Very bad customer service. Waited almost an hour to get our food. Should have read the reviews before we sat down.

This restaurant is grossly overpriced for subpar food and extremely long wait times. We had lunch yesterday with 3 small children. McDonald's has better quality. It took over an hour and a half to receive our food and were so disappointed when it arrived. The table behind us had to ask for their orders to come out in To Go boxes. I don't mind paying higher prices for quality food but there's nothing quality about this restaurant. read more

This was our first time at the restaurant. We got sat at a table that hadn't been cleaned yet. They never gave us silverware. We tried the multi sampler platter, which was subpar. Our waitress hardly checked on us. we were sat down next to five tables that were dirty and where never cleaned by the time we left the restaurant 45 minutes later. read more

This meal was so gross we threw most of it out. The popcorn shimp smelled so bad that no one at the table would eat it. It was so bad we had to carry it away before we continued eating. Well we never got to eat here because they would not allow us to bring in a stroller.. this is not a family friendly place. I never had an issue with ANY restraurant with allowing strollers.. usually they just move one chair and we put the stroller there, thats it. We have NEVER left our stroller out in the way of other customers and staff..we were also shopping in the mall so of course we had a stroller.. and our little guy is a baby, not a toddler thats capable of even walking or sitting up yet in a high chair. I think by the time we got done arguing with them at the entrance they were going to seat us near the entrance but that was no fun.. we wanted to be by the animals, this place will never get our business and I have never encountered such rude service like this anywhere.. I could understand if most restraurants had a no stroller policy but never been anywhere that did.. I am not going to leave our stroller outside of the place so it can possibly get stolen.. no way! I am going to make sure this gets out there and spreading the word about your terrible customer service and policy!!! read more

Food is expensive but kids meals are reasonable. $13 for adult cheeseburger and fries. It was very good though! We got the chimichangas and spinach artichoke dip and it was great! The atmosphere with the aquariums and moving animals is great too. They use to have a "storm" every 15 minutes with lightening, animals making noise etc... now it's only every 30 minutes? Two stars is pushing it, but I did it because the bartender made this place worth an extra star!! She was the only one pulling her weight, every other employee here saunters along at a casual pace, and with bad manners to boot!! The bartender was amazing, pulling not only her own job behind the bar, but also doing the waiters job as well as bussing tables!! She deserves a huge pay raise!! Everyone else in the place could learn from her!! Even the old man manager moved faster than the rest of them!! On top of bad service, the food is terrible!! I ordered a mixed fajita plate, chicken and beef, and it was bland and almost tasteless!! I had to ask the waiter to check the kitchen for my fiancées pasta dish, and even that was swimming in watery sauce!! My cousin ordered a gluten free salad dish, and the chef had to come out to discuss it with her, and when she got the salad, it was awful!! You go to this place because your kids like the atmosphere, no other reason to ever come here. Food is subpar to an Applebee's let alone an actual restaurant. We had a horrible service that there this weekend. Food came out, asked the guy from the kitchen for silverware, none came. Waitress came by about 5 minutes later, asked her for silverware so we could eat our food, Sarah replied sure thing. She then proceeded to go to the two tables next to us and took their orders before returning to the kitchen. When she did bring out silverware it was dirty, and she didn't bring any napkins, she just laid it in a pile one the side of the table. We had to walk over to an unused table and take silverware, napkins, and ketchup off of it so we could just eat out food. read more

horrible experience. we looked forward to eating here as we don't have this franchise in Grand Rapids, but we won't be back. Ordered an appetizer (bland) and 3-5 minutes after it was set down on our table, our entrees showed up. I mentioned that it wasn't cool that they ran the appetizer so close to the meal and she looked at me blankly and said "well do you still want the food?" well duh. otherwise you're going to put it under a heat lamp for 20 minutes and then its nasty. A minute later, our waitress stopped by, apologized and said the manager would come by to talk to us. The manager never showed up, but the waitress said they were going to take $13 off of our bill. The appetizer was almost 20, so I'm not sure where they pulled that number from. She also had our bill in her hand and asked if we'd like some to-go boxes. Huh? Keep in mind we were just handed our entrees. She's asking if we'd like dessert and boxes and we just received our food. She likely realized that our meal was going south and wanted to herd us out as quickly as possible. We were in and out of the restaurant within a half hour. The food was just 'ok' Overpriced for what is basically a step above Long John Silvers seafood. We were rushed in and out, with little regard to our experience there, and ultimately you go to Rainforest for the experience. We won't be back. read more

The food is awful and expensive. Our kids love the atmosphere / animals, but spending $100+ for two adults and 3 children under the age of 6 for bad food isn't worth the ambiance. Had lunch here today. One adult one child. Was pretty busy so I understood having a little longer of a wait between being seated, greeted, drinks and food delivery. Even thought the tables are sticky and it smells weird, the food is still really good and I will recommend this to everyone

