Starters this is more beachy american mexican food but it is still so good. The portions are huge and i couldn't finish my two tacos, beans and rice. I'll start off by saying that I enjoy the food very much. It has good flavor and quality. The issue is not with the food, its an issue with added and hidden charges for orders. I am a local and use to come here more regularly. The prices are already high but the issue I have is when they add extra bogus charges that are not on the menu. For example the menu says choice of black or pinto beans for the bowls. I choose pinto and they say it's a dollar extra to substitute. They ask if you want salsa but then sometimes sneak a charge in for it. I've been charged for a small plastic water cup. It's not just me that has an issue with this, I have seen customers with large orders catch considerable extra charges snuck in. It's not consistent, it's like they do it when they think it will go unnoticed. When I asked the workers about it they say the owner has them doing this and they don't agree. It's terrible, unethical and borders on fraud. I don't plan to order here anymore. I should not have to worry about hidden charges getting snuck in. read more

I had the jerk chicken tacos, and thought the price was reasonable (around $5 for 2, if I am remembering correctly), and the chicken was tasty and well seasoned. I've had authentic jerk quite a bit, so I wouldn't say it tastes like that, but it was a nice fusion of two cultures and the flavors were good. I've been coming here for years and really enjoy the white fish Caribbean burrito. It also comes with a few chips and salsa on the side. The price is now 18.95 before tax and tip. For me this is too much and just wanted to make people aware that the prices continue to go up here. It's good but certainly not $20 worth. The Mahi Mahi burrito at the Taco Stand down the street is 9.89 and even closer and local the one at La Sirena is 12.25. Their prices are way out of line. read more

Hired their catering services for my wedding. Food was okay however they took all the leftovers without telling us. They were not organized, they never told us when they were ready or if they were leaving. They also ran out of utensils and expected us to provide more. They should've been better prepared. I've come here quite a few times, the food is very refreshing. The meat the rice and the beans and the vegetables have a sense of freshness to them. Their tacos are normal size not extra large which I appreciate. Their bowls are also very well put together. The chips are not loaded with salt, which is a good thing. The services is excellent and the seating in the back is very cozy and makes you realize you are sitting in a cool Laguna Beach spot. Just nearby to Laguna Beach, so you can sit on the beach, order your food online, then go to pick it up a few blocks away. Really loved the nachos and food, but most importantly the generous service. I had placed an order, and it soon after got cancelled (they were too busy to fulfill it). A bunch of friends and I were staying in the area and needed a quick bite somewhere that could fit / host at least 10 people with different food preferences, such as vegan and vegetarian. I am so thankful I happened upon this place! This small little shop is only a kitchen with some outdoor seating. I personally got 3 different tacos, and wow were they amazing. I got the Seared White Fish Taco, Carne Asada Taco and the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Taco. My favorite was the Fish Taco, but all 3 were delicious. I do wish I got only two because I was SUPER full after, but it was totally worth it. My boyfriend got similar tacos, but instead he got an Al Pastor Taco which was amazing too (I may or may not have snuck a bite). This is a fun, delicious stop. It's in a great location with a really cute patio. The prices are reasonable. The chips are not very salty, which is not good in my opinion, but the salsa made up for it. I have read bad reviews on the different salsas, but I enjoyed them. You won't get a lot of food for your buck, but if you're looking for something to tide you over while you take a seat, enjoy the sun, and want a quick break from shopping, this is a good choice. Have had better, especially for the asking price. They were out of a lot of stuff, including tortilla chips, pork, shrimp and white fish..... went at 5pm. Let me edit my previous comment in response to the the owner's response. So the food that I did get (Carnitas tacos) was good, just not great. Didn't wow me or blow me away. It was simply just good, just not as good as other places I've been to, hence..., I've had better ( Prob should've clarified to begin with) My bill was $88 for 4 people before tip. Sorry, I thought it was pricey for what we got, and don't blame the economy on that. The prices are simply most likely due to the locale and the authenticy claim on the cuisine that is offered. I live on the opposite coast, and yes prices can be comparable, however can also vary from place to place. I would most likely pass on coming again, as I've had better for cheaper and yes, authentic as well. There is a large Saturday morning market where I come from that offers similar food, but is just simply done better....that's all. No need to take offense. I've been outside the country and spent a fraction of the cost and again, just done way better. It doesn't mean that what I am saying is wrong or right. It is simply a matter of opinion, just like your other reviews. With regard to being out of food, the lady taking the order said they were out of fish for a day or two. The place was not overwhelmingly busy for 5pm, only 1 table was occupied before we sat down. Another family came during our meal and actually ordered. There was an excessive wait and a few other people showed up, but left due to you being out of the variety of things and/ or just waiting to place their order, I assume. We passed on Wild Taco (around the corner) I believe that is what it was called, due to the excessive amount of flies inside and the off putting oder of the alley it is next to smelled of sewage. There was none of that here at this place. Seating is outside and covered by tarps / umbrellas. Occasional flies, but again, you are eating outside and that wasn't a big deal and had nothing to do with the overall review. I based my stars on the food that was available and the price for which I paid of said food. Service was below average. 3 stars does not mean terrible in any sense. I did not encounter any rudeness or health violations, etc.. Table cleanliness was average for a 2 person operation and also did not factor in the overall review. read more

Full of flavor, fresh ingredients packed with flavor! I had a bowl and the portions are abundant, I couldn't finish mine. When they say "hot" salsa, believe them! They asked if we wanted med or hot and we're Texans that love hot HOT sauce so we clearly went with hot. Have to admit this is the hottest we've ever experienced and it was SO good but not for wimps. At first I saw they were charging $5 for a taco and I was like "ok, five dollars for a taco? Get real, Rasta taco. I'm a working man, I don't have five dollars to waste on Mexican-Jamaican cuisine." I would like to formally apologize to Rasta Taco for making a premature judgement. I got a jerk chicken burrito. It tasted like Christmas. The guacamole was $4 for 4 oz. that's $1 per 1 oz. Can't believe I have overlooked this spot all of the times I have gone down to Laguna Beach! My brother and his family were visiting and we were looking for something inexpensive for dinner. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of cheap options unless you want to settle on basic BJ's or Johnny Rockets. I figured Rasta Taco would be in our price range since it had more of a fast food style set up. We ordered at the window and the guy who took our order was super personable and friendly. I ordered the jerk chicken taco and it was delicious! Not to mention they have an amazing salsa bar with every type of salsa you can think of.
