Ramen 512 is a new gem inside of cedar park. I've been following them since their pop up days and have been patiently awaiting for them to open. They specialize in more classic ramen and this isn't your heavily salted broth type of ramen so that may explain some complaints. My favorite is the tonkotsu ramen followed by the mazesoba. They're currently open for lunch on the weekends but we usually go toward closing on weekdays since it's less busy. Be sure to order some of their Japanese juices and drinks and get the chicken karagge! read more

What a delicious ramen place! Having lived in SF, near Japan town, I ate a lot of ramen and specifically mabo ramen. This place made the best mabo ramen outside of that memory. Also tried the potato cake and spicy ramen. All delicious! The place is cozy and even in 100+ degree weather it was full. The food was delivered hot and quickly! I can tell the family that runs this cares but got overwhelmed with the volume of hungry cedar parkers. I was not overly impressed with the Ramen here. The noodles were undercooked and the broth was too cold which is probably the reason the noodles were undercooked (it's that last 5 minutes that count). You need to order via QR code and app on your phone which is the covid norm now, but the app requires you to pre-pay; including Tip. It's presumptuous to charge tips ahead of service. It's also presumptuous to charge tips for pickup food items or self-service items. The menu is overly simple; with dainty descriptions but no pictures so you don't really know what you're getting unless you've ordered there before. Prices are higher than they should be. Base ramen is $15 and goes up from there, which gets pricy quick. I wonder how much ramen I could buy at H-Mart for $100.00. I had to get my own water and my extra noodles from the cook; so I'm glad I didn't pay more than 18% tip. (This was not acceptable) I think this was an off night though, from a service perspective. I'm always excited to try new ramen spots whenever they open to see if any will compare to the ones I had in Japan. Ramen512 is not there yet but it has potential. The ramen came out quickly and looked delicious. However, when I tried the broth, I felt that something was lacking. That's not to say it was watered down, it was very creamy and the aroma of pork bones (I think they use trotters actually) was plentiful. But that's all there was. There was no complex flavors, no umami to it. Everything else was fine but no good broth means nothing else really matters. I would give it closer to 3/5 stars but it's a soft opening so they have a chance to adjust the flavors. read more

I was excited to try this place due to the hype and my unhealthy obsession with ramen, but I think I had my expectations way too high. Came at 7pm on a Sunday and a big rush just hit. Luckily we got the last spot, because a wait just started & they have no waiting area. It's a really small plain room with nothing exciting about the decor. You order yourself at the table. Prices are high...$15 before add ons. I also think it's odd to ask for a tip beforehand. I don't feel comfortable doing so unless I know what I'm tipping for. They just sit you down then bring you a plastic water carafe with paper cups. Another let down was I'm a sucker for a nice bowl which are shown on their IG, but we had plain white ones. I had the Classic Tonkotsu, extra ajitama +naruto. Broth was just average, not that flavorful & I wasn't crazy about the noodles. The pork chashu was cooked perfectly tho, def the highlight. My partner had the signature shoyu and the broth was hard to finish. Not worth the trip to Cedar Park. We still have Sazan & Tatsuya as our top ramen spots. read more

