I have been looking for a new hairdresser for a while in the Fremont/Newark area. I've only ever had one person to work on my hair and you become very sceptical on who you let touch your hair. I found Rare Touch 2 on here and saw the good reviews. I was like let me check it out. I called Saturday for an appointment on Tuesday. I don't get off until 6pm and they were able to accommodate me. Porsche was amazing. I'm a very simple person when it comes to my hair and usually I don't like my hair when after it first gets done but when she turned me around I was in love with my hair. I literally come here every 2 weeks to see Regina. She has literally took my hair from damaged to flawless in less than 6 months. I get compliments daily on how healthy my hair looks, feels and is all because of Regina. Regina is a very classy and polite woman. She's prompt and always leaves a lasting impression every time I walk out of there. There are about 4 or 5 women there altogether who all do a wonderful job for the services you're looking for whether it's a wash and flat iron, a sew-in or perm they all know what they're doing in there. I found this salon on Yelp. I have been looking for a salon for months. I had asked friends and family for a referral for a salon handling African-American hair in the Fremont/Newark/Union City area, but most of them came back with recommendations that were just too far away. I called on Wednesday, thinking that I wouldn't be able to get in until after the holiday weekend. To my surprise, they were able to schedule me with Brandy that afternoon! I only waited a few minutes when I got into the salon for my appointment. She understood my hair problems (let's just say I'm not good at self-maintenance!) and worked with my nest! Shameka is the best! She will have your hair feeling like silk. I started going to her in 2003 and I trust her with scissors (more than I can say for many stylists). I've been wearing micro braids for about 9 months and now live in San Francisco, but if I ever move back to the East Bay and need styling (she does it all) I know Shameeka will have me looking fabulous. I've had a press-n-curl, flat iron, tracks put in (weave/extension), among other things and each time she never let's me down. She frequently has had to fix my do it yourself disasters and she can always find a way to rescue my hair. I went to Regina this past week and she did a fabulous job on my hair. She did a color touch up for me and washed, blowdryed, and trimmed. My hair was bouncing and behaving when I left the salon!:) She doesn't take all day to do my hair and is a very nice person as well! I was so happy with my hair I made another appointment in 2 weeks with her. All the other stylists are nice as well and do a great job on hair! Ronna handled me so beautifully. There was no rushing but I wasn't ignored either. Louis did a fantastic shampoo. I had a virgin relaxer and a trim. What ever you do DON'T GO TO TONI! I sat in that salon for 4 1/2 hours to walk out pissed! The next morning I realized that she had singed my hair with the hot comb. I received the worst hair cut in the world from rare touch II. My hair was butchered by Regina who is one of the owners of the shop i believe. I came to her with a picture which clearly showed the hair style I wanted. She agreed that the hair cut was cute and she said no more about it. She never said to me that the cut was not in her skill set . She started to cut and i noticed she was taking off more then what was required for the hair style, but i didn't say anything b/c she is a "professional" or so i assumed. Once the hair cut was finished and my hair was styled i was shocked and livid at the end results. my hair was dry and ruff at the ends and i looked like Regina King from the early 90's definitely ,not what i was going for. I haven't been to the shops in years. So I started my search there was so many places I seen but something just didn't sit right with what I was seeing. As I was searching Rare Touch 2 kept popping up so I wrote all the info down I needed. So when I got off of work I decided to call I spoke with Regina first impression mean a lot to me. Regina was very warm and sweet but most of all professional. What I wanted she said she didn't do so she referred me to her sister Rona (don't kill me if i spelled it wrong lol) she was just as pleasant. I went to the shop and as the warmth I received on the phone was the same when I entered the shop . Rona was only looking to see how my hair was. She was very clear on how my hair was and what needed to be done. So I asked if she can do my hair she had only booked to do one head but she managed to squeeze me in without a second thought which was awesome and very kind of her. While I was there her daughter Brandy was there she was very sweet as well she was doing a young ladies hair and I can tell she loves doing hair which is a plus ladies you don't just want anyone in your hair lol.
