    Great Seafood Boil Spot!

Great local seafood boil spot! The regular and cajun fries are a hit, the crawfish and snow-crab are super fresh. The service was fast and friendly. Get the strawberry lemonade and margaritas, would come again!

Seafood not tasty, undercooked, overpriced. Better frozen from Aldis . Carry out, takes way too long . Long wait times. 2 stars at best

I often order some of their jumbo shrimp along with my fish, expecting 2 (as stated in the menu) but always receive a 3rd (perhaps not a true "jumbo"), but when did you last receive more than expected or paid for? Tried other fried fish places, but I always return here as none of them can compare.

Normally this comes with an Oyster but another Scallop was substituted as I don't care for Oysters... about the only type of seafood I don't care for. I did think the batter for the Calamari was too spicy. I had "wooder" to drink. Overall I was very satisfied with the meal. Well done H Salt. There was one all gender washroom which was not immaculate but was satisfactory. I was glad to see that paper towels were available. I have a bone to pick about the personal appearance of the employees at this establishment. I saw that the guys working at this establishment failed to tuck their shirts in. I consider that to be highly unprofessional so I am deducting one point as this is something I am OCD about. I was glad to see Pepsi was available though I didn't have any this visit and I was happy to learn that refills are free. If I was to assign a letter grade as is done in school, this establishment would get a solid B.

One of the biggest things for me is the space. When you're playing pool, you actually have room to move around unlike a lot of bars where you feel cramped. I also like that they have full size pool tables. Since I'm a bit taller, it just makes the whole experience of playing pool that much better. There's regular events and even a pool league on Tuesday nights, so there's always something going on. If you are not familiar with Garden Grove, this place is definitely a hidden gem. The food is top notch, but honestly the ambiance is what sets it apart from your average billiards bar. It is extremely clean, which is important to me, and there's plenty of space between you and other people whether you are playing pool or sitting down to eat. It really does feel like a playground for adults in the best way. I also like that it is family friendly. There's large tables that are perfect for crab boils and similar meals where they lay down wax paper and everyone can sit together and enjoy. When I was there, there was a group of kids celebrating a birthday, and at the same time there were adults playing pool and hanging out. The place is so big that it almost feels like there's separate areas for kids and adults, but it is all in one space and you do not even notice each other. That's how spacious it is. I have been here on Sunday afternoons, Tuesday evenings, and Friday nights, and it is always busy with great energy. The music selection is great too. And this next part is insane to me since I'm a huge fan of famous pool players. The legendary GOAT Efren Reyes is going to be there on April 26th playing pool and interacting with fans. I saw the flyer on the wall and immediately grabbed VIP tickets. I'll be lucky enough to say hi to him up close from the VIP section and watch him work his magic in person, which is just unreal to me. Definitely check out the Wharf, you won't regret it.

The restaurant was relatively empty when we went so we were seated immediately. There was only one man running around taking everyone order, but he was nice and attentive. The restaurant is spacious, there are also many pool tables on another half of the restaurant and bar seating. Now, the real deal is food. I have pretty high standard for seafood boil, and this did not meet that standard at all. However, it's all up to preference. Cajun seafood boil (we got crawfish): very bland. You can barely taste the Cajun. I like the punch of the savoriness of Cajun but this has barely any coating on the crawfish. It's not juicy, it's not marinated. The crawfish meat is also pretty bad, tasted close to spoil for some. I understand it's not seafood season, but I've been to other seafood places that can maintain their seafood quality even during off season, this is just not one of the places. Crawfish Mac n cheese: very cheesy, duh. But that's really it to it, not much flavor profile. Just cheese, Mac, and crawfish. And back with the dead dry crawfish that made it off putting. The Mac n cheese itself is pretty decent though, but don't expect a flavor explosion when eating it. Think of it like a dish for kids. Sweet potato fries: jyst my go to sides with my crawfish. It tasted like any sweet potato fries, yay!

I had a rare itch for fish and chips so I chose the Chippy Fish & Grill for my food. They are located upstairs in the middle across from the main front entrance. They have a basic menu including items and combos with fish, shrimp, calamari, BBQ ribs, chicken strips, chips/fries (regular, garlic, or Cajun flavored), hush puppies, onion rings, and wings. They also have clam chowder and cole slaw. I ordered the two piece fish and one jumbo shrimp combo which also comes with fries. It only cost $3.25 extra to upgrade from one piece of fish to two and that seemed like a good deal. They give you a vibrating pager to let you know when to come back and pick up your order. Less than ten minutes later, the pager went off and I picked up my food which is served on a tray. The order pick area is about ten feet to the right of where you order. It came with cocktail sauce for the jumbo shrimp and two containers of tartar sauce for the fish. It does not come with malt vinegar be default, but they gave me two containers when I asked for it. There are a lot of places all over the packing district where you can sit and eat. The two pieces of fish and the jumbo shrimp were a generous size and battered just the right amount. Everything was fried well and cooked throughout. The fries were good although I usually like them a little more on the crispy side. They were fresh fried so I would ask for that next time. The food and sauces all tasted great. The two staff members I interacted with were friendly.

We stopped by here on my birthday for a nice evening dinner. Got there a little before sunset. There's just something magical about eating outside during a sunset, especially at the Orange Plaza. The restaurant has such a cool look and vibe! We started off with the Hamachi crudo, salmon ceviche, and a bowl of clam "chowdah". The crudo was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. The salmon ceviche was really good but a bit heavy on the sauce for me. The clam chowder had whole clams in the shell throughout. That was fun to pick them out! For entrees we got the lean and mean plate with sea bass. It comes with salad and rice, we substituted the rice for black beans. We also got the skirt steak "bulgogi" which was served on top of mushrooms and bok choy with a sweet soy sauce. They accidentally brought out salmon instead of sea bass, but were very apologetic. They brought out a sea bass on the side and comped the entree to make up for it. Great service right there! The salmon and seabass were both delicious and cooked perfectly. The steak was tender and juicy, full of flavor. As a birthday gift they brought out a thai milk tea blondie sundae which was soooo good! Get it if you like sweets. I wish the owners all the best in their future endeavors, they created a great restaurant that many will miss. Thanks to all the servers, hostesses, cooks, and bussers as well for making my birthday dinner so special!

It was busy while we were there mid afternoon with only one open table most of the time. The food is good but definitely has some small things to work on. The mac and cheese was very watery. We will definitely be back to try more things on the menu. Just excited there is finally a local place to get decent lobster rolls at. My recommendation would be to focus on the lobster rolls and tacos. ditch the quesadillas grilled cheeses and lobster fries.
