This is a true Californian coastal restaurant with a fun, social scene. Reservations are strongly suggested any day of the week because they are known for their Happy Hour and regular menu. On the evening that we arrived, we placed a reservation knowing that we would still have to wait and we had hoped for a seat at the bar. It was very crowded so we were able to get a drink and wait outside. The evening was lovely and we enjoyed paople watching until we were seated. Service was good and our food arrived fresh and at the right temperature. It was a fun evening and the neighborhood is also really nice to check out before or after the meal.

First time in, and we had a great meal. We put our name on and walked around for a bit since it was a bit of a wait. Once we were seated the service was excellent. We had a duo duo - the chips were perfectly salted and warm, with guac and "queso" - basically a creamy pimento cheese dip which was delicious. I had the generously-sized Ding's Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and my dining partners had a burger with fries and the ribs. They were all very good, but I think it was a tie between the ribs and the chicken sandwich for a winner. Laidback vibes - seems likes like a spot people in the neighborhood gravitate toward.

4.5/5 Great service, tasty food, and amazing drinks. Love that it's so close to home. The vibe is cozy and perfect for a date night. Definitely one of our favorite neighborhood spots!

GET THE SMOKED ALBACORE dip, do it! It's soooo good the salting crackers are the perfect combo. I also ordered the shrimp it came Ruth cause of melted butter delicious! Couldn't get enough. I ordered the cheeseburger - this is their popular item on the menu they prepare the meat every morning for that days business. It took about 25 minutes for a table but we grabbed a glass of wine while we waited. Our waiter was very friendly, cheerful and helpful. It's perfect for family- kid friendly, large parties and date nights. I would definitely return for the apps and burger. I'm certain everything on the menu is just as great as what I ordered.

R&D Kitchen never disappoints. The chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the Chinese noodle salad was fresh and delicious. Great food, great service, and a consistently enjoyable dining experience. They don't take reservations, so be prepared for a wait during busy times--but it's well worth it.

You have to go here. Casual or fancy. You can choose the vibe. They have a classic bar menu that can be a classy dinner. Sit and enjoy. The service is respectful and fun. You will feel like you are special and that's why you went out to spend your bucks, right? Oh, and it's cashless only. So if you don't want the government to know where you ate, make someone else pay.

Great food overall, efficient/attentive service, and cozy ambiance. Great for either casual or date vibes.

Greeted by our very kind waiter, we were served the most delicious toasted bread, butter(s) and rock salt from La Boulangerie. As a film nut, of course I ordered the Cinema Paradiso, this is a very imaginative cocktail recipe, like a an Old Fashioned but with a movie theater twist, kindly served with a pinch of candy kettle-corn at our table by the mixologist herself; what a playful and tasty delight! For starters, we are ordered the Mini-French-Onion Grilled Cheese and Hamachi Crudo. Both absolutely delicious. The Hamachi Crudo Leche de Tigre sauce is beyond perfect. The balance of flavors between charriness of the bread and melted cheeses, and tangy onion soup dip...just wow. Then the steak! Accompanied by a delicious Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we shared between two, a perfectly cooked (medium rare of course, don't be basic) N.Y. Strip (au poivre sauce on the side) with au gratin, and it came with nice little on the vine roasted tomatoes and a little leafy salad...like I told Chef when he came to our table post meal: "INCROYABLE!". Every-Single-Bite!! But, aside every dish being perfect and the service being above and beyond, what literally brought me to tears was the dessert. I haven't had "floating islands" since my mom used to make it many, many moons ago (unfortunately ma is now at early dementia), and when I tasted my first spoonful here, I couldn't hold back the tears, memories flooded and complimented by the preceding meal which was perfect...too many feels. Merci Beaucoup! For a VERY special culinary experience to all at La Monique. Please don't change a thing. I rarely ever make the effort to write a review, but this is very much worth every second. We'll be coming back for sure. Feel like I just discovered fire.

This is completely unacceptable and feels like fraud. To make things worse, the food was completely average -- nothing special at all and definitely not worth the prices they charge. I've never experienced anything like this, even at the most basic places. This is beyond unprofessional and extremely disappointing. I would strongly advise others to double-check their receipts and statements after visiting this restaurant.

