My son and I dined on a Monday just before 5pm. We were greeted and seated immediately by a friendly gentleman. Margaritas on special 4-6. I ordered the traditional, that and tortilla chips and salsa were served promptly. Love the festive Mexican atmosphere, so bright and welcoming. My son had Quesadillas he asked for no vegetables, also came with rice and fresh Guacamole. He had dined once before with his Father and they both loved it! I had enchiladas with guacamole, food fresh and authentic! The margaritas are a refreshing perfect sweet, sour, and salty bitter. I was offered a to go cup they are generous portions. Best Mexican food in Cicero!

Recently tried Rancho Viejo with a small party. We were able to make a reservation for a party of 5 earlier in the day and were sat immediately when we came in. Chips and salsa and waters brought quickly. Lots of choices on the menu, but it's basically the exact same menu you see at every Mexican restaurant - I've yet to find a Mexican restaurant that doesn't have the exact same dishes as everywhere else. Our food was brought quickly and while nothing was bad, no one in our party were blown away either. Everything was very average, from the portions to the flavor. I got the primo special - a burrito filled with chorizo & chicken, my wife got fajitas. One of our party got birria tacos and felt the consome was bland. Our service was not great either. While our food was brought quickly, our server was apathetic and made us feel like we were bothering him. When our dishes were brought out, they were brought out one by one with several minutes in between instead of together, which we just found odd and made for an awkward experience. The restaurant is decorated nicely, there is a small parking lot with easily accessible parking spots. We probably would not return, as we've simply had better food and service at other similar restaurants.

Everything here is delicious, chips are hot and fresh, salsa just the right amount of kick. Service is prompt, friendly, and efficient. The colors are bright and all is clean. We have been twice and will keep coming back!! Last time I had a margarita and it too was tasty.

I had three friends tell me I *HAD* to check out Rancho Viejo, and specifically try the pork chile verde. It came up because we were talking about our favorite mexican dishes, and mine happens to be pork chile verde. OK. Finally, I doordashed this allegedly amazing dish. And let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. First of all, it came SO HOT and fresh. It was SO FULL OF FLAVOR, like, had to stop and think about it good. There's a ton of meat and the green sauce is drinkable. Writing this review, I want to go get more right now. So, don't hesitate. Taste. Go.

Great restaurant! The food portions are very large. The menu prices are not low, but also not terribly high, and the portion sizes are great. Our server was awesome and attentive. We went on a Tuesday at 6pm and when asked, they said they had happy hour with $5 off their house margaritas (medium and large). I got a medium house margarita for $7.50 (orig $12.50) and it was much bigger than expected. I couldn't finish it. Each of our meals looks great and were delicious.

Everyone in our group liked our food. The salsa was good, flavorful but not too spicy. The restaurant was cute and our waiter was very attentive. Will be back next time I'm in town!

My mom and I love coming to Rancho Viejo on nights out for dinner! We ordered some super yummy drinks (Margaritas, obviously) and had a delicious dinner. It was a little bit busy, but despite this staff were super friendly and helpful. This place had a classic Mexican-restaurant feel which is fun! I recommend the peanut butter pie for dessert, it's so yummy!

100% would recommend !! Go and give this place a try you won't regret it ! First off the family and others working there are just absolutely amazing . The food was amazing you can taste the love and effort going into the cooking . My family and I came in late to celebrate my sisters birthday , the drinks were made to perfection our waiter Alex was the coolest guy we could have asked for . --We had thought they were open for another hour when really they were getting ready to close . With 45 left they had made us feel in NO rush , they told us several times to take our time and even let us stay past closing so we could finish our meal . 10/10 on Coustmer service they were so beyond nice it made our night and memories that will last forever with our family . Thank you guys again for a great night we will be 100% returning !! Wish I had better pictures to post but we just had such a great time didn't cross my mind much !

Service was excellent. Chips, salsa and hot salsa were great. Bean dip had great flavor-could have been slightly thicker. Chicken taco was outstanding with plenty of flavor. Fajitas and other two tacos needed a little salsa and then they were great as well. I would go back

    Fajitas

Absolutely delicious. Salsa had just the perfect amount of kick. Queso was very good as well. Ordered steak & chicken fajitas, yummy. Our server was excellent.

I had the Seafood Alexander (amazing). Their steaks were tender and delicious. The service was top notch. The Owner, Charlie, came around to the tables to check on us. We made reservations at the last minute, so we ended up in the "overflow" room, which was in a seperate room from the main restaurant. I would suggest if you go with younger kids (which we did) you book this area. The Ambience in both areas was great. We walked through the main restaurant which was dimly lit and had music. Perfect for a well deserved, relaxed evening. The Overflow room was more lit and quiet, for a relaxed evening with conversation. We're looking forward to another night out there!

