Pretty good Ramen noodle restaurant in Boca Raton that is getting pretty popular these days and parking can be challenging. I do love ramen noodle restaurants and particularly like the ones in NYC and San Fran, but this is about as good as it gets in Boca. Overall the service, food, and prices are pretty good. Ramen Lab Eater (RLE) has been on my list of eateries to try for a while, and finally spent a lunch break having some of their fare. Never been the biggest fan of ramen dishes, but what I had there was tasty, satisfying, and will be returning to enjoy more of their menu. RLE is situated in Mizner Plaza -- right across from Mizner Park in downtown Boca. While there is parking available in the lot, if you have to park on the street, you shouldn't have to walk long to reach the corner space located on the west side of the strip mall. Comprising both a small inside area and an outdoor patio, RLE seems to be quite the bustling place for business with most of the tables occupied, as well the inside bar counter area -- a good sign before I ordered. Service was fast, expedient, and very helpful. The staff who took my order, served, and assisted were very friendly -- especially, when I accidentally dropped my company badge and picked it up to hand back before I could lean down to do so myself. Definitely good vibes at this place for sure. Ordering the Ramen Tonkotsu and pork gyoza, I enjoyed both ravenously -- I was hungry. The ramen contained pork belly, which was magical, and the noodles with the pork broth were deeply satisfying. Gyoza, you can't really screw up, as most restaurants serves this... but RLE serves it really well and fresh, covered in sweet ginger sauce and sparse greens. They have different varieties for the gyoza that I will have to try in future trips, as well as the bao buns. Plus, I didn't realize until after the fact of the condiment table if you want to add spices, etc. Being that I hadn't had their cuisine before, let alone their ramen, I really wanted to see how it was without any add-ons, and it was goooooooooood. Full disclaimer: I've been spoiled. I've had some of the best ramen in places like LA, NY, and of course my now home Boston. That coupled with the fact that I know the quality of food this city has to offer, I wouldn't feel right giving any benefit of doubt. It's been quite a long time since I've been this pumped up to try a new restaurant. The Boca food scene is not at all foreign to me. This city has a special place in my heart. You know what else has a special place in my heart? Ramen! When done right, one of the most satisfying things your taste buds will encounter. Ramen is not exactly prevalent in South Florida(understatement), so when I hear there's a new spot in Boca doing just this, I'm all over it! Ramen Lab Eatery sits on prime real estate, dead center of Mizner and downtown. I actually remember the sushi restaurant which preceded it. First impressions: Authentic Japanese greeting? Well sort of....some of the staff decided to go English, but I'll count the effort! Beautiful interior, bright and modern. Plenty of seating especially when you consider the outdoor patio. The open kitchen concept is an absolute must for the authentic ramen feel, so there's another check mark. Down to the nitty gritty, the food! Pork belly bao: are you kidding me? I was not at all expecting this bun to be this good! The pork itself offers plenty of fat(trust me, you want the fat) and is bursting with flavor. The bun is perfectly steamed. Dare I say it....my best bao to date! Miso Ramen: I chose to go with the short rib option. The bowl itself is beautifully plated, a hearty portion size. The toppings are plentiful: Corn, mushroom, hard boiled egg, short rib, scallion, and bamboo shoot. Every single one of these are absolutely on point! Where the dish falls short are with two of the most important ingredients, the noodles and the broth. (I apologize but this might get a little technical.) The noodles are way too thin, and offer not much chew, almost resembling packaged ramen. Of course I'm sure this is way better quality than packaged, but it's certainly not hand made. And the broth? Just a little flat. A good broth offers depth of flavor. With that being said, the chili oil which comes as a condiment completely transforms the broth and I would highly recommend! If you made it this far into the review, more power to you! I know it was a long one. Ramen Lab is certainly worth a visit, especially for the buns, but there are a few flaws that can't be overlooked that keeps this from being world class ramen. I'll gladly check in in the near future. Side note: shout out to the super friendly and helpful staff. I've eaten at Ramen Lab Eatery twice, and both times have not disappointed me. This is a great place for some Japanese comfort food. Ramen Lab is located just outside of Mizner Park, in the plaza with the USPS store. They have their own private lot, and there is a parking attendant who makes sure that everyone who parks their car there is going to the businesses of that plaza. If he sees you walk off the premises, he will yell at you (and threaten to tow your car). When I ate at Ramen Lab with Emily T. and her son, we wanted to walk across the street to take a picture in front of the giant Christmas tree. We couldn't go because the attendant yelled at us. Regardless, there is plenty of parking, and even more along the street and in the supplemental lot. I ordered the appetizer of Pork Gyoza. They're pretty standard dumplings, it's a good appetizer to share. I've had the Shoyu Ramen and the Tonkotsu Ramen, and both are served in hearty bowls and both are delicious. I like the Shoyu slightly more because the broth isn't as heavy, but both deliver in flavor. You can choose your protein to go in the ramen. I love the soft boiled egg in it, which you can buy more to go in your bowl. I got Korean Short Ribs in the Shoyu Ramen, which has a chicken broth, soy sauce, soft boiled egg, bamboo shoot, scallion, kikurage mushroom, and nori. The short ribs are tender and juicy, especially when it sits in the broth. The Ramen Tonkotsu has pork broth, ohashu pork belly, soft boiled egg, scallion, bamboo shoot, kikurage mushroom and nori. The restaurant is kind of small, considering how popular the food is. It's always busy when I go, which is a good sign. They have some 4-tops, high top tables, seats along the counter, and there is a back patio area. It is fast casual food service; you order and pay at the register, and your food is sent to your table once its ready. The wait has never been more than 10 minutes. I was so pleasantly surprised by the amazing food we had at Ramen lab. We started off with the mushroom