I'm not certain why this place has such a bad Yelp score. I stopped in with a friend the other day to pick up a few breakfast items and it was fine. Not the biggest, not the nicest, but perfectly serviceable. No real complaints. People were plenty nice, and we were in and out in about five minutes. read more

I hate this supermarket. The parking situation is so BAD it makes your blood boil. To further exacerbate the situation, the entrance/exit on Beverly really isn't enough for two cars, so when someone is trying to leave and another person is trying to get in, you end up with five minutes of uncertain back and forth head turns before someone leaves, creating more traffic on Beverly. The checkers move at a painfully slow pace with no sense of urgency. On top of all of that, they manage to manhandle my groceries and put my eggs at the bottom of the bag for further punishment. The only redeeming aspect of this location is self check out in which you don't have to deal with anyone else. Use it when you've got a few items and you need to zip in and out. Only come to this location if you REALLY need something. read more

There's an abundance of crappy grocery stores in my neighborhood. I feel like Goldilocks. One's too big (Albertson's). One has too many homeless people looking for money (Vons). One is always too busy and the parking lot is a nightmare (Trader Joe's). Another is a combination of all these things (Ralph's)... and SEVERAL are too expensive (Bristol Farms, Gelson's and Whole Paycheck). Today really needed milk, meat, peanut butter and a few other choice items. I decided to brave it at Ralph's on Beverly. I was really glad I got a street parking spot because the neighborhood's elderly were out in full force today around 3pm. I climbed the stairs and saw a backup that was at LEAST 4 or 5 cars all creeping around the lot. Once inside, the aisles looked clear. Little did I know everyone was swarming the free coffee tasting table back near the fish counter. I saw a Jake Gyllenhall lookalike near the cheese, which made the experience a little nicer... and then I hurried around looking for the cottage cheese and peanut butter. Easy to find and aisles laid out in a sensible manner. I did have to dodge an elderly couple who were hovering around the toilet paper, but no worry. They never even knew I was there. It was time to check out the meat offerings. The fish man wasn't there so I had to ring the bell. Service was snappy and I got some salmon for a fraction of what Whole Foods charges. I didn't notice if it was farmed or not but lately I haven't been picky about where it comes from. It looked like salmon. I hope it tastes like salmon. It was time to check out. I waited patiently behind an elderly woman and a younger woman who was helping her. Then... another line opened! I was next!! My turn!! I had to literally elbow my way around a woman whose face was so taut she embodied the "Plastics" from MEAN GIRLS. I was next. That first slot at the new line was MINE! I unpacked the goods from my reusable bag, swiped my card, repacked the bag and was out in seconds. No eye contact was made with Ms. Plasticface. In all, this isn't a bad store. It's just that strange and or slow people shop there. And the prices aren't that good. And it's tough to get to and there isn't always parking. So it's really 2 and a half stars, and I have yet to find a quality grocery store where I feel like I'm getting what I pay for. read more

A messy , crowded store and you have to pay 10 to 15 cents per bag. I thought it was a Santa Monica thing but nope it's any city not part of LA. This store is really small and has a limited selection of items. They are ALWAYS out of certain items I need and they overcramp the isles with promotional displays so that you can't navigate your cart. However the worst overall aspect of this store is that the deli service employees are slow and rude and couldn't care less if a customer is standing waiting. They ignore you until they feel like they're ready to serve you. I've complained about their service several times and it never seems to get better. Only impressive thing about this ralphs was the way items were stocked and displayed. I felt like it was kind of racist .... either they are super friendly or racist because soon as I went in 3 employees asked me if i need help with anything.. kind if felt like they were following us around. Never had this feeling before maybe Im paranoid?! i don't think I look sketchy or anything.. anyway so I wanted to get soda Manzanita sol, its apple soda every Ralph's has it in their soda section. Its from Pepsi. Well they had no clue what it was... as a joke i said omg it will be funny if they don't carry grape soda. And they did not. Not even pineapple or nothing. I just like fruity sodas and i think they had orange fanta only. It was weird experience I can't really explain it.. but really weird. Wanted to have an orchid wrapped but no one was there. Customer service was horrible and the guy who packed my bags forgot to put the cake that I bought in my cart. Sometimes you just need some stamps and a box of lucky charms....Otherwise this ain't my favorite grocery store, let alone my favorite Ralph's. Its not a big store, thus the selection is slim. Small store with rude employees. I used to work at Ralphs.... I get It! At least be rude in the back, not while you're on the floor. I stop every morning at different Ralph's and for the most part, they're cheerful and greeting people. This one is neither one of those things. I don't know if it's because they are remodeling or if the quality has just gone down the drain, the produce section was pretty sad looking, and the little that was on the shelf like the kale and the green leaf lettuce seemed like it was just there and left overs and just looked old, yes it may be more expensive to shop at Gelsons which i normally do, but at least Im guaranteed that whenever i walk-in I can shop with the confidence of knowing i am buying fresh stuff :( read more