We're not huge fans because of the ridiculously priced meals and mediocre food, but knew our 8-yr old would love it for her birthday. So we made a birthday party reservation and confirmed when we picked up the invitations. When we arrived at our reservation time, the place was mostly empty, but somehow they failed to have our table ready. Nothing set, none of the party favors out, no birthday welcome. We told the hostess we'd skip the birthday package and just let everyone order from the kids menu - saving more than half the price. The kids didn't even notice the difference. About 15 minutes in, two servers showed up with arm loads of the crap they should've had ready to begin with - we just told them we didn't want it. The kids didn't see them or notice anything, luckily, and had fun anyway. We the parents, however, would never consider having a party here again. Just totally sloppy and careless. Clearly their bottom line is the almighty dollar and has nothing to do with the kids they focus on entertaining. read more

The idea of going to lunch at the Rainforest Cafe with two little kids is a good one for the atmosphere, however this location is disgusting. This location smells as though the carpets need to be cleaned, and the table and chairs are very sticky. I even noticed tons of dust on the greenery above me while I was eating. On top of the lack of cleanliness in this business, the food is WAY overpriced, I opted for the garden burger since it was the lowest burger on the menu at $12-14, and it was disgusting. I will never go back to rainforest cafe again. Didn't mind the service at all. That wasn't the problem. I'm sure it is a fun environment for kids but as a parent, why in the world would you want to be there with your kids. First off, the food is ridiculously overpriced for lower than mediocre quality food. The night previous to going to Rainforest Cafe, I had eaten at a high end, gourmet, seafood restaurant that was located right on Lake Michigan. Beautiful scenery and enjoyable environment. My family of 6 and I ate there and the bill was definitely expected to be expensive due to the circumstances. It didn't bother my family or myself that we paid that much because we were all perfectly satisfied. After eating at Rainforest Cafe, I was so disgusted at the price of the bill because we ended up paying the same amount at Rainforest Cafe as we did at the nice seafood restaurant. I would NEVER put these two restaurants in the same category concerning the quality of food or environment. Secondly, I couldn't even see my food that I was eating because it is so dark in there. That is more of a minor problem but still frustrates me. Finally, I couldn't stand the noises that constantly were going off. It drove me insane. Not too bad. We realize when we go here we are paying for the atmosphere...that being said two of us had burgers that were pretty good. My son had the kids sliders...I should have known better. Every place I've ever been to that has kids sliders cooks the heck out of them...they were dried little hockey pucks. My daughter got the coconut shrimp and they weren't too bad on their own...but the sauce served with them was a weird mix of orange marmalade, mango, and a TON of cumin. It was so overpowering, especially on delicate shrimp, we couldn't eat it. The service, as always, was just so so. I always find myself stealing salt, pepper, ketchup from other people's tables. Every time we've been there drinks are rarely refilled and you have to find someone to get you forgotten condiments. Took 5yr.old grandson yesterday (4-29-15) and had a great time. Was a little worried after reading some of the reviews here but for us, everything was good. We were seated promptly and had excellent server, Kristina--she was very attentive and got our food quickly. In spite of what others have said here, there was no pressure to order any more than what we wanted, hubby said the burger was good, and my salad was plenty. Everytime I visit, I say never again, but I mean it this time. It's a parent trap and the servers take advantage of your distraction to upsell or pressure you to make quick choices while you are still trying to seat young children. While trying to seat a 2 and 3 year old I agreed to 3 red slurpees in souvenir glasses by waving my hand at my husband. She didn't want to wait for a drink order or come back so she suggested a drink and again I said fine because I'm still trying to seat my family. We ended up with more souvenir glasses we don't want or need. Our server was incredibly rude and impatient about everything and it ruined my meal. After the drinks I didn't want, I was smart enough to send her away and ask for a minute to look at the menu. This made her twice as impatient when she came back. I have never been so tempted to stiff a server in my life. She was awful. The food is slow to come and overpriced for heat and serve atrocities. Your best bet is to enjoy a good meal elsewhere and come have drinks or a desert( they aren't overly impressive either). to enjoy the ambiance. Went here for a date night with my boyfriend. The food was pricey but that was to be expected for the type of restaurant. Our waiter Jimmy was amazing. He was incredibly nice and quick. My friends and I decided to stop in one day for nachos and desserts, and we had the worst experience EVER. There were 4 of us, 2 of whom had never been there before and the other 2 hadn't been there for over 5/10 years. It all started when had gotten the slip of paper for seating (all they wrote was the number in our party-no names, or anything) and tried to get seated. The boy who was seating people told us it would be an hour wait. We didn't think much, but half of the tables were open and they seated the party in front of us as well as behind us, but we were told it would be a wait. We walked around shopping for 45 minutes before returning to get seated. Once there the employees had no clue what to do with us. The employee now seating people was extremely confused and we were told that a name for our party should have been written down on the paper from earlier and that the wait we were given was very wrong. After calling around, they finally seated us. We ordered our food and told our server right away that we planned on getting the chocolate dessert that had the sparkler on it. The food came no problem, and we watched countless other tables get those same desserts with the sparkler. When it came time for ours, there was no sparkler. Our server told us that they were out and continued a long speech about how it was the end of the week and that they had run out of them. He offered us a candle instead and we took him up on that offer. He spent the next 10 or so minutes trying to find said candle (I believe that he should have brought it out with the dessert to begin with). We didn't mind them running out of it. A couple of people in our party have been servers before so we're very understanding of the situations that arise. I decided to keep my eye out to see if any other desserts had the sparkler, and 10 minutes later I saw another one come out of the kitchen WITH A SPARKLER. At this point, I was about to flag down our server but one of my friends talked me out of it. We thought that the table might have had a birthday, and that their server saved the last one for them, so we kept on. I decided to continue to wait and see if any more came out. 15 minutes later, lo and behold- ANOTHER ONE CAME OUT. This table had come after us, and didn't have any birthday's or anything to explain it. We tried to catch our server to talk about it, but he openly IGNORED us. Every time he passed us he made sure to keep a drink on his tray as an excuse to not stop and speak with us and slipped us our bill while he was rushing past. My problem is the utter lack of communication (with seating people), the fact other tables (who walked in, like we did) got seated before us and that we had to wait an hour, the fact our server openly LIED to our faces and then proceeded to hide from us when he wanted to speak to him. It wasn't even a busy day. I didn't spend $40 on 2 dishes and drinks, only to be disrespected and ignored the entire time. I have spoken with my entire party, and none of us will be returning and neither will our friends or family. read more

