The square large donut called a 'Crondy' was a bit too sweet and dry for me. I would rename this the Baklava donut. It is many layers and had the same texture. The donuts and prices are outstanding. The service, they are so friendly and patient while you're pointing at each donut, and keep changing your mind. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that there boxes, when you order a dozen, are flimsy, and you really need to be careful transporting them. The sales people should warn you of that. Trying to get out of my car to get the donuts to the people I was treating, and the box folded, and I dropped almost all the donuts. When I buy donuts at Krispy Kream or other donut shops, the box is not flimsy and can transport the donuts without folding or dropping; Randy's boxes are like cheap paper plates - causing you to drop them. Ordered donuts through door dash Randy's confirmed order, when dasher arrived to pick up in drive thru they said they were out of all the donuts in the order cancel order? What? so why would you accept the order and confirm it in the fist place, not to mention your out of 12 different kind of donuts and open 24/7? The guy in the store would not even open the window to talk to the dasher so he could ask if they had something different. Me and dasher had to call DoorDash and figure out how to cancel order .. waste of time and a pain ..not to mention it wasted the time of the door dasher who drove there to get the order just to have to cancel it and Randy's wouldn't even open window talk to him..once he got there RUDE!I I then called Randy's and the guy working was rude and clueless.. crappy experience don't even want to try going again!! Heard much hype about these donuts. Waited out the long lines. When I finally went I got the Long John with Custard. It was a little too well cooked for me. When I went back the other day I just said to please make sure that it was not too well done. The young lady (drive thru) asked which donut it was and gave me another one for FREE! So tonight i tried Randy's Donuts on Harbor for the second time. The first time I went there through the drive thru, I received an apple fritter that was burned. When I say burned I mean it was black, crispy to the point of inedible. I called the store after leaving and they were very nice about it. They said they had never received this complaint and offered to refund my purchase. I was satisfied. It's been a couple of months and tonight donuts sounded great. We ordered a chocolate buttermilk, a glazed buttermilk, a cinnamon roll and yes, an apple fritter. While ordering, I reiterated my former experience with the burned Apple fritter and was told i would receive the least cooked one. All I can say is, if you enjoy the flavor of charcoal briquettes, you'll love the taste of Randy's Apple fritter. Sadly, we received a dry old glazed buttermilk, a very well done cinnamon roll and again a burned Apple Fritter. The chocolate buttermilk wasn't bad but geez, it's hard to believe others have not complained about these overdone donuts. We went back and expressed our frustration as to receiving these overdone donuts. The young man working there was very nice, refunded our purchase and gave us a few free fresh donuts. Disappointed . I use to go to the original Randy's Donuts on Manchester growing up and was excited to try out the location in the OC. The location was not well thought out since the drive thru extended out into the busy Harbor Blvd around the corner into the adjacent street blocking traffic. Cars and semi's were upset swerving to avoid the drive thru customers blocking half of their right of way. We finally got to order a dozen + 1, I had to repeat my order twice. I was ready with my list of what I wanted and then I got to the window and they still forgot my additional fruity pebbles. At this point my review is solely based on the ordering process, which was a complete nightmare. I get the sense they opened up way too early as their drive thru ordering machine still had wires hanging out, and there were a few people trying to figure out how to fix it. Then after an hour (yes it truly was an hour) I finally get to the point of placing my order, and am told the credit card machine was down and they only can take cash now (not like I have the option/time to hit up an ATM). I told them I only had $10 cash, and they said I could get a dozen of their basic donuts, but none of their specialty ones (which is why I was willing to wait an hour). Obviously, I was super disappointed, and figured no reason to go back until a month after they work out the bugs. Been coming here a decent amount of times now since they've opened and we live up the street so it's convenient. Usually have everything on hand and no real complaints, donuts are a good size and taste great. The maple bar and glaze are my favorite. With that said I like to tip if and when someone goes above and beyond, if I have the extra cash, or change if/when I pay in cash. It does put me in a weird spot when I'm asked after handing over my card if I would like to add gratuity to my card... so now it's this awkward deliberation of not lookin like an ass or tipping. So then I say a dollar, I only got 2 donuts... and I get the awkward pause like that wasn't enough and they just repeat what I said "ok a dollar?" .... no receipt either or ever since I've been coming here... saw someone else's post about them adding tips and now I'm thinking about a few times I thought what I paid seemed a little more than expected but can't prove it, maybe it wasn't. There were about 8 people in line and I was the 5th person in line and waited for over 30 mins while we all watched 10-12 cars go through drive thru. If I can recommend anything. DO the Drive Thru!!!
