We went on New Years Eve for an early dinner around 6pm. Only a few tables were taken but I had made a reservation just in case. They do need to get a few kinks out because service was a little slow. The decor was simple and everything looked clean and new, and everyone was friendly. We did get charged for hot tea which I was surprised by since most restaurants don't charge for that. The sushi was fresh though and tasty. It's not the best sushi place in Rockland, but definitely worth a try. I would go back. read more

Since the new changes of hands a lot has seemed to changed. The previous owners had a family feel. We came because we loved muraski but From the moment you walked it seemed popular and one would assume good food/experience but my experience there is why there is a low rating. The decor is modern minimalist which was different. The waitress Came over in a rush fashion. I asked to seat two even though my fiancee wasn't there yet. The waitress came up to me three times asking when he was coming. Then she came and stated I needed to order or I would have been asked to leave. I ordered the tofu skin. They had asked me what way would I like it. I was confused because I thought tofu skin was served one way ...anyway.... I'll get to the point ... After serval times of leaving it up to them on how it's normally made or what's most popular finally one the sushi chefs came to me and explained what was most popular. I'm excited to announce Raku is now my favorite sushi/sashimi restaurant. There are only a handful of Japanese restaurants that made it on my list worthy of patronizing. Raku tops them all, (and I hope Raku will keep it up). I'm picky where I get my sushi/sashimi. I've tried sushi restaurants around town and had just okay sushi. If I have a craving for sushi, I end up driving to Mitsuwa Japanese market in Edgewater NJ. I finally decided to give Raku a try after passing by it so many times after shopping at the farmers market. I have to say, I'm so glad I gave Raku a try. I ordered their lunch special takeout. $17 for 3 rolls. My selections were tuna roll, spicy crunch tuna roll, eel and avocado roll. Fresh quality fish of nice portions. The tuna chunk was red and big, and so inviting. The rice was slightly warm like how a freshly made sushi should be. The spicy tuna wasn't as spicy as some of the ones I had at other places (so some people may not like it) but I love it. The crunch adds a nice texture and is just right. The avocado was fresh and the eel sauce on the eel is perfectly made. The eel avocado roll just melts in your mouth. So delectable. Next, the telling sign of a good sushi/sashimi restaurant... Even the condiments complimenting the platter are good. The soy sauce was just right (think of ying & yang of salty & sweet). To me, soy sauce makes a difference. You don't want to dip good food in salty sauce. That totally ruins the food and is a waste of money. The wasabi is mixed perfectly. The kick is there and is not overpowering. The aroma lingers after the food goes down. I like that the wasabi is not just for spice, it is to make your whole experience. (Yes I watch Food Network shows a lot.) The ginger is fresh. Not dry or slightly slimy like some places. The ginger is fresh and delicious. I had the same dish twice and can't wait to have another. The server was friendly. read more

Ate here with my best friend last night and we had a wonderful time! The sushi was very tasty and fresh. I accidentally ordered the wrong roll, and they were very nice about it and got us the right one very quickly (to be fair amazing tuna roll and crazy tuna roll sound very similar but I also could have been more careful). The shumai were also FANTASTIC. Tom, the owner or manager was amazingly friendly and funny and made sure we had the best time. Can't wait to come back! read more

Raku is a great, fresh sushi spot right in the heart of Nyack. I visit this establishment frequently, and almost always get some of the staples: Crispy rice with tuna (exceptional, one of the best I've had), rock shrimp with spicy Mayo (really really tasty, smallish potion beware), and yellowtail scallion roll (fresh tasting). Some other highlights: cocktails are all good and not too expensive, the Tropical roll is my favorite of the complex rolls, and it's a great vibe indoors and out. read more

we were very happy to have come here. Never having been, we weren't sure what to expect. Covid regulations were well followed with indoor tables being far apart. My husband and I have gone here a few times after working out with a trainer at the training place a couple blocks up Main street. We both felt welcomed and thought the food was yummy. My husband liked the beef negamaki and the spicy tuna roll. I loved the chicken yakitori a lot, super tender with a sweet-ish thick-ish brown sauce. Service was fast and great. The chicken teriyaki is good too-- excellent quality chicken, all white meats, tender, no bad bites. We are glad Raku opened up here and plan to go lots. read more
