LOVE this place when we visit Kapolei. The restaurant is in the same parking lot as Foodland, so parking can be hard to find at peak times. Our usual must-gets: 1. 1-2 item combos which come with a small udon or ramen (it's not that small), and a choice of chicken katsu, curry rice, pork fried rice, fish katsu, and much more). 2. Beef Gyudon with rice 3. Fish katsu curry. Portions are big and food is delicious. If you come 2-5, they have a happy hour with free order if gyoza. On a Tuesday for dinner around 5:30, we were the first ones there and then the restaurant filled up by 6. Service is attentive and they brought out our food quickly. They also do a lot of take-out orders.

Stopped by for a quick lunch during work. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived, so there was no wait, which was nice for a short break. The food was just okay but the prices seemed fair for the quality. The service was good and the staff were friendly. Overall, it's a decent spot if you're looking for a quick and casual meal.

Setup like a common ramen shop, tables to accommodate parties of 4-6. Tantan ramen was hearty with bits of bamboo, 1/2 an egg & a few pieces of char siu. 4 pieces of fried mandoo were given as part of their happy hour special. Water refilled promptly. We weren't rushed to eat either.

I remember this spot having good ramen the last time I was here but that was 5 years ago! Maybe they were having an off day but the broth didn't have enough umami for the tonkotsu ramen. Gyoza and fried rice also lacked the umami flavor. There's potential but something was off here. Service was good and quick. However, I'll stick to my normal spot from now on.

We love a quick, tasty hearty meal & Ramen Bones is definitely that! Good food, quick service, soothing food and reasonable prices. Food portion is huge! I always order keiki (kids meal) and even that is a lot. We love their kimchi! I wish I could purchase it by the bottle it's so yummy! This will always be one of our go to places.

Never again. My 5 year old found this maggot swimming in their soy sauce bottle after we've eaten our food. Disgusting. Then they have the audacity to say they'll take off one item off as a discount. What in the actual world. I literally end up walking out. If you like these type of things served with your food, this is the place to be!

Tonkatsu Ramen ($14.95): good broth, not too thick.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE You could do far worse for ramen; this is a pretty solid bet if you've got a hankering for ramen and you're in the area! Note: there is no reiki menu here. === 2. FOOD Miso Ramen ($13.75) I shared this with my little guy and it was tasty without being too salty! Tonkatsu Ramen ($14.95) The broth was good; not super thick, but good enough to pass this taste test! Mochiko Chicken ($7.25) This side order included 6 pieces of tender chicken - yum! Mini 2 Combo ($16.25) We liked this one for value: tonkatsu ramen plus mini pork fried rice (yum!) an four pieces of gyoza - also yum! Fried Pork Chop Rice Plate ($18.45) Big portions - a little room much pork for me lol I asked for it to be served on pork fried rice and it was good. === 3. SERVICE Overall I suppose it's good - the first day we came in the service was reasonable - seated quickly, everything worked out well. The second day had slower service - perhaps there was only one cook working that day? It took a long time (23 mins for one dish). I conversed with the staff in English, but it sounds like they speak to each other in Mandarin - which could help those who speak it! === 4. ENVIRONMENT Interesting place - medium-dark wood theme, but it's clean and bright and comfortable for us to dine in. Wheelchairs and strollers may best be stationed at the front of the restaurant. Parking is in the ever-busy shopping complex lot out front!

The oxtail ramen was delicious. I was very impressed with the oxtail because it was so soft and tender. Sometimes when I order oxtail at restaurants it's not cooked enough but their oxtail was perfect. The ramen was nice and chewy and the broth with the ginger was so flavorful. It was raining and windy so the meal was perfect for this weather.

Shrimp 'tempura' - skip this. Very heavy, crunchy batter.
    Andrea A.

Our 'second chance' visit did improve our opinion, so it does matter what you order here. Gyozas still excellent. Shrimp tempura horrible (NOT a tempura batter - heavy, crunchy deep fry). The spicy beef ramen was the best ramen we'd tried here by far - actually spicy, good chew on noodles, lots of veggies (though note, no broccoli, it does not look like their pic of it). The kimchi was good. And the Japanese curry pork cutlet was absolutely huge, and tasty. $54 pre-tip lunch for family of four.

Realistically between a 3.5 - 4 star rating, depending on your preference, Ramen Bones is an incredibly fast serving ramen, udon, and rice dish restaurant that is more local flavor ramen than it is 100% authentic Japanese noodle shop. We showed up at 5:30 on a Sunday and were the first to sit for dinner rush. Ramen Bones is small inside and filled up with a small line within 30mins. It's no surprise why. We had a 4 gyoza plate come out within just a couple minutes of ordering. It was no fluke - a keiki ramen, tan tan ramen, ox tail soup, and curry katsu followed within 4-8 minutes. Our superhuman kitchen staff didn't skimp on the flavor either. Each dish was very flavorful, bordering on the saltier side of the spectrum but not excessively so. The flavors definitely won't be mistaken for the work of a 30yr Tokyo veteran but is rather good in its own regard - a different, translated, punched-up comfort version of a ramen shop.

Service is very quick and friendly. The restaurant itself is small, but it's meant for a quick ramen meal so it's fitting. The food is good and everything came out steaming! Definitely a good quick go to for some ramen.

    Cute little to go bag.

Ramen Bones is a whole vibe!! We did take order, although it was a busy lunch time, it felt like they were pretty quick. Food was delicious and definitely will come back. 10/10 highly recommend

They have the red pickle that other places stopped serving!

Not sure what happened here.. The service is still fast and friendly, but the food tasted different from the last few times we've dined in. I hope today was an off day! First thing I need to comment on is the Tonkotsu Ramen. That bowl was hella salty :( and the more I ate and mixed it up, the worse it got. I had to stop eating after a while cuz it just wasn't tasting right. Behind the salt, the flavor was okay at best.. this bowl was served with 3pc chashu, bamboo shoots, kamaboko, nori, green onions, and a half boiled egg. Since we dined in between 2-5pm, this regular sized bowl of ramen came with free gyoza (4pc). Unfortunately, the gyoza was leaking so much oil, it was like mush and fell apart once I grabbed it. My wife ordered her usual Miso Ramen Combo. This set comes with 4pc gyoza and is disqualified from the free ones during happy hour. Her miso broth was still good, but the fried rice was drenched in oil and to me, it was pretty unappetizing and had a weird flavor because of the oiliness. (Note: I usually love this fried rice) She ordered her gyoza deep fried and it was fried well... I should've done that, but oh well. With that said, I'm sure we'll still give Ramen Bones another visit or two... just hope things go back to normal and their chef gets the oil thing under control. **Fingers crossed!**

WRONG order given. Supposed to be BLACK garlic.
