    Mi Siam

This place is the epitome of a hole in the wall. Very small, very friendly family owned establishment. I ordered the Mi Siam, which were clear spicy noodles, shrimp, and an egg on top. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommended, especially if you want something different.

So many businesses are no longer open for weekday lunch in the post-pandemic landscape, so we were thrilled to find out that Rasa Ris is still serving lunch on weekdays. The prices are very fair-- most lunch entrees run between $6 and $8 and include a substantial portion of rice. You can add a curry puff, which I highly recommend, and a tip and still walk out the door at right around $10. The flavors in all the dishes here are absolutely magical, and the quality of the vegetables and meat is much higher than many of the fast casual Asian food options in the area. I have a feeling I will wind up trying everything on the menu since everything I've had has been exceptional so far. The lemon chicken wasn't as deep fried as I expected, but the sauce was a stand out.

I've had Rasa Ria bookmarked since last summer and I finally got a chance to try it! Rasa Ria is so dang tasty. The family-like set up (Dad/Mom in kitchen, son(s?)/cousins/younger family as front of house) adds to the experience. You don't come here for the service - they're not going to dote over you like a 5-star steakhouse. But, they're respectful and efficient. If you're a regular, it seems like they treat you like family! We had the: *Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Fried Rice) - Let's start with the egg topping - I loved the texture & the slight sweetness from what I was guessing Maggi seasoning/soy sauce. We ordered the quart portion (comes in pint or quart for some reason, lol) with chicken and it was plenty for us to share. The flavors are delicious! I asked for some chili sauce because I like heat & it amped it up a notch. Yum. Caution their homemade sambal is realllll spicy! *Beef Rendang (South East Asian Curry) - The flavors are really familiar with this dish - reminds me a little of laksa and thai curries. The beef was tender and the lemongrass, galangal, coconut combo is so familiar that it's comforting and very, very tasty. I want to know how Rasa Ria achieves this level of umami. Just superb! *Teh tarik (Mayalasian pulled milk tea) - MM MM MM! I've had pulled milk tea once in Taiwan (street market) but this is better. It's like what it sounds. It's only served hot, by the way! 213/365

The food was pretty good, the service was ok but seemed a little rushed and annoyed. The food was better than average asian food in America, but still pretty normal. A few things did taste exceptionally good, like the indian flatbread apetizer we got and the malted milk that I got. The prices and portions are very good.

I love this place. Their food is very similar to what I grew up with so whenever I feel a little blue, you will find me here with a huge plate of fried rice, roti canai and curry puff! I've had several dishes over the years from noodles to their special dishes but I always come back to fried rice and curry puffs. Tip :1) When you order in, it's enough for one person to just order pint size for fried rice because it's a huge portion and the best part is $5~. Tip : 2) When you get a take away, you might wanna order quart for fried rice because the box is pretty small. So do the math. We usually order pint for dine in and just take the leftovers home. If you are feeling adventurous, ask for a side of samba and you will love it. ( spicy ish chilli) Don't expect too much for the service. You are ordering or eating at the mom and pop store. We've been coming here for years so the son knows our orders by heart.

so this place has been on my list to try for a longgg time. moving out of kalamazoo I had to try this before i left. so this was my last meal in kalamazoo and i am so sad i didn't try it sooner!! Delicious, flavorful, and cheap! this is truly a hidden gem of kalamazoo. I can't tell you how many times in my past 5 years of living in kalamazoo I have driven down west main and not even noticed this place and that is a shame because it is truly a delicious meal. Roti with curry YUM. Chicken curry yum! The indonesian fried rice yum! curry puffs yummmm. All soooo good. I am very sad I did not try this place sooner before moving because I am sure it would have been a frequent dinner spot for me. So this is your sign to go and try it!

The best place in Kalamazoo for Indonesian & Malaysian food. I can't get enough of the Mee Sup Asam Pedas as pictured: A sweet/sour/spicy soup in a red broth with noodles, vegetables, chicken and Shrimp. The Beef Rendang is also out of site!

The fried rice is amazing!!! I now crave it. I do wish the curry was a little more spicy, but other than that the food is really good!

