Right in the heart of Historic Ramona sits Ramona Cafe. It is the classic diner with all the fixings. Retro decor, friendly staff, and good food. Now that we live in Ramona, we have been venturing out and trying the different eating establishments. This place is like Cheers, where everyone knows your name. It has a great vibe and decent prices. The plates are HUGE and definitely shareable. I have been here a few times now, and I always really like what I order, with one exception: I am not a fan of their biscuits. I have tried on a few occasions and they do not do it for me. Today's was really not palatable. You can tell it was overworked and not cooked properly. You could still taste raw flour. It stuck to the plate it was on; that's how poorly cooked it was. On the happy side, we had great breakfasts. I ordered something different today, their Au Gratin omelette. It tasted great, but did not taste anything like Au Gratin potatoes. I would order it again. We also had chicken-fried steak with gravy and a chorizo scramble. Both were tasty and super filling. I understand their cinnamon rolls are out of this world. Since I rarely eat sweet things, I have yet to take a bite. Hoping next time I go out with friends, someone orders one. There is outdoor seating, and the establishment is dog-friendly. So bring Fido along and enjoy a meal. *Please excuse the photo. I forgot to take one before I started eating my omelette. You can see how dry the biscuit was in the next photo.

We called ahead and they reserved a table for our party for brunch. They have a nice menu for breakfast items. I got the farmhouse skillet. They were able to alter it to my liking. I got the gravy on the side, which was really good. I think, for me, with it on it it could have been too much. But with me having it on the side, I was able to add it to my liking. Without it, it tasted rather bland. But either the gravy, it was quite delicious. The staff there were all friendly and helpful. They definitely showed patience with the group I was with haha

Came here the other day and had such a great experience! We had a party of six and the staff was super accommodating! Inside the restaurant is super welcoming and home-style atmosphere. The menu is huge in the best way, with so many options to choose from! Our waitress was incredibly sweet, checked on us just the right amount, and our food came out perfectly. I got the French toast and it was so good! Fluffy, buttery, and the portions were super generous! Also, if you're an iced coffee person, I would definitely recommend! It was massive, tasted great, and they even offered cups so we could take the rest to go! Overall, this place was amazing for breakfast and I'd absolutely recommend it. Can't wait to come back and try the lunch menu next time!

I was in Ramona, CA (San Diego) visiting my sick brother. I wanted to try a local breakfast place so he recommended the Ramona Cafe at 628 Main St, Ramona, CA 92065. He told me it was his favorite restaurant. So I went there two days and what an experience. The menu covered breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just about anything you wanted, it was there. The first day I had to try the 1/2 Lb cinnamon roll, as featured on a TV show. It was incredible, fresh made, lots of cinnamon and frosting. I only ate about 1/4 of it due to its size. I enjoyed a senior ham and cheese omelette with potatoes and a biscuit. The star of the meal was the home made salsa. The omelette was faboulos-great quality ingredients and cooked the way I liked it. The second visit I had their house specialty-seafood omelette filled with crab and shrimp. This was real crab, not the imitation you find in most restaurants. I give the omelette 5 Stars. I even tried the pancakes, which I really liked-thin, not thick or fluffy, my favorite style. I even had a slice of the boysenberry apple Pie. One of the best pies I've tasted! Quality ingredients that was not store bought. The restaurant itself has been around for many years. It is very rustic looking inside but clean and well maintained. The service is outstanding. On the first day I had a very nice server that made sure that I was provided with excellent service. The second day I had a young lady named Kelsey who really was very attentive and polite. The owner of the store was also working, serving customers. The restaurant had a lot of customers, so I checked out what they were ordering such as sandwiches and other items. If I lived in Ramona, I would be visiting the Ramona Cafe often. I therefore HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

    Best spot ever!

Cami is by far the best server! So much fun and so sweet! Had the best recommendations. We for sure be back next time we are up here. And for sure grab a cinnamon roll! Old school atmosphere. Perfect cafe.

We ventured out to Ramona for a morning breakfast and wanted to patronize a local restaurant not a corporate restaurant store. Ramona cafe did not disappoint us. A local restaurant with lots of historical and local flair. The Garden skillet breakfast was awesome. Generous portions and attentive support servers. Their greetings and smiles were in abundant supply!

Amazing cafe where you can sit inside or outside. You pick a table and sit down - no hostess. I love that! We had Amber as our server, and she was super accommodating and friendly! I had the Baja Scramble- sooo good! It was a lot of food, and I couldn't finish it all. But I'm having the leftovers for breakfast now at my house and loving the scramble once again! I can't wait to be up in Ramona, so I can go there again!

That commitment to quality and sustainability is commendable and something more restaurants should strive for. The staff is knowledgeable, and it's refreshing to see a restaurant that cares about where its food comes from. Unfortunately, that attention to ingredient sourcing seems to stop when it comes to cooking oils. Many of the menu items are prepared with soybean oil, which was disappointing given the otherwise high-quality and health-conscious image of the restaurant. Soybean oil is highly processed and contains large amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fats. While omega-6 fats are essential in moderation, excessive consumption relative to omega-3 intake has been associated with increased inflammation in some research. Soybean oil is also more susceptible to oxidation when exposed to high cooking temperatures, potentially producing compounds that some studies suggest may contribute to oxidative stress. In addition, many health-conscious consumers actively avoid industrial seed oils such as soybean, corn, and canola oils in favor of alternatives like olive oil, avocado oil, butter, or tallow. I would gladly give Marinade on Main a higher rating if they aligned their cooking oils with the same local, high-quality standards they apply to the rest of their ingredients. Switching to avocado oil or olive oil or beef talo would be a welcome improvement and would better match the restaurant's otherwise impressive commitment to quality. * also loose the standard strip of high fructose sodas and provide more natural optikns of drinks ...

