I came here for an event and we ate the following items, toasted ravioli, salad with Italian dressing, garlic cheese bread, several pizzas with different toppings. Everything taste great! I was really impressed. I love close and never had this pizza before. The staff was so accommodating, patient and friendly to our large group. The decor looks like your standard pizzeria. My only complaint is their heat unit. Our went out and it's was freezing in the building. I'm glad I wore a sweater but that still wasn't enough. I would definitely return because of the food but I'll need to call ahead to make sure their heat is working before I decide to dine in. Otherwise order to go. I didn't take any pictures of the food because we were chatting and I was cold to snap pictures. I will return on the near future and will take pictures then. read more

Doing a tour of "NY/NJ" style pizzas. I've seen this one spoken about on a lot of pizza lovers sites so I had to try it out. It did not disappoint. We got a 16" double pepperoni pizza. Came out piping hot we had to wait a minute to bite into it. Foldability was excellent. Crust was the right thickness and bent appropriately and held up without collapsing. The crust has the right amount of crispness and crunch with the sauce being just right and not "dogging it up". The sauce was also the right taste not too sweet and not a lot of extra, just good tomato flavor and in the right amounts. They used real mozzarella cheese had good pull and not to stringy. Also had the right amount of "bubbles" (love that part). Back to the cheese maybe a bit too much but if you like it cheesy it was that. They provided the right amount of toppings too. Very good and true to a NY/NJ slice. The people were friendly. Service was fast. Ambiance? True to a NY hole in the wall pizza joint. Will come again! read more

Next customer in, a different worker said we have two slices available, they opted for a pie. We wanted slices so I'm confused. Not boding well for this review. Not sure what's going on over there? They are absolutely serving the worst pizza lately. Do they have new owners? The last few pizzas I've had delivered have been dry, less than "extra cheese" and filled with powder on the bottom. Dirty facility with no heating. Tried to buy two slices of pizza that they "ran out of" and when we inquired why it was taking so long the lady was rude to us. The day we went in, it was 100 degrees outside, so a tad on the warm side inside as well. They could update the decor to brighten up the place a bit. That's just a suggestion. The pizza from here was good. Nothing too special but if you need a pizza fix Racanellis is a good option. A bonus was this location was open on a Monday (their Webster groves location wasn't) We also ordered a small veggie chef salad. I'm not sure what to say about Racanelli's. I was pleased with one portion of my meal and totally disappointed in another. We decided to have out family lunch here and at first there was some great discussion about the difference between a calzone and a Stromboli. You place your order at the counter, then given a number to put on your table and they bring out your food. The back of the menu has lunch specials and he and I decided that we would do that. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant but I wasn't sure how to get to it. He went with the sandwich and garden salad. He said his turkey sandwich was okay as was the salad. I decided to go with the chef salad with garlic knots. My garlic knots seemed to be missing one key ingredient - garlic. This was what I was disappointed in. My sister also commented that her cheese garlic bread was missing garlic also. My chef salad came out and was huge. I had enough to take home for lunch tomorrow. Would I come back here? I love Racanellis pizza! Real mozzarella. Perfect Italian high temp crust: charred, crisp on outside, with that New York style chewiness on the inside. Very good sauce, garlicky, not too sweet like many local sauces. My favorite toppings here are the Italian sausage crumbled fine and oozing with herbs and fennel, Margarita (tomato/fresh basil), or just a slice of plain cheese which they LOAD on top. A "slice" here is humongous! And somehow tastes better than out of a whole pizza The customer service here is basic and sometimes very slow, but it is worth it to me to get my NY style fix. read more

