We have seen this place during our many times traveling. One time we stopped there I had to go to the bathroom and when I went in it was so busy and the food looked amazing on the tables I passed. I made a point to remember it for the future. So on this day we were stuck in traffic and had no dogs so we stopped to try it out. We are so happy we did!!( they have a patio so we could bring the dogs) On entering we notice a special board with a lot of enticing meals . We both ordered from the board. I got the Brisket dinner plate and my husband got 1/2 fried chicken and waffles. The staff was so friendly and quick to serve with a smile. Our server was Miriam Soto . The meals came in great time, hot and perfectly prepared. There was so much brisket on my plate I had to take more than 1/2 home to enjoy later. The bbq sauce was a perfect blend of sweet and smoky and tasted very good!! My husband's fried chicken was AMAZING !! The waffle that came with it was like no other waffle I've ever eaten. It was fluffy, airy and melt in your mouth. I got what they call French fries as one of my sides, it's curved cut potato's , not too thin cut and not too thick cut deliciously crispy , loved them:) The only complaint is my veggies were too al dente for my taste buds. I have been coming here now and then for probably 10 years now and I am finally writing a review! Rainbow Oaks is a family restaurant with a bit of a roadhouse feel, in a friendly country way. It is right along the service road by the I-15 south of Temecula. You can also get there the back way on Rice Canyon Road - a bit twisty. There are almost always some bikes parked outside, especially on the weekends when you might have to wait a bit for a table. The main dining room is on the small side, with more booth and bar seating in the bar area. The decor is pretty rustic, with wood paneling throughout and stump stools at the bar. The folks working there have always been friendly. Sometimes on a busy weekend you might end up waiting a bit for food, but it is worth the wait. They have a pretty big menu, I have stopped there many times for breakfast or lunch and once for dinner and have not been disappointed. If you are in the mood for some hearty and tasty food in a rural setting, get out of town and try Rainbow Oaks! read more

I just came in with 3 adults and an infant. Upon asking to sit in a corner booth because of space we were told "this is where you're allowed to sit" a tiny booth. The best part was the morning rush had not even started. The man was extremely rude. I couldn't comfortably fit everyone in the tiny booth so we grabbed our stroller. After realizing that there was no space for a stroller and the rude Busser seating us we decided to leave. I do not think I will ever return to this place. Just on a side street that parallels the I 15, in Rainbow, between Temecula and Escondido, this long time establishment drew my interest on a random morning trek. The food here, was really good. Prices were above average, for a breakfast in the area, a few bucks more than the norm. The service was ok, but not exceptional, nor timely. There was a bit of a wait even once seated. The atmosphere, a little puzzling. Room was naturally due to acoustics, noisy. Then.... A recording of the National Anthem came on loudspeaker, at 12:00 noon when we happened to be there. Caught off guard, of course, we stood respectfully. Apparently this happens every day. Hostess/owner? acted as if this was normal for a restaurant, and was actually pretty rude when asked for an explanation. She could have responded any number of ways other than she did. There was something that did not feel good about this place. Good food does not deserve good ratings when they are politically influenced and try to influence others with their politics. read more

We received a referral to this restaurant from a Fallbrook local while we were up there to buy some Marketplace items. We'd never been to Rainbow Oaks Restaurant and were excited to try it out. We were told it is the best breakfast in the area. On our way there and most of the reviews on YELP were good with a few whiners sprinkled in. It was July 5 and a holiday and when we arrived it was busy. We put our name in for "first available" and was told to expect about a 30 minute wait. While waiting, we checked out the antique store on site and found some "good stuff" to buy. We were called right about 30 minutes after we checked in and were seated in a booth inside. I don't like being mean, but the woman acting as hostess seemed to be having a bad day. She was a bit short with customers and kind of barked at people. If she wasn't feeling well or had a bad day, I can understand, but in a restaurant setting, you're the face of the place and first impressions are important. Our server was friendly and efficient. We were ready to order and ordered quickly but it was about 45 minutes before we received our food. The husband had a BLTA with fruit . It looked great and had big chunks of avocado. I was craving biscuits & gravy and order that with scrambled eggs & sausage. It was ok. The food was fine but the gravy was disappointing, a little gummy and flavorless. I'm not a salter, but I used a lot of salt AND pepper. The server kept our iced tea filled. Price at the end was around $35 so it did feel a little pricey for breakfast. Overall, it was ok. The decor is Americana/law enforcement on a wood paneled walls/roof building. It's nice. Bathroom was clean. I'd give it another try, but it's not on my gotta go back quick list! read more

We visited this restaurant for the first time last week. It felt great to walk into a cool place on a day that was over 100 degrees. Thank goodness for A/C! The service was extremely friendly, fast and accurate. It was surprising to see the commitment they take in quality food. After our meal, we played cornhole in the tiny park behind the restaurant. We strolled through the mini-mart and saw a good deal of local art. The antique store was cute, too. We'd definitely visit again. read more

Sad what the new owners are doing to this great place. Hottest day of the year and they refuse to turn on the AC. Listening to all the customers complain about the heat and seeing the staff sweating is sad. Rumors say the owners are mean and cruel. Customers are actually leaving :( and we are too.
