No taste ! No flavor! Expensive and only lasts a day or so! Take the extra drive to Julian where the good bakers live!!

So I'm guilty of not making the trek into Ramona for the full experience, but I snagged one of their blueberry pies for Christmas when I saw them sitting at Frazier Farms! They were sitting right next to the Julian pies and it kinda looked like a fight, like a battle of the mountain bakeries kind of fight. Needless to say, I grabbed both because everyone immediately glorifies the Julian pie so by including the Ramona pie, my objective was to introduce some low risk novelty for my Christmas get-together. I didn't have high hopes for Ramona's blueberry because I was suspicious of the huge bready looking crust roll in combination with the sticker on the front boasting "no seed oils". I'm not fluent in baking alchemy. I was raised on Costco pie (bleh). So, I thought this was going to be dry and overly sweet but much to my whole family's surprise, Ramona was the winner! My takeaway: Do not discriminate the chubby crust roll! Take it from me because I'm a savage that eats a pie right out of the fridge. The crust is like a shortbread cookie. It's almost on the Italian pastry spectrum. Very delicious. Very coffee friendly. The blueberry filling was also perfectly balanced. It wasn't too sweet and even with the crumble topping, I felt like I could eat it with yogurt in the morning and trick myself into calling it a wholesome breakfast. Now, I'm going to say this with a huge shield up... but it knocked the Julian apple pie way off the shelf for me. read more

Cute little shop on Main St. I stopped in to get a sourdough loaf and was so happily surprised when they said they just got done baking them. The nice gal behind the counter gave me a warm loaf, and I couldn't wait. Got back to the van and cut into it. And wow... just absolutely delicious! A wonderful place and an amazing proprietor I really question these 1 star reviews myself as I've found nothing but the greatest quality bread here. They also do a service to our community and give bread that most establishments would throw away to those in need for next next to no cost. Admirable. We're truly lucky to have such a place in our small town that bakes fresh bread daily. My only complaint is that it's not quite obvious this wonderful bakery is ACTUALLY a bakery from the street. We have become regulars at Ramona Country Bakery. We mostly go to buy bread, but we usually end up taking home cookies or cupcakes or fruits loafs as well. We have tried their pizza, which was surprisingly good, and we will get one again someday. The sourdough bread is amazing, and it can be eaten by most gluten free folks as well because of the natural fermentation they use (they say). The service is always great, even though we sometimes have to wait because there are folks ahead of us -or if you order a pizza or sandwich. But this isn't a fast food place and it's Ramona. The folks who work here are exceptional. Often times we are served by the owner, but we've enjoyed all of their counter people. Their different loaves of bread are on racks for you to choose yourself. I got a cinnamon roll, bread pudding, and sourdough loaf. The bread pudding was so-so, the cinnamon roll and sourdough were good. None were enough to have me running back quickly. I like my sourdough much more sour. The service was also a little awkward. I live down the street and walked in on a rather warm day so I had on workout clothes, no makeup, and was a little sweaty. Stumbled upon this bakery after our wine tour needing some carbs! We got a strawberry loaf, broccoli quiche, and a bacon jalapeño cheddar scone. The bakery is very cute with some tables you can enjoy your goods at and utensils and napkins are provided as well. The broccoli quiche came out fresh and hot and was truly one of the best I've ever had! Very cheesy and the crust was spectacular. I wish I had brought home an entire quiche from here. Let me tell you first of all, that I'm not a bread-a-holic. I don't eat bread with meals, not a fan of sandwiches, you get the point. A friend gifted me this loaf, because I was curious how the herbs would taste in bread. Oh, boy... I toasted a slice, added a bit of butter, and went to heaven! They don't use inflammatory seed oils and as a result I can eat their bakery products in moderation and not become inflamed & still stay on track with my weight goals. I've gotten wonderful Sourdough here which is raised without yeast and is extremely good for gut health. The Ely Coffey and lattes are delicious and we have really enjoyed the soups and quiches we've had for lunch. We haven't been to the bakery site yet, BUT the bakers were our former neighbors. They generously brought us homemade cinnamon rolls and cookies "for the kids" (hubby and I ate most of them before the kids found out we couldn't help it). Discovered this gem of a bakery prior to Thanksgiving and have been there three times in past week. Their breads are out of this world, to the point our out of state visitors are taking four of the fermented sourdough loaves home (on their cross country flight).
