Great menu with wild game, burgers, salads, great beer tap selection. Great service, unusual menu makes the difference

When we arrived for Friday date night at Range Kitchen & Tap, they were almost at full capacity in the dining room area. Definitely try to reserve a table beforehand. We were greeted with a lovely smile in the front of the rustic themed restaurant. The bar area was pretty empty, so we opted to sit at the high top tables next to the bar. They have about 11 beers on tap ranging from Lagers to IPAs to the more darker beers (Stouts). For drinks, we had the Amber Ale from SD, Alagash White Ale, Brown Ale from Jackrabbit, and 1-2 punch hazy IPA. We asked for water when we were seated by the hostess, but when the bartender/waiter arrived, he took our other-than-water and appetizer orders first. We didn't get our water until we were at the barrel end of our beers while snacking on the delicious boar bacon artichoke dip served with bite size flatbread. This was our favorite dish of the night! It came piping hot with loads of cream cheese and artichoke. For our entrees, we ordered the Fried Chicken and Game of the Day: Elk Flank. The fried chicken was a bit dry and wasn't served with a sauce, which was...odd. No hot sauce was offered for it either, so we used the house hot sauce (which was THE bomb) requested earlier in the night with the artichoke dip. The elk was ok. We were surprised the waiter didn't ask us for how we wanted it cooked, it came out VERY rare when my husband usually gets his steaks cooked medium rare. The middle of the flank was inedible. The entrees didn't arrive until about 30-45 minutes after our appetizer. We had to check in with a busier about our entrees since it took quite a bit of time for it to be delivered. The food wait during our visit here can be improved, and we would definitely try it again. Maybe they had a very busy night and were short handed. Definitely willing to try them out again on a different, non-busy day. read more

My girlfriends and I had dinner at Range 3 weeks ago and this 1 star is about the poor service. We were having a great dinner and service was great until the clock struck 9 pm and out comes a server CLAPPING his hands AT our table, saying "Alright, it's time for you girls to go, we are closed. C'mon get your things and go, I'll even help you take your things out to your cars" We had birthday gifts and flowers as we were celebrating 3 birthdays. (mind you he never did help, and as we walked out, you can hear the kitchen laughing) I was in SHOCK, we all were. You would think that with our large dinner tab that this particular server would at least have the decency to be more TACTFUL in letting us know for example: Hi, the restaurant is closing, thank you for dinning with us tonight but we do have to close up ladies. ANYTHING else would have been better than the way we were told to leave. My group of girls were very respectful and kind to the staff at Range, EVEN AFTER being herded out as if we were cattle. Because we believe in treating people with the same decency we would like to be shown. Not dining here ever again. Have some class Range. read more

Looks like a quiet little hole in wall restaurant from the street but inside is beautifully decorated with a sort of rustic feel. Seating was a bit close together but that's to be expected in a smaller restaurant like this one. I celebrated my birthday here and the wait staff was very attentive. Food was amazing, well worth the price. Definitely would come back again. read more

My husband and I really wanted to like this place. All the reviews are great. We had a reservation for my birthday. After they sat us, it took 15 minutes for someone to come and ask us what we would like to drink. At first we were served by a taller waiter, who is why this isn't completely a 1 star review. He was very nice and I could tell was trying to make sure our time was a good experience. He told us that our waiter was busy at the moment but would be right over. Meanwhile, I am sitting where you can see the whole restaurant and there are at least 2 servers standing by the hostess desk shooting the sh*t. What a waste of payroll for the owner. One bald waiter went outside 4 times to catch some fresh air and stood in the corner. We were then asked by I'm assuming our waiter what we would like to order....no introduction. I'm pretty sure we were helped by the hostess, bus boy, someone in the kitchen line. I didn't know who was on first and what was on second. The bacon artichoke dip was to die for. The hen house pizza also a plus. My husband ordered the fried chicken and part of it was undercooked. The garlic mashed potatoes were soggy, if that can even be a thing lol I want to say if there was some organization to the shifts, maybe it wouldn't feel so chaotic. read more

