I don't mean to be a grumpy pants, but this VERY expensive Chicago hotel kind of made me mad more than once during my two day stay here in April 2026. My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights as it was the hotel hosting our friend's wedding and they reserved a block of rooms for their guests. The most egregious thing they did was charge us $150 refundable fee for each night "just in case." But it was in tiny print and you can imagine my boyfriend's surprise when he got a nearly $1000 charge on his credit card when we checked in. It was already $660 for two nights! (I paid half of that btw). Fortunately, he got the $300 back a few days later but this kind of stuff can be frightening to people who do not have that kind of money on hand. Next, I must mention the second worst thing about this hotel is the fact that there is no usable room fridge here. A very expensive mini bar that has sensors charging you if anything is moved, but no actual empty fridge! So I couldn't make room in the mini bar to put in leftovers or, god forbid, medication, without being charged for "taking out" their expensive mini bar items! I could mention many more negatives, but here's just a few - no free water bottles, the outdoor pool was closed, only 20 channels on the TV and half were hotel related, and the mattress wasn't that great. Now why is this a 3 star review and not a 1 or 2 star review? Well, it's a gorgeous hotel in a fantastic location, the staff is friendly, and the gym was incredible and huge and had everything you'd ever need. But what I liked most of all was not about our stay but about the fabulous job the Radisson Blu Aqua did as the event venue for our friend's wedding. While I don't think I want my wedding to be at a hotel, the event team and catering did a great job for our friends and that makes me not as much as a grumpy gus as I sounded like in the first half of my review. I don't think I'll stay here again as a guest but I'd be pleased to attend another wedding here!

Dirty hairdryer, we did not use it at all but this is nasty and a fire hazard

They have the amenities to be a 5 star hotel but they don't use them correctly nor is their staff trained. I stayed for 4 nights and when we checked in the front desk was very dismissive and rushed through it without explaining anything about the property. We had to go and ask a different front desk to explain everything to us including amenities and breakfast. They don't ensure that their systems are updated because they told us breakfast was not included in our stay because we had the lowest tier in the choice program (their version of getting points for your stay and such like delta sky miles). We actually are the highest tier and showed them as such. When they realized they suddenly became extra nice. They should be nice and friendly to ALL guests not just those with the highest tier in the program. Then one of our items was stolen and we asked security to check the cameras, we told him what time we checked in, a 15 minute window of which it could've been stolen and he said he'd get back to us. He never did. When we had the front desk call him to come speak to us, he said he saw us but he didn't see anybody take our stuff. We asked to see the cameras, he said no, but said that nothing was stolen at that time in the morning. Obviously he does not listen very well because we told him THREE times that we checked in at night so he infact did not see us on the camera and was just lying. This happened on day 2 of our stay. On day 3 we got ready and went down to breakfast, when we come back to our room after breakfast, it's obvious that somebody went in and did something to one of our toothbrushes. I don't know if it was housekeeping or if the security guy wanted to retaliate for us calling him out about lying but there was dirt, hair and all types of nastiness on one of our toothbrushes. It seemed they scrubbed the floor or the toilet with it, it was absolutely disgusting (I'll add a picture as well). They also don't clean the hair drier as we never once used it during our stay but there was tons of dust and lint on it which is a fire hazard. At this point we didn't say anything else to the staff because all other hotels were booked and we were afraid of what they would do next. We stayed in an accessible room that is actually not accessible at all. It has a very high tub that was difficult to get into, also their shower/tub area is built poorly where no matter what you do water gets on the floor. The room door is also very heavy so if your in a wheelchair by yourself it's going to be a struggle to get into and out of your room every time. Finally on top of everything they have a pool and a hot tub which would be great... if they cleaned it. The hot tub was full of foam which happens from a chemical imbalance, it was nasty, and you couldn't be near it for more than 10 minutes before you started tearing up from all the chlorine they add to it. Overall I would never stay here again unless they learn to clean common areas like the hot tub, actually make sure their accessible rooms are accessible and the staff learn hospitality no matter their account status as well as to not use guests toothbrushes to clean the floor or whatever disgusting thing they did.

