Ramparts feels like the neighborhood bar where everyone knows your name. My husband and I have lived in the area for the last five years, and Ramparts has become one of our go-to spots. First off, their staff is INCREDIBLE- they are so warm and they always remember us when we pop in, even if we haven't gone in weeks. They are always so attentive and kind. Honestly, some of the best service in the area. They also have fantastic food and drink specials. We are wing night regulars, and all of their flavors are top notch. My favorite has to be their Cajun dry rub and hot wings, while my husband loves the garlic lemon pepper and BBQ. Their steak salad is also phenomenal, and a can't miss menu item. read more

We were headed home when our car broke down. I am so glad it did by this place. Menu was great, so much to choose from. Server was pleasant and not too bad to look at... We are frequent customers of Ramparts- yes it is small and since covid we have been takeout only- this little place has saved us- I love the grilled chicken ceasar salad, dressing on side and well done chicken AND the hamburger, well done, just lettuce and tomato with house made potato chips is heavenly- I am not a red meat eater but this burger had me wanting to eat my husbands dinner!! We first started coming to Ramparts in 2002 when we moved into the neighborhood. After several years overseas, we're back and happy to see that Ramparts is still here, and better than ever. Most noticeably, the entire establishment is thankfully now smoke-free. We walk here at least once a week, usually on Mondays for half-priced Burger Night and Monday Night Football! We always sit in the sports-bar room. Ramparts has a superb beer list, with dozens of craft beers on-tap and dozens more in bottles. The staff are super friendly, and service is decent. The long-time bartenders greet us by name and remember our favorite drinks. Ramparts does two things very well: good pub grub and great beer. On rare occasions we splurge on the entree specials, often featuring exotic platters like grilled fish topped with lobster meat. The portions are huge, so the wife and I always share one entree. A few tips: Ramparts participates in the United MileagePlus Dining program, so you can get frequent flier miles when you dine & drink and charge it to your United Visa card (except on Monday and Friday nights). Also be aware that it can get very busy and loud on trivia night and during big sporting events. But if you come here on a early weekday or Saturday afternoon, you can sometimes find the bar to yourself. The atmosphere of Ramparts sort of reminds us of our old London neighborhood "local", where all the regulars knew each other and the pub was an extension of your own home! About a 2-2.5: My husband and I came here for dinner - we've heard about Rampart's being a neighborhood favorite and how they have some great food! We were seated by the booth area - we didn't know that this was a 2-part restaurant - one was a sit-down whereas next door, was a tavern/bar. From the Appetizers section, we started off with Shrimp Kickers (there was half pound of shrimp with white wine and garlic, set on top of bacon cheddar cheese grits with a side of their spicy Gator sauce) - I liked the steamed shrimp on top as there was a good amount of shrimp; however, the grits underneath, I was not a fan, as it was very sour and citrus-y; the 'Tato Bites (house made potato tots filled with cheddar cheese, bacon, chives, with a side of chipotle sour cream dipping sauce) - this was okay as they were little mounds of lightly fried potato balls; not salty at all, and I wasn't a fan of the chipotle sour cream sauce but preferred ketchup instead. There was also a Wednesday wings special for 59c each; there were different sauces available, but I stuck with the 'Hot' sauce - I did request for the wings to be extra well-done, but they were not cooked all the way through - the wings were more of a wet version and more on the bland side; the bleu cheese sauce was very watery, too. My husband also ordered a cup of French Onion Soup that was hearty and filled with lots of sauteed onions and lots of thick melted Gruyere cheese on top - the broth was pretty okay. For our entrees, I had the Mushroom Ravioli (wild mushroom filled ravioli sauteed with spinach, diced pancetta, chopped Portobello mushrooms, tomato, sweet onions, all in a sherry-Parmesan cream sauce with Parmesan cheese on top) - the dish wasn't too heavy and was not salty, which was nice - the sauteed spinach was a nice added touch, but I thought that pancetta wasn't too fresh and didn't do so much for the dish. My husband had the Jack Daniel's Pork (2 8oz pork 'ribeyes' seasoned and pan seared with a cheddar-scallion mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables with a side of the Jack Daniel's glaze sauce) - the porkchops were cooked all the way through and was very juicy - I believe the Jack Daniel's sauce was