I have hesitated to leave a review for Michael as I have the fear that he will get too busy :). I bought a used Land Cruiser from a somewhat deceiving car dealership - as a mom of two teens, I wanted something safe and reliable. The car has (unfortunately) needed multiple repairs since, and Michael has been responsive, kind to my kids, funny and calming - one time I called him while driving with my son to his baseball game, crossing Snoqualmie Pass, at night - and he walked me through checking to see that the sound I was hearing meant the car was safe to drive. I was so grateful! Today, he came to check on a leak I noticed under the car. Here he is, crawling under the hood to check every last thing that could be wrong. He also figured out how to get my sunroof to close completely, right then, just because I mentioned that it seemed like air was blowing in. I feel that I have a trustworthy, intelligent and dependable person to call anytime I need car help, and as a single parent who knows nothing about car repairs, this is beyond appreciated!! If you want your money to disappear without a trace, look no further. I approached R&K Automotive with the hope of professional and reliable service. However, after paying over $4,000, the essential repairs I was charged for were not completed as agreed upon. Attempts to seek clarity and resolve the matter have been met with noncommittal responses and unacceptable delays He had my car for 2 months to attach parts sold to me at a 200% mark up that were never used, a hood attached via zip ties, and a demand for another $2,000! Promises from Michael are like cars on blocks -- going nowhere fast. His grand finale was a threat to sue me for "false definition of character" because I left him a bad review on Google. Great customer service, flexible and affordable. Car started overheating and leaking fluid on a Friday night. Saturday morning I called to see if I could bring it in. Not only did they have quick availability to check it out, the gentleman I spoke with offered to come to me so i didn't have to run the risk of it overheating on the way. After a quick look they knew exactly what the issue was, called their guy to get the part and they replaced it same day right out front of my house! I contacted Michael to replace the O2 sensor, and he completed the work and charged me. The engine light came off for less than one day and then it came on again. I took the car back to him and he said I needed to replace the other O2 sensor, and he completed the work and charged me. Less than one day later, it came on again. I took the car to the dealership, and they told me that he had completely stripped the threads to the catalytic converter and ruined it when he installed the two 02 sensors, and that I now have to replace my catalytic converter which has a $3000 cost. I reached out to him requesting a refund and he promised me he would refund the parts and I never saw my money. Do not do business with him, and don't make the same mistake. TLDR: Absolutely fantastic service. Listen, no one likes having car problems, but it will happen to all of us at some point and when it does, the last thing you want to have to worry about is finding a mechanic that's honest and won't rip you off. On 5/2 my Subaru left me stranded out of town and so had to be towed home. Early 5/3 I looked on Craigslist for a local mobile mechanic who could come out and fix my vehicle somewhat last minute. This is where I saw an ad for R and K Automotive. I sent them a message, letting them know what I needed done and asked if & when they would be able to come out and take a look at my Subaru. 15 minutes later I got a reply back from Mike. We talked about what my cars issues were and was told he could come out immediately if needed. I told him that would really help me out as I had to work the next day. Not only did he have to drive an hour and a half just to get to me, he also stopped before he got to my house, on good faith I might add, and purchased all the needed parts for me so I wouldn't have to find a ride to the local parts store before he arrived. As soon as Mike & his brother arrived, they worked as a team and 2 hours later, my cars drivability and oil leaks were fixed and my car, literally was running like new. As I had bought the Subaru used, I was concerned if other work had been done, namely the head gaskets and other repairs as I had been told they had been. Mike was able to verify that the repairs had in fact been done as well as showing me proof. Its one thing to be told, it's quite another to be shown. For the record, I'm not affiliated with R&K Automotive in any way, I am just genuinely appreciative of the service I received. I have since added their # to my cell and while I hope I won't need their services again anytime soon (LOL) I will NOT hesitate to call them should I need their excellent service again. I want to totally recommend Michael and R and K Automotive. Michael was very helpful with a very confusing issue with the emissions system on my 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. He got me the fairest price for a specialty part and had it overnighted so I could have it fixed right away. While waiting for the part he went out of his way to optimize the safety and function of the car which put me at ease. He was very thorough, explained everything he was doing, even looking under the hood with me. I found him to be super responsive by phone and text, and an excellent communicator. I would definitely call this company again as my car is aging out and I need an honest, trustworthy communicative mechanic who won't do unnecessary repairs. read more
