Finally I got a hold of Barry Lee's and the employee I spoke to on the phone (who also happened to be very polite) told me they did have the right tires in stock And they were $40 apiece, including installation. I brought the car in the next morning and they were able to get me in almost right away. One of their guys showed me a few different options and let me pick the ones that looked best. I was in and out of there quickly with a very decent set of used tires for a great price. One note: this place is very old-school. Imagine the exact opposite of an antiseptic, corporate Firestone. The guy I assume to be the owner is a biker type, and the place is a bustling, cluttered garage. Personally I love this kind of business and it's a bummer that shops like this are pretty much a dying breed. Highly recommended for honest prices and good service.

He said it let it sit and try again. The next morning I called David at Bayside Tire and Auto and told him the story. He asked if the warning lights had come on, which they hadn't. His instructions were to only bring it to him for replacement if the warning lights came on or it didn't eventually start. The problem was due to topping off after the pump stopped. There was a warning in my new vehicle's owner's manual to not ever do this. I highly value the honesty of Bayside Tire and Auto. Another repair center would have just replaced the carbon filter. He's never hit me with weird fees and is always upfront with what he thinks the project is going to be. He also does a really good job in explaining what's actually going on with your car. He's also upfront with whether there's a clear repair or if there's trouble shooting. The only issue with going to Brent is that he's super busy and you're not going to get the same turn around that you would in a commercial shop; but I just see that as the trade off for honest service and reasonable pricing. The transparency is so nice. I've been going to him for years. He's the only person I trust with my pink bug and he needs more press.
