A hidden gem in Parsippany .. we actually went to their Atlanta location and found about the NJ location. Had been to paraippany area and wanted to surely taste their food . Good location and nice food. lots of space inside to sit and eat . Ambience was ok. Service was very good . We ordered food and picked it up from the restaurant. They were quick and did arrange the food soon. We did order few items .. biryani was just superbbbbbbbb.. even in Atlanta branch biryani was the best . Bai biryani and chicken tikka biryani were just tooooooo good . Spice level was just perfect . Chicken fry dry was the BEST . It went really well with biryani too. Vegetable biryani was ok. Taste was good too but could have been spicier . Chicken Kothu parota was the only thing which wasn't tasting as good as we expected . It wasn't spicy at all and tasted sweet ! Hard to decide how to rate here. Ordered ahead and did takeout. Masala dosas: excellent and large portion, though more expensive than some other plases in the area like Dosa House. But... did not come with sambar. Chutneys for the dosa; good. The tomato one in particular was very flavorful. Inside: very hot (even before the current heatwave, no a/c, but some fans). Hardly anyone there on a weekday lunch. Time for food to arrive: not quick, despite being almost empty. The real issue was the veg thali I got. The dal was tasty, but it was not sealed tightly so it fell apart in the bag. Thali had a tiny bit of sambar (which I gave to the person having the dosa). Rice pudding was good. A few pieces of cauliflower were delicious. Not a fan of the other things given at all (rasam is not enough for lunch; one curry that did not smell worth eating - red pepper based?; boring biryani). Other than the dal that mostly had spilled out, the very best thing here was: malabar parota, which was incredible. So: you can definitely get some very yummy things here: the dosa, the parota, the dal. If you want sambar with your dosa, I think you need to order it separately (& then it is even more expensive than other local places). I would not get the veg thali. Also, probably better to do takeout - but order well in advance because the kitchen might only have 1 or 2 people. read more

First time at Rajni, went in as a big group for breakfast. We were seated right away. Ordered breakfast combos , each combo is served with a choice of Indian tea or coffee. Our favorites were Wada, Pongal and poori with aloo sabzi. Food overall was enjoyed , only feedback was that the chutneys were cold , so it would have been nice to have them in room temperature. Sambhar was delicious. Our server got a bit confused with our order, but it's understandable since we were in a big group, the service was friendly. I have done both Dine-In and Delivery here multiple times, and I have to say that their Delivery experience was way better than the Dine-In. They tend to be super crowded on Weekends, and the service was quite late, so definitely would not going in on an weekend if younare already hungry. Obviously, this problem won't be there in Delivery ‍ Food is above average, edging towards quite good, and considering the slim pickings I have for South Indian cuisine, this is definitely a repeat option for me. read more

I have been a faithful customer since 2012 when they were at their old location. I have the exact same order every time I come and it is so amazing that I dream about the food. Today, however it was so unbelievably disappointing. The tapwater tasted like toilet water. Normally, it's crisp freshwater. Paratha bread was served half cooked. I had to send it back. Instead of the normal basmati style rice that we have received every time we come we were given different rice that does not have a good taste to it. My daughter's mango lassi was warm. The onion potato dosa filling was more like soup consistency. The masala dishes were not as good as they normally are, but they were at least edible. We will not be back. read more

Very poor customer service and lacking professionalism. Dismissive and rude staff, especially Hitesh. I ordered 3 small items for lunch for delivery via grubhub. I received a phone call from Hitesh of Rajni that only 1 item was ordered so the restaurant was confused, he told me to call grubhub and hung up. I wasted time trying to reach grubhub but Hitesh called me back when he realizes his error. When he received the full order he said he has everything except the sweet pan, so he again said for me to call grubhub to get refund, he didn't know how to process refund for unavailable item systemstically. I asked him to please process refund or just substitute something comparable but he didn't want to be bothered, he dumped the problem on me (again). I told him to please send the other 2 items which they had and he agreed. 30 minutes later I get a phone call from grubhub that they canceled my entire order which was obviously done purely maliciously by Hitesh. 2 hours of my time wasted just for a small lunch with dosa, raita, and pan. read more