Gorgeous hotel in downtown. It's actually one of my favorites, across from the Fairmont and around the corner from the Hyatt on Wacker. It is beautiful inside, and I was pleasantly surprised my room ready when I arrived several hours early for my conference during this stay. I was given a room with an awesome view on the top floor. The room was clean and had everything I needed. Loved the jacuzzi tub and the large, separate shower. Plenty of outlets and toiletries and ample space. My king sized bed was super comfortable. Loved it! There is ample seating in the lobby, the conference area/meeting rooms are well appointed, and there's a Starbucks, even though they don't accept the app. Parking is ridiculously priced as it is at all of the downtown hotels, but I found a less expensive spot around the corner using an app. This was a short stay but I really enjoyed it and would definitely stay again.

I stayed here for the last two nights with my children who are 10 and 12. Upon arrival staff was very friendly. The main areas of the hotel are very chic and designed beautifully. The hotel itself is beautiful. The amenities are aged however, the rooms seem modern until you look closer and see scratches and dents and many other aesthetic items that are breaking or broke. All of these things are to be expected with a hotel however, cleanliness for me is by far the number one thing I look for. There were bugs above the bed all throughout a picture frame, which was utterly disgusting. There were stains in the hot tubs as you'll see from the photos and clumps of hair overall, just a really gross hotel once you get past the cool design of the main foyer areas. We ended up eating at their restaurant on the main level. The burger was very good however, calamari was absolutely inedible. I would definitely not go back for the price.

Stay here while doing a training with Microsoft from Sept 10-13th. Really enjoyed the hotel. It was in walking distance of the park, training building & other restaurants. Room was very nice. Loved the decor. The hotel had an outdoor pool & hot tub on the roof. Hot tub wasn't very hot though. Beautiful views of the Chicago skyline. Also had an indoor pool & a hot tub. Unfortunately the children took over the indoor pool & hot tub.

Another wonderful stay here last weekend. Love the architecture. Very happy with front desk staff. Polite, friendly, and helpful. Room 1125 is our crash pad for a couple nights. It is a corner room with a great view of the park below and glimpses of the river and Lake Michigan. Room was clean. Because it is a corner room it has a L shaped living space. Something different for us. Small office space to the right and living area to the left. They have a small snack bar that is booby trapped. If you pick something up they assume you ate/drank it. Don't like them. Especially bad if you have kids. No refrigerator in room but you could arrange to get one. No room cleaning while we were there. Didn't really want it. Did not eat at the hotel restaurant so can't review it. Only complaints were that there was no trash basket in the room and there was only 1 bar of soap to use for sink and shower. Could have called down and asked but made due without. This hotel is in a very good location for us. Far enough from Michigan Avenue to be somewhat quiet and close enough to both ends of town as we love to walk. This is still a go to place in my book.

I did a staycation weekend here at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel for my birthday. The young lady at the front desk was nice to check me early into my room and also gifted me with a nice view and double balcony for my birthday. My room had the most amazing view of the City. Appealing upscale hotel is walking distance from the Millennium Park, Willis Tower and Maggie Davis Park and other Chicago Attractions. I had access to the club lounge on the lower floor, and free breakfast. After, I checked in my room, I went downstairs to enjoy my schedule tea time party. This I bought separately on Groupon. The tea experience was ok could of been better. I had to wait awhile before someone decide to notice me. It was a cute setting but the tea and finger foods and dessert was terrible. The wine was warm and dry. I had the same experience with breakfast. I went downstairs a few minutes before breakfast time. I was seated and was waiting way past time and I was the only one sitting down. Poor timing and poor customer service in the food area. My room had the most amazing view, the outside/inside pool was spacious and enjoyable. I did enjoy my staycation here at Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel. I just hope they they train the restaurant staff better and improve on the food.

