This is our go to spot when we're craving some seafood boil. Service is always top notch and the flavors are always consistent! That's why we make this a once the month visit! My kids are obsessed with their Cajun fries that come out pipping hot and spicy! We always order fresh crawfish when it's in season, shrimp and clams- the WholeShabang Medium! The wait is long but so worth it. Plenty of parking and you can visit some stores there while waiting or sit in your car! Make sure you add your name to the waitlist on the drive there and check in with the host! Your whole party needs to be there or they will not seat you! It's a big restaurant and has all the good vibes!

I always love going to boiling crab when I'm craving seafood. I came on a Tuesday night and the wait wasn't bad only 5 minutes. The workers are all nice but a bit slow and make you feel like an inconvenience when asking for help. There's a lot of workers but I still had to spend a majority of my time flagging people down for help. Luckily the kitchen is well staffed because all of my food came out quickly and fresh. I always get the Cajun fries medium spice this is honestly my favorite thing from TBC I could definitely eat 2 baskets on my own but I ordered more food so I didn't. I also ordered 1 pound of shrimp and 1 sausage with whole sha bang and medium spice. My 2nd favorite thing here is the sausages so good, big, flavorful, and great texture/chewy. The shrimp is boiled shrimp meh not my favorite but it is what it is. Instead I love the sha-bang bang shrimp it's peeled, large, battered crispy, and deep fried also medium spice the sauce on this is more flavorful than the sauce in the boiled bag of shrimp. Overall I had a good experience besides having to flag workers down for help often.

Crab fries are a must get!! The garlic aioli sauce is super addictive

Came here on a Thursday night at 8 with a party of 5 and it was packed! Definitely join the Yelp waitlist ahead of time, that's a life saver Highly recommend the LIVE crawfish - huge difference in aroma, flavor, and texture from the original. The crab fries are also a must get, it's like the "surf" version of carne asada fries. Yum Pro tip - get some rice to pair with the leftover sauce from the seafood boil - don't waste that liquid gold!! Fries and 2 pounds of shrimp / crawfish comfortably fed 4.5 as my brother's girlfriend was "not hungry". Classic. Shout out to our server Nate who was very friendly, attentive, and helpful and made our dining experience an easy 5*! Restaurant vibe is very nostalgic and perfectly captures the lost art of family restaurants. Overall, had a fun and delicious night out with loved ones!

Came here after a shorter Disneyland/DCA trip and was very happy with the food and experience. I had been craving boiling crab for a while now and normally I would go to either the Alhambra or the Rosemead locations, but my boyfriend and I decided to eat at this location since it was closest the parks. While doing research I saw in photos that this location offered gloves which was very important in my decision for this location. I am not sure if other locations provide gloves (there is at least one other boiling crab location in Garden Grove). We arrived at around 2:30p and waited for the restaurant to open their doors at 3p. We joined via yelp waitlist on their tablet outside of the restaurant and were notified within 5 minutes that our table was ready. The restaurant was clean and the service was quick and efficient. We got a booth table which was perfect because i love to sit next to my boyfriend while we eat instead of across. Our server was Jimmy and he took our drink and food order immediately. He also gave us tons of lemons which I loved. Our food came out piping hot and delicious. It was my first time trying eggs in my seafood boil and I really enjoyed them. My boyfriend says getting all the add ins: potatoes (3 per order), corn (1 per order), sausage (1 link cut in pieces per order), and the hard boiled eggs (3 per order) is the way to go for maximum flavor and deliciousness. My boyfriend and I were very satisfied with our meals, the price, and the service. We had several staff members come by and check in on our table, as well as surrounding tables throughout the meal. We ended up ordering 2 drinks, 3 lbs of shrimp, 2 orders of potatoes, 3 corn, 1 sausage, 1 order of eggs, and two sides of white rice of less than $100. Will definitely be back, especially since we are magic key holders at Disneyland.