We went there on 17 and 25 Apr. We waited for 10 minutes to get the table. as usual, like any typical Telugu restaurant, it has too only 2 servers trying to manage 8-10 tables so get used to slow service. in first dining, we ordered Karuveppilai Iral Masala (Prawn), Karimeen Tawa Fry (Pomfret grilled) and chicken fried rice. Pomfret was really amazing. Prawn appetizer and fried rice was not good. Service was slow. if you want quite a place, then this is not the one. in my 2nd dining, we order Indian food this time. again pomfret, mutton sukha, mix vegetables, dal tadka and one kothu paratha. Started were good but lets talk abt sabzi. how can some restaurant cook wrong dal tadka? They serve Authentic South Indian food at reasonable pricing with average service and great ambience. The food is very vegetarian friendly. The restaurant has picked quiet some buzz in North Jersey area for their Thali. Thali is a traditional Indian lunch platter served with rice/roti and a bunch of sides. Rajni offers authentic Tamil thali served on a banana leaf with (a mound of) rice, a roti and a bunch of sides. I had tried their veg thali which comes with dal, sambar - a vegetable lentil soup, korma - a spicy vegetable stew, poriyal - a dry vegetable fry typically made with some grated coconut, kara kozhambu - a spicy and tangy curry, rasam - a thin spicy tomato broth, some veg biryani and a dessert. The thali was of pretty good quality and reminded of food I had in Chennai. This is one of the very few restaurants in New Jersey, that serve Thali and I believe the only serving Tamil styled one. I had visited the restaurant with a big group from work and the place was big enough to accommodate. Along with the thali we tried a bunch of appetizers. The onion pakora and chili bajji were great, kara paniyaram especially was fabulous. The apps were served hot and very tasty. The service could have been definitely improved, it seemed like the place was understaffed at the front of house. Recommendations: Appetizers: Kara Paniyaram, Onion Pakora & Chili bajji Veg Thali Overall, the restaurant is definitely worth trying especially for their Tamil thali. It was really good, crispy and different from the vadas I've tasted before. I also ordered my favorite biryani and it didn't disappoint one bit. At the end of my meal, I ordered mithi paan which is an after dinner treat to help digest your food. It's an acquired taste but I love it. If you are looking for ambiance this is not the place for you. My group had a number of mixed reviews. I enjoyed my meal and the menu prices were very reasonable so you were not paying for ambiance. The portions were good but a couple of guys thought some items were reheated and not made fresh. A few items were oily. I really enjoed the shrimp app and chicken app was good. The fried chillis were nice s well as the califlower app. I had the spicy potato dosa which I liked. It came with a nice assortment of chutneys. Great South Indian food. Ordered idli vada combo, Dhosa, mirchi pakoda, and famous South Indian coffee. Idli was made fresh and it was best idli I have ever had in North America. Each dish was prepared fresh. Plenty of chatnee came with each dish. Sambhar was just as we liked, spicy. At the end of our meal I had best tasting coffee. Service was alright; the staff seemed new, but the staff was courteous and brought food in time. The restaurant is last in a strip mall, so the Ambiance was mellow. Restaurant is in dire need of updates. The seats are ripped, bathrooms are in very bad shape. The service was very subpar even with the restaurant not being very crowded. Food was ok but I'd advise ordering takeout. Even then check your food as we found a large hair in one of our dishes. It was replaced but we were still charged for it. The food is really good here but the service is terrible! It can take anywhere between 45 mins to an hour for food to arrive for 2 people. I ordered the non veg thali and it took 20 mins to arrive and my husband ordered appam and fish and it took an hour! I had long finished my meal when his arrived. We constantly asked the waiter for an update and each time he looked around confused and ran off into the kitchen coming back with no response. I tried coming here the next weekend thinking that maybe they just had an off weekend but unfortunately it was the same story the next weekend. I was skeptical about Indian restaurants in Jersey out of Edison Area, but on a Sunday Family Lunch , the choice was Rajni of Parsippany . What a great Gluttonous choice that turned out to be. Started with the Chicken 65, Dosas , a Black Pepper Chicken Curry (maybe Kozhambum) and 2 Plates of incredible Goat Biryani. Just before we were put on a stretcher into the car , we ordered gulab jamuns and Ras Malai too. So now for the best part : "Malabar Paranthas" fresh , flaky .. best I've ever had .