I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste.

My husband and I were returning from a hiking weekend with our two doggies when we searched for a pet-friendly place to have lunch. Google suggested Farmhouse 78, and we are so glad it did. At first, I didn't notice the outdoor patio, so I went inside to ask. From the moment I walked through the door, every employee was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They made me feel valued as a customer and even offered to let us dine inside with our dogs. Out of respect for other guests, we chose to sit outside on their lovely patio. Everything about this place was wonderful--the cleanliness, the atmosphere, the service, and how quickly our food arrived. Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. My husband had the pork sandwich, and I ordered the cheeseburger with French fries. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and homemade. When I went inside to pay, I had the pleasure of meeting Cyndie at the register. I even brought friends who had never been here before, thinking it could become one of our regular stops when we're out hitting the trails. Instead, it left a bad taste in everyone's mouth... and not just from the food. Waitress: Where do I even start. She claimed she was hard of hearing--but her attitude spoke loud and clear. Tossing menus on the table, aggressively slamming salsa down, and getting snarky over being off because our party count was off by one person. Seriously? It took two seconds to adjust the table, but apparently that was just too much. Yes, she technically did her job... but with such a cold, unwelcoming, and rigid attitude that it made the whole experience uncomfortable. What really stood out? We were there first and ready to order, yet she chose to take care of every smaller table that came in after us. No communication, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Just ignored. Basic courtesy clearly isn't part of the service here. And trust me--I used to be a waitress. I handled large parties all the time and actually communicated with my tables. It's not that hard. Honestly, if gratuity hadn't already been forced onto the bill, she would've gotten $0. The only pleasant person we encountered was the busser--quick, friendly, and actually seemed like he wanted to be there. Maybe swap their roles, because he outperformed her by a mile. Food: Let's talk about the food... if that's what we're calling it. Everything came out cold. Not "warm-ish," not "could be hotter"... just straight up cold. It felt like our plates were sitting under a heat lamp for way too long before making it to the table. One "white" friend asked to have her meal fixed--fine, no problem. But when another "Hispanic" friend asked the same thing? Suddenly there was attitude, menu slamming, and mumbling under her breath. So... what exactly was the difference? Why the inconsistency and hostility? If the kitchen is that backed up, maybe management should step in and help instead of letting food die in the window. Just a thought. Final Thoughts: This place had potential... but that waitress single-handedly ruined it. We'll be taking our group (and our money) elsewhere--Dudley's Bakery is looking like a much better option moving forward. I usually bring large groups out here, so this isn't a small loss. Unfortunately, if this is the level of service they're okay with, this place isn't going to improve anytime soon. At this point, it's less "Farmhouse charm" and more "junky barn energy."

Server came to the table, took our drink orders, returning with the famous Boll weevil condiments tray and our drinks. She then took our burger orders. The food came out quickly and we dove in. Burgers were solid and tasty. Just not quite how I remember them. The menu has changed and been updated from the 1980's. So we ordered 2 different burgers, cut them in half and sampled both. This was a walk down memory lane for me. Although the burgers were good, they weren't quite how I remembered them. I'll eat here again but will slightly temper my expectations from now on.

Visually, it's a stunning cook--great muscle texture, a beautiful smoke ring, and a perfect bark. All the intense flavor and smoke live between the surface and that inner pink ring, so make sure your bite includes a bit of both. Man, what a delicious bite. I've been to that Michelin-recommended BBQ joint east of DTLA, and Pete's 100% blows it out of the water. This place makes California BBQ proud (that other spot is an embarrassment). I only wish they offered some zesty sides to pair with the meats to take it to the absolute next level! 1/3 lb Sausage: First bite delivers a perfect snap followed by great meat texture. Initially, you get hit with a slightly heavy saltiness, followed by a sharp, spicy goodness. I was on the fence after the very first bite, but the more you eat, the more the saltiness balances out. That snap, texture, spice, and salt combo just gets better and better until you realize you can't stop eating it. It is incredibly good. Pairing it with a creamy side perfectly complements the kick. Cornbread Upgrade: YES! The cornbread itself is delicious--excellent texture, great corn flavor, and a very mild sweetness. Plus, it comes with a honey butter blend that is next-level delicious. It was a very pleasant surprise just how good this was!

The eggs and hash browns were mediocre at best, and the bacon was so overcooked it had the texture of a chip and was way too salty. It was all fine, just nothing special--something I could've easily made at home for better taste and a lower price. The menu overall felt overpriced for the quality, especially since most items were $17+. Customer service was fine, but nothing stood out or made the experience better. The food did come out quickly, which I appreciated, and our drinks were refilled in a timely manner, which made the experience smoother. The one true highlight was the sourdough toast--it was actually really good. For comparison, places like Broken Yolk Cafe offer breakfast-style meals at a lower price with comparable (or even better) quality and portion sizes, which made this restaurant feel overpriced for what you get. Their website lists prices as $10-$20, but in reality most items I saw were $16+, so the pricing felt higher than expected and feel that should be updated ! That said, I personally find this place a bit too pricey for the overall food quality.
