Representing 2024 in alphabet series, R is for Raising Cane's. I was familiar with Raising Cane's when I visited my parents in Phoenix in mid 2010's and thought they were great. I went to this location multiple times in 2023-2025. They opened in September 2023, which was the 2nd location in MD. This is about 15 miles from my home, which isn't too far. Then, Columbia location opened, which is closer at about 10 miles. The first location in MD was way up in Towson. I was up that way in March 2023 for a trivia tournament and thought to get an early lunch at Raising Cane's as I was excited to try at the time the only location in MD, but parking was a pain and line was too long. So, I ended up eating at the trivia tournament venue. Then, in September 2023, they opened this 2nd MD location here on a Friday. I went on its 2nd day that Saturday as coincidentally, I had a trivia tournament. It was a madhouse on route 3 in the left lane getting in here. I ended up parking on the Wendy's side as it was too hectic in there; you're not supposed to do that, and I never did that again, but that 1st weekend was hectic. Line was long, but they were going as quickly as they could. I was a bit nervous about my timing, but eventually, I got my food, ate a bit quicker than usual, and drove the 5 minutes to the trivia tournament. It was delicious. I love the chicken tenders, fries, & Texas toast here. I don't really like coleslaw, but I don't mind theirs. The baskets come with a drink, and I get half sweet/half unsweet tea every time, and it's freshly brewed. My girlfriend & I went to this location a couple of times mostly in 2024. Chicken baskets are always on point. In June 2024, we bumped into someone from trivia, which we three were going to tournament. He loved Raising Cane's probably even more than me. He said he lived very close to here and would come here sometimes multiple times a week. He also replaced fries (which is unhealthy) with more Texas toast (which is also unhealthy but maybe less so), and he loved the Texas toast more than fries. I agree with him on that here, but I want the fries as I want the variety. I'll keep coming back as a Caniac! read more

This was my very first experience with Raising Cane's! They were new to the area about a year ago and every time I'd pass one, the lines would be insane. After actually having a meal today, I'm going to assume the long lines were just hype because it was new restaurant in the area. My meal wasn't bad at all, but certainly would not be worth waiting an eternity for an average chicken tender meal. Thankfully, after a year, the lines seemed to have died down and I did not have to wait at all. I placed my order online, and it was waiting for me on the shelf when I walked in. The chicken tenders are better than your standard fast food joint and I enjoyed the Texas toast. I was a little surprised that the menu is so limited with side options only including crinkle cut fries, Texas toast and coleslaw. I guess they've found their niche and are sticking to it! I was driving by the area and was lucky enough to notice that there was no lines so you know I had to stop by to get some chicken tenders. The service was fast and food was hot. The chicken tenders are good, I wouldn't stand in line for them, but they are delicious with the sauce. My favorite would be the buttered toast, I could probably eat a whole box of it. read more

Anyhoo, traveled all this way for chicken tenders and fries...didn't have too many options to choose from...besides 2, 3 or 4 tenders lol They didn't offer any other kind of sauce options...just their "cane" sauce and I wasn't a fan. They do offer a chicken "sandwich" which is just 3 tenders on a hamburger bun... The line is superrrr long!!!! Please keep this in mind when visiting this restaurant. So instead of waiting in the drive thru line, we found a park at the Wendy's next door, since parking was limited at Cane's and I think that was our best option. Upon entering the restaurant the decor is super cute and funky. They have disco balls in the ceiling. The line on the other hand was still a little long, but It was actually moving. I was surprised they only had one person on the register. But once you place your order, your food is literally ready 2 mins later. The turn around was pretty quick to my surprise. Now for the food. I honestly don't see what the hype is about. It was pretty basic. And you definitely need the sauce to compliment It. But I will say their honey mustard was good; unfortunately you only get one sauce per order and you have to pay extra for any more sauces. However I will say I was obsessed with how fresh and tasty their fries were. Nice and crunchy! And the traces toast was hitting as well. The tenders were juicy but pretty basic. There was nothing special about It. I'll score this place 6/10. I would go back for a quick bite, but I'm definitely not waiting in that long line. read more