As soon as I walked into the Radiation Blu, I was greeted by the concierge. A little flustered from my flight and the desire to check-in before a series of meetings, she took me to front desk. I was able to check in early and I also received an upgrade.* I went to my room and was happily surprised by the view and the spaciousness. I immediately set my luggage to the side and left the room to catch the trail end of a ceremony and attend my meetings. During my stay, I was impressed with the amendable manner of the staff. From answering questions about the location of the business center to room service, I was always greeted with warmth. I was also impressed with delicious smells coming from the restaurant, FireLake, every evening I arrived back to the hotel. Based on the number of people I always saw when I walked by, it was clear it was a popular spot for networking and schmoozing. I finally ventured in for breakfast and enjoyed a veggie omelette and potatoes. Both were delicious. When I asked about an espresso, my server offered to go to the Starbucks located inside the hotel to get one for me. Happily surprised, I ordered two shots in preparation for my upcoming flight. Checking out was a breeze. Fiedl, one the porters, asked about my stay as Ulysses, the front desk manager, checked me out. Chatting about the wonderful experience made the quick checkout even quicker. I was thoroughly impressed with Radisson Blu and would happily stay there again. * I think the free upgrade was due to my warm greeting and smile once I entered. I also think she saw I was a bit flustered by my late arrival for an early morning ceremony that started before my series of meetings.

It was hell to find their parking and check in was long, slow and tedious to the point they gave us free drinks to have at the bar while we waited. But, the room was pretty, the lobby and common areas were beautiful and Instagram worthy. The room service from the in house restaurant was delicious and our room was 420 friendly, so they got major cool points for that.

I came here for NRA show and know what customer Service means and they were excellent

It was at a nice area. Visited during NRA show, From the check in hostess to the bartenders were really nice and took Care of us. I would highly recommend this place.

This hotel was located within the loop near the river, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are basic and small. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room with two queen beds and an amazing view out the window of the city. The window was large and clean. The beds were comfy with ample pillows. Four pillows were provided. The hotel set up is a bit awkward. Room is best for one person as lacks storage for large luggage. Plus there is not a defined bathroom. The shower is within the bedroom. Fortunately the shower was frosted but you walk right into the bedroom so you must be comfortable with those you stay with. Plus the room does really have a deck and chair to work. The desk is a fold down from the wall. The chair for the deck is located on the wall and not really suitable for long term working on sitting as does not have a back to it. The best thing above this hotel are the staff. The front desk staff are super friendly and accommodating and aim to please. The bartender was super friendly and attentive as well. Lastly parking is not available right at the hotel. You have to walk two blocks. Plus parking cost 59 dollars and that's the discounted rate. Also not really a suitable place to drop luggage off. If you pull up to the front door, you are blocking traffic. Base on price of 400 dollars the night we stayed, I would say it's not worth the stay. Maybe it's worth 200 or less for Chicago.

