I've gone to so many Boiling Crab locations since I was a kid, but this is my favorite of all time for a number of different reasons. First and foremost, the tables are reasonably spaced out and there's room to walk between them in the restaurant. If I get stuck behind chairs on my way to restroom and my hands are sticky for longer than they need to be, I'm going to end up screaming because that's a sensory nightmare, LMAO. I don't have that issue here because it ain't cramped andddd they even have an accessible ramp for our disabled folks. +10000 points for accessibility!!!!! Secondly, the restaurant plays pretty solid music (like 90s r&b, hehe) and the overall volume is respectable -- not overstimulatingly loud with yelling or speakers blaring like other spots. My friend and I were watching the FIFA World Cup final match between Spain and Argentina here, and were pleased that they had it streaming on every TV. It was different watching the game with music playing over it instead, but I'm not complaining. Okay now for the actual food portion of the review: a lot of people talk about how seafood boils and Boiling Crab's sauce specifically makes their stomach hurt. I'm pleased to announce that this is the only Boiling Crab that doesn't have me fighting for my life after dining here. The flavor is exquisite and seafood portions are just right. Idk what their chef is doing differently at this location, but I sure hope that they never stop doing it. During today's visit, we shared (1) lb shrimp and (1) lb snow crab in whole shabang sauce and mild spice level with sausage, potatoes, and corn. My friend also ordered gumbo and rice (because you gotta have rice). During past visits, I've gotten live crawfish and their crab fries. Love and recommend both! Lastly, the service is always amazing. Memorable servers in the past include David Duong and today's server was Jess. Both went above and beyond to make sure my dining experience was perfect, so I hope they get their roses for their hard work. read more

I'm a big fan of seafood boil. And I've eaten at the boiling crab in the Rowland Heights location. This is my first time in Garden Grove. My kids are regulars at this place. If you don't get there early, you will be waiting for hours in line. Luckily we got there a few minutes after they opened. First off excellent service! From the person in the front to the servers walking around making sure you have enough water or asking if you need anything else this by far is top-notch customer service. I got a pound of shrimp with added potatoes, corn and sausage. The whole shabanng mild it was really good, but I prefer a little bit more spice so next time I'll get the spicier one. My kids like the muscles and devoured them. They have delicious Cajun fries and the chicken tenders were not bad either. The ambience is busy very family friendly. Very nice staff and a quick wait if you join the online Yelp waitlist. Plenty of parking too. Food came out quickly and multiple servers checked on us often. I recommend the crab legs and not actual whole crab like the blue crab. It's definitely a lot of work to peel a whole crab instead of just the legs. I also wouldn't recommend the oysters because they were small and not as fresh as you'd like. Sauce was very tasty and corn was a little overcooked. Plenty of lemons, salt and sauces though. It's been ages since I been here to this location because this place has exploded since with locations which is good for everyone but man this was the joint and have eaten here a ton! Just wanted to shoutout this location. I eat here quite frequently with my siblings and friends and I've never had any, any issue. The workers are always so nice and attentive despite being SO busy - their waitlist is always at least 1.5-2 hrs. My food has not once been wrong and always comes out quickly. The location itself has lots of parking. The restaurant is always bustling but everyone is vibing - There is multiple TVs playing sports games and everybody is just chatting while eating. I always go for the whole shabang sauce, medium and order the extra spicy on the side to dip everything in. You know what else is good here? The gumbo!! We came to this location for the first time. It is smaller than the others but still packed. The wait times range, just like with the other locations. The parking is a bit packed. We ordered the usual. Started off with 2 lbs of the whole shabang medium shrimp, one basket of catfish with medium Cajun fries, corn, potato, boiled egg, rice, and a side of the whole shabang hot sauce. The stuff came out piping hot and was awesome. We ended up ordering another round of shrimp. My only complaint would be on the catfish. Some parts were a bit grayish. Ahhh where to begin! This has got to be one of my fav meals ever. Been coming to this location for quite sometime now because they have never failed us! My husband and I swear that this location has to be the best one. We visited yesterday and our server was Huy, he was very attentive and kind to us! Although we consider ourselves regular customers, Huy still provided great service. One thing about boiling crab is they never fail to satisfy the seafood boil cravings. The