I had Dim Sum today at Rainbow Kitchen, I really love this spot for its fresh Dim Sum. Unlike other Dim Sum places, you order off a menu rather than picking from carts that pass by, This is probably less traditional but it makes for great hot fresh Dim Sum made to order every time. Today I started out with roast duck which came out with glistening skin bathed in that duck jus sauce along with a cup of duck sauce. I enjoyed the experience and the meat was tender and tasty with that delicious salty jus sauce. Next, we tried a bunch of dishes such as the shrimp ball on sugar cane stick, which were amazing, the best I ever had for that, and believe me, I have had it all over. Usually, it's just shrimp paste fried with a coating wrapped around a sugar cane stick and this followed that form, but today it was ultra tender because they actually put whole minus the head shrimp inside with the paste, and being cooked fresh it was ultra tender, moist and tasty. Eating it brought me back to lobster stuffed with shrimp and crabmeat, almost. Also had their fried soy sauce noodles which again were delicious because they were made fresh for the table not made a half hour before with a bunch of other orders. The shrimp rolls with soy sauce were cut into single shrimp pieces, each cut piece contained one large shrimp and also looked better than what you would find in most other spots. Not one dish disappointed and we had several more. I have tried most if not all the name Dim Sum places in Las Vegas, near and far from the strip, and it's easy for me to say this is the best. I have been eating Dim Sum regularly for about 30 years in NY/NJ Metro Area, Boston, Florida and even the UK Chinatown and this place is clearly one of the best. read more

WOW! If this is what Authentic dim sum and Chinese food taste like, I've been missing out for YEARS!!! There's no push cart here, so you have to mark off the items you want on a menu list. I have to admit that since there wasn't pictures of the dim sum, I had to google some of it. The waiters are very nice and helpful when they saw that I was searching up some items. The dim sum are made to order so it is hot and tasty. Everything tasted like it was made with quality ingredients and I didn't leave the place with a headache or feeling sick like I do at other Chinese restaurants that use MSG. Monday, 8/15/22. My daughter and I arrived at 7pm and were cordially greeted at the door and seated right away. The dining area was nearly full and there were roughly five in the waitstaff, and I mention this because once our order was placed and food was brought to the table, service disappeared. Live seafood tanks held fish, lobsters and crabs, and a dry-erase board displayed a special menu in Chinese and English. We ordered Mongolian Beef, BBQ Pork Chow Fun, and Choy Sum with Garlic. The food arrived roughly ten minutes after ordering. All three dishes were good, and the steamed rice was cooked perfectly. The large pieces of onion in the Mongolian beef added a crunchy sweetness to the savory dish and the beef was tender. The chow fun was tasty and had a good char taste from the wok. The choy sum could've been cut into smaller pieces, and that's my only complaint about the food. (To be fair, most choy sum is presented this way, but it's hard to eat.) Obtaining a knife turned into a mission. While trying to get someone's attention--anyone--the table next to us was doing the same, and finally someone from that table carried their empty teapot to the register to ask for a refill. My daughter finally did the same to ask for a knife which turned into a fiasco. If you can tolerate lousy service (based on one visit), the food is good despite what I read in some reviews, and I do want to try their dim sum (dim sum service ended at 6pm). DO NOT COME HERE! This place is a rip off! They put a teapot on the table without even being asked if we want it or not. Then they serve the tea automatically even when we said we don't want it and they automatically charge you for it! Foods are just ok, service is terrible! The servers are hungry for big bill which in turn big tip for them. They told us we don't have any vegetable order for our dinner so we ordered vegetable dish, only later we found out one of the dish we order is green beans. Just awful experience! read more

