like a child was hit by some texting teenager blowing through a red light. I wouldn't trust her to anybody but Quonset Auto Body even though they are a good distance away. We have had a previous vehicle repaired by them and I was impressed with their professionalism and quality. My dad restores antique cars so I basically grew up in a body shop and know what to look for in a repair job. I requested Quonset Auto Body immediately from my insurance provider when I reported the accident, and was happy to wait for the tow truck to arrive from North Kingstown. I was very apprehensive about how well she could be repaired, but talking with Gordon eased my mind considerably, enough so that I could sleep at night (did I mention I'm a little crazy about my baby?) When I came to pick her up, my truck was waiting in the lot, and my son is happy to tell all his friends how I cried like a baby when I saw her. She was beautiful again! They even detailed the inside which I really appreciate. Gordon was out of town at the time but he made sure to call me to check up on my satisfaction and assure me that if anything goes wrong, to call them to take care of it. I'm not sure what is up with these bad reviews but this place was great! I had a Yukon back up into (and only) my Honda Fit which resulted in front end damage and I just got my car back today and it looks fantastic! The receptionist is very pleasant and helpful, even when I asked the same question in three different ways because I had never dealt with a situation like this before. Lou who did the repairs was more than helpful and I loved getting text updates so I knew the progress they were making. They only had my car for a week and part of that was getting the estimate for the insurance company/parts. I have to say, my car looks better than ever! I also am someone who always has a messy car and when they returned my car it was so clean inside and out! Trust me, my car hasn't been that clean since they day I purchased it. I can't really say they were professional but they got the job done. When asked about when I would have my car back APPROXIMATELY they did not give me an answer as they avoided the question. After repeatedly nagging for an answer I got one. Karen was not helpful whatsoever. While I kept hoping to have it done in a hurry, Gordon assured me that it had to be done correctly. Just back from my most recent visit (of WAY too many over the years -- don't ask). And, as always, I'm very happy. The body work itself is always top-quality, and they make it very easy to navigate the insurance, rental car, and other details. MUCH more important: They're honest. This was one (not the first) where they could have told me I needed thousands worth of body work, and I'd have frowned, called my insurer, and approved it. This time: total cost was $50. Seriously. Because they saw they could get it almost-new with some buffing. That's a record low for one of our fender-benders, but we've had others where we (and our insurer) could have paid a lot more than we did. Addendum: I initially posted the review below. The manager of quonset auto body immediately fixed the situation. The error was on the part of the insurance company and Hertz and not on Quonset Auto body. My truck was repaired and looks great. The manager at Quonset had apparantly done a great deal of work behind the scenes to get the insurance company and Hertz to fix the error which is now being done. The truck was fixed and looks good. However it took over a week in which I was in a rental car they arranged and told me would be covered by insurance. Insurance has now declined to cover the rental car because they informed me Quonset auto body ordered the wrong parts and should be responsible for the rental bill. In any case, my credit card was billed $375.45 and neither Quonset auto body nor insurance will accept responsibility and reimburse me. read more

Wow, was I pleasantly surprised. We are in RI for thw summer and had to have some body work done on our car. A friend recommended Qounset Auto Body and we were not disappointed.