flavor is always amazing here. I'm sad I barely found out about their rewards program one of the last times we've went but definitely sign up if you come here often! I honestly didn't know this location existed! Though it's smaller than the other locations, my friends and I were seated within 20 mins on a weekday. I got 1 lb Live Crawfish Medium Whole Sha-bang w/ Sausage Link. I also shared Cajun Fries with the table and they were the right amount of crisp! For the price, I definitely got the amount expected. I came in on a friday night with a few of my girls & luckily we were able to join their yelp waitlist before dinner rush but still waited almost 1 1/2 hours. We ordered a couple pounds of frozen crawfish, shrimp, sausages, corn, & cajun fries which are all always so delicious especially when you get the whole shabang sauce! 1 bag had shrimp poked when given to us so it leaked but once we told our server he quickly fixed the issue. For our seafood, we got mild which is about 4/10 spice & medium which is about 7/10 spice but they have multiple spice levels from non spicy, mild, medium, & xxx(super spicy). I ordered a root beer which has free refills & they have drinks in glass cups now no more plastic cups! I'm assuming our server went on break but didn't notify us so I waited a bit & raised my hand to get noticed by another worker to get a refill as I was out of both my water & soda lol. Great experience overall! We didn't have to wait long, even during dinner hours. The seafood was excellent--I especially loved the live crawfish. Don't bother with the frozen ones; they just don't compare. The difference is night and day. The live crawfish has a chewier texture and a natural sweetness that makes it so much better. The baked catfish basket is a must. Honestly, it's some of the best fried catfish I've ever had. I'd come here just for that alone. I also tried the snow crab legs, but personally, I'd skip them. They were overpriced for the portion size and way too salty--maybe not very fresh. If you love seafood and have not tried The Boiling Crab then you are missing out. I say this because I have always loved seafood and it wasn't until 2 yrs ago that friends recommended me to eat at The Boiling Crab, and I'm so glad I did! My husband is not a big fan of seafood and would pick red meat to eat instead of seafood anytime! But this place made him a lover of shrimp. Its is the only place where he willing will eat shrimp. Their signature sauce (The whole Sha-Bang) is amazing & delicious and we love spicy food so we always get the Medium level for our signature sauce. We usually order shrimp, corn, and potatoes, this time we added sausage. Also we decided to order the King Crab Legs on this visit and white rice. White rice orders are about 1cup serving size so more of an individual size. Its good to know that when you order the king crab legs you can only order 1 lb no 1/2 lb orders are done. The utensil to break open our crab legs were not so great, would have help if they had some grip holders on them, or if they would have supplied us with all the utensils needed, since your gloves get so oily and full of sauce you cannot grip the utensil to break open your crab legs. Yes, it's a very messy experience but so worth it! Recommend to always dine in to get the full experience because they cover up the table with a roll of paper, and that bib and gloves you get, make sure to use them unless you don't mind getting dirty, but I cannot image bringing this kind of feast to eat at home. And the crab crackers will make it messy especially since you don't get the complete tools for example the crab hammer and seafood scissors would have been very helpful if they were provided. Staff overall was great during our visit from the hostess to the waiters friendly, attentive, helpful & knowledgeable of menu. If you come be aware that there will be a wait time to be seated, but you can always use the yelp app to put you on the wait list and check in with hostess when you physically arrive. read more

Service is always quick and the food comes out fast. So flavorful!!! Wait can go up to 1-2 hours but they do have a live waitlist you can join remotely. I always get live crawfish with the WHOLE SHABANG (garlic, lemon, Cajun) and XXX (which is the spiciest level). It definitely burns your mouth so be careful while selecting your spice level. We had an excellent experience here. We joined the waitlist expecting to wait two hours but the wait time was only one hour before we got notified our table was ready. Our waiter was very quick to taking our order and the food came out soon after. We had very specific orders and they did a great job at fulfilling all of them perfectly. The crabby fries were delicious but the crab on top was alright. I ordered the 1lb shrimp bag with rice. The flavor in the actual boil was amazing and contained just the right amount of spice. It did have my nose running a bit which was unexpected but it was absolutely delicious. The chunks of garlic was a nice addition as well. I only had three more shrimps left in the bag before I had to tap out. I usually never get that full but the food was so good I couldn't stop eating everything.