I've eaten at this chain in LA and at the SOBE Food Network Wine and Food festival and couldn't wait for this location to open! The drive through line was mad long but I waited only about 20 mins or so. Actual people are outside taking your order to move things along quickly. I ordered the 6 strips with double fries. Well....the strips were not as good as the ones in LA and at the festival but were pretty decent. The crinkle fries were yummy! Food was hot! I like the Cane sauce better than honey mustard! Yum! I have to say that for this being the second day open. They're doing really well. Security is keeping everything organized in the parking lot, so there isn't as much confusion as you'd think. I was able to park in the Raising Cane's lot and grab food for my daughter within 15 minutes. The inside is actually not packed, but there was an employee letting people in a few at a time. I guess to keep it from being too crowded on the inside. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and the food was good. I ended up getting the Caniac combo and a kids meal for my daughter. I had a lot of people tell me that the strips weren't that good, and it was the sauce that made the difference, but that wasn't true today. I feel like Raising Cane's gonna be somewhere I come to treat myself every now and then. My kids like it and it's something new in the area. Check em out! read more

Grand Opening Day 9/6/2023. The actual location of the restaurant is right off Robert Crain Hwy. It is tucked between AutoZone and Wendy's so it can be an easy miss if you're not looking for it. There's one way in, one way out. Parking is SLIM (about 25 spaces). Maybe because it's opening day, but a popular restaurant like this, I don't see the crowd dying down any time soon! Besides all that, glad there's one semi-close by! Definitely beats a drive to Townson or Waldorf! It's a fairly simple menu!!! But sometimes simple is all you need.... I'm usually a Box Combo girl myself. Chicken Fingers, fries, coleslaw, Texas toast. Tea, lemonade, and of course regular fountain drinks. The staff was super friendly, and well-trained. The lines in the store and the drive-thru were both long so I went to the drive-thru. I was in line about 15 minutes. My food was served less than a minute after my order was placed. The customer service was top tier and the cashiers were all polite. The order was hot and the food appeared fresh. The kids were excited to get Canes because of all the hype. They actually loved the food. In my opinion, it doesn't live up to the hype. The chicken strips were okay, and the fries were nothing special. I liked the sweet tea. My order was missing the Texas toast, but I wasn't going to get back in that long line to get it. If the kids want it I would buy it again, but after all the hype I'm definitely disappointed. read more

