I was passing through with my wife and a couple of friends and I was really excited about this place from being on DDD, and reviews I read, but I was very disappointed. My wife ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and the rest of us ordered breakfast. We waited at least 30 to 40 minutes for our food, but that was ok since we were not in a hurry. The sandwich came out hot but the 3 breakfast orders were lukewarm at best. When I said to the waitress it was not her fault her response was "I don't know what happened, the plates were steaming when I picked them up." Just overall a very poor response. I have never done, or experienced what I am about to tell you. My boyfriend and I came in one Saturday morning for breakfast. We were told by a waitress walking by, to pick wherever we would like to sit. We sat at a table and were told by a hostess who handed us our menus, that they were out of "touch-less menus". Never heard of this holographic anomaly, but okay. We perused the menus and quickly made our choices. The hostess came over and took our drink orders. Both soft-drinks. Drinks quickly came back and hostess disappeared. No sweetener offered for iced tea and she was so quick I couldn't even ask for straws, because I prefer not to drink out of plastic cups, especially now. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. The place was EMPTY. Maybe 5 tables full? NOT ONE TIME did a waitress come over, walk by, take our order or acknowledge our existence. We waited so long, WE LEFT. We didn't touch our drinks, because again, no straw and no sweetener. It felt like 15-20 minutes, but I could not tell you exactly the time we waited. It was almost comical. My boyfriend and I are locals, with three children and we will NEVER visit this establishment again. Complete lack of basic customer service and embarrassment to the restaurant industry. Businesses are struggling after this pandemic; you would think they would welcome customers back with open arms and, I don't know, A MEAL, when you visit their restaurant. Shameful. read more

Went for breakfast. The waitresses were very nice and super attentive. My coffee cup was always full and they came by often to make sure everything was ok. The portions were huge, my husband and I could have shared one of their skillet meals. The biscuits that come with are fantastic and flaky. We ordered one of their cinnamon buns to go and ate it later. It was pretty good, not the best I have had, I guess the size is more legendary than the taste itself. It has a different kind of frosting on it, an almond-esque feature to it. All in all, I had a great experience there and would probably go back if we're looking for breakfast. read more

Had the fish fry last Friday with my family. Salad was huge and tasty. Husband and son had the clam chowder which they practically inhaled. Seemed it took some time getting our fish and chips, they were busy! When the food came out it was definitely hot and fresh and was very delicious. We saw other patrons with cornbread and asked for some. The waitress brought it out and it too was wonderful, piping hot and moist. Price was right at $10 per person. A wonderful place that I'm surprised I didn't find sooner including I live in Ramona, the food is filling and wonderful, the staff are nothing but polite and try to fulfill everything they can, I got the 2-1-2, 2 buttermilk pancakes, an egg, and two sausages, and my table also ordered the cinnamon roll French toast to share, which was a lot by itself, the only wrong things I saw with it is that one of the staff at the table was new and struggling a bit (Of course it's not their fault, being a new employee can be difficult) and that the place was fairly packed, but that is to be expected of a Saturday morning. The service here is great. Everyone is so nice and very attentive. my family and I have eaten here three times and it was alright... The first meal I ate was a meat loaf sandwich, it was the special of the day and I have to say it was interesting. The amount of gravy made it soggy but overall it was really good not what I expected but good. The second was the firehouse burger. AMAZING!!! The third was the fried chicken, no good at all. It looked great but as soon as I took a bite of it I could tell that it was old. either it was leftovers from the day before or it was made earlier that day and left under lamps all day. It was such a let down i was looking forward to a nice piece of juicy fried chicken. Yummy sweets That I ate was the carrot cake. It won the blue ribbon at the fair but I didn't find anything special about it. I like may cake to be fluffy if that makes since, this one was really compact and had some weight to it. Walked over to Ramona Cafe while checking out the antique shops. We we're drawn in by the "famous cinnamon bun" sign. We walked in and seated ourselves. When we opened our menus, I was surprised to see the insert about Guy Fieri (Diners, Drive Inns, and Dives) visiting the restaurant. Since I love that show, I was excited to try the place out. We ordered a plate of French toast, served with bacon and egg. Since we weren't too hungry, my husband and I split the meal, and the waitress had the kitchen plate it on two separate plates for us, at no extra charge. The French toast was delicious. We had three slices each, and barely used the syrup because it really didn't need it. I was checked on for coffee refills a couple times, and each time the waitresses we're very friendly. When our bill came, it took a little bit of time for them to take it (with our card), so we ended up paying cash and leaving it on the table. Next door the restaurant is a bakery of British pastries. I would definitely recommend visiting them before leaving the area. The cherry tart mini pies are amazing! We also ordered a cinnamon roll to take home. The frosting had a wee bit too much sugar but still good. The second complaint though is that the little ticket that the bakery girl gave me said $3.75 and my check listed 3. 99. I could have said something and they probably would have fixed it but why do I need to point out the mistake? So, the 24¢ and the weird bakery disconnect cost them a star. read more

Having just moved to Ramona we had to try the half pound cinnamon rolls at the Ramona Cafe. We were very impressed on our first visit. The cinnamon rolls are warm and delightful with plenty of icing. I got the chicken fried steak for breakfast. The steak had incredible flavor and a nice crispy crunch to it. The gravy paired perfectly. Overall the experience was great. My 2 year old fit the family friendly atmosphere perfectly. We've been twice now and look forward to every visit! read more

Quality of the product has diminished over the years. I've eaten here many time over the years and always try to support local businesses. We had breakfast Saturday morning and the food was awful. I ordered cinnamon roll French toast and it was completely dry and hard in the outside and raw in the inside. I was able to pick out some edible bits here and there but left the majority of the plate untouched. Our other order was chicken fried steak and it was served with cold gravy on the top and hard, dry and cold potatoes with onion on the side. Considering the restaurant wasn't that busy I am just guessing they were understaffed or just didn't care. They are just coasting on their 15 minutes of fame they received from Diners Drive Ins and Dives and don't seem to care. Sad, won't be going back read more

Went there yesterday for 1st time because happened to be in Ramona. 1st question was are the menu's sanitized. Answer was yes. Sat by the kitchen output station. Menus were repeatedly taken out and replaced with no cleaning. Saw that tables were wiped with a rag taken out of a the same bucket repeatedly, same rag same liquid. Only table tops were wiped. No chairs or benches. Now the food--chicken fried steak was all batter and only paper thin meat. read more