How handicapped accessible is it? On a scale of 1-10, what's the noise level? 10 = so loud you must…

Very quiet. I'd say 1+ As far as accessibility I'm not certain.

Whenever I'm out of town, I ALWAYS look for a Korean restaurant, and as luck would have it, there are a few in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Yay!! Only thing wrong with my search, two of the three were closing in ten minutes and the third was advertised as Fried Chicken. I was 15 minutes away, so I gave in for the chicken, with fingers crossed that they'd have other popular dish options. Beautiful little restaurant when you arrive, very clean too. Immediately greeted and asked if to-go or dine-in, as they have a good counter for food delivery services. I of course opted to dine-in since I had about an hour til closing. Really nice looking menu, with plenty of selections beyond Fried Chicken. I didn't hesitate too long as to expedite my meal before closing. I ordered Pork Pot Stickers (Yakimandu), JapChae, and some Bulgogi. PanChan was extra, and the Kimchi along with Pickled Radish were my selection. The Yakimandu arrived first, nicely plated with half So Garlic Sauce and half Spicy Sauce. The mandi were delicious with these brushed sauces. That Spicy was no joke either, had a really good burning kick. The remainder of the meal was brought out together. The plates looked great and I couldn't wait to dig in, but if course pictures first. Both were super delicious and really hitting the spot after a long day. Very tasty meals. The staff brought me out a dessert after seeing me take all the photos, something I've never had, Deep Fried Cheesecake. Check out the photos. Definitely a different take on the dessert. Everything outside was crispy, of course, with the inside still the same. It was a texture experience. The staff were super friendly, very well knowledged on the menu items. Place was very clean, not just clean, but very clean! I think they said they've been there just over a year. I was served by Freda, and Caroline was there to assist when needed. The hostess was a real sweetheart, I'll call hers "Zaps" (because she had the TV remote at closing and I missed her real name). Young masked gentleman, again missed name, and one of the owners Kenny and his wife Lin. So good, I will be eating lunch and/or dinner there again tomorrow or Monday depending on time. I definitely want to try the Fried Chicken, probably not with the Spicy Sauce this time. LOL I do highly recommend you try this place if you haven't.

The moment you walk in, you're greeted by a charming cat statue at the entrance, which instantly sets a fun and welcoming tone. We ordered the korean style Short Ribs and Pad Thai Noodles. Let me just say the short ribs were absolutely delicious. Perfectly tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Honestly, I kept repeating how good they were no notes, just a flawless, traditional short ribs experience. The Pad Thai was okay at first, with a smaller portion than expected. We asked for a remake, and the second portion was much better. It was still on the lighter side, but the flavors were spot on authentic and satisfying. A squeeze of lemon elevated the dish beautifully! The space was clean and nicely maintained. There were a few flies, but the staff explained it was due to a recent wedding event that had kept the doors open. And honestly, I could see why someone would choose this venue for an intimate wedding the surroundings are beautiful, with lovely outdoor seats that add to the experience. It's casual, but the atmosphere has something special while surrounded by nature. I'd say this place is perfect for a daytime visit, especially to enjoy the sunshine and soak in the peaceful ambiance of the Texas Corners area. The staff were excellent, going above and beyond to explain the menu and give us thoughtful recommendations. There's even a cute corner fridge where you can grab drinks, ice cream and desserts , a nod to the restaurant's origin as part of an Asian grocery store. Now, it's blossomed into its own standalone restaurant branch, and it really shows in the care they put into everything. I'll definitely be coming back. I loved the vibes, the natural light, and of course the amazing food. Next time, I'm definitely trying their bubble tea. It looked so good, and almost every table around us had one!

The owner or manager lady has a great sense of humor and is very happy to guide you in your selections. I tried soju for the first time. (Mostly neutral spirit that is often flavored) I ordered pineapple and it is served in 375 ml bottles! Fortunately they can tape the bottle up if you can't drink it all there so you can enjoy the rest at home. My husband got the mango sake colada and loved it. Main entrees were Thai basil stir fry with shrimp and chicken combo and the duck breast served over noodles (pho). Both dishes were very good. Basil stir fry was a bit salty. Duck was tender and broth was delicious! They had a lot of yummy desserts but we didn't have any room. I would not hesitate to return if I lived in the area.