I went to check out this new place. It was very okay. We started with the artichoke dip and bison sliders. The chips for the artichoke dip were like fried pita bread. Not my fave. The bison sliders were moist but just not my cup of tea. I had bavette and my husband had pork chop. The bavette was tender but the fries were over cooked and salty. The carrots and green beans were barely cooked! I almost sent them back but rawishh carrots and green beans aren't terrible just not preferable so I ate them. My husband enjoyed his pork chop. My kid's pizza was pretty standard and his fries were definitely better (less) cooked than mine so I nibbled on his fries. We ordered the ice cream cookie sandwich with whiskey sauce for dessert. It literally came wrapped in the paper it is stored in in the freezer so that was super weird and made for ugly plating. It was tasty though, probably the tastiest bite of the night. All in all, it was okay. Not bad, not amazing, hence the 3 stars. read more

My wife and I always enjoy Range. This is one of our frequent date night places in Roseville. Food is always wonderful and a nice variety; everyone can find something they like. It is a nice and casual atmosphere, and the service is great. Good selection of local beer and wine. I would highly recommend Range. It's a good idea to make a reservation as it is usually busy. I was excited to try this place as they have a "wild game of the week" which was Venison and sounded amazing. Most the reviews were really good and the pictures looked great. However, the appetizers were our favorite part :( (Bison sliders and Boar bacon artichoke dip were amazing) Two of us got the Venison and it was dry, under seasoned and over cooked as well as maybe 6 very thin pre cut pieces. We were super bummed it wasn't better. Especially being someone who grew up eating venison I guess my expectations were too high. The other two in our party enjoyed their food I just wish they "wild game of the week" was better prepped for $30 a plate. read more

We went for dine in and seating was pretty spaced out. So no worries on that front. I had pan seared scallops on risotto and the scallops were the best I've had. Not chewy at all. Super soft and consistent texture. Risotto was was well cooked too. I'm not necessarily a scallop connoisseur, but I've had them enough to realize that these were way better than any I had eaten before. I had the espresso creme brûlée for dessert and that impressed me as well. I didn't really have any expectations coming in, and left really impressed. Would def go back. read more

I like this place and they do have good food. I've been here a couple times in the last year but where they lose me is the price. I would definitely frequent here more often if it was more approachable. It's nice inside, but feels more like an elevated brewery pub pizza joint. With that kinda feel, spending 20 dollars ish for meatloaf or fried chicken seems like a stretch. My hazy IPA was basically 9 dollars for a glass. Did we lose a war? Someone is super proud of their suds! As I said before, this food is good. The drink is good. I just can't see coming here all the time. read more

Fantastic neighborhood restaurant with great flavors and a fun vibe. We had the meat special, Elk Medallions, and the Fried chicken. My son ordered the meatball sliders. Everything was so tasty and full of flavor. The vibe indoors was really cool with the open kitchen and great music. Outdoor patio provided a lot of COVID-friendly seating. Had been wanting to try this place out for a while... tonight, we had the chance. Didn't have a res (and they are normally booked up), but we went early and sat in the bar. Owner and staff were extremely friendly and professional. Good beer selection and nice selection of local wines. We started with brussel sprouts to start... very wells prepared. We the. shared the catch of the day, which was local halibut. Buttery with a flavorful, crispy skin. Server selected a glass of wine that my wife loved while I enjoyed a local pils. First place we went to since some small businesses in CA opened. I had the forager pizza and hubby got the range burger and we shared the fried tomatoes. It was honestly, and no fluff, incredible. The truffle on the pizza gave it SO much flavor, the mushrooms were well cooked and it had a great thin crust. The burger was so juicy, big portion, and well flavored. I'd say the only thing would be less peppers on the fries and maybe seasoned salt. We'll definitely be back! Great first experience. read more

