Service was prompt and professional. We each had a pizza. I had the Mushroom, she had the Eliseo. Both came out within a reasonable amount of time. I was disappointed in my pizza. It had no outstanding flavors. No spice. The dough was flat, the onions were slimy. I didn't enjoy it, yet I ate it all as I was hungry and I hate wasting food. The dining room was loud, as expected on a Friday night. I left a bit disappointed in the menu options.

The staff is pleasant, fun, and efficient. The atmosphere is calming and beautiful and they have a full bar. Sorry I started eating forgetting to take a photo. The food initially covered the whole plate. Cheese ravioli with Italian sausage (huge portion). Came with salad or soup and bread. The dinner salad is quite tasty and they always have two types of soup, if you prefer soup. We had Tiramisu and cannoli for desert and they are both tasty and light. I so recommend this restaurant.

When I asked her not to because it was almost 80 degrees outside she told me the other table requested it. She didn't offer to move us away from the heater when all other tables on the patio were open (there were only two parties outside, including us). It was strange and also very warm for us. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer and when I say they were some of the smallest meatballs I ever saw, I'm not exaggerating. Imagine the bagged meatballs you buy from the grocery store when making crock pot bbq meatballs- that was the size and it comes with 3. Definitely not worth the price. But the flavors were good. I also ordered the chicken parm and it was delicious. The portion was also generous and made up for the meatballs. I was very happy with that dish. Finally, I ended with a slice of tiramisu which was also very yummy. When we finished our desserts, we waited over a half hour for the waiter to come back with the bill, but he never did. One of us went inside to ask for the bill and the hostess told us our waiter would be right there. The waiter did show up again but only to take two orders (there were two other tables seated at this time, which made us the third table outside now). He didn't acknowledge our table or say he'd be right back with the check. We even tried to get his attention, but he hurried back inside quickly without acknowledging us. All of us got up and walked to the hostess for our bill and we still had to wait a few more minutes for the waiter to show up with it. There was no acknowledgment of the wait for our bill and nothing was done to make sure everything was good with us. It was treated as if we were still sitting at the table and everything was fine. It was a strange experience for how nice the restaurant appears. Although the food had great flavor, I would not recommend. I would have given it more stars of the service was better.

Every bite was delicious. Their bolognese has a serious kick to it so if you are not into spicy food I would skip it. We got a tiramisu for dessert and it was spectacular!! One or actually two comments I must make which were unpleasant. The bread was served in the bread basket covered with a napkin and it was very cold as if it just came out of the fridge. In about 5 minutes after delivering the bread a young lady who was not our server came up to us and asked if she could take it away. We said that it just arrived, however, she was somewhat insistent so we let her take it away. She took the basket, the oil, the vinegar and the plate with an uneaten slice of bread. Food arrived just 15 min later and was piping hot and delicious. The lasagna is a good sized portion (roughly 5x7) and is generously filled with meat. Taste is amazing with medium-firm pasta and a nice crust across the top and sides. The ricotta calzone came with a side of marinara (yay) for dipping as there is no sauce inside. Roughly 2 dozen toppings are available, ranging from $3-$8+. I opted for the meatballs ($8.50) and was slightly disappointed. The meatballs are crumbled within the calzone (understandable) but not pronounced in quantity. I would prefer larger pieces (halves work at this size - after all I ordered meat-ball not meet-ground ;) However, for $8 (a 75% upcharge) my chief gripe is that I was simply expecting more. Next time pepperoni/mushrooms! Ambiance is lovely and waitstaff were awesome -- gracious, knowledgeable about menu specifics, and attentive. Parking is free/easy at this corner of a small strip mall. Can't wait to try their new Detroit menu too! Note: due to Rene's smaller size (less than 10 tables total) and high demand, all reservations (any day) require a credit card to hold. This is entirely understandable as even one no-show is a measurable hit to keeping a full house. I also have kids yet 100% embrace their patio-only policy when with kiddos.