On the way back home from Baltimore, my family and I stopped to grab something to eat. We noticed that the line was shorter than normal so I went ahead and pulled in. It took a long time but with reading all the signs and watching everyone walk out with bulk orders, I figured it had to be good! After some time it's our turn to order! There are not a lot of options. So we went with 3 four piece combos with lemonade, (I don't eat meat) large fry and a lemonade. The kids and my sister said the chicken was ok. I tasted the coleslaw which was not good to me. And we all tried the fries. They don't look like much but after eating a few, they were ok. They were salted very well. It's not beating out any of their competition in the area. The lemonade was watery and didn't have the pucker we were looking for. The bread though... that was really tasty! Service was great. Everything is made to order. It is very hot when you get your food. They are going to have to work on that. They remind me of slim chickens in Bowie. I normally don't review fast food joints but this is a true story. I have a friend who will remain nameless, that drove from Laurel, MD. (Anne Arundle Co) to Sterling, VA. because Raising Cane's chicken fingers were that good. I have never heard of such a thing but I don't have kids and she said it was her daughter's request but I digress.. Lol. So when I saw them building this location I could not WAIT to taste chicken fingers that would make anyone for any reason drive that far. Honestly, my friend set them up for failure because I wanted to taste heaven in my mouth.. Lol! After spending 25 minutes in drive through and spending $11 bucks for a three piece tender meal, the verdict is.. They were good, small but good. They're a tad better tasting than Bojangles and right on par with Chick Fila.. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, they're not that special that I would travel out of my neighborhood to get them.. There's always a long line but you don't feel like it bc service is really good and fast. We've been three times now & the food has been consistently piping hot. Finally made my way to the newest Canes in the area. The drive through line was at least 20 cars long so we went inside for service. The inside is spacious, clean, and well decorated; the bathroom was also nice and clean which is always a win. There were about 3-4 patrons in a line that moved very quickly. Within 2 minutes we had placed our orders with a very friendly cashier and were waiting for food. The tenders are the star of the show. Dip them in Canes sauce and let yourself float into a state of happiness. Both the tenders and fries were crunchy and delicious; the sides of Texas toast and the cole slaw are near perfect (the slaw just needs some pepper). The 6 piece tender combo was $17 and the 4 piece was $12. A decent amount of food for the price, but some of the tenders did seem a bit small. After we received our food, we asked for some honey mustard - at which time we learned that it costs an extra 41 cents per packet and that we have to get back in line to order it. C'mon really? Who charges per packet of sauce in 2023 (and has to ring a customer up for it)? Needless to say, we didn't get back in line (which had grown a bit) just for sauce. Over several weeks, the new opening of Raising Canes has caused traffic jams and I wanted to see what the hype was about. I stopped by at 7:30pm and the line was just out to the entrance. There are two split bay lanes but only one was opened. We timed our experience and it took 31 minutes from arrival to leaving. Okay, for the food - the tenders are meaty, fresh, and breaded well. Lacks flavor and seasoning for me. The crinkle fries are ok but dry and lacks salt. The toast was not toasting and the lemonade was not lemony at all. But BABY, that SAUCE IS FIRE!!! I went around lunch time on a Thursday and ordered the 3 finger combo. It is just like I remember it when I first tried in New Orleans. The tenders were plump, juicy, crispy, and most importantly hot. The sauce is sooo good I need the recipe. The fries were okay. They could of been hotter. They were also skinny for crinkle fries. Lets not forget the Toast, the combo would not be considered one without it. I wish I ordered an extra piece. Everything was amazing. Can't wait to go back. Decided to brave the traffic for dinner tonight. THE EXPERIENCE: The drive-thru lines were crazy long as this is only day 3 for being open. When we had a chance we parked in the Wendy's lot and walked across to dine inside. Staff are monitoring the entry to avoid over-crowding inside- smart move. It only took us about 10 minutes to place our order at the counter. Staff seemed well trained, weee friendly, and new the menu and POS system. Granted there may be outside management in for the opening so remember this is a new restaurant and be patient with staff who may be new and learning the ropes. THE FOOD: we ordered a 3-finger combo and a box combo with extra sauce (extra charge). The FINGERS were juicy, tender, and hot. Aside from that I'm not sure what the hype is about. I prefer a bit more flavor to my chicken and a bit more crunch... maybe the temp was not as high as it could have been due to then amount of business they are currently doing. The TEXAS TOAST was a good size and was quite tasty. The FRIES were ... crinkle cut potatoes. They were cooked all the way through but were not crispy at all. Just limp serving utensils for the sauce. I realize this too could be affected by the volume of business they are currently doing. The COLESLAW was what I expected and was not overly sweet which is how I prefer it. Obviously because they are using new equipment the SWEET TEA and UNSWEETENED TEA were great. Well see if it stays that way over time. The SAUCE: I didn't find this to be rave-worthy. It brings the flavor of black pepper to whatever food item carries it but otherwise is a bit unremarkable. I will be back in the event that my experience was marred by the adjustments needed at a new restaurant as they get their feet on the ground. There's only 3 things on the menu. I had the Box Combo, which consists of 4 chicken fingers, crinkle fries, coke slaw, a slice of Texas toast, and a iced tea/lemonade (30 cent upcharge). The chicken fingers were ok, but small. The fries were not good, towards bottom, there weee very skinny old looking fries. The cole slaw was ok. The bread was soft, it should have been toasted. Finally, a Canes near us! Husband had never had Canes before, I had it when down south in college. OH MAN, HOW IVE MISSED CANES SAUCE! We only had to wait in line for about 35 minutes. We were expecting much longer since the lines were way backed up at least to route 3. They did do a great job at cycling traffic and making sure people zippered into the line. Great job security! We got 2 sandwiches and 2 strip entrees. Good thing we checked the bag before leaving the parking lot. Our sandwiches were not there, so we ran in really quickly to snag those. I went to the Grand Opening weekend in Crofton, MD, it was so much fun. I love the decor inside. One Love sign, Disc Balls, picture of Elvis Presley and beautiful light fixtures. I love the smell of a brand new store, so fresh and so clean. The staff was friendly and worked diligently to get the customers in and out. The chicken fingers were hot and crispy and who doesn't love crispy, crinkle french fries. I loved the ketchup and signature dipping sauce. The outdoor service was great too. Aniyah was so friendly, sweet and courteous, asking my guest and I if I needed anything and if we needed refills. It was really a great experience. I will be back. read more

