If you ever find yourself in the laurel area this place is worth checking out! I randomly came across this coffee shop 3 years ago and have been coming here since. If you're looking for a new coffee place to try out and get some work done this is the place for you! I've tried both the hot and ice cafe Miel and it's my go to drink! Overall I love the atmosphere of this coffee shops. It has a certain rustic and homey feel to it. The owners and staff are really kind and Jeremy (one of the owners) is really knowledgeable about all things coffee related. About once a month they host coffee making classes. I have yet to make it out to one because they sell out so fast but I definitely want to try one of their home barista classes as I think it would be really cool to learn about the coffee making process. read more

So bummed!! The coffee is good, but I can't in good conscious visit an establishment that benefits a group that doesn't believe in my rights. Also, the shop is also closed on Sundays & Mondays, which is usually when I'd grab a coffee. This is a cute little cafe. It was perfect with headphones to get some work done. The staff was so nice!! It was my first time and they answered any and all questions, made recommendations. I had a chai latte, a brownie, and a cookie. YUM! They also have gluten free dessert options that looked very good. I do recommend headphones. When I first got there it was kind of empty and quiet but then it got a little busier and people were a little chatty. Ragamuffin Coffee has been on my "stop for coffee" list for ages and I finally was able to do just that. I stopped in on my way to class just to have some wind down time before my class. They did not disappoint. In all of my excitement, I forgot to bring my wallet with me, which wound up being no deal as they accept apple pay and google pay. They even prepared my order for me as I struggled set up google pay for 10 minutes. They have a sizeable assortment of pastries to choose from, including non sweet options like ham and cheese croissants, bagels with aioli (something else, but I forgot), and other bagel assemblies. I ordered the chocolate and ham and cheese croissants and a cortado. The cortado was perfectly made. It's not a hard espresso drink to make by any means, but it is often done incorrectly. The croissants were great and filling. All of the necessary utensils were neatly displayed on the shelf table as well as sweeteners and napkins. The cafe music playlist was a great diverse mix of songs that were not distracting or overpowering the rest of the ambiance. The whole experience was great and definitely would recommend. Only con--the hours. I wish it stayed open later but it does follow true to form like other local cafes so this isn't a hardknock. Anyways, give it a go. read more

Had a lovely breakfast here with my wife recently. The biggest highlight of our experience was the chai tea latte. For our taste, it was perfect. Perfectly sweet, perfectly warm, and with a nice amount of spicy kick. All that to say, they do use the Rishi box concentrate chai mix. So, if you'd like a cheaper, yet just as tasty, chai latte you can easily grab a box of this concentrate at a local store and invest in an expensive milk frother. But if you are looking for that coffee shop experience and a good chai latte to sip on, this is the only place I would recommend in the area. They also have a small selection of decent gluten-free pastries. This is something I sincerely appreciate as someone who can rarely enjoy a bite to eat at a coffee shop! Pictured below is the gluten-free cinnamon roll, which they unpackaged and warmed up for me. To be honest, it tasted more like a coffee cake with cream cheese frosting on top. I always forget that what I've already typed on my phone doesn't save to the website :( So anyway, I met DD for a sip and a bite a couple of days ago. I parked on the free street parking a few blocks away, largely because I had NO idea that street numbers in Laurel span kind of long distances. I mean, I parked in front of 341 Main St. and figured 385 would be in the next ... block ... nope. But hey, I need to get my steps, yeah? I actually just fell in love with this coffee shop! The décor is a mix of comfy-cozy and modern-utility. There are four soft armchairs with small tables and handy pop-up electrical outlets on one side. The rest is bistro and regular tables with armless, backless stools. Service was super friendly and quick. The whole place, including the restroom, was spotless. It wasn't packed on a Tuesday at 1030, but busy enough to know this is a place that people really like. And after one sip of my perfectly made mocha, I know why! I enjoyed the pretty heart on top, too. ;) DD loved her ginger-chai tea, as well. It's a bit far from home for convenience' sake, but to be honest, I don't need to hit up Sbux or the local chain (who never seem to get my mocha right) frequently. So Ragamuffins is officially my personal go-to coffee spot from now on!! read more

Gluten free review: We went in for a couple of teas while driving from DC to a short stay in Baltimore, and picked up a nitro coffee for the next morning (in case we needed coffee to get to our coffee, which can be a problem). Not only did we have an unexpected summer beverage- iced chai tea with sparkling water- but also bagged an unexpected treat: a gluten free cinnamon roll from Violeta Sweets. The teas were just what we needed, and I'll try to do the sparkling chai thing at home. It's neat. You know what I can't do at home? Make- or even buy- a half decent gluten free cinnamon roll. Sure, it might look like a cinnamon roll- maybe- but it'll be a doorstop. Maybe some wallpaper paste topped with sugar. But not this one from Violeta Sweets. It was so good that my sweetie, who is not gluten free, referred to trying to get a bite of the cinnamon roll as "a Joey Chestnutt situation." (Apparently, Joey Chestnutt is the champion of Nathan's Hot Dogs Eating Contests.) It was all elbows, folks, and defensive eating tactics from this girl. Ragamuffins is everything you want a coffee shop to be and more. The staff is amazing, the atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, and the coffee is just absolutely amazing. I thought I liked coffee before, but I have a whole new appreciation and love for it now. I may not go every week, but I have definitely been here many times. Every time I go I always get a beautiful piece of art on top of and amazing cup of coffee. The mocha, cappuccino, latte, spanish latte, and café miel are all just absolutely amazing! I have a sweet tooth so adding honey to my coffee makes my tummy happy and compliments the coffee well. They also have several different options of milk, my husband always gets the oat milk... he forgets to order with oat milk, but the Barista remembers he gets oat milk EVERY time! If coffee is not your favorite they have I think 6-8 teas to try from as well. I have tried two of them so far, they are so unique, full of flavor, and delicious! My favorite so far is the peppermint tea. Above all this, Ragamuffins has an amazing vision statement, "Ragamuffins loves and serves the community by cultivating a place to connect around handcrafted coffee." I have never walked into a business that actively lives out their whole purpose of existing as a business. The coffee house is owned by a local church, that actually meets at Ragamuffins every morning. I attended this church once... and have not stopped going. The church is so dedicated to reaching their community that they have given up a big church building to be right in the middle of Laurel main street just to connect with people. The Ragamuffins culture is very loving, supportive, and all about being there for you. There is just something so special, unique and raw about Ragamuffins that it is easy to call this coffee house a place of true friendship. read more

What's not to like?! A clean, charming coffee shop that spends time making a good (and attractive!) cup of coffee (even in a take-out cup) is hard to come by! Their drink offerings range the reliable (espresso, macchiato) and the slightly off the beaten path (Spanish coffee, cafe miel). Their pastries are excellently layered and fresh when I went on a weekday morning. I'm tickled as well that they have monthly special events like latte at home tutorials and $2 latte days. I love the coffee at this place. I'm not sure it's on the menu, but I always ask for a flat white, they know exactly what it is and how to make it. I started ordering them decades ago when I lived in Australia and it's rare, for me, that somewhere gets the coffee-milk balance just right. I've had lots of good flat whites, but Ragamuffins makes GREAT ones. Very nice staff too. Yesterday, my daughter had some kind of pastry with syrup on it that she pronounced was the best in her whole life (she's a bit hyperbolic) and some jade tea that she loved. I liked my coffee so much that I went back and got a second one (after we'd had some Caribbean food from Caribeexpress up the road).