I honestly believe that the owner of Range Kitchen & Tap is the 'enticement' that will habitually bring my husband and I back in a lifespan. He is charismatic and greets both guests and employees with the same admiration. We are regularly welcomed and ushered to our table. I do suggest to call ahead of time for possible rsvp or wait times. The cuisine is exceptional, paired harmoniously well with a plethora of 'Dutch courage' that you have a hankering for! Excellant!! Had lunch yesterday with 3 friends. I had seen a proscuitto, peach arugula pizza posted on social media that looked so good! They had taken it off the menu a few days ago but chef made it for me and it was amazing!! Friends got the chicken sando, beet salad and caprese salad. All were incredible! Outdoor seating is really nice. Server was great and knowledgeable. Local beer and food is yummmmmmmmmy. The scallops and mushroom risotto was divine. Scallops cooked perfectly. Had a client meeting out in Roseville. Since it's rare I get out to the 'burbs, I turned to yelp to find a good spot for the six of us. Service was excellent (Tyler aka Jesse from Breaking Bad), the food was solid, and everyone was very happy with their orders. Bison sliders, the bacon cheese dip, the prime rib sandwich, all were tasty and well received. While it was a work lunch and the craziest drink order was an Arnold Palmer, the beer menu had a bunch of tasty options on it. If you're out this way, check it out. read more

This place was a disappointment. The food looked good but so bland that I could cry. The meat dishes could sure use some salt. The fries that came with my steak looked and tasted like left overs. One of my favorite haunts in Roseville! The owner is very friendly. The food is great! I like the pizzas, meatloaf, and the scallops.

Their food is delicious and we got complimentary drinks for the long wait. Great atmosphere and delicious food. What more could you ask for!

TLDR: Not only does Range Kitchen have excellent food, but their service is excellent as well. You will not be disappointed! *Chefs Kiss* My husband and I stopped by Range Kitchen with our dog, while we were waiting for our other pup to finish up a Doggy Daycare interview. Not only was the staff really awesome about accommodating our need to switch tables after already ordering drinks, but they we're also great when it came down to our time crunch. The manager (at least I think she was the manager) got us a pizza and bottle of wine to go, and checked us out in about 15 mins flat. She also took down a reservation for us the following night so we could spend a bit more time enjoying our meals. This night we sat out in the courtyard which was so pretty, quiet, and had nice fountain ambiance sounds. We both had glasses of delish wine (Dry Creek Sav Blanc) and just relaxed. It was really lovely, actually. Next night, we show up and get seated inside this time. The atmosphere is very industrial farmhouse, which is obviously so in and popular right now. Loved it. It makes a great date night restaurant but also was still quite casual. Nobody looked too fancy but you could still easily come all dressed up and not feel out of place. We ordered the deviled eggs and mussels to start (ask for extra bread, so worth it). They we're fantastic. I was honestly surprised how much I liked the eggs and the little crunchy jalapeno on top. Here we are, almost a week later and I'm still thinking about them! LOL The manager greeted us when she saw us, she even remembered my name, which made me feel super special. She was so sweet, and stayed to chat for a moment even though they were clearly very busy. I had the scallops with risotto which were to die for! My husband had the special, an incredibly thick piece of halibut that was so fresh and delish. We also drank more of that Dry Creek wine... highly recommend. So fresh and melon-y. Perfect for summer! To top all that off, we shared a cheesecake for dinner. Which came in an adorable jar, and the crust was so super good. There was something magical in it that I just couldn't put my finger on... boozy maybe? rum spices? I dont know, but it was the best. I'm kicking myself for not taking any photos, but it was date night! No phones! LOL We cant wait to come back to try more things and to bring our friends and family here. The overall experience was just ok. One of us ordered the Bison rib eye. Sent back twice as the meat was very tough. Everybody else's meals were just OK. Sad had very high expectations and felt like we over paid for an average meal. read more
