Lovely old town charm, warm inviting space with sweet treats, fairly consistent baristas and customer service that could use some refreshing. They don't have much for lunch, very light fare, but wowza if you want some of the best cookies ever, go for it...my favorite is the double chocolate walnut and plain ole chocolate chip, the tart are groovy too. I am so ready for COVID to be contained and to return to this lovely venue! It was one of my favorite places to spend afternoons chugging chai lattes and eating a glorious array of pastries while whittling away at my homework. My all-time favorites are the apple pandowdies, which are rich bricks of firm eggy batter encasing chopped up croissants, glazed and striped with icing and layered with sliced apples and berries. SO GOOD, if you can't tell from the purple prose. Close runner-ups are the chocolate rum balls and fruit frangipane tarts, but honestly you can't go wrong with any of it. I haven't tried the pastries but 4 stars for cuteness and for their service in accommodating us with a large box of two dozen pastries for our client. They also have cute little cakes and torts... Not entirely sure of the sandwiches but they are individually wrapped so that was cool. read more

Ramone's is by far my most favorite bakery - All locations. I'm rather partial to the e Street location though, as I like the brick interior and walking to the bay. Over the years that I lived here, I tried just about everything they made. I definitely have my favorites, and not favorites; though nothing was bad. Ever. (Favorites include: grasshoppers, petit fours, raspberry chocolate torte, napoleons, apple pandowdy, and rum balls) Large assortment and variety of goodies, good coffee (fair trade, organic, etc.) and tea, even lunch items like sandwiches. Great place to stop to grab a quick bite, for a variety of tastes. Anytime I'm going to be in, or passing through, northern California, I will take an extra day just to drive over (from the 5 - no short drive) and enjoy a day in redwood park with some coffee and a pastry. Then I take a large assortment of deliciousness with me. When I'm up for a visit, I go to ramone's every morning that I'm there. In other places I live/lived, the bakeries just aren't of the same quality & tastiness. I go to the bakeries in my current location maybe once or twice a year. read more

I frequented Eureka doing school-related work, and stopped by here several times. Their coffees are OK; their hot chocolate was OK, too. Their pastries on the other hand, are good. I've had their oatmeal cookie, and also have had their sesame seed cookie. Decor is nice, & place is clean. read more

Atmosphere is really good and décor is great. There is plenty of seating and the sandwiches are great. This a solid place to go for a snack or larger meal. Great place to relax, visit with friends, or read a book on your own. We often bring out of town guests here for morning coffee. Both locations have their benefits -- old town is great because there are many things to do within walking distance and it has the old brick charm. The location by the hospital is also convenient as often errands will lead you to this part of town. read more

I had high hopes for this place because of the building and decor, however, I do not recommend this place at all. The workers were very unhappy, which could just be a bad day, but when a customer brought their bakery item back because it was stale, they just threw it back into the case for someone else to buy! When I sat down, my croissant was awful and cold and not edible. Whatever, I didn't come here to eat, just to work, BUT their wifi doesn't even work. It is and endless loop of "trying to connect." I asked about it to see if it was just my computer but no, the person I asked also has never been able to connect. Do not waste your time or money here. read more

Not overly sweet like Starbucks, or some other places. Quality is the key here. They have quite a selection for those that are picky. Fair prices and all. Been here a couple times for business meetings. The coffee and bakery items are quite good. Where this place faulters is in cleanliness. Tables, counters and kitchen are very dirty. The bathroom was FILTHY. Not exaggerating. I know from experience that the floors had not been swept or mopped in at least a month. The toilet and sink were embarrassing. Ramone's is more interested in profits than customers' health. Ramone's does NOT list product ingredients at its counter, and it does NOT train its workers about its product ingredients. When asked specific questions, they'd rather make a sale than look up the answer. VERY DISAPPOINTING! When I passed thru ultra vegan-friendly Arcata, I was surprised by the lack of vegan desserts. I thought the Wildberries Market's Ramone's counter might be the answer. I explicitly told the counter person I was a lactose-intolerant vegan, and I avoid animal products. Without checking, she told me 1 [gluten-free] chocolate torte was vegan. The next day, I visited the main store in Eureka. I asked why the counter-materials don't advertise the vegan desserts, and I was told they don't have any!! I mentioned my experience at the Arcata store, and they defensively claimed the salesperson must have misunderstood me. Perhaps Ramone's will do better in the future, but it seems motivated by trying to avoid a lawsuit (over adverse reactions to lactose intolerance) rather than by any concern for its customers. read more

I am updating my review from before due strictly for service. This location seems to be the only one that we have issues with. Every time we go here the service sucks. We walked in at 4:20 on an afternoon with the door open and we were told they were closed, another time 5 minutes to the hour with door unlocked and open yet the employee told us they were closed. Evidently they are too important to be bothered to either lock the door or help a paying customer just at closing time. I get saying we are just closing so everything is take out only. I will go to the other locations, but will not try this one again. read more

I had a good cup of coffee today at Ramones. Usually I don't like their coffee but Jordon, the new guy, was kind enough to let me explain what I wanted. It was very close to a Gibraltar drink. Usually their customer service is not so good. But he was great. I hope someone there who can change things might consider to add this to their selection. I don't know why I always have to find a bakery every time we go tourista. Carb craving I suppose. Well this place did not disappoint . We picked up baklava (which was outstanding) shortbread (chocolate dipped of course) and a wonderful morsel called "chocolate dipped macaroon". That unfortunately, did not make it back to the car. Eaten on the spot.(sigh) The cakes and assorted baked items in their case were beautifully decorated. More like little individual tiny pieces of art. (wish I could've tried them all) The girl behind the counter was very sweet and let us sample their coffees since we had problems deciding. I visited Eureka for a few days and needed my morning coffee fix. Espresso beverages are mediocre. There is very little crema, milk isn't steamed properly so it's very thin and doesn't develop the slightly sweet flavor and then served way too hot. Out of the three places in Eureka I tried, Latte Love is only one I liked. read more

Staff is always on top of the store, but always burns the milk. Some say the coffee is bad, which it is not. The baristas consistently burn the milk, making the whole drink taste toasted and burnt, which is actually the flavor I associate to most of their locations. When they get it right, it's great. I've been to all of their locations. Old Town Eureka is the cutest location, with the Arcata one being the most convenient since it's located in Wildberries grocery store (shop and sip). They make the best iced lattes in all of NoHum in my opinion. They even have coffee iced cubes for iced coffee. The staff here is great. Unfortunately, their baked goods aren't my thing. The pastries always seem dried out to me, no matter what time of day. read more

Ramone's, when I lived here, was one of my go-to coffee/wifi places. Their scones (esp cornmeal-mixed berry) are flavorful, tender and not so sweet as to be cloying. They have some fantastic cookies and serve decent coffee too. Their cakes aren't to my taste, but plenty of folks locally like them. Service can be great or mildly irritating--depends on who's behind the counter. They offer free wifi and a pleasant selection of tables at which you can enjoy your coffee and scone, read the paper, work on your laptop or whatever. If you're an up-tight whiner with a stomach-ache from Berkeley, no doubt you'll find something to cry about, but most folks will enjoy this cheerful, local bakery in an attractive part of old town Eureka. read more

I'm usually an 'eat a few bites of pie and call it good' type of person but I ate two whole pieces of the peach pie and dangit, I want to go back tomorrow for more. The coffee here is amazing- always smooth yet bold, never tastes old. Very consistent. (The house blend is my usual, but the light roast is good also.)