housemade was you can really taste the Jack Daniel's in this sweet glaze; my husband preferred it with the Texas Pete hot sauce, though; the side of vegetables were sliced zucchini and carrots, and the scallion mashed potatoes were okay, but more on the bland side. Our server was Alex P. was attentive and was very sweet. We were disappointed that the ribs were not available, but noticed that one lady at the bar had it after us; we inquired about this, and supposedly, it was done 10 minutes after we put our order in - we thought it would have been nice if the kitchen staff or the server had let us known about the ribs and hoped that they would have given us the option of whether we wanted to wait for them or not. The food: Decent We had an order of wings that were fried crispy with the sauce and dry rubs on the side. I had the crab cake and steak since the waitress said that she did not recommend the chicken. He had the NY strip. Both steaks had a lot of fat on them. Kind of disappointing, but they at least had good flavor. Drinks: OK I started off with a margarita. Not impressive at all. Needed more liquor and less of the tangy stuff. Yuck! They had half off bottles of wine which was good though. We finally ordered a bottle because I was sitting there with a sour face from my first selection. The Ambiance: Meh!!! This place is a straight up smoke pit in the bar area. Unfortunately, this is where they had the live music. I guess they think only smokers enjoy live music. As a singer, I was quite irritated with my lack of a clean air supply. I came for 50 cent wings on a Wednesday night. While the prospect of cheap wings is usually music to my ears, Ramparts wasn't anything spectacular. I sat in the bar area which seemed a little grungier than the dining area....maybe it would've been better if we weren't seated facing the kitchen door. The table was about as sticky as the one rag they use to clean each table. The wings were just okay. They had a bunch of different sauce choices but we stuck with hot and BBQ which were good. It was definitely a plus that they had Strongbow cider! The service was actually really great. Our server was nice and checked on us multiple times to make sure we were happy with our food and drinks. The vibe of the place is very similar to their sister restaurant, Shooter McGee's. We used to visit Ramparts often. Since Covid I hadn't been there in a while. I went yesterday and was disappointed. We were a small party and the place was not busy. I ordered a brunch item and specified I'd like my Salmon well done. The food looked good but really lacked something. My fish was mushy and tepid at best. It took 45 mins to get our food, again, even though it was not busy. The thing I noticed most was the unkept appearance of the place. The foors were covered in food and the bathrooms were not very clean. Our water glasses were filthy! I mean disgusting. I took my napkin and rubbed it around the glass to make sure it wasn't just an old glass. It was not old, just dirty. I understand restaurants are having a bad time. Solid spot. As a pescatarian, I often select from 1-2 things on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised to see several delicious options for me between the brunch and regular menu. My salmon was cooked very well, my husband's burger honestly looked out of this world and the apple crumb waffles were obviously a hit with the kids. Free, convenient parking out back. Downfall was our waiter automatically adding a 20% tip. We were a party of 5, with 2 kids who ate Sunday brunch with only a handful of other people dining. My kids are kids, but weren't out of hand by any means. We did receive good service and would have probably tipped the 20% on our own but I was a little taken back by that, knowing the standard is generally auto-tip starting at 6-8 people (adults). Had a "meh" experience here recently. Went for lunch, sat at the bar. Bartender (Linda) was VERY friendly. You can tell she GETS it. Could have chatted with her all day. I ordered the Jack Daniel's minis and a cup of their soup of the day - which was chicken & roasted corn chowder. The chowder was fine - good, but not amazing. The sliders were just okay, nothing special really; there was too much bun for the burger, and I ordered mine medium well, which they most certainly were not (see picture). I normally don't mind my burgers cooked medium - but I have found that a lot of places undercook them, so I've begun ordering them medium well. One slider in particular was much closer to medium rare. I also ordered their hazelnut dessert, which was very interesting. It wasn't over the top sweet, which I appreciated. Ultimately I might try Ramparts again if I were in the area, but I might steer clear of their burgers. read more