The last Hampton inn I got stuck in the elavator and had an off experience with getting help, so I chose to use the stairs. Upon using the stairs we were met with SEVERAL linen boxes blocking our only exit. They were all in different directions and could not be easily rolled out, especially when we were blocked behind them. Instead we had to parkour over it to escape. There was a valet driver sitting at the front and ignored us after I asked for help and continued to say she's just valet she can't do anything. These bins were there for well over an acceptable time, blocking the only stairs and fire safety exit but also for people that didn't enjoy their sketchy elevators. And again, pallets were there days later also blocking the ONLY emergency exit and stairwell exit. Completely unacceptable in a normal city let alone one with history of building fires. Exits should not be blocked and it's clear the building uses this space for "storage" often. Before the fire situation even happened, their breakfast situation was insane. Our first morning was on a Monday. Their service is until 10 am and around 9am we headed down for some fuel. By that time, the dining room was packed, the tiny buffet room was empty of food but packed with people who were waiting for tables, chairs and all of the food to be restocked. One woman was trying to run the whole operation while two men just stood behind the concierge desk and watched the shit show of breakfast service happen in front of them. Someone should have helped her get breakfast together. Even if it wasn't their job, in hospitality, their job as hotel manger or anyone who works in the hotel is to make sure the guest have a pleasant stay, not to look pretty sitting in front of the Hampton inn welcome to Chicago sign. Overall unorganized and not something nice to look at when you first walk into a hotel lobby, chaos. You would think the grievances would stop there. However we were then denied the benefits that we get as gold Hilton members. Previously at hiltons and Hilton branches we have been offered two bottles of water per room per day. Most of the time they would be offered upon check in (which they did not) and given daily throughout our stay. This time the concierge allowed my mom just to go grab them out of the fridge. The next day we did the same and the concierge Robyn gave me immediate backlash even after I said we were previously allowed to take them. She repeatedly said I was wrong and gave no hospitality to hear my side of the story. I didn't want to cause a scene and returned my water. She then slammed them onto our table as I was eating breakfast with my family. Definitely could have been better ways for her to deal with the problem and I did not appreciate the hostility coming from the concierge at 9 am. We were already all crammed at a small table because there are no seating arrangements easily accessible for families or even enough seats in the dining room. One star because housekeeping did great and my room was clean and refreshed when necessary (and because zero is not an option) Otherwise I would hope I never have to stay here again.

The staff were somewhat friendly until different things started to come up... 1st issue: Friday night the elevators completely stopped working. Big problem due to having a small infant and needing to get the stroller down. We were staying on the 10th floor. But an even bigger problem was that we started to notice floods of people come on our floor and notify us that there was not an exit even via the stairs!!!! My husband got on the phone with the front desk and the reply was "you are just going to have to wait for the elevator." This was completely unacceptable and UNSAFE- what if there was a fire? What if something dangerous was happening and we couldn't get out of the building? This itself would have landed this hotel at a 1-2 rating. The elevator issue didn't fill resolve itself for our whole stay- only 2/3 were in service and they took 5-10 minutes to show up each time. Seriously inconvenient. 2nd issue: they put one of our rooms (we had 3 groups) literally next to the pool. Kids were screaming their heads off beginning at 6:30am and it would carry on until 10pm. When SIL called down to the front desk she was told "sorry that's just how it is and it should quiet down soon." Again, completely unacceptable. We had young children and infants who needed to nap and go to bed early. 3rd issue: we asked for a late check out since our flight was later and we needed to get our baby to take a nap- after all of these issues they said they would extend it to 1:00, which was nice. We did then ask if it could be extended another hour and we were told it would cost $25. Fine... what was not fine was when there was banging on our door and someone walked in at 1:25pm to clean the room. It woke up our baby and completely defeated the purpose of us extending our late check out and paying the extra $25. 4th issue: apparently they don't clean the rooms unless you are staying for 3 or more nights? We didn't know about this and assumed we would get new towels since there is a sign in the bathroom saying "hang towels to reuse" or "if you would like new ones, place them on the floor". We needed new towels so we followed what it said and then were told our rooms wouldn't be cleaned or even checked to see if we needed new towels. Good things I will say: - very convenient area - provided a pack n play - Starbucks in the hotel - hotel room was clean Would have love for this stay to have been better since the Marriott is well known and usually a great place to stay.... but the lack of customer service makes it hard to want to book another room at a Marriott hotel.

Shamel, Jackie, and Gwen at the front desk delivered service that was consistent across every shift and every interaction. Requests were anticipated as often as they were fulfilled, and each struck the rare balance of being attentive without ever hovering. Great hotels are defined by their people, and these three make a persuasive case. They're the reason I'd return without hesitation and recommend the EMC2 to anyone visiting Chicago.