We came here on a Friday night VERY excited to try dim sum at Rainbow Kitchen. Even though their tv's cycle through images of their different "options", we were told they don't do dim sum. So don't come here if you are looking for dim sum. We decided to order a few entrees (we were a party of 4) and some drinks. After our food was served, we were not checked on again. We had even told the waitress at the beginning that we would want to order more. Really frustrating experience for my 1st time here with a part of 30. We filled up 3 tables and only food for 2 tables was brought out. Another party came after us and all of their food came before one of our tables. Our last table didn't get anything. We even ordered another dish afterwards and it came out before our last table even get a single dish. That's not right. Our last table had all the adults and seniors and they had to wait for their food as other parties that came after us got theirs. It was really frustrating as we came for a celebration that was greatly ruined by this horrible service. We asked multiple servers about the food for our last table multiple times and they did nothing to rectify the situation and continued to serve the other parties that came after us!!! We use to come here regularly but this time the food was not as good as it used to be. Sweet & sour pork was tough and had bones in it. The panfried noodle was ok but not as good as it used to be. In fairness, the roast duck was good. We were surprised that the tea is charged per person not by the teapot as compared to other Chinese restaurant. Up to now, they still charge a disinfecting fee, which is suppose to be free because pandemic is over. This was the 2nd time coming here, and we were glad we did. First of all, we went on Christmas day and it was packed. Good thing we had made reservations for 2 tables. Every dish we ordered was delicious-Peking duck, honey walnut shrimp, garlic string beans, beef chow fun, deep fried tofu, chicken chow mein, Schezwan eggplant and the yang fried rice. The service was good despite their being crowded. Our dishes came out one at a time without any delays. The tea was constantly being filled. I don't think we'll ever come back after being treated the way we were treated last night. This was our second time at this restaurant & we've never felt unwelcome at a Chinese restaurant til we came here last night. We came 2 hrs before closing time with my family & greeted with an unhappy server who did nothing but gave us attitude the whole time (almost got up & left). I'm glad a different server took over, but regardless, the first interaction ruined it. They provided great customer service to others but we received nothing but a cold shoulder. The dimsum here was amazing! They do take reservations, but we came in around 11 AM on a Sunday with a party of 9 and we only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table to open up for us. The kitchen is a little bit scrambled when they bring out items, not really keeping track of what comes out, but they were relatively fast after we first ordered. Checks off all the boxes: Family style meals, big portions, extensive menu, good tea, great service, lazy Susan's and a whole container of Chili oil for the table. For our party of 2 we ordered the live lobster (dry style), snow pea leaves in garlic sauce, pan fried sea bass, scallops in XO sauce, and Hong Kong style pan fried noodles. Everything was delicious. The lobster had lots of fried garlic and chili which is perfect over steam rice. The snow pea leaves were green and garlicky for those #healthnuts. The pan fried sea bass came with a ginger soy which was the first dish gone. The scallops had a nice spicy sauce and went well with the sweetness of the scallops and the pan fried noodles filled the protein quota with chicken, bbq pork, fish filet pieces, shrimp and calamari. We were super hungry so we walked in here when there was zero customers. Ordered pan fried HK noodles, half of a steamed chicken with ginger and salt and pepper fish (sorry forgot to take pics). We were regulars here from the start but now they are under new management. The old chef is still there and always says hello to us. At the end of our meal, they gave us complimentary mochi (in preparation for their all day dimsum next month - NO carts all freshly ordered) and even ASKED first if we have peanut allergies. That's impressive for a chinese restaurant to ask and inform guests. The mochi was small - incredibly soft with ground peanut paste and sesame rolled in coconut. It was scrumptious I just kept the last star because of the price and ambiance and the new owner can be a snob too. I must admit because of the ambiance we eat more at Taste even if their servers are snobs and rarely smile. Last month we celebrated my MIL's birthday here for lunch and we were a big table. Since we are regulars here we already know what to order. BTW, they love recommending dishes here and it's usually an up-sell all the time. I have been in Las Vegas for over a decade now, and I would typically save my "Chinese food" outings for my trips home or when I travel abroad to Hong Kong. Today, we tried Rainbow Kitchen and we will be back. The wait staff was GREAT! And let's be honest, while there's a certain charm to cranky Chinese wait staff of yesteryear, these folks were helpful and kind. The food was tasty, presentation was good, and most importantly, not greasy or overcooked. For those folks with special eating needs- no msg, no pork, no beef...you can get what you want here. Share that information with the server and he/she will make recommendations and then alert the cooks about the no MSG request. A small reminder of my childhood with some good dim sum. One of the very few outstanding Cantonese Hong Kong style restaurants left in Vegas. These restaurants are shrinking in numbers for lots of reasons (not for discussion here). The food we had was prepared authentically and done well. The seafood was fresh tasting but the beef fillet cubes were not tender as fillet should have been. All the other dishes were excellent. As to the service, the waiter who took care of us was efficient and knowledgeable and attentive, sadly an uncommon finding in most Asian restaurants. The Asian waiter who attended to the bill at the end was typical and he even checked the bill after I signed it. Checking for tip amount as claimed by previous reviewers ?? Rainbow Kitchen is one of my family's favorite Chinese restaurants in town for both dim sum and family-styled dinner. The location is convenient and you get to avoid the Chinatown/Spring Mountain traffic :) Our go-to orders include the roasted duck, seafood and tofu claypot, Mongolian beef, fried salted tofu, and the 豆苗 (pea pod leaves with garlic). We've spent major holidays here including Thanksgiving and New Years Eve dinner and have ordered the lobster (with noodles for Thanksgiving and without for New Years Eve) and it was amazing both times. The dim sum is also really satisfying! Unlike other dim sum restaurants in Las Vegas, you order on a sheet of paper versus having servers push around the cart. It can be confusing if you don't read Chinese, but there are also photos for reference on the menu. There are very few authentic and good Chinese restaurants in Vegas, so I'm glad we have this option in town! read more