We were extra excited by what seemed to be their signature dish, steak and mashed potatoes. Well, we had an 8pm reservation, which to me is normal time, but seems to be like a last seating for this restaurant. The place was full upon entering but emptied out quickly during our meal experience. It was just our immediate family of 4. Started with cocktails and proceeded to order the seafood trio app, which was good. Wedge salad, which was also good. Had a nice waitress who had a good sense of humor. The rest went downhill. We all ordered different types of steaks and 3 of 4 medium rare, one NY Strip medium. Ordered a side of Brussel sprouts and some other accompanying sauces. All 3 steaks came out in variations of well done - gross! On an even more disappointing note, we were told there is no more mashed potatoes, which is why we chose this place, and then told only 2 baked potatoes, so we had to decide who gets it and who doesn't. A TERRIBLE thing to happen at a steak restaurant, in addition to ruining what seemed to be quality steaks. The Brussel sprouts came out overly well done drenched in their sauce. Bite into any of them and they were totally deflated and not good. We couldn't even eat it. The waitress came back and asked how things were... my wife's fillet was so over cooked the waitress even agreed and offered to remake. By this time it was almost 9:15 and she lost her appetite. The three of us just didn't mention how ours were because it would have just caused chaos that none of us wanted. We NEVER send back food, but in this case, hers was insanely overcooked. We asked to have it removed from the bill, which they did. Regardless, we dropped $430, including a $70 tip (because I am generous... waitress should have done a lot more for us when noticing the quality of what was served to us) for the 4 of us, with only 3 main meals. Just a real poor experience. I'm hoping this was just an isolated happening, but completely upset it happened to us for my daughter's graduation, son's 25th Bday and our 27th Anniversary. All that weekend. Advice to owner: please ensure you have enough product for your reservations. We were not walk-ins. Then, listen to the customer's request for how they prefer their steaks to be cooked and serve as ordered. 8pm reservation should not make a difference from a 6pm. I'm just really disappointed and wish we went to Ts instead, but liked the idea of smaller and more intimate.

The dining room has clearly been upgraded recently and was beautiful! Our server explained the various menus and specials and quickly took our drink orders. However, service started to decline after this. We had ordered the warm bread basket, and never ended up getting it. By the time we realized they had forgotten about it, we didn't feel like it was worth it. Our salads and soups came out quickly, but everything else took a while. When we would finish one course, it would take 10-15 min to clear our empty plates. The waitress also didn't check in with us very often to see if we wanted to order more drinks. I will also say that more places should start bringing our young kids entrees before the adults. It can be very tough for a toddler to patiently wait 30 minutes for their food. Once we got our food, I will say everything was quite delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor. Portion sizes were also great. I did find an unmashed chunk in my whipped potatoes, but the taste made up for that. The kids mac and cheese was also delicious and the portion was huge! For dessert, we had the option of creme brûlée cheesecake or flourless chocolate torte. Both were decadent and a good way to end the meal. We definitely want to give this place another try, as the food was good. They just need to work out some kinks with their service.

Upon entering, the restaurant has a very dated, 1970s-style atmosphere. While some may find that nostalgic, it felt more worn than classic. We were seated quickly, which was a good start, but the issues began with the food. The bruschetta was not what we expected--it resembled more of a flatbread pizza than a traditional bruschetta. My wife ordered a butterflied filet cooked medium well with a lobster tail and a Caesar salad (no anchovies). Unfortunately, the steak was overcooked and lacked flavor, and the lobster tail didn't seem particularly fresh. The Caesar salad was average at best. I ordered the prime rib medium, which also missed the mark. The temperature and seasoning were inconsistent, and it didn't have the rich, tender quality you'd expect from a steakhouse with this kind of reputation. Service was acceptable but not memorable--nothing particularly wrong, but nothing that stood out either. Overall, while we were hopeful going in, the quality of the food didn't justify the price. With some improvements to both the menu execution and atmosphere, this could be a much better experience, but as it stands, it was disappointing.

I was a little bit wary about going to Prime the way we were dressed (super casual as we'd just come from the nearby mall). My husband called ahead to inquire about the wait for a table, dress code, and if they could accommodate our daughter's allergies. He was informed there was no wait and it'd be fine to come as we were and was reassured that they could accommodate our daughter. We were some of the most casually dressed (sneakers, jeans, husband in a t shirt, etc) in the dining room and only party with children but no one batted an eye. Food menu looked typical in offerings and prices on par with chain steak houses that are three dollar signs. I didn't look too closely at the wine and cocktail list. We had half a dozen oysters, petite filet mignon with blue cheese, cowboy steak, side of mac and cheese, side of sweet corn crème brûlée, side of asparagus, side of French fries, and chicken for my daughter. I had an autumn cocktail, husband had an old fashioned, kids had apple cider and lemonade. Total came out to under $300. Everything was solid. I enjoyed how our steaks came with whole cloves of garlic. We like our steaks medium rare and they were cooked perfectly. Katrina asked us to cut into them to double check they were fine. My daughter's chicken was tender and the French fries were so crispy, we were concerned about them being breaded at first. The side of French fries was big enough for the kids to share. I especially enjoyed the sweet corn crème brûlée. I didn't care much for the mac and cheese. I enjoyed my seasonal cocktail but found the old fashioned to be a bit harsh. Like aforementioned, Katrina made our night. It was nice chatting with her, she gave us just the right amount of attention, and she was extra patient with the kids even when my youngest spilled his practically full glass of lemonade. She was also very knowledgeable about what's on the menu and in the food. This is very reassuring when you have a kid with a lot of allergies. I'd come here again if I was in the mood for a solid steak dinner.