Since Covid, this store has gone to awful. It is not clean, the people who work there have horrible attitudes, there is no customer service, The deli is closed in the evenings. No one is available to help. The cashier's offer no assistance and are very rude. The produce I brought home was rotten in the center when I cut into apples & celery, the blueberries looked okay through the plastic but when I got home there was mold. The cleaning supplies shelves have been empty since february. I purchased fresh caught salmon (which their fish dept said caught fresh) when we cooked it, it remained a grey color and had white pockets/spots on it, the fish smell was awful. We added fresh garlic also purchased at Ralph's, that turned blue while cooking. This is my second attempt to continue business with them and will be my last. This is a horrible store read more

This Ralph's is understocked and understaffed. They were out of half the items my family wanted. Seems like no one really cares. There were two lines open. One fifteen items or under and another regular one. We had the sweetest cashier Sarah but it took forever because she had to bag our groceries as well. Both my wife and I felt horrible for her. It's honestly the worst grocery store I've ever shopped at. The Deli staff is extremely lazy and rude and always has been. The hot coffee is always out and if you tell the Deli staff they'll look at you like you're crazy. I don't even bother anymore, I just skip Ralph's and go to Bristol Farms for coffee. The doorway to get into the place is the tiniest little door, it's super odd. Every time you come in and out you are accosted by someone asking for money - they don't bother to ask them to leave. The prices are definitely high. They raised the prices on alcohol - pavilions is about $2 cheaper on most wines and spirits. It's just a train wreck. I can tell that they attempt to work on customer service every 6 months but it's not gonna change until you get rid of that horrible deli staff. The last time I went, they didn't have uncooked italian sausage and those spicy yellow peppers. I think those are pretty basic grocery store items, no? If you are looking for any sort of delicacy, go elsewhere. For basic fruits, meats and etc, its there in small quantities. Plus things are over priced for what they are. IMPORTANT to note: The store is NOT 24hrs anymore (found out the hard way). The current hours are 6am-2am The more positive reviews are true--the store is "okay," it has most things, but it is indeed tiny, the wider aisles are usually cluttered and there is barely room for two carts to fit side-by-side in an aisle, product selection is not that large nor that great (organic produce section is about 3ft and the bakery is to be avoided), and most likely check out will take some time, and some of the store organization does not make sense (pungent scented candles right by the produce), but they do have most staples on hand. Customer service used to be better when, I believe, Cynthia(?), was the GM three years ago, but since, there's been 3+ GMs and leadership is rather lacking. Most cashiers tend to be slurly, one guy at the service counter is just down right rude and scary (and I've seen handle food without gloves) and I've witnessed the fish/meat guy actually sneeze on products that was in the display case and when I pointed that out, he just shrugged. Yes, gross. And the tiny parking lot--avoid, avoid. You're better off just parking on the street. My neighbor was in the parking lot last month and a car just ripped right through and totaled her car. If you catch the right crew (employees) at the right time of day/night, it is possible to have a completely pleasant total shopping experience where you are also able to get in and out quickly. But, it is a bit like a crap shoot to hope to get that fulfilling experience. read more

If anyone from Von's/Pavillion's is reading this... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE hurry up the construction on the Pavillion's location on Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood! Shopping at the Ralph's on Beverly and Doheny for 9 months now has taken it's toll. I rarely grocery shop, and when I HAVE to, I usually just get the essentials at Longs Drug on Beverly and La Cienega just to AVOID going to this store. It's just awful. I personally have seen approximately 3 near assaults over parking, and almost attempted suicide twice because of the other shoppers that go here. STAY AWAY. It's an ordinary supermarket. Except less of a selection of a lot of items. At many times, they were missing some cereals, some cleaning stuff. I always wonder if they intentionally limit the items for this Ralph's compared to others. A sandwich takes FOREVER to make. They have one person back there and they take their sweet ass time to make anything. It almost feel intentionally delayed. They go in the back multiple times for getting things to make the sandwiches instead of trying to grab multiple things at once. They don't have the menu memorized so they have to take extra time to read the menu a few times to get it right. If there's 3 people on the line, you could really wait 15-20 minutes from the moment you stand there until the moment you get the sandwich. Even if you wanted to order, walk away to grab your groceries and come back later, ordering will take you awhile because the person has to take the people in front of you first. Elena in the floral department is amazing!!! She saved the day... I needed some roses that were green and I had called all around and no one had any and she went in the back and not only did she find one dozen, she found a second dozen of green roses. I'm a man so I didn't really know I needed other stuff and she took her time and made recommendation so to help make a bouquet of flowers. She then fountd me the perfect vase to compliment the color of the flowers... I was very impressed with how creative she was and she designed it right there in front of me. She did a great listening to me and incorporating my suggestions. She is a life saver and she deserves to be recognized. She could have just sold me the 1 dozen roses I asked for but she went above and beyond and createn a treasure chest of golden memories that my baby will always remember. I live 2 blocks from this place but would drive 20 miles to another store before walking to this one. DON'T GO HERE IF YOU AREN'T IN YOUR MOST MELLOW MOOD. The only bonus to living 2 blocks is I can walk there. This in it self helps make it a little less shitty. Once you are inside the chaos begins. I picture it like this- the carts should have seats with steering like bumper cars added. It is pretty much like that getting around the place. Overpriced and makes you want to punch an old lady sometimes(seriously there is one old lady there that is notorious for trying to cut in line and ramming your heels with her cart, ask around I have met others that have ran into her, she does exist).