The ramen here was phenomenal! The service was quick and the broth was super flavorful. Each bowl had its own unique taste but my favorite was the Spicy Tan Tan ramen. It was rich and flavorful without overdoing it with salt. The portions were great, plenty of noodles, perfect texture. My only con is that the lack of fountain drinks, cocktails, or appetizers. By far some of, if not, the best ramen in Austin. (Even though the competition isn't very fierce). I got the Tonkatsu Tan Tan. It was a solid choice. It had much more flavor than most places' spicy tonkatsu (I haven't tried Ramen 512's spicy tonkatsu to compare directly). The noodles were decent enough, The pork was pretty good, and I finished off my bowl. Flavor wise, it was surprisingly close to Houston's Tiger Den's Tsukemen, just more brothy and less spicy. I've tried the Tori Tan tan twice at this B&M location. It was better my second visit, noticeable was the inclusion of spinach as a topping with the bowl. I had also asked for extra sesame paste, something I felt might have been lacking from my first bowl. the chashu is torched giving it a nice charred flavor, menma could use some more flavor, egg was perfect, noodles were thin had good texture, nice presentation. Overall a really solid bowl and in my opinion the best chicken broth based ramen in Austin. Pricing does appear to be steep, but if you add extra chashu, nori and ginger to the classic tonkotsu at Tatsuya($11), I think it comes out just a bit more than $16. Comparable to the $15 tonkotsu here with those extra toppings. There are some interesting videos on ramen making, which I think the chef appears in, look up "What It Takes to Make 400 Bowls of Ramen" video by Tasty on youtube. I was excited to have a new ramen place open up near us. I also heard good things about it, but overall wasn't that impressed. We came on a Sunday and sat down early (thankfully as it got busy). You scan a QR code and order on your phone and they bring out the food. I got the BGO and my husband got the classic tonkatsu. Both of us ordered extra toppings and noodles because we weren't sure how much was provided. The noodles were great, thin, and fresh. That was our favorite. The meat was charred and looked delicious but was a bit dry and not super flavorful. The broth was very creamy and oily, but not overly flavorful. Typically ramen can be a big salt bomb to the gut and the broth wasn't too salty so that part was good. Toppings are sufficient and I did not feel like we needed the extra noodles. My biggest complaint was the kids menu. I had a 2 year old and got a kid ramen. On the ordering it doesn't state whether the classic has all the toppings but as you "customize" it there is an option for noodles and soup only so I assumed it was just a half portion of the classic ramen. What we got...noodles and soup. That it. Nothing on top for $10. That is crazy to me that noodles and soup with nothing would cost $10. I ended up giving her some of my toppings and meat. Completely overpriced. I would pay $6 for a normal adult ramen with all the toppings. Overall...my husband enjoyed it. The staff was really friendly and nice. I appreciate the fact that everything is not overly salty, but I felt like the meat and broth didn't have a ton of flavor. It is still conveniently located for us so I'll try it again. This place is sooooo good. I always make the drive out here when I crave flavorful, traditional ramen. When I tell you it's worth the drive, it really is. The broth is so flavorful and noodles always cooked to perfection. The chicken karaage is the best I've had in Austin as well. My only complaint is that the service can be a bit slow. It can take some time just to get an appetizer. Sometimes I will see that people seated after us getting their food before ours. Usually larger groups with more food orders than us as well. So, its soft opening, but I want to give as accurate a review as I can. There are a few issues with this place that need some fixing. First is the restaurant itself, very boring, absolutely 0 decor. This wouldn't matter if it were some hole in the wall place with hole in the wall pricing, but its not, which brings us to the next issue, the price vs portion size. Holy crap is this place EXPENSIVE. I ended up paying $27 for a bowl of Ramen and a singular small Korokke, which was $4 by itself! If you are going to charge premium prices, you have to provide premium food AND service. The portion of Ramen is almost laughable when you compare it to other ramen places, even tatsuya gives you a big portion of broth. They gave a fair amount of toppings and noodles, there just wasn't enough broth at all, the bowls should fit double the broth they serve. If I spend almost $30 at a ramen place just on food, I should be walking out full, I had to grab an OhK dog from H-mart after dinner to finish the job. The staff was courteous, but not engaging, and seemed really rushed. There was one girl running around all the tables with occasional assistance from another woman that seemed to be functioning as an expo. There was no opportunity to give any feedback, which kinda defeats, at least in part, the purpose of a soft opening. If you're not getting real, honest feedback, you're not learning and adapting. Now onto the actual taste of the food. First off, I have to mention how bad the water tastes there... Idk if it goes through a mop bucket first or what, but the water was undrinkable for me. The Korokke was very good, could use more curry flavor in my opinion, but it was cooked well, the panko was crunchy and overall, 7/10 on flavor and execution. They make their own tonkatsu sauce which is cool, but it was fairly bitter, so that lost a point for sure. Ramen Broth: not a very traditional tonkatsu broth, it was much creamier than I've had before. The flavor is very deep, but I don't think they use MSG, because something was missing, and it wasn't salt, there was also a slight bitterness to the broth, slight, but noticeable. 6/10 Noodles: this is why I was so excited about coming here, but alas, I was let down... There was 0 bounce at all to the noodles and they were slightly undercooked. The resistance was like biting into al dente spaghetti, which is not the texture you want in ramen. The noodles were also on the thin side for my taste, and the noodles had a hard time holding onto broth when picking them up. 7/10 Charsiu: easily the best part of the meal, like by FAR. Probably the best traditional style charsiu I've ever had. Melt in your mouth texture with no fancy spices or anything on it, and I could pick up each entire slice with my chopsticks and it would stay completely together. This is an extremely difficult thing to achieve and they deserve all the credit in the world for getting it PERFECT. 11/10 Ajitama: Cooked well, not marinated long enough, flavor was bland, also $2 for one egg is steep. 6/10 Menma: They ferment their own menma here and it is the best damn menma I have had. Great texture and depth of flavor with a hint of sweetness that really matches well with the tonkatsu. 12/10 Overall, there were some very high highs, but also a few disappointing aspects to the exerience. Based on the cost, I don't see myself returning regularly unless there are some serious changes made to the decor and price vs portion. That being said, I will be back in a few months to see how they have improved. Overall experience: 7/10 read more

I first tried this ramen back when they did pop ups at Seoul Ju over a year ago and I've been hooked ever since. They continue to elevate their game. The appetizers are also on point! I've patronized ramen512 since their days in kitchen United mix, so I've been very excited for them to have their own place. Their ramen is so delicious and they're one of the only places in town that serves mazesoba, and the best one in town in my opinion. Their mazesoba noodles are cooked just right with a good chew. The sauce is spicy and delicious. And the minced meat portion is generous. If you're not up for spice, you can ask them to tone it down when you order. Service staff are really nice, but since they are super understaffed, you will need to be patient. Wait times during dinner are long due to being understaffed. We waited 40 minutes to get seated. But it's all worth it. You have to try their mazesoba if you go there, but their regular spicy tonkatsu is just as good too! One suggestion is that they provide a scoop of rice as a side to the mazesoba, so that we can mix it into the remaining sauce as a way to end the meal, just like they do in Japan!!! read more

decent ramen spot, just a little too expensive for what you're getting in my opinion. i'm not the biggest fan of ramen, and i also had high expectations after hearing many people say this was the best ramen they've had in texas, so perhaps that might've clouded my judgement. the broth was maybe just a bit too thin and plain for me, but i could tell there was a lot of subtle flavor that seemed more authentic to true japanese ramen. i also wasn't the biggest fan of the thin noodles, but i did appreciate how fresh they were. for my vegetarian boyfriend who likes ramen more than me, he enjoyed his vegan tantanmen but has other ramen spots he prefers. but! he said he was glad to have gotten to taste it since he's never seen a vegetarian version before and misses the meaty flavor. obviously it didn't taste like the original, but was still a very satisfying imitation. overall a decent spot, but a little more expensive than other ramen shops that i prefer just a bit more. it is a nice shakeup from the other places in austin and worth a try, especially if you don't enjoy the heaviness and saltiness of most ramen. read more

Super fresh and clean broth which is what I'm always looking for. Noodles are different than most ramen shops but are super soft and fresh tasting (I'm guessing they are made in house).
