    Udon place located inside Mitsuwa Market Food Court. It was lunch time and the short line moved quickly, well prepared for the lunch crowd! They had a lot of different Tempura pieces to grab in addition to ordering your plate. Very tempting while you waited! I ordered the Chicken Katsu and Curry plate. I grabbed a few pieces of Sweet Potato Tempura. Chicken Katsu was good, not amazing. Curry was excellent, nicely spiced, carrots for texture, and a little bit of a kick! Served on rice. Tempura was very good! Service was fast and friendly. There are plenty of tables to dine, shared with the other places in the foot court. There was plenty of easy parking but I would guess weekends may get busy. It's on the backside of the Del Amo Mall.

    AMBIENCE: (5/5) - I love myself a food court in a supermarket or mall, something about it just brings me back to my childhood. And I also love that you can get a bit of everything from different places - Very clean - Plenty of tables/chairs & things are cleaned up right away, no dirty dishes taking up tables - Like that they have an outdoor area with shade SERVICE: (5/5) - Line moves very quickly - Everyone was polite overall FOOD/DRINKS: (3/5) - Kake Udon #1 (3/5): The soup base was very good, mild and not too salty but can be a little one-note. Needed something to spice it up a bit. The udon was overcooked just slightly. Overall though great deal for the ~$5. Filled me up and did the job. - Sweet Potato & Squash Tempura (4/5): Nice layer of breading although it tasted just a bit too oily when I first bite into them. OVERVIEW: (5/5) - Good stop to grab some food after grocery shopping. It won't be the best udon you can get but its low cost and convenience makes up for it.

    The food court at Mitsuwa is one of my favorite. Mugimaru is one of my favorite spots at my favorite food court because of their yakitori and tempura offerings. It can be a four-star restaurant for me if I'm lucky enough to get my meats and tempuras freshly prepared; however, it is often a three-star experience for me when the foods have been sitting around. Nevertheless, I really love being able to have yakitori skewers here and you can sometimes get the smokey charcoal flavor when they're freshly prepared. If you want to get full, make sure you get a side of white rice at the cashier and you can get your fill for your lunch. This place also sells Japanese curry and Udon; however, I haven't really tried these items from here. Overall, I really like coming here; but whether or not my experience is three or four stars depends on how freshly prepared the food offerings are.

    Udon and tempura inside of the Mitsuwa market that's part of the Del Amo plaza. This is my go to udon spot. Very satisfying, casual, and comfortable. Prices are on the lower end. Service has always been really good. You just tuck your tray and plates into the window for them to clean afterwards. The beef udon is so good - broth is really nice and beef is cooked just right. I've found that marugame (the other udon place) overcooks their beef and there's a clear difference so I really appreciate that. The noodles are chewy and absorb the broth well. Sometimes maybe slightly overcooked but not enough for me to not enjoy. Eggplant and shrimp tempura are my favorite.

    Stopped by Mugimaru + Toritetsu inside Mitsuwa Marketplace for some Japanese food court classics. We got the Spicy Tonkotsu Udon, Beef Udon, Chicken Katsu Curry, a bunch of tempura, and some yakitori. The Spicy Tonkotsu Udon was definitely the highlight for me -- solid flavor and a good kick. Tempura was really well done, crispy but not greasy, and the yakitori didn't disappoint, especially the chicken meatball and chicken skin skewers. The Chicken Katsu Curry was filling and hit the spot, nothing over the top but solid. Overall, it's quick, affordable, and just an easy spot if you're in the area and want a variety of Japanese comfort foods without any fuss.

    Specializing in Udon and Yakatori, Mugimaru (located in the Mitsuwa Japanese grocery in Torrance, CA) serves up good bowls of udon for a great value. We arrived in the food court of Mitsuwa around 7 pm on a Thursday night, and many of the stalls were already closed. Mugimaru was still open (though it closed soon after 7:30), so we got meals for the three of us. It is cafeteria style, where you get in line and choose from overhead menus. The yakatori and tempura are available to grab while walking through the line, and the udon bowls are prepared while in line. Thus by the time we sat down in the food hall, we were ready to eat and didn't need to wait for anything. Large Beef Curry Udon ($11.20) - a very filling meal, with plenty of thick udon noodles swimming in a light Japanese curry sauce. It was topped with thin slices of beef (the kind used in sukiyaki), green onions, and panko. It's a good sauce, and would go well with rice dishes as well. Regular Ontama Udon ($7.95) - classic bowl of japanese noodles, using a simple dashi broth and inclusion of a poached egg. Mini Sukiyaki Don ($5.45) - rice bowl, topped with thin slices of grilled marinated beef. Yakatori - I grabbed a tsukune (chicken meatball skewer for $2.35) and a chicken tempura ($2.25). Both tasted as expected, a bit greasy and lukewarm since they had been sitting out to be chosen for a bit. Salmon Onigiri ($1.99) - got two of these, and it's an easy way to include rice in your meal. They did use the typical onigiri plastic wrap, but I don't think it was assembled correctly, requiring me to unwrap the whole thing before it could be eaten. They sell bottles of soda ($2.40). If you sign up for their email club, the first order is 20% off which my daughter took advantage of.

    I was craving a rice dish and the chicken katsudon seemed very intriguing. Chicken katsu, rice, egg, and onion - so good! However, it gave me an immediate stomach ache. Very sad because i actually enjoyed my meal since it was so tasty, but I was uncomfortable walking around the mall and eventually had to go home. Sad face. They also have different tempura sides sitting under heat lamps - the shrimp tempura was decent. Located inside the Mitsuwa market. You order your food and it's ready within 10 mins or so. Good while it lasted, but unfortunately will not go back.

