I stopped at Zack's on a Friday evening to get a slice of pizza for my son. We had been running around all day, had already gotten home, and I realized we had promised him pizza, so I came back out specifically to grab him a slice. I chose Zack's because it's close to my home. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming. There was no greeting or acknowledgment. There were a few other customers inside, including a family with a child. While looking at the pizza on display, I noticed that the slices looked dry and as though they had been sitting for a while. I also noticed the man behind the counter going between reheating/handling the pizzas and wiping down the counter, which made me uncomfortable from a food-handling standpoint. I was tired and decided to order a slice anyway. After I had already paid, I simply asked if the pizza was fresh. His reaction completely caught me off guard. Instead of just answering my question, he immediately became loud, defensive and started yelling about how he reheats the pizzas every 20 minutes and that if I didn't want it, I could get my money back. I had not raised my voice, insulted him, complained about the price or demanded anything. I literally just asked whether the pizza was fresh. Even the young woman working the register appeared embarrassed by his reaction and tried to calm him down. At that point, I absolutely did want my money back. I got my refund and left without the pizza. What has bothered me all these months isn't even the pizza. It's how unnecessarily hostile the interaction became over such a simple question. As a woman of color, I left feeling extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. I'm not going to claim that I know what was in anyone's heart or what motivated the way I was treated, but I do know how I was spoken to and how that interaction made me feel. What made the experience sit with me even more was later reading other reviews describing negative or aggressive interactions with the current ownership/staff. It made me realize that I shouldn't just brush my own experience off. Customers should be able to ask a basic question about the food they are purchasing without being yelled at or told to take their money back. Basic courtesy costs nothing. I live nearby and would have gladly supported a neighborhood business regularly had my experience been different. Unfortunately, after the way I was treated, I will not return.

Bad service leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We ordered a regular cheese pizza over the phone for pick up. Nothing complicated. When we opened the box at home we saw the mistake immediately. They put raw onions on my 4 yr old's cheese pizza. My 4 yr old son was hungry and not happy. We called immediately and the staff was rude, and had attitude. They wanted us to bring back the pizza and they would replace it with a regular cheese pizza. No apology for the inconvenience. They do not know anything about customer service. Now they refuse to take our business because we complained about an order that was wrong. The cheap prices reflect the type of service you should expect to get. Go some where else. It is worth paying a little more somewhere else for better food and good service. My son is happy that we go elsewhere now. No more raw onions on his cheese pizza. read more

My daughter called to place an order and changed her voice. I told my daughter to speak English. The lady thought my daughter was telling her to speak English, but she was talking to me. The cafe lady said, "oh, that's rude to tell me to speak English". I had to get on the phone to tell her she was not talking to you. She don't call her again and won't order from here anymore. I just ordered a tuna melt from here and it was DELICIOUS! I'm always worried when I try something like a tuna melt from a new place, but the bread was toasted to perfection, the tuna was a normal amount and not "globbed" all over it and you could taste the cheese, which told me that they put a good amount on it. I have tried a bunch of different items from this menu and have yet to be disappointed. It's always cooked well, they never rush anything and it's ready fast. 5 stars! It's not even 1/3 full with ingredients. Our friends, family, and I have noticed that toppings have been less and less each time we get their House Special pizza that we might as well just get a regular pizza for a lower price and then buy the toppings of green peppers and onions, etc ourselves since they've been skimping on the toppings. Our latest pizza showed decreased toppings for a $28+ large House Special. Either BHOP changes the picture on their website, since that is an inaccurate and misleading depiction of the House Special pizza you're going to get, or they can start putting more toppings that at least comes close to the website picture of what a House Special pizza should be. The said, the thing is they used to give adequate toppings, but lately been skimping on toppings. The rest of their other food is good, but just highly disappointed in the lack of toppings of their House Special pizza as you can see from the picture. Compare it to the other House Special pizza pictures that were posted on yelp before and their website, and you'll see the stark difference!
