We have followed Billy Jack from his humble beginnings in his garage in Auburn. He finally moved to a small area down by the railroad tracks and now he has a beautiful brewery on main Street in Auburn. Rail Hoppin has food and a good selection of different kinds of beers. The service that he does there is great and will look after you from head to toe. Hopefully he will be building an outside deck for the summers, but will see how that goes. The Triple Dick - their version of chips & salsa (very chunky like I like), queso (my favorite - had a tiny bit of smoke which was surprising and notably good), and guacamole. I wish the chips were warmed as that would be the bomb! We were served by the proprietor who was kind, patient and funny. He also shared a dragon fruit based shake recipe that his daughter came up which was amazingly good and made with two different kinds of seltzers - who knew? It felt casual, not weird or overly try hard, and it had that easy local place energy that makes you want to stay for a while without checking your watch. My dad, uncle, and I all loved this place! The beers we had were phenomenal. We had the amber, the Pilsner, the stout, the raspberry IPA, and the habanero raspberry. Well designed and well thought out layout that absolutely will charm your way in and invite you to stay for the many selections of beer and games. This place is a labor of love and it shows in every aspect and every corner of this place. We came on a weekend afternoon and so glad we did. We were able to play some cribbage, drink through a variety of beer options. I'm personally excited about the cribbage tournaments that they host. There are a few options for some bites too. Really nice space with lots of (pay to play) games and also (free) board games and cards were out. The owner was serving the night we came and he was really nice. Even fired up the fryer at the end of night since I was craving fries. Unfortunately the crinkle fries were a tad undercooked--but still good enough. The beer was really good. We had a flight for only $10 and quite enjoyed all of them (a dark IPA, a raspberry IPA, a blueberry sour and a barrel aged stout). Definitely worth coming to again. Billy Jack Does an amazing job brewing and in providing a great family atmosphere where we can enjoy friends, bring our dogs and, Well, where "everybody knows your name." His establishment is spacious and has a variety of activities including games and even indoor cornhole.. Hos bar food and pizzas are delicious. He has at least ten different brews and some ciders. I feel pretty safe compared to larger cities. It's right by the train tracks, hence the name. It's a small place with a large selection. Its kind of a mix between seltzer, IPAs, and jalapeño flavored. My particular drink was the Stack Haze. Not bad, and I usually don't drink IPAs. I love this brewery already! Came in this past weekend as I was going home and I'm really glad I did. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, and they made me feel very welcome and I felt like I was home. They also have plenty of TVs to watch sports and they also have board games to enjoy if you're on a date or with a group of friends. For my 1st beer I started with the Jalapeño Amber and it was delicious. That bad boy had a nice kick to it, but it was very drinkable. I highly recommend trying it on your visit. I got hungry after my beer and I asked if they had a food menu, but they only had small appetizers. However, you can bring in food from any of the nearby restaurants and enjoy it with your beer. That's exactly what I did. I ordered from the restaurant next door, picked it up, and brought it back. When I was ready to for my second round the bartender asked what I had previously and told her I had tried the jalapeño Amber. She then suggested to try the "STD" Lol, which is a mix of the jalapeño Amber and the Rusty Dick IPA. It was surprisingly good! Both beers mixed great together and it was very flavorful. Rail Hop'n pulled us in with the artwork they had for their beers on Yelp! It was kind of funny to get inside and not see anything of the sort. But no big deal! The decor was very comfortable, a little old-timey railroad style, but done really well. We even got to sit at a bar at a window facing the street. We were welcomed right away and given a list of everything. Unfortunately, everything my wife wanted to try was out! That was too bad because we don't get to Auburn ever and we really wanted to try them. I settled on my samples and was very pleased. If you want to go somewhere for really good craft beer, Rail Hop'n should be on your list. The amber was my favorite, but you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Rail Hop is a necessary stop in your downtown Auburn adventure. Bring your dog, have a Rusty Dick and stay awhile. Watch some sports or play one of their many board games. The owner is so incredibly funny and genuinely welcoming. He just sits right down with you and makes sure you enjoy your beer. He even caters to your furry 4-legged friend with treats galore. Lots of unique beers to sample and they all taste great. The Rusty Dick is delicious and when you mix it with his jalapeño beer, you get an STD! Nice place for coffee and beer. They have some light apps as well so you can snack and drink. One television, shuffleboard and a board game selection. The have 11 beers on tap and I had the Live Iron Amber looked more dirty blonde then Amber but had a solid flavor. Dead Iron Red was my second and final, really like this beer, has a soft fruity after taste. You can bring kids and dogs! I will return with my dog next time. Rail Hop'n Brewing is the newest incarnation of what used to be Wet Head Brewing. Wet Head was under a partnership ownership and that partnership was dissolved and a parting of ways occurred. It was decided that starting over would be best and so the chapter of Rail Hop'n Brewing was born. This brewery is located in the same space as where Wet Head used to be. The same guy that served me beer when it was Wet Head was here on my last trip when it was under the new name so I know which of the partners stayed and carried on! At Rail Hop'n I tried one of their beers. I got their delicious Fire Box Jalapeno Amber which was fantastic! The heat in the beer was just perfect and was an extremely enjoyable and drinkable beer! Sometimes pepper beers are very hot and need to be sipped a lot but this one is just right!