There are 3 mini golf courses here. First one is very mediocre; the first thought that crossed my mind was that I've experienced better. The unique part of this place stood out in the next 2 courses which are both up on the next floor. It's unlike most mini golf courses bringing elements of luck, nostalgia and other games (the last course isn't really golfing). Had I known about these courses sooner, I would have skipped the first course entirely to spend more time here. There are places to sit such as couches and benches on this top floor if you feel like taking a break. There's also a karaoke room if you want to sing with your group. The food and drinks are all available on the same floor as the first course. It's very much a balcony bar vibe. The dining area goes from inside the building to the balcony giving it some al fresco feel.

The actual indoor mini golf is only 9 holes so it's just enough to have a bit of fun without it dragging on. Our server, Elvis, aka the Big Dill, was amazing! Loved his outfit and his energy. He was kind, energetic, and helpful from the get-go. Was very on top of getting us drinks and settled in asap. He let us know when all our food was ready as we were playing (we had everything pre-ordered) and was just attentive and great overall. The food itself was pretty mediocre, but I didn't have high expectations there so it was pretty on par (golf pun intended).

I was instantly so glad we chose this spot to celebrate our anniversary because it was the perfect setting for a romantic date night. Now, let's talk about the food! Everything we ordered was delicious, with the exception of the Korean aguachiles, which we probably could've skipped. We also tried the bluefin bibimbap, oysters, and the oh-so-tender short rib that practically melted in our mouths. But the most unforgettable dish was also the simplest: the Korean fried chicken. It wasn't necessarily something out of the ordinary, but it sure tasted like it. The perfect crisp, flavor, and seasoning had us eating every last piece right down to the bone. Our server also made the experience even better. She gave us some of the best recommendations and were incredibly attentive and friendly throughout the entire meal. A great appetizer to order for the table. 2. HUMMUS: The hummus was delicious with the pita! Another great appetizer to share. 3. GREEK FRIES: The fries were flavorful and came with two dips. If you're a big fan of fries I would recommend. The portion size was decent. 4. CHARRED OCTOPUS: The octopus was good and tender, but I feel like the main dishes we ordered fell flat compared to the appetizers. 5. JIDORI HALF CHICKEN: The chicken was okay, a little dry despite the shakshuka sauce. SERVICE (5/5): Service was good! AMBIENCE (4/5): Fun rooftop restaurant in Santa Monica. I was seated at table that didn't have the best views, but seeing the sunset with the comfort of a heater was still pleasant. PARKING (3/5): I parked street, but they may have valet - not sure. TAKEAWAYS: I liked Calabra and would have loved to try even more of their offerings - the branzino especially caught my eye. Unfortunately I probably won't be going back because although the food is good, it doesn't justify the price point. For reference, Bestia's marinated olives appetizer is 9 dollars, while Calabra's is 16.

The beauty of Mediterranean food is that it's perfect to share with large groups. Because I had some fellow vegetarians (and veg friendly people) with me, ordering was quite fun. We almost ordered every vegetarian mezze, which included: Mezze sampler: the Muhammara was my favorite of them all and the naan was amazing. Very soft, but flavorful. Sprouted cauliflower: interesting way they made it. Golden tahini had a nice touch. Pickled vegetables: loved them Greek fries: can't go wrong with that Roasted sweet potato: surprisingly quite good and a very different palate from the fries. Baked feta: interesting, but this wasn't a fan favorite amongst the group. While our non-vegetarian colleagues enjoyed the octopus, we were nearly full with just the mezze. We decided to go ahead and order the mushroom skewers while the other side enjoyed the tomahawk. Everyone was full after all this food. The cocktails kept flowing. I stuck with just one Urfa mezcalita while enjoying the views for the remainder of the night. This lasted until dessert where plenty were ordered. I got a chocolate gelato not realizing I'd get two scoops. Sadly I could only finish one scoop. Anyhow, there are heaters all over the rooftop so that people can enjoy throughout the year. They do have to crank it up as needed, but it's there. Can't mention price much because this was work sanctioned, but it was a great decision.