Wait time wasn't too bad for a weekday night (~30 mins) + friendly service + vibrant interior! We ordered the fried calamari basket which I recommend as they were super yummy and 1lb shrimp + 1lb crawfish + potatoes/sausages with the whole shabang sauce. Although not quite good as the first time I had it, I still liked it!

Been coming here for over 2 decades and it's still my favorite seafood boil spot. It's always busy so if you can get on the list before arriving then that's ideal. Music is always blasting with all around good vibes. Servers are quick and attentive. I always get a pound of shrimp, mild, the whole shebang. Here and there i would get some crawfish and oysters. It's always so good and i will continue to come!

Very good service from all the servers we've had here. We come very often and always feel welcomed. Some of the servers even remember us and sometimes remember our order, which is really nice and makes the experience feel more personal. The only downside is the snow crab legs. Sometimes we feel like we pay too much for them because they occasionally have very little meat inside. Other than that, we usually enjoy coming here and appreciate the great service.

This place gets packed over the weekend and Fridays so plan ahead ! Service is always great. This is my go to place ! I don't trust any other boiling crabs due to bad experience. They're always playing the right music too. Can't wait to come back

This was my first time at The Boiling Crab, and it did not disappoint! The environment is super casual and fun, perfect for rolling up your sleeves and digging in and you need to definitely wear the bib because it can get messy. My cousin and I ordered a pound of shrimp in the bag with The Whole Sha-Bang seasoning (mild spicy) along with corn on the cob and potatoes -- absolutely full of flavor! We also tried the fried Sha-Bang scallops with steamed rice, and they were delicious. Pro tip: definitely order a side of steamed rice because the leftover Sha-Bang sauce poured over it is just too good to waste. Service was attentive, and the food came out fast and hot. Overall, tasty food, great service, and a fun experience. I'd definitely visit again!

You cannot go wrong with Boiling Crab especially this location. Service is always super friendly and attentive, the manager even came by to make sure we were satisfied or needed anything which speaks volumes. One thing about boiling crab is that you will always get fresh food and one of ny personal favorites are their margaritas. Genuinely one of my favorites ever! Not too sweet or sour, just perfect hehe

There are many Boiling Crab locations in the OC area but this is by far our favorite. This Location is definitely one of the bigger boiling crabs offering different seating sections both booth and tables. Which is good considering boiling crab is always packed and there's usually a wait time. Our food never takes long to come out and there's many staff walking around at all times. Food is always a 10/10 and we've never run into any issues. I definitely recommend joining the waitlist ahead of time which is another feature i appreciate. This time around we ordered shrimp and blue crab but i would say the shrimp was the start of the show and i prefer the crawfish over the crab so will go back to order that next time.

Never had sea food boil and my sister is not a huge fan of seafood... starting with the service..10 stars amazing staff all super nice and helpful. Not pushy or rude. The playlist bumping and the food speaks for its self. Garlic, spice, and everything nice! Would love to come back to this location anytime with my family.

Can u put ur name on waitlst before u arrive?

Yes you can, only when really busy they close the sign in sheet

    Do they take reservations?

We do not take reservations, seating is first available. Please note that parties must be complete before being seated. For groups of 6 or fewer, Yelp Waitlist may be available to add your name to the list remotely.

What's the "average" cost for lobster tails and "average" cost meal per person? Just trying to gage how much $ I can expect to spend.

Honestly, it depends on how many items you are gonna order when you visit. When I went I paid for my whole family it cost me bout almost $300 bucks. So if you are going with someone you most likely pay like $40 -$50 bucks.

Will they allow you to split the bill on large parties?

Yes, checks may be split up to 4x per party.

Is showing proof of vaccine required or not yet planning to go for valentines?

No they do not ask, just mask required

Can you buy the sauce by itself?

Extra sauce may only be purchased with an entree, we do not sell the sauce on its own.

Does the whole sha-bang sauce have gluten ingredients (wheat/ flour/ barley/ rye)?

Nope, it's all spices and herbs.

How often do The Boiling Crab restock on seafood more pacifically crawfish?

We typically receive new product daily, however like many restaurants right now, we are dealing with pandemic-related supply-shortage issues, which includes some seafood items.