Haven't found a go to spot yet for Chinese here in Las Vegas which is off the LV strip. This place is pretty good. Customer service is good. When I was first seated the table tops of some Of the booths had big cracks to point where the table tops were coming apart. I just simply asked them to move us. Food was really good. We had Salted Fish and Chicken Fried rice. I am a fan of the salted fish, but it maybe a little overbearing for some. We also had the honey walnut shrimp which was really good and also the Salted Pepper Pork Chops! Delicious! I would definitely go back again. Prices where about in line, but I would suggest they add lunch specials. I believe it would drive more traffic to the restaurant. read more

My friends and I came here to have dinner to celebrate Chinese New Year. The service was terrible and I would NOT suggest this restaurant to anyone. We ordered the salt and pepper crab which I normally love but the whole pieces of crab with the shell was fried in batter. It was impossible to eat. We ordered dim sum and the menu says it's from 11am-1030pm. After the horrible service and dinner I was still hungry and tried to order the custard bun and sesame ball for dessert and was told that they dim sum menu ended at 830 and the server pointed at the menu which said 1030. Also the restaurant charges a sanitizing fee which was on our bill. I'm not sure what they sanitize since the restaurant table was sticky and did not look clean. I'm not Chinese so I really shouldn't rate this restaurant. I think the food is probably more authentic as we saw many Asian patrons enjoying their meals. I thought the service was prompt and friendly. I didn't care for the ambiance as it just felt like another strip mall restaurant. We had the lobster, but I personally don't care for the way it was prepared with some sort of sauce. My mayo tofu had to be taken back as it tasted stale. Reviews look good so after we picked up several school polos for my 2yo at Campus Club, we gave RK a try since I wanted dim sum. We arrived and stood there for a few minutes since no one greeted us and since there isn't a sign to seat yourself, we were not sure. So we just went to the back and asked whether we can just seat ourselves. After we sat down they handed us the menu attached to the little clipboard. The waiter said just to chose our food from that menu. Therefore, do not expect to have the traditional carts rolling around. Especially if you do no speak/read chinese, it may be challenging to read the menu since the english word on the menu is somewhat confusing (e.g., salted crispy dumping...seriously? what is inside this dumpling?) Anywho, we ordered a variety of item and we had better elsewhere (i.e. New Asian BBQ on Spring Mountain). The chicken feet looked and tasted like it has been sitting there...the feet fell apart and tasteless to say the least. We will not be returning to RK. read more

My girlfriend and I ate there last night, so here's my review. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, a special type of rice, won ton soup and a few other things and it all tasted great. The reason for the 1 star is because towards the end of our meal, my girlfriend says "is that an ant on the table"? Sure as it was, I counted about 6 total ants crawling on the table and the wall connected to our table. Completely disgusted, this is all it takes to keep us from ever coming back again.