From the fascinating art pieces to the magnifying-glass room numbers, and the automated delivery robots Leo and Cleo that bring you snacks and toiletries right to your door, it's a truly special place. They also have an onsite dining option, The Albert, which offers creative seasonal dishes and expertly crafted cocktails. Chris, the bar manager, makes a fantastic Old Fashioned and really makes sure you are enjoying your time. One thing I noticed is that the bar doesn't have TVs for watching sports. It feels like they might be missing out on a big customer base because of this.

If you're able to splurge for club access at $200/person, you'll get to experience stunning city views, breakfast, afternoon tea, snacks, unlimited cocktails, and evening bites. We were also sent a bottle of wine and snacks to our room. I loved that they have a free spa area where you can use the sauna, heated stone loungers, and cold showers. The pool was stunning and we enjoyed swimming, just wish the hot tub was hotter as it was lukewarm. The room was great as well with a Nespresso machine and relaxing tub. Every time we stepped out of the room we would come back to a nice surprise, the room would be cleaned or they would leave the water and ice. Very attentive customer service here. Overall it was nice to live in luxury for the night, highly recommend if you're looking to splurge and relax! Hope I'll be able to stay again someday.

While not…read moreluxury, the hotel was very nice and comfortable, and the location was central to our wedding happenings. Everything was great until I checked out and discovered that I had been charged $88 per night for parking. That was quite unexpected. I had been in Chicago just a few months earlier and had paid $55 at the L7 Hotel. So I was shocked that the JW could charge so much. How is their valet parking better than the valet parking at the L7? I realize now that had I been traveling alone, and not with my family, it would have been cheaper to fly to Chicago, than drive the 4.5 hours from Ohio. Apparently the hospitality industry hasn't caught on to the current affordability crisis, or at least Marriott hasn't.

So the JW seemed affordable within the mix...at $700+ a night... I've stayed at a few JWs across Asia and the US. For whatever reason this one didn't seem to meet JW's normally high standard. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it started with the lobby and bar. It was always overcrowded and noisy, and just didn't feel very intimate or elegant. That followed with the fact there's only one restaurant in the hotel and both times we visited it was nearly empty. It's tucked on the second floor back in the corner, and just feels like a standard obligatory hotel restaurant. The food was good but the ambience was just odd. The room was well-appointed, including a comfortable bed and soft sheets. And the bathroom had everything we needed. But the service day-to-day required follow up. They forgot to restock coffee, water and cups a few times, and when I called the front desk they delivered in a trash bag. There is a daily service charge that I believe is $50 a night and provides Wi-Fi, access to gym, and a free class. We went to use the gym to access the sauna and steam room, but learned that's part of the spa not gym so had to pay a separate per person charge. The spa was refreshing but fairly standard. Not like the Seoul Marriott with multiple heated baths and a cold plunge. Call me spoiled. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is very nice but for $700 a night and knowing what I know about most JW's this just seems slightly below their standard. I wouldn't pay that much again, but would come back for a more affordable rate.

Both have incredible views but I would definitely recommend having at least one meal on the Miru patio if you are there during nice weather. -I was most surprised by their massive gym and has stunning views. It's also open 24 hours. They offered Pilates classes as well for an extra fee. -the hotel is brand new and all the finishes are so high end. The rooms are clean and quiet. The hallways are huge and felt like a maze to navigate but it also added to feeling of privacy. -there were so many high end details that made it extra special (the cozy Frette bath robes, welcome drinks, treat box in the room upon arrival, and the accent lighting in the room). -the location. It's just across the river from the heart of Michigan ave on the north end of a residential development. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the chaos of the city but the park, lake front and river are footsteps away. Negatives: -view was underwhelming ( fourth floor river view . Might choose the park view next time. I'd also recommend not facing the river as there was lots of honking/noise. -the room layout was awkward. They have this huge desk between the bed and tv. The full length mirror is a down a long hallway from bathroom/ where you would be getting dressed. -the room service comes on these huge heavy trays. The staff seemed like they were straining under the weight of it/ it was awkward. -I'd probably skip the spa/massage -$90/ day parking. Was able to do a spothero for about $40 next door.