On crazy Grand Opening Day, there are tried and true fans here! I waited over an hour on 301N then finally parked across the street (at Wendy's) and waited in another line to get my 3 Finger Combo! Was it worth it? Heck YA!!! The last time I had Cane's was in Las Vegas and I'm so happy they're now here, local in Maryland! The chicken was hot and crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. I love the Cane's sauce too - it's addicting! The fries were non-greasy, hot and crisp too, just perfect and of course the TX Toast is so so good! My drink was a half iced tea and lemonade! Raising Cane's new location in Gambrills, MD wasn't too busy this morning, so we grabbed some for everyone this and I have to say it was pretty underwhelming compared to what I've seen on social media from people acting like crack heads feenin for that next hit waiting for the location to open. I love crinkle fries, but theirs were soggy and flimsy. The Cole slaw was bland and lacked a sweetness. The Texas toast was good, may have even been the best part of the meal. The chicken strips were good, but not anywhere close to the hype, if I'm craving chicken strips, I would prefer Popeyes and Chick-fil-A. I don't see what's so great about their Cane's sauce, it honestly just tasted like someone decided to take a chance and mix some condiments already in their refrigerator. read more

With all the social media about raising canes, and how good it was, I had to check it out for myself. first, let me get to the positive points. Every single employee in that store was five stars so polite welcoming you to the store when you're done telling you have a good day delivering the food to your table. Very courteous great staff also for a fast food restaurant especially if you are traveling with small children, their restrooms are immaculate, which is a rarity in the fast food business usually you would not let your pet use them! Now onto the chicken. To be very frank their chicken is nothing special. The batter had no spice to it and the cane sauce to me taste like mayonnaise with Worcestershire sauce, I do like the crinkle fries they serve like shake shack does. But they did not have any ketchup out and did not bring any which I found unusual. read more

Chicken fingers are lightly breaded, crispy and the star of the show as expected. The fries were unexpectedly crispy despite being very pale in color. They were good. I do appreciate the fries were unsalted!! The coleslaw needs work, too much oil not enough flavor. Texas Toast, basic. The dipping sauce, wochestire sauce gives it its flavor profile...used to super hot, hot sauce but this was ok. I'd rather have a selection of sauces to compliment the chicken. The soda came with pebbled ice, very nice! More surface area, keeps it colder, faster. Overall the chicken was great. Lighter. Crispy and delicious. Needs more sauce selections. Friendly staff. I had to get my blood drawn this morning and was starving from fasting, I saw the line was short and decided to check this place out. The chicken tenders were similar to Chick-fil-A but not as good. The Raising Canes sauce was ok but I would have preferred Ranch. The fries weren't crispy enough and needed salt. The Texas Toast wasn't toasted enough but was ok. Y'all, once you've had it you won't want it again! They have like 3 things on the menu: tenders, slaw, fries, and bread. They only have ONE type of sauce and it tastes like Mayo/ketchup/ and something pungent like horseradish. I personally did not like it at all. The tenders breading fell off leaving juicy but flavorless chicken. The fries tasted like they came from a public school cafeteria. The bread was the most flavorful thing in the menu, probably bc it had butter and was slightly toasted. We went in to place an order trying to avoid the crazy drive thru. The inside was also crazy, waiting 20-30mins for a basic one meal order. I would not go back based off the sauce alone.
