R&R built our deck with a pergola, and we couldn't be happier! We did our research and interviewed several companies before choosing R&R for the following reasons: 1) they offered a full solution (deck + pergola), 2) they handled the city permits which gave us peace of mind, and 3) they arranged tours of properties of their completed projects (with the owners' permission) so we could see materials and features and inspect the workmanship up close. Special shout-out to their project manager Tamir who is an excellent communicator and a pleasure to work with! The timeline ran longer than we expected, but, in fairness, some delays (like permitting) are outside anyone's control, so set your expectations accordingly. The design phase was smooth, the company provided clear renderings which we approved. Construction wasn't without a hiccup or two, but all issues were eventually resolved. The finished result is fantastic! (I hope the photos speak for themselves.) The deck feels like a natural extension of the house, same level as indoors and matching the flooring color, so the indoor-outdoor flow is seamless. Build quality feels rock solid. The pergola's motorized louvers are operated by a remote, and the pergola is effectively watertight when the louvers are closed. Our neighbors saw the deck, loved it, and signed up with R&R for their backyard project. I think that speaks volumes. R&R recently completed a project to replace our old concrete patio with pavers, replace a concrete side path with paver stepping stones, cover a retaining wall with stacked stone facing & cap, and add lighting. The work looks amazing and overall we are pleased with it, as well as the communication and responsiveness during the project. There were definitely some challenges during the project, some due to us changing our minds regarding paver type, and then a delay in sourcing samples, and some due to R&R. Our project manager, JR, was fantastic to work with and made sure up until the very end (and beyond!) that we were happy with the work and outcome. However when he got Covid the project veered off track. We felt the work suffered without the necessary oversight and some things had to be redone which they were but it wasn't ideal. The upfront design phase was very helpful for my husband who had a hard time visualizing the outcome and the designs were very useful to refer back to, as well as the detailed plan. Unfortunately our project didn't include plants and so we did those ourselves. In retrospect I wish I'd had R&R execute the whole vision of our project. read more

I would highly recommend R&R for any outdoor remodeling project. We had a fairly large space in our backyard after having our pool removed. We decided to go all out and hire a design company. We used the final design to get bids on our projects from various companies. Ron from R&R stood out as very professional, knowledgeable and was not pushy. He gave me a sense of confidence from the beginning and so we decided to work with them. Comparing my project with those in the neighborhood and friends from the bay area, our project is considered a fairly large project. The project included LOTS of pavers, tiles and concrete pouring, high end kitchen and shed, lights and landscaping. In the end, the final results that R&R created was spectacular and looks like the original design we had envisioned. One thing that stood out was that they always try their best to make me happy. There were many incidents and challenges that were out of R&R's control and they just rolled with the challenges and just got things done. As an example, halfway through the project, I suddenly decided to get city permits for everything (gas, electrical, and drainage) which required quite a bit of rework and slowed down the momentum of the project. Ron never complained about it and just worked with me on this new direction I decided to take. Another HUGE plus for me was that they used a group in WhatsApp for project management. I'm pretty detail oriented so I had many questions and requests throughout the life of the project. With the WhatsApp group, I had access to the team all the time. It would have been such a challenge if I had to use text messages or email to convey all of my requests. We are so glad that we ended up working with R&R. read more

R&R redid our cedar deck that had gotten damaged by a fast-growing tree because it was not built properly by the original contractors. R&R were one of very few companies we reached out to who had the expertise to properly layout the new deck, and took the time to accommodate our wish to reuse as much of our existing cedar as possible. Ours was a relatively small job -- just reframing, sanding, and staining a deck, plus adjusting a misaligned fence, but R&R nevertheless treated us like an important client. Unlikely most contractors who require chasing by phone and text, R&R is very organized and uses a WhatsApp group that you can message any time. Our project manager JR was thoughtful and kind, and the lead framer Luis was very skillful. Ron came by for the initial quote, as well as few other times to make sure any concerns I had were addressed. R&R's team is very responsive and even offered suggestions for our deck to look even better. For example, we had a problem with one of our fences that I didn't think could be fixed but JR and Luis chatted, and came up with a solution which I'm very happy about! The R&R team really do want to make sure you are satisfied with everything, even if it means that they have to come back to perfect something. R&R was super quick to respond and provide us with a quote for a new patio. We set the date and were told that the work would completed within a week. It took us many calls and constant following up to ensure they actually came every day to do the work. No proactive communication. Prices weren't competitive (the same quotes we got from other companies) but the company changed the contract from the quote for the same price (they omitted a few items). We got them to complete everything but it was a battle. The patio looked OUTSTANDING, absolutely beautiful. For about 2 months.... When we needed our deck to be redone as the previous one had dry rotted, we went looking to see who would be a good candidate to do the work. We got a few estimates, and while R&R was not the cheapest, they were the most professional and worked with us to get a design we were happy with. It started with Tamir coming over to look at the site in order to provide an initial estimate. After receiving the estimate, we had some questions which were promptly answered, allowing us to quickly get the process started. After deciding to go ahead, Tamir came back a few days later with tile samples as well as available grout colors for us to look over and decide as to the type of tile and pattern we wanted. After making a decision, Tamir took care of having the materials ordered, and once they came in, work was scheduled to begin. We hired R&R for a backyard job that involves installing paver, sod, irrigation system, later also added electrical system. It was very pleasant working with Ron and the crew from R&R. I would recommend any friend to choose R&R for couple reasons: Pricing is very reasonable: we had quoted 4-5 contractor for the job and R&R was not the cheapest but demonstrated the highest professionalism. And after the job is finished, i would say they are the best value you get for the price! Ron is a very good PM. Communicate with him is easy and straightforward. He is knowledgeable about the technical detail and can layout the pros and cons clearly for us to make an educated decision but won't strong sell you for either option. More importantly, he will go above and beyond to help optimize the work for us. For example, we saw that there are some sod left after the job and didn't want to waste it so we ask him to help lay it on another small area. We didn't know the work involve and thought it would be a simple job. Ron told us that it takes time and labor to prep the dirt and ground but still go ahead and did it anyway without extra charge. He always have customer in mind and would go the extra mile if necessary. The crew is also very professional. They always come early around 8 or before and work sometimes until 7pm. but they are also very considerate and always ask if it's okay to work later because some neighbor might prefer quiet evenings. R&R re-did our backyard patio. Relatively small job at 200 sq ft. They estimated 2 wks. It took 2 wks. Work started promptly after contract signed. Workers were excellent...craftsmen rather than laborers...and R&R supervisors were frequently on sight. Workmanship was superb. Patio with pavers had started buckling. Base dug up, raised and refurbished. Leaky watering system was repaired. New paving tiles with sealed grouting was installed. Neighbor saw the work and will copy it with them.