Me and my wife took our grandson here. Okay to start. Yes the food is not meant for adults. Food Quality well there is none.The prices are very high for what you get. The staff was not worth remembering, if they worked at my store i would have fired them. It's loud and flashy and the shows get annoying. Now main reason we went here was for my Grandson. He loved it and the chicken fingers and fries, and the chocolate milk. He thought the food was Gourmet. Again as stated above food not meant for adults here. He loved watching the shows and seeing all the lightning and so fourth. He can't wait to go back and he meant soon. Now did me and my wife leave with a massive headache, YES. Did i drop 100$, YES. This was our first time in the area. We traveled up just stay the night to take the kids and the family here. The Ambiance is great. It's well-decorated with nice minor animatronics. The fish tanks look really good. Overall the environment is worth the trip. The food was okay. Expect to spend between 19 and $29. It's not fresh farm-to-table type stuff. It looks like corporate type stuff that's prepared any food processing place and shipped to be heated. But overall it wasn't bad. You're definitely playing for the environment but hey it's worth it. Our waitress was phenomenal. We tried to use a Groupon and they seem to have a lot of trouble and frustration trying to figure out how their corporate had setup the way to redeem it. There's like 6 different steps just to use it. And unfortunately nobody there knew how to use it. It was a $90 for $100 Groupon so it wasn't even worth the aggravation and the 45 minutes for them to figure out how it worked. We actually received the day prior some coupons for my wife's birthday they were a much better deal. But we already paid for the Groupon. My advice skip the Groupon because the parent Mega corporation that owns the Rainforest Cafe has made a mess of that. Yes the parent company is an investment company that owns all kinds of properties and restaurants. The Groupon is not like a regular Groupon which we use all the time. We made it a reservation and good thing we did. When we left the line was going out the door. It's located right in a very cool outlet mall. If you're coming spend the day because there's plenty of things to do. Overall the experience was good. Food was just okay. Kind of reminded me of the quality that you would get it on Ponderosa but nicely arranged. But it's a good time for the kids in the family. Again if you see it Groupon skip it. COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANYMORE DISSATISFIED HERE! I went here back in the year 2000 and the food was fresh the staff was friendly and courteous and we received our food in a timely manner. I just recently was back and ordered the trio my girlfriend ordered ribs and steak the food was not fresh it seemed like it was cooked the day before and it was cold I asked waitress to. Fix it and she came back about 10 minutes latter and it was Still cold when. we we seated in the resturant the waitress asked us if we were ready to order and we said we needed a few minutes we didn't see her for another 20 minutes to take our order. This place has a great atmosphere you think they could serve the food hot & fresh and in a timely manner. Service was impeccable here back in the year 2000. Now its gone into the crapper we were served cold old food and it was chewy tough to eat and I ordered two mixed drinks which seemed to have no alcohol in them whatsoever. The bill was like more than $80.00 I've had better food and service at Subway resturant. If your contemplating of dining here saved your $$$ and eats anywhere else! MAJOR DISAPOINTMENT!!