Are you open for dinner on Christmas Eve?

All Orange County locations are closed 12/23-12/25.

Are you required to show proof of vaccination?

Not at present, though that may change in the future depending on local mandates.

    You guys open for thanksgiving?

All TBC locations will be closed on Thanksgiving.

Where would I find nutritional facts?

The corporate office has nutrition facts.

Do you serve already peeled shrimp?

Shrimp in a bag with sauce are whole and peel-and-eat. If you prefer peeled shrimp, try our golden-fried shrimp basket!

Is it open for dine in?

    Yes.

Are they open for dine in?

yes they are make a call before going to get ahead if there is a line

Ambiance is spectacular - interior is absolutely beautiful and they have amazing attention to details. Restrooms were very clean and nice too. Location is perfect - on Brookhurst in a great Vietnamese plaza off McFadden with tons of other great businesses around as well. Came here on Sunday of Labor Day weekend for dinner with a friend. We conveniently arrived around 430pm, and they surprisingly have Happy Hour on weekends as well. We ordered the Deep-fried salmon bellies, Oxtail tacos, Garlic noodles, Oysters, and later Whole Mussels Skillet all from their Happy Hour menu. We were pretty excited since they looked like really good deals. Salmon bellies, oxtail tacos, and Whole Mussels Skillet were all good. Garlic noodles - bland, needs more seasoning and greens with them such as cilantro and green onions, more cheese - something. Service - a young boy and girl, Mason and another girl helping us were very sweet. And to what made you guys lose 3 stars - "Oyster (Oyster minimum order is 1 dozen) $2" My friend and I thought this was some Happy Hour only special promo, so cool. I asked and they're just raw oysters - honestly they weren't that good, should've been cooked and seasoned in some way. Basically they didn't have to try much for these, besides ensuring they're clean and safe for consumption, but I thought it was a good deal so worth a shot trying. Then I got the bill and was like WTF? And the worse part was the lady's attitude about it, saying how it's common sense (ie you're stupid for not understanding). The obvious right way to write that is "Platter of a Dozen Oysters $24 and $2 for each additional oyster", not "Oyster (minimum a dozen) $2" - WTF, and she acted like I'm the first to call her out on that. Said she can't do anything, it's obvious, but sure she can tell someone to make a note to update the menu and seemed to roll her eyes. Mason, the young server was nice and understanding, but I couldn't stand the basic Vietnamese woman with HEAVY makeup working at the front. My friend I had dinner with found her extremely rude too. Would I come back? Not likely anymore. Would I recommend them? If you're willing to pay for nice ambiance, decent food, but GOD-AWFUL SERVICE, then be my guest. As a Vietnamese person myself, I'm ashamed of people like these for perpetuating the cheapskate Vietnamese stereotype.

If you come during rush or peak hours, it can be pretty difficult to find parking, and you may or may not end up getting stuck behind cars waiting for spots. There's also usually a pretty long waitlist, so be prepared to wait a bit before getting seated. The dim sum is always solid, though! I always go for my favorites: the siu mai, har gow, tripe, and cheung fun. The siu mai is always super juicy and packed, and you can actually see the shrimp throughout. The har gow is also one of my go-tos and is always a solid choice. This time around, we also got the turnip cakes, which were really good. We also always get the har gow, which is very good as well. Other dishes we order, not from carts, include the honey walnut shrimp (very good), the chow fun (pretty good), and the calamari (just alright). The sweet tofu is also very good and a must try when you go. They usually have a pretty long wait, even for small parties, so check in on Yelp when you are close by, it helps a lot. The only reason I would give this place 4-stars instead of 5 is because I feel I've been to dim sum places that have food and service that is just as good, just without the hassle of parking and long wait times. With that said, I'll definitely be back here in the future.