I tend not to like a place overly much when I get violently ill after eating there. When it happens to two people, even less so. Food and beverages: The chicken wings tasted like boiled chicken, dipped in sauce, and put in a toaster oven almost long enough. The tacos were soggy and needlessly spiced. The beer was watery, bordering on flat. Service: We sat at the bar and the bar tender was friendly and attentive, both in a good way. Other thoughts: This place has a plethora of happy hour and daily specials. If only the food was better. Normally I would not dream of going back to a place after the... results we experienced. I've been to Ramparts twice now, the first time for dinner and the second time for brunch. For brunch, I ordered the waffle with apple topping. The food arrived promptly and the waffle was enjoyable. I'm not going to oversell it because it was still just a waffle but I was satisfied. My friend ordered a salad with a side of sweet potato fries, which were delicious. The service was also phenomenal as our waitress was very kind and attentive. Ramparts is definitely a great local spot and I can see why it is beloved by the neighborhood. read more

When I am anxious to write a review prior to eating, it can't be good. Ok...that may have been a bit misleading. However, I will begin with facts. 1. I ordered my food via phone. 2. When I arrived it was ready. 3. I feverishly drove back to the hotel to eat. (As feverishly as I could in a 25 MPH zone.) It was after 6, I hadn't eaten, and I had been driving all day. So again, reread the first sentence. (Hangry is the word that perfectly sums up that particular emotion.) 4. I ordered the veggie sandwich with fries - which actually wasn't bad but by the time I was able to eat it, it was soggy. I had them hold the avocado mayo and sub the provolone for goat cheese! YES! I also ordered the ribs with fries. (Take note: That's two orders of fries.) And I also ordered the mushroom ravioli with chicken. By the looks on their faces, the other two entrees were tasty. They're teenagers. Here's where things just go south...zero forks and knives. Three ketchup packets. Yeah, that was my reaction. Needless to say, I had to hunt down someone in the hotel for forks (which will definitely be mentioned in THEIR review), and I literally had one ketchup packet for my fries that I didn't get to finish because, well...NO KETCHUP! In closing, I had to eat a soggy sandwich because I had to waste time looking for a fork. You may say...'You don't need a fork to eat a sandwich.' Yes! However, it would've been rude, and not very parentlike of me to sit and eat while my child went hungry or ate ravioli with her fingers. Ramparts really surprised us this weekend. We walked in for brunch at 2:30 PM on a Sunday, no hostess in sight, one waiter. The bartender looked away when we made eye contact. We just stood there for a while and finally what we thought was a customer at first stood up from a table and asked us if we needed a table. We said yes. She sat us after a hushed argument with the one waiter was working then she went back to finish her brunch a few booths away from us with another employee. I did not see a manager, no one took a drink order, no one approached our table for a while. We sat there for a while then she got up and came over finally and argued with us when we mentioned that we had been waiting for a while. She was rude and defensive. Then the hostess came wandering out of the back and sat down at an empty table to clean it. This was absentee management at it's best. We have been coming to Ramparts on and off for probably four years or so. Never frequently enough so anyone on the staff knows our names, but enough so they are like, 'Oh hey, you guys.' The food is very solid and the beer list is extensive. Getting a table when a game is on can sometimes be a challenge, but the service is good more often than not. Who has half price wine bottles on a Saturday night?!? This place!! You really can't beat that regardless of the food...and it's not bad!! The chili is very good, but definitely not spicy. The onions are crunchy and give it a nice texture. The mushroom and sausage ravioli was pretty good, but didn't have a lot of sausage. The yummy sauce made up for it, though. The BBQ sauce on my husband's ribs was quite tasty. The cole slaw left something to be desired, but the potato salad was pretty good. This place is just one of my favorite options for having a good time gathering with family or friends . There is the warm dining section where you can enjoy weekly and daily specials, aside the very interesting menu they have this Chef's daily special dishes and depending on the day the weekly special too . The food is good , the service is friendly and efficient. There is also just across a hall the other Sports bar section with a large bar with great drinks and awesome bar tenders and you can enjoy the same menu in a different ambience and LIVE MUSIC. Can't get better. I must confess , the wings are my weakness at Ramparts, the best I have tried so far..6 different flavors and they go on special on Wednesdays .
