I love the Rainbow. Anytime I pass through Fort Collins I tried to stop there. This is a place where your grandma and your vegan friends will feel right at home. The food is great. My favorites are the breakfast burrito and the huevos rancheros. The dinning room is cozy and feels like home. The parking cab be a little tricky. I love this place. I must have been in a bad mood when I wrote my last review. That being said, the Rainbow has really raised the bar since I last wrote. They place is much cleaner and they have a new batch of very friendly and attentive staff. The food is still amazingly good. They have also increased their frequency of specials which is always fun. I go here every time I go home to Fort Collins and have my annual birthday brunch here with my family. I have yet to find a place in Denver that measures up to the brunch here. You have to love a restaurant with a multi generational family history. Well, you don't if it's grown tired. But if it's somehow managed to continuously reinvent itself over the decades and still feels fresh, alive and vibrant, then you have to love it! This is the first time my girlfriend and I have been here and we both absolutely loved it! They have vegan options, a beautiful location right by CSU, nice outdoor seating, and the best French toast I've had in my life (though the other food was great too)! What a charming place this is! I really enjoyed the look, colors, lighting and homey ambience. The service couldn't have been better unless they gave free back massages for desert. Our wait person was really personable and friendly. Our lentil soup was too salty, but otherwise had good flavor and seemed fresh. We accepted salads to replace the soup and everyone was gracious. I had a seitan, gouda and cheddar toasted sammich with arugula and grilled onions on wonderfully tender, tasty foccacia. It was a fantastic sandwich! I had a warm side of quinoa, cranberry and walnuts. I had a good cup of coffee and my partner enjoyed her toasted multi cheese sandwich, I would love to get breakfast there. read more

Lovely spot! We ate in the patio area, which is shaded by trees and awnings. The food was good -- breakfast burrito for my daughter (which she found a little bland), and sweet potato latke breakfast for me. I enjoyed the food, but the latkes were definitely on the over-cooked side and came smothered in apple sauce, which drowned out the crispiness. Next time I'll ask for it on the side! We have visited Rainbow Restaurant several times over the years while in Ft. Collins for a biennial work conference. I was reminded on our recent visit that I would be a regular if we lived in Ft. Collins! It was a hot day, so we dined inside, but the large patio is charming! Perfect for an al fresco brunch or lunch on a beautiful day. I love the cute, cozy atmosphere of the Rainbow, which is located inside a house. The location is conveniently close to the CSU campus, but parking can be a little bit limited. I had the Ann Arbor Chicken Sandwich, which was juicy, flavorful and fresh, while my husband enjoyed a large Asian salad. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive, which was much appreciated since we were dining with a toddler in tow! We splurged (calories) on dessert and didn't regret one bite! The Chocolate Pie was the best I've ever had and my husband raved about his Key Lime Pie as well. Our friend had the Peanut Butter Pie and said it was also fabulous. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and homemade, unlike the "processed" quality that you often get from chain restaurants. I have often done races around the oval at CSU. It never fails that when we hit around Laurel street, to come back into campus, I smell the eggs cooking from this restaurant. Today, with a guest in town, we decided to try this out place, not knowing if the menu would tickle our tastebuds. I will admit, seeing the menu for the first time, and noticing very veggie and vegan options did throw me a bit. I will admit I was worried. I pride myself as a meat and potato kid, and the lack of options with bacon made me wonder. However, that worry was short lived. The Rainbow provided YUMMY options for all of us. Everything tasted fresh and light, and was definitely a welcomed change from the typical pancake, eggs and bacon faire I am used to gobbling. Worth a check out if you have not been there. Don't be swayed by it being so close to campus. While it was really busy, we got a table right away, and were done with breakfast within an hour. And who knows, next time I might be brave enough to try the scrambled tofu! :) read more

On a Sunday morning around 11 am I called and asked for a table for 6 people and they told me they don't take reservations but they said if we showed up within 5 minutes they could get us right in. We show up five minutes after we called and then they proceeded to tell us they DO take reservations and it ended up being a 20 minute wait. Server was kind and understanding. My friend ordered the pumpkin bread French toast-- it did not taste right. Might as well have named it SALT French toast because when we asked the server why it tasted wrong she said they made the mistake of using SALT in the mix instead of SUGAR.... forgivable mistake sure, but honestly if you're making those mistakes then You definitely don't know how to cook a simple breakfast. read more

The Rainbow is another house-turned-restaurant turning out their own brand of delicious breakfast items. They have a focus on vegetarian dishes, which is great! The food is good enough that you won't miss eggs, dairy, or meat. My favorite breakfast is probably the Tempeh Saute, but my last time in I had the Migas and they were also wonderful - who doesn't like potatoes at breakfast. I have to give a special mention to the pumpkin bread french toast - it's far too sweet for me to finish a whole piece, but it sure is tasty. My only gripe is the service can be a bit hit or miss - my coffee mug spends a lot of time empty at the Rainbow. read more

The Rainbow Restaurant is a gem in Fort Collins! Delicious, healthy food and a great outdoor patio area that is very far away from the normal car fumes like Austins or Mugs - ugh! Met a friend here for lunch today because Tasty Harmony was closed for floor renovations. The interior of Rainbow was pretty nice--pastel walls, with kind of an enclosed patio feel to it. The menu was okay, not very creative. I felt bad because my friend loves this place, it's her favorite restaurant she told me, but I couldn't get excited over the menu. We both ordered the Ali Baba, which came with soup or salad, and a roll. We both got the salad. She ordered the miso dressing, and I got the spicy tomato dressing. I ended up switching out the dressing to get the miso as well. The tomato dressing tasted like canned tomatoes mixed with store bought italian dressing with some parmesan cheese thrown in. My friend says that she thinks all of the dressings and sauces are made in house, and that she didn't think they would use canned tomatoes. I disagree. I ordered my Ali Baba with cashews instead of pistachios because I'm, sadly, allergic to pistachios. They were very accomodating and piled on the cashews. The dish was described as being grilled tofu, but the tofu seemed fried to me, kind of tough and chewy. I mean, I actually don't mind fried tofu, and I like it a lot when done well, but I was just a little confused. The lettuce that came out as the wrap for the tofu filling was very fresh. That was nice. The dipping sauces, again, I am 99% sure it was store bought. I was going to say 99.5%, but I will be generous and give them a full 1% benefit of the doubt. I gave them three stars because I like that they gave us a pile of fresh fruit with our meal-- the fruit was really fresh, it was pretty inexpensive, and because I'm pretty generous with my stars. read more

I usually snub a place with too few options for a meal, and while the Rainbow covers their bases with their options, the great potato omelette was so greasy I felt like I was eating at McDonalds. All I can say is WOW! My brother and I ate here for breakfast and it was the best breakfast we have ever had. Along with the food being amazing, the waitresses were also wonderful. I love this place, not only as a patron but also a summer employee (awhile back). I've been a lifelong customer, they catered my parents wedding, and we've been eating here ever since.