Honey Walnut Shrimp 6/5. Ive been craving for this dish for the longest time and it didn't disappoint. Not bad at all. $15.95 it's cooked the same everywhere so if I can get it for a deal, I'm def down! Got the clams also. This dish was plentiful for a lunch special. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Nothing bad at all. Whole fried fish. Man this dish was tiny!!! The fish was tiny!!! It was tasty due to the sauce, but the fish itself was TINY!!! lol 2/5 stars. Everyone orders this but it's just too small for family style meal. House special fish filet. Yeah this was good but I tasted a lot more batter than the actual fish itself. I think seafood cove 2 cooks this better. 2/5 stars for this also Crap asparagus soup. 2/5 stars Naaaah not worth it. Don't order this lol. Save urself the money. Bland and boring. The service was great. They gave us plastic utensils for the kids. And also cups for the kids (styrofoam cups since the kids are messy and tend to drop things) Overall, it's a bit dirty. Parking sucks hardcore. Food is mediocre. But service is good. When you pay, you get oranges as dessert at the end. Seafood cove 2 is def better and plentiful parking compared to this place.

We placed our order online and it took around 45 mins. We arrived at the restaurant and the cashier helped us right away. We got our order in a brown takeout bag and grabbed a few of their bibs & gloves. The bag definitely felt heavy. They double bagged our order so it would not spill whatsoever. They also gave us a bunch of sliced lemons and two containers of salt & pepper. Let me tell you, these shrimps were BIG. They were very meaty and super flavorful. I adored the seafood boil sauce that it comes in because it had SO much garlic and I really liked how tasty this was. The shrimp absorbed all the flavor, but it did not stop us from dipping it in more of the sauce to make it even more tasty! We even squeezed some of the lemon into the bag as well. It is such a messy meal, but so fun if you're a seafood lover. I think it's worth trying if you have never tried a seafood boil before. This was more of a Vietnamese-Cajun styled seafood boil, so I found it to be even more tastier!

We arrived right when they opened, and the vegetables were vibrant, crisp, and fully stocked. My favorite soup base was the tom yum--it was packed with flavor and had just the right amount of heat and tanginess. I could've happily enjoyed that broth on its own. I also loved that the hot bar wasn't just an afterthought. They had unlimited marinated crab, stir-fried egg noodles, and several other prepared dishes that were actually worth going back for. The grill selection was just as good. The skewers and shrimp were my favorites, and adding a little of the provided butter while grilling made everything taste even better. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating, making it a great option for bigger groups or celebrations. The staff kept an eye on our table, cleared plates quickly, and were always friendly whenever we needed something. Between the fresh ingredients, flavorful broths, and great service, this is definitely a place I'll be returning to.

Folks always talk about how there are certain types of restaurants they avoid. Mostly it's because…read more they don't like the taste of the cuisine. Or maybe they like the cuisine, but for health reasons they've been told to avoid eating it. I know for me I just haven't come around to a lot of Asian cuisines that are focused on high vegetable and low protein content. But to this day Toby and I have never shared a seafood boil together. She has a germaphobe reaction to eating food with her hands and there's no easy way to knife-and-fork stuff like shrimp, crawfish, crab, or lobster. She's offered to get something else like fish n' chips or a plain steak or something, while I get myself a boil. However, one of the joys of boils is digging into a mound of Cajun-flavored seafood together as a group effort. A wondrous temple to the art like Roux Seafood Kitchen would be wasted on her. I couldn't get enough of their shrimp and crawfish. They were both plump, flavorful, and disassembled easy in my hands. At a lb. each, I was more than stuffed at meal's end. I think the only thing that could've made it better is if I had ordered a lobster tail in there. That would've been my ideal order. The service was great here for my party. The drinks were refilled quickly, the food was brought out in an efficient manner, and even the order taking was controlled in what kind of have been haphazard conditions. I liked the ambiance too. The dining room was a spacious and accommodating. The music was low. And the crowds were busy but not super full, which is where I like it. Nobody was on top of each other at neighboring tables and the noise level wasn't drowning. All in all, I think this is the perfect example of a seafood boil joint. The only thing that could've made it better is if my oldest eating buddy (and ex) could've miraculously gotten over her condition and joined me. That's the dream.