    This is a solid place to grab food after shopping at the mall or before looking at all the goods at Mitsuwa. I got the tan tan udon for myself and although it was strong in flavor and pretty salty, it was so addicting that I could not stop sipping the broth. I feel like it needed more noodles or less salt because the balance was a bit off. If you're not feeling noodles though, they also have rice dishes such as shrimp tempura or cheese chicken katsu don which is what my brothers got. You choose your items first and they assemble the udon right in front of you so that you can also grab some tempura on the way to the register. All the other dishes, however, you pick up later when the buzzer rings. The service is pretty quick and efficient and there's a big seating area shared with other businesses both indoors and outdoors so it's usually not a problem.

    The tempuras were pricey for one it's like 2.45. The "yakitori" was priced well. The yakitori was missing that umami yakitori taste and some of the skewers were ok tasting. Not bad but not great. Cashier was great and polite.

    This place is located in the food court, inside mitsuwa grocery store. This place always has a long line so I was eager to check this place out! I got their udon and skewers and squash tempura. Their squash tempura was probably the best item. Udon just tasted like it was out of a premade package. The soup was not hot at all. None of their foods were hot actually. Can't say you're going to get fresh, hot foods from here but I guess it's fast and convenient

At around $20, I wasn't expecting cheap fast food, but I was expecting something that justified the price. The tempura was easily the highlight of the meal. It was light, crispy, and fried well, especially paired with the dipping sauce. If there's one reason I'd give this place any credit, it's the tempura sauce. The chicken tempura, however, was a different story. The coating was crispy, but the chicken itself was incredibly bland. It tasted like plain boiled chicken that happened to get dipped in tempura batter. The beef bowl was even more disappointing. Honestly, it reminded me of a Yoshinoya beef bowl--except it cost more than twice as much and came with a noticeably smaller portion. That's a comparison I never expected to make at a restaurant with this kind of reputation. The service didn't do much to elevate the experience either. Considering how slow it was during lunch, I expected a little more attentiveness, but it felt pretty average from start to finish. As for the atmosphere...it was fine. Nothing particularly memorable, nothing that made me think, "I need to come back." Maybe I ordered the wrong items. That's always possible. But based on this visit, I just don't understand the hype. The food was decent--not terrible--but nowhere near worth the long waits, the price, or the reputation it seems to have built. If you happen to be nearby and there's no line, sure, give it a try. But if you're planning to wait an hour because everyone says it's a must-visit, I honestly think you can skip it and won't feel like you missed out. Buyer please be aware.

The absolute worst part was her handling of my Service Dog. As someone who legally requires a service animal, I had my dog right next to me. Without even asking if it was a registered service animal, IYA rudely and aggressively demanded that I put the dog on the floor. Her complete lack of education, empathy, and legal understanding regarding service animals is deeply concerning and discriminatory. If you work in hospitality, basic manners and knowledge of service animal regulations are mandatory. IYA was incredibly rude, ignorant, and unprofessional. We will NEVER step foot in this place again. Management needs to seriously retrain or re-evaluate this server.

The chefs are visible. The staff is plentiful. The music is good. The atmosphere feels like the kind of place that understands hospitality. Unfortunately, the experience never quite came together. The first challenge was the temperature. The dining room felt more like a sauna than a restaurant. To his credit, our server Arthur worked hard to help and eventually got management to increase the air conditioning. He was easily the standout of the evening and did everything he could to salvage the experience. We ordered extensively, including the $130 Ise Course. Some of it was quite good. Some of it was surprisingly disappointing. The grilled lobster with yuzu miso and kinome was completely overcooked, dry and buried under too much sauce. One of the signature dishes of the course ended up being one of the weakest. The grilled yellowtail suffered from the same problem: dry, overcooked and lacking the care you would expect from a restaurant presenting a seasonal multi course menu at this price point. The larger issue was organization. Dishes constantly arrived with servers asking, "Who ordered this?" or "Who has the udon?" The dining room felt strangely disconnected from the kitchen. Food runners seemed unsure where dishes belonged, which created confusion throughout the meal. Then things really went sideways. Trying to be respectful, I asked that my parents be served first. Everyone eventually received their meals and continued eating. The problem was that my Ise Course never arrived in sequence. My family finished their meals. My children finished. My parents finished. My sister finished. And on my birthday, I sat there alone waiting for several missing courses while everyone else watched. A seasonal set menu is supposed to feel paced and intentional. Instead, it felt forgotten. Arthur again stepped in and spoke with management. The restaurant offered complimentary desserts, which was appreciated, although somewhat awkward because my meal was still arriving while everyone else was already moving on to dessert. What happened next genuinely surprised me. When the bill arrived, management returned and asked whether we would be willing to authorize an additional charge so gratuity could be increased from 18% to 20% because of the size of the party. After the heat, the delays, the confusion, the overcooked centerpiece dishes, the missed pacing and spending a birthday meal eating alone after everyone else had finished, it felt like the wrong conversation to be having. I don't enjoy writing reviews like this because there is clearly talent in the building and Arthur deserves recognition for how hard he worked. But hospitality is ultimately about making people feel cared for. On this visit, despite a beautiful room and some good food, that never happened.