bau bun. It's was so delicious!! I had vegetarian miso ramen. The soup was just what I was imagining. So full of flavor and comforting. My husband had the salmon teriyaki. The salmon was cooked to his perfection. The glaze and mushrooms were incredible!! I live in Fort Lauderdale, but I'd gladly drive the 35 minutes for these dishes again. We need a Ramen Lab in East Fort Lauderdale!!! The service in this small but trendy restaurant was top notch. WOWZERS!!! Coming from Sunrise we couldn't decide what to eat and I remembered I had saved this place on Yelp! Since we were near by we decided to grab a bite to eat. The place on the outside doesn't look like much, they have a couple tables in front, on the side and inside. The cashier in front was super helpful and polite. Ok so enough of that on to the food! We ordered the chicken baos because my hubby and I LOVE Baos! And having the best Baos in NY (bao haus) these came pretty close to favorite! The chicken is fried perfectly and seasoned for the Gods! My only complaint would be sharing with the hubs and not having my own. So order 2 if u don't want to share. We then ordered the bbq short rib ramen with extra broth and noodles. This is now our 3rd visit in 6 weeks!! Dan, who took our order stirred us in the right direction with the mushroom bao bun appetizer. These small buns are loaded with a celebration to your taste buds. The soft bun for led with different mushrooms cooked in different ways paired with the pickled veggies then loaded with scallions and seasoning are dynamite!!! I chose the Shoyu ramen soup as my meal. Their ramen soups do not disappoint. My husband had the miso glazed "to perfection" salmon. The sticky rice, steamed broccolini, and mushrooms accompanied the miso salmon so well. The service here is great and the staff is friendly, which is why they get 3 stars, because the food is...not good. For a restaurant billing itself as the "first real authentic ramen in Boca Raton, Florida," you'd think they'd try to make a good version of ramen. The noodles were fine and the egg was cooked so the yolk was still soft, so that was a plus. However, the ramen came out warm but not hot, which is never a good sign. Also, the pork was cut incredibly thick -- in Japan, that amount of pork (in the 2 slices) would have been cut into 3 slices at the very least, most likely 4 or more. The real issue, though, is that ramen lives and dies by its broth, and this definitely died due to it. I got the tonkotsu ramen (which the staff seem to really want to call "tonkatsu," which is a fried pork cutlet) and it just tasted so incredibly flat. Tonkotsu ramen is supposed to be rich and unctuous, full of umami. This was none of those things. There was salt but no actual flavor, like someone dunked some pork (not even pork bones) in a pot of water, added some soy sauce and salt, and called it a day. I mean, sure, maybe I should've managed my expectations more when I saw that their sign for wine had ワイソ (waiso) written instead of ワイン (wine), but that really isn't an excuse. I also found the dark layer on the top of the soup to be concerning, mainly because that can indicate that they didn't blanch the bones first. The pan-fried pork gyoza managed to be neither crispy nor juicy, which are the two things pan-fried gyoza should be. They also were served in a bowl with the sauce already poured on them, which I'm sure didn't help the texture at all. I suppose you could get away with calling the ramen "authentic" in that I've had ramen of similar quality in Japan, but that ramen also was 260 yen (about $2.50) so there was a reason there. Overall, I'm sad that the food here was just so completely disappointing, because the staff did seem really friendly, but a restaurant can't get by on service alone. Sorry :( read more

PSA: Good ramen found in Boca Raton! Ramen Lab Eatery has delicious ramen of course, but there are also yummy appetizers, great bao buns and tasty poke bowls too. Rich flavors on at their food and a hip 'noodle stall' ambiance. The staff is very friendly. There's an awesome open kitchen. Look up! There's a very cool painting on the wall. Their water is all filtered through Kangen systems. We got a tonkatsu ramen. And yes some yelpers have said the actual name for this is actually Tonkotsu - bone broth soup with noodles - but despite the confusion in name, this ramen is delicious! The noodles were chewy but soft, the broth was just right, not too salty or too bland. The soy sauce egg was marinated perfectly. The toppings were a good amount - scallions, bamboo shoots and black fungus. The karaage bao was so so good!!! Tender juicy panko breaded chicken cubes in a soft sweet fluffy bun. Tangy mildly spicy sauce with some pickled radish inside. I loved it. The tuna poke bowl large was a hefty portion. Good enough to share. It came with edamame, seaweed salad, imitation crab and some ginger plus nori. Everything was fresh and went very well with the two sauces they provided. The tuna amount wasn't as much as I'm use to having at other poke restaurants though. Other than that, everything was amazing and I'll definitely be back! read more

I've been searching for all the Ramen places I can find in south Florida and I found one that was pretty darn good! This place is easy to get to with a parking lot in front. It's an hour parking with an actual attendant manning the lot but we got in and out in 40 minutes. When you walk in, you are greeted and the menus are available to glance over and order. The cashier noticed we were reviewing the menu so he offered information to help us with our decision. We ordered the KFC Nana Wings and I got the Miso Ramen with Korean Short Rib. He didn't ask if we wanted drinks but gave us two small water cups. We paid and were given a number. We first went to sit at a table outside. This place is small on the inside. Most tables are tiny high tops that sit two, one big table for 6, and the bar had several stools. Otherwise, more tables are outside. We initially got a table outside since the only available inside was bar. The table was sticky and the outside was loud! The curtain was down on the sides of the awning due to rain. With the rain and everyone talking, we decided to see if any tables were open inside. We got lucky and went back in. The environment is much better inside with the music. We got our food and man was it delicious. The wings are a unique flavor and fried well. The ramen was so good. Not too salty and love all the textures in the one I ordered. Between the soft noodles, hard boiled eggs, and short rib - you get crunchy with the corn, bamboo shoots, and kikurage mushroom. Service was above expectations at a pay at counter place.