I don't want to write negative reviews but 3 bad experiences in a row are just too much. I have had a few years of experience in the restaurant business in my life. When I order take out food I expect it to be ready when I arrive to pick it up. This Kirkwood location has been very reliable for several years but at the end of 2021 it changed. I'm not sure why. The pizza here USED to be fantastic. As a native NYC girl, I was thrilled to find Racanelli's. I don't know what happened. The pizza we had last week was a huge change, and it's not NY pizza .I think they have new management and new pizza makers. The crust was good, but the pizza was flavorless, the cheese tasted plastic-y, and the topping was all wrong. A sausage slice is not just throwing a few sausage crumbles on at the last minute. Let me start by saying the pizza was very good and my only complaint for that would be that there wasn't a bunch of cheese and the pizza wasnHowever it was very good and what I've come to expect from Racanelli's. I placed a togo order online and the estimated pickup time was 7:10. I got there and called at 07:07 and was informed that it was still in the oven and had 7 more minutes. I think some of the reviews are skewed! On that note each time I have ordered from this establishment they have been nice and I have never had any attitudes from any of the staff. I will give their pizza a solid 8, the cheese is gooey and stretchy (the way it should be) great sauce, and a good variety of pizza toppings. I would most definitely recommend this pizza place to those from Northeast while it's not like a "true NY pizza" it's definitely a tough one to boot and is well worth buying to get your pizza fix. Really solid Pizza. Better than Dewey's across the street. We usually get the Spinach Ricotta pizza (not sure if it's still on their menu, but they make it for us all the same!) Love the huge slices! Meatball parm was average. Needed more sauce and cheese. This might be the biggest dump of a pizza joint I've ever visited. Prior to the pandemic it had a filthy, dirty feel and was outdated. Poor quality booths, tables and chairs. The women's restroom door didn't lock. Chipping paint was visible behind the counter and kitchen. Basic stuff here! If you're a fan of NY style pizza, then you might like it. IMO, there's nothing special about it, but my kid loves it. What's concerning to me since the pandemic is that they don't open their lobby, but they don't require employees to wear a mask or deliver it curb side with a mask. At least not when I ordered. I had no idea the lobby was still closed until I picked up my order. Seems like they are hiding behind a closed lobby. What are they hiding? And why? One can only imagine, considering the condition of this place 2 years ago when patrons could enter. It was disgusting 2 years ago. I hope the health department has checked this place out recently. Employees not wearing masks, but the lobby being closed seems like a contradiction in standards. They don't want customers inside because it's not safe, yet Racanelli's aren't practicing the highest safety in food prep. This place has arguably the best Pizza in St. Louis. Why not 5 stars? Last time I went to the Kirkwood restaurant, 2/9/2024 their wings were terrible. Seriously-terrible. Still great pizza, but this place serves more than pizza. I'm still going here, but I'm considering never getting wings here again unless they improve. Being a NJ transplant, when I moved to St. Louis I was always looking for pizza that reminded me of home. I like proven cheese but the weird squares just doesn't do it for me. My now fiancé was trying to find pizza for me that I'd like and he took me here and it did remind me of home. When you took a bite of a slice, you have the nice fold and just a little bit of grease dripping down (which is a good thing if you're from where I'm from). The sauce is also some of the best that I've had. The atmosphere of the place reminds of pizza parlors back home and is casual and friendly. I love the pictures of New York that are on the walls. I've eaten a lot of great pizza in St. Louis but if you're craving NY style you've got to come here. read more

We just moved to this area from Las Vegas! We heard of Racanelli's by word of mouth and were extremely impressed!!!! We are huge NY style pizza snobs and this was exactly what we wanted! The pizza was perfection, the dough and crust divine and the sauce cheese pepperoni were on par! The garlic knots I can't even they were so good!! We also got the Racanellis Special sandwich on focaccia it did not disappoint! To top it off they gave us chips and homemade fudge brownies for being first time customers. Made an online order - was told it'd be ready at 6:40. Showed up at 6:35 and it wasn't ready (makes sense) so I thought "5mins = 1 beer". Nope - kid behind the counter said "Sorry we aren't selling beer today." They literally had 3 open taps and a happy hour sign on te floor for beer so I was like "ok, is it like a religious thing, orrr?" and the lady in the back said something about the owners. So no beer. We ordered pizza and chicken wings from this establishment through DoorDash. We were told that the restaurant was out of traditional wings and were going to substitute boneless wings. Fine. But when we finally received our order, it had neither. When we called the restaurant to ask about still getting wings (boneless or otherwise) we were told the kitchen was closed.
